5 Stars: Sole Service (by SmithJeweler)

I've been going to The Austin Shoe Hospital for 20 years and I always receive great service and a quality job. Joe, the manager, always recognizes me and says hello. And by the way, this is a locally owned and family operated company. Austin Shoe Hospital will always have my business.

5 Stars: Your shoes don't have to retire! (by theamyshow)

I love Austin Shoe Hospital. I can't tell you how many shoes I've taken there that I had no hope of recovering, only to see them emerge as gorgeous as when I bought them. Amazing!
Pros: Fantastic service, quick turn-around time.
Con: Wish prices were more compatible with my budget, although to their credit, they do quote you the price beforehand.

1 Stars: Poor Quality & Over-priced (by lblanke)

Took my golf shoes in to get the soles reattached. I though $45 was excessive but was willing to pay to have it done professionally. Picked them up and there was dried glue all over my shoes. Guy said that was pretty standard. What? I probably could have done an equally bad job myself with a $3 tube of rubber cement and a paint brush.

5 Stars: Best service I've ever had. (by MM32)

Best service I've ever had. I've taken three pairs of my favorite boots here already.

The latest thing that impressed me... Have some smooth tan ostrich that needed the Heel capped, usually takes three days. I mentioned I wanted to wear them at the State Convention 6/6/08... Came back at 3pm to pick up another pair of boots and they went ahead and got the ostrich boots done too. I was extremely happy

1 Stars: I won't be going back... disorganized and lack of service (by amti)

I am not happy with ASH? I brought new wheeled Eddie Bauer duffle bag under warranty for them to fix. ASH said it would be several weeks before they would be able to work on it since they would have to order the part and that they would call me when my luggage was fixed. No problem? except they never called. I went by there several months later and showed them my claim ticket to ask about my item. They couldn't find it ! They searched for about ten minutes before finding it in the back, on the top shelf. It was long forgotten and not fixed. They apologized and said they would call the manufacturer for the part and call me when it was ready. Well, months later, no call?

When I inquired about my luggage on my third trip to their store, they couldn?t find it (again). I was told that because it had been there for a while, it was thrown out or donated. I asked why no one called me before making such a drastic move and I was told they do call several times before getting rid of items. Well, I never got a call. Do you see a pattern?

I do admit I should have been more diligent about checking up on my item. However, I do believe that a business needs to keep their word. Their word is their livelyhood. If they say they will call, then they need to follow through. If they have something they cannot fix, they should be upfront instead of ignoring it. They had two separate incidents where they said they would contact me but never did. They also said they call people before getting rid of their items, but I never got a call. People are busy and will forget! ASH never apologized nor offered to reimburse me for my brand new luggage. Funny thing is that I bought it on clearance for about $20 (75% off), and that would have been all I asked for. Heck, I would have even been happy with a sincere apology. However, their lousy attitude, lack of organization, and lack of customer service has led me to post a negative review. I do not recommend them nor will I ever go there again.

1 Stars: Don't go here! They will throw out your stuff without calling you! (by h i.)

I had purchased a new suitcase when I noticed the roller case was cracked. My warranty said to take it to an authorized repair place, which was the Austin Shoe Hospital. I took it in and was told that they would have to contact the company to order a part for it since they did not have wheel casings in stock. I was told it could be six weeks or more depending on how fast they received the parts, and that they would call me. Well, five months went by and no one called. And since I was in the area, I dropped in to check. After some serious searching, they found my suitcase in the back, on the top shelf. They gave it to me to take home saying it was fixed, but it was in the same cracked condition I brought it to them. Nothing was done!

The manager (I believe his name was Joe) apologized and said he would personally take care of it and call the company and let me know what was going on. Well, I never heard back from him. When I did finally make it back into that part of town, I was told that they no longer had my item. I explained to the same man Joe what had happened previously since he didn't remember. He told me several stories.

First he told me it was my fault for keeping the item there so long. Joe did not recall my item and said they throw out items after they have been there a while. I reminded him that it was also their fault for not doing anything to the suitcase the first few months. And I reminded him that he said he would call me when he knows how long it would take to repair the suitcase- and I never received a call. Joe then said that if the company does not have the part, then the company would have called me directly to replace my item. I told him no one called from the company. Then he said they (ASH) always call several times before they get rid of something. Well, no one called me- ever. My phone has been connected continuously for the last 15 years and I have a family of 4 phone answering individuals and no one here has gotten a call from them. Even the answering machine denies taking a message from ASH.

No refund or replacement was given and I was told it was my own fault because they state they can dispose of items left over so many days. They would not even admit any wrongdoing or apologize for their lack of customer support. It was more or less a,"too bad...its your fault" type of attitude. I would not recommend them ever! They are unorganized, snooty, and do not keep their word. Meanwhile, I still have my useless claim number and am lacking a suitcase...

5 Stars: Extend the life of your shoes forever! (by lukner)

Before Austin Shoe Hospital, I would buy new dress shoes frequently. Not anymore. They can repair my worn-out shoes and bring them back to life (over and over again). Their service is friendly and they do very nice work. I have been using them for a couple of years now, and I highly recommend them. They are pricey, but not as expensive as buying new shoes frequently.
