Ratings_icons Good Service

Andrea P.

I've always liked their groomers and have had no issues with their staff. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They offer walking and entertainment services for your pets while they are waiting to get groomed. They also have a jacuzzi bath and special message options for your pets that are ageing. Very nice.

Ratings_icons Traumatized my dog!

Tina M.

Took my Bichon in for a trim and bath. When I picked her up, she was SKINNED around her eyes, and on her belly. They obviously didn't finish trimming her. She was severely traumatized, and nervous for weeks. Spoke to the manager, who was apologetic, and offered free skin-soothing spa-baths, and refunded my money. Can't bear to bring my dog there again.

Ratings_icons Exmoor is a great place

Linda M.

Been going there since 1996. Have trusted them with my dogs and cats for boarding. Vickie at the front desk is wonderful. When my Dog, who had been going there for years was 17 she no longer wanted to be groomed. They let me go back and be with her while they groomed her. Mauvie her groomer was wonderful...They have extremely small quarters for grooming so I can see why they don't give tours. They have always had the specific hours, closed from 1pm till 4pm and that's just the way they do business. Just took my newest dog Maltese/schnauzer mix there Monday, Mauvie is still here after all these years...and gave her a wonderful cut...Their prices have gone up quite a bit over the years, but guess you have to pay for quality. You have to book boarding far far in advance...especially on holiday. Nice Family run business.

Ratings_icons my dog is missing part of her ear because of their groomer

Megan G.

The other day when I picked my dog up from getting her summer hair cut I realized that her ear was cut and bleeding. After taking her to the vet I found out that it wasn't a small nick, she actually has a piece cut off her ear. When I went to complain the groomer just shrugged her shoulders and blamed my dog. She didn't even try to stop the bleeding and there was NO APOLOGY. The management did pay for the vet bills and they are nice. But them having this terrible groomer shows a major lack of judgement. The groomers don't care about the animals....just fitting as many in to one day as they can to make more money. If you care about your animals well being don't trust them in the hands of ex moor.

Ratings_icons Exmoor Pet Care Svc is awesome

Linda Y.

Love this place as they are attentive and loving to the animals. This is the first place I have boarded my fur children where they do not throw a fit when I give them over and they are always in great shape when I pick them up. Previously I would have wild barking canines after boarding elsewhere - but not at Exmoor. They pay great attention to special food or pills and health issues. The staff is extremely personable and friendly and apparently love animals. I feel safe leaving my animals here and do not worry as I know they are watched and cared for. Their grooming staff is also great as cuts are very cute and both dogs get a bath successfully ( hard task). I cannot say enough good things about this place

Ratings_icons great!

MIMI L.

we recently took our puppy for grooming. we were very nervous about leaving him with people we really didn't know, but were calmed and reassured upon arrival. great customer service in person and over the phone! they did a fabulous job on the trim. our dog is a mini poodle but we didn't want the traditional "poodle cut" my husband asked for something more manly! not too short around the paws and face. we loved it and so did our pup. they cut it short, but not too short. his paws were tapered, not shaved and around his face looked awesome with a few spikes on top. GREAT JOB!! he was ready for the hot texas weather! we'll be back! thanks exmoor!!

Ratings_icons NO HOT BOXES

Gay F.

I have seen the grooming facilities at Exmoor and have had my dog groomed there for 3 years. They do not allow customers or staff if at all possible to go to grooming facilities due to the fact that the pups or kitties start moving around when people enter - hence, makes grooming very difficult - have you ever tried to groom a dog or cat???? There are NO, absolutely, NO HOT BOXES at Exmoor - they would never put animals in jeopardy like that. I love Exmoor and will always use them for my services!!!! I entrust my best friend with them.

Ratings_icons Will Never Use Exmoor Again

Anonymous

I took my two dogs there for boarding and the front staff was ok at check in. I felt ok leaving my dogs there. However, when I returned to pick them up, my dogs looked awful. I almost didn't recognize them. I asked for a tour of the facility and they said that on Fridays, they do not offer tours. The finally agreed and asked me to wait while they cleaned the area. I waited about 10-15 minutes and I was led back to the worst smelling room. It reeked of urine and poop. All the dogs in there looked agitated and unhappy and I would not blame them. Huge difference from the happy dogs I see at Barking Hound Village, where my dogs have gone before. My dogs and all the dogs I have seen there are happy and rested and there is nooo smell there at all where the dogs sleep. I will never go to Exmoor and would not recommend to anyone who loves their pets.

Ratings_icons 3 dogs---training, grooming and boarding...always happy

Anonymous

We love Exmoor. The front desk staff and those responsible for moving animals to their assigned location, are fantastic. At drop off, they move quickly to get everyone in and out and on there way. The boarding is good, with choices for frisbee time, couch time, etc. The grooming is also good. We have had better but they are good and most importantly, the staff is great with the animals. I have one dog that was traumatized as a puppy and the Exmoor staff has done a great job helping me get her through it. Training was very effective for us...its more about training the humans, not the dog. TINA is awesome. Once the human knows their role, things go well with consistency. Only thing we don't like is the fact that they close for Quiet time for a couple hours each afternoon when I would like to be able to pickup sometimes.

Ratings_icons Sorry nobody's purrrfect

Star T.

I'm sad to see so many bad things said. I've never "blogged" before, this is my first time. I love Exmoor pet care. I've used them for 2 generations of pets and have never encountered problems...except for being put on hold a little too long. One of my dogs got into it with his sister while they were boarding there and he got a wound on his ear. They were quick to contact me and very knowledgeable on how to care for him. They actually probably helped me save some money. He was treated consciously and with care and the wound on his ear was fine.Lady with the puppy's that were nicked. Ouch!! That's never good. Have you ever groomed a dog before?Dog's jerk around, pull there limbs away and OMG sometimes they even try to bite..well at least your pet is okay.I love the grooms I've received at Exmoor. Even if they did get a nick or a nail cut too close. I've tried to give one of my dogs a summer cut..never again, it's very difficult. I'm not good at nail trims, my dogs fight "tooth" and "nail". Thank you Exmoor for fighting my battles ;}Kennel Hour Complaints: whah!, good luck, they all have different schedules. Pick one that works for you before you pick the kennel, then you don't have to complain about it.Training classes....we had soooo much fun. Where were these people that didn't learn anything?? I've been through 3 beginner classes and 1 CGC (know what that is?). The group classes are a blast, at least the classes I we were in were. Yes, you learn "leave it"...probably the first command taught. "Come...Sit...Stay...Down...Off...Heel...Stop...Over...Good boy!! and...Leave it" Very positive learning techniques and commands that are easy to remember at least for those that listen or care to listen. The people that work there are kind, caring, loving people that seem to enjoy caring for other peoples pets in a very special way. I also know that most of the people that work there are PCT's. Meaning they are Certified Pet Care Technicians, which means they took tests provided by the American Boarding Kennel Association. This should be very important to anyone leaving their pet at a kennel or pet sitting service.Wow! I vented...Exmoor is a great place to entrust your loved ones..I trust them with my babies and always will. And for the prices..please.All I can say to anyone that's unhappy. Do your research first. Ask questions, understand the answers. Be empathetic.. you may not know what your pet is like when you're not right there (kids, huh!)Thank you everyone at Exmoor, Star

Ratings_icons Stay Away From Groomer

Mary W.

Stay away from Groomer at Exmoor. My two small poodles have suffered from knicks and burn marks from the grooming. Front desk staff is great and boading is good. Exmoor should get another groomer to replace "The Drama Queen."

Ratings_icons Great customer service!

Anonymous

I was amazed how knowledgable the front desk girls were! They adequately answered all my questions and even offered a tour among all the other options...play groups/massage/grooming etc... Knowing that the staff has pet care education levels that they can reach makes me feel better about leaving my pet.

Ratings_icons Avoid the services

dntwn d.

Not reccomended, their customer service is bad, and as a proof is the restricted conditions for delivering and picking up the dogs in terms of hours, and teh eagerness to endorse an 'Urgent Pick Up or Delivery" fee to remedy any problems customers may have had with their timing. Demostrates no flexibility and they are taking advantadge of the pet boarding needs in Austin. The situation allows them to be rude and aggressive with customers. i.e the fact that Thursdays are the only days with extended hours shows that they require customers to buy extra days....

Ratings_icons I'd stay away from their training

Y M.

The training is unsatisfactory. They are well intentioned and the staff is very nice, but unfortunately the training just isn't up to par. You are better off going elsewhere where you will get much better training that is practical and necessary for you and your dog. You barely know anymore at the end of this class than you did at the beginning. Do yourself and your dog a favor and stay away.

Other services I can't speak about, I've never used them for more than training although I did call and speak to them about the daycare once and decided not to use it as there are daycare centers that offer much more fun for the dogs such as all day, supervised playtime where dogs are divided by size, age and/or personality.

Ratings_icons Grooming and Boarding next . . . Training

L K.

Exmoor has now become Jessie's, my dog, home away from home. The staff are punctual with service and eager to know how to make Jessie's stay more comfortable. I work in EMS so my work schedule and hours require for Jessie to be boarded. I choose Exmoor to help me with Jessie for several reasons.
**The yards and quarters are clean
**The staff are experienced and have history with Austin
**My questions are answered
**My request are always (a word I use rarely) met
If I'm ever to be impressed with a business its due to their customer service, which Exmoor provides. Even after I have dropped Jessie off for grooming or boarding.

Ratings_icons Okay but wouldn't recommend it

J J.

I took my dog to Exmoor for training. While it is was somewhat helpful, it left a great deal to be desired. I definitely wouldn't recommend it after having gone there. There are much better training places in Austin. They don't even touch what I consider important commands for puppies such as drop it, leave it, and etc. Even recall isn't stressed the way it should be. In addition the classes are pretty uninteresting for both the dogs and humans and the facilities are shabby at best. I suggest you look elsewhere because if you take classes here, you'll inevitably end up having to take another class elsewhere.

Ratings_icons Great care.

We have a black lab that we have taken for grooming almost every month. We upgrade to the furminator, and it has been so VERY worth it. Shedding is minimal.

PROS: great service
CONS: none
