Chatelain John Od - Copperfield Vision

I have been going to Dr. Chatelein for a few years now. I've gotten contacts, glasses, and safety glasses. He's a great doctor and an affable person. I've never had a problem with the staff.

Here's why I've taken my business elsewhere:

One time I made an appointment for 1:30, so I showed up at about 1:20, thinking I was doing well on time. The woman behind the counter seemed very irritated when she told me that I was late and my appointment was for 1:00, not 1:30. They went ahead and saw me, but only after the woman reminded me in her "you're-an-idiot" tone that it was me, not anyone at her office, who made the mistake. Okay -- even though I remembered very clearly my correct appointment time and even wrote it down on my wall calendar and in my appointment book -- maybe I was mistaken. Then the exact same thing happened to my hyper-organized neighbor, and she was treated with the same attitude. I find it very annoying when people mess up my appointment time, blame me, and treat me like I'm an idiot for it. Even if I had been mistaken -- which, after my neighbor experienced the same thing, I highly doubt -- what purpose does the nasty attitude serve?

That incident aside, my husband and I have both noticed that the staff at the front seems generally rude, and as another reviewer stated, condescending. I'm not thin-skinned and would patiently tolerate it if it were not the fact that there are other optometrists in the area whose offices are staffed with much friendlier people. It's a shame because Dr. Chatelain is a pretty decent doctor, but life is too short to put up with rude people.

I read the reviews from other people on this site and though, "Oh good a great doctor". Far from the truth. Staff was condescending and put off by my presence. Doctor was OK, frame selection OK, pushy staff trying to sell me stuff I did not need.

I am new to the area (4 months) and did not know better. After talking with some neighbors I found out this place has a bad rep.

I realize now that the other comment were probably from the staff that works there.

One day my dad decided to take me to today vision copperfield. To be honest, I did not think that I needed an eye exam; I thought my sight was as perfect as can be. As it turns outit wasnt! When I got there, the atmosphere seemed very calm and friendly. After I filled out the application forms and such, I only waited for a few minutes, and I was on my way to being tested. The doctor seemed very professional and experienced, so I felt like I was in good hands. After getting tested, I picked out frames from a wide selection.with the help of the person showing them to me. The whole process took only about half an hour. Less than a week later, I got my glasses. Today vision copperfield is as good as they come with outstanding customer service and professional doctors.

Our whole family was in need of eye exams and visited copperfield vision. They were so friendly and helpful. The kids loved them and were not a bit scared. The staff put them at ease and is great with children. The carry a wide selection of frames at great prices. They except most insurance plans and file your claim for you. I highly recommend Dr. Chatelain. He is a thorough optometrist who cares abouthis patients.
