So pleased
by Michelle M.
I found this salon on insider pages and then read the reviews on citysearch and gave it a try. How scary is it to go to a new salon? VERY. anyway, I really enjoyed this salon and the staff, these people understand customerservice and the haircut and the color I recieved were excellent. Not cheap for Austin, but as good as anything I found in LA without the pretense and WAY cheaper.

Best cut ive ever had
by One Love
I have never had a better cut than the cut I received from Aydrian. She really knows what she is doing. I came to her in dire need of an overhaul. I had been to another salon in town and got a horrible "stacked" bob. She was able to take the choppy worst cut of my life and turn it into a haircut that I have never gotten more compliments on. I went to Aydrian a couple of weeks later for my color and was equally impressed. Upon calling to make an appointment I just found out that Aydrian has left to work at Topaz salon. Im sure the other stylists are great at Keith Kristofer but I will follow Aydrian anywhere!
Pros: best cut, great color

Unpleasant Surprise with Highlights
by luxbeauty
I went in to have my hair colored a shade darker (medium brown) with subtle highlights for a friend's wedding party the next day. I asked for subtle highlights, and not anything drastic. The highlights were foiled first and left on the entire time. The results were truly disappointing as I looked like I had thick blocks of orange/yellow streaks through my hair, and even older with the highlights by my ears resembling white hair. The main color looked lighter than what I had walked in with because of the highlights. I was so embarrassed with the pictures, and to this day cannot look at them. I went back the following week to have it fixed, and the 2nd application of the darker color hid some of the hideous highlights but not for long. I had to go to another salon within the same month, and they did their best to correct the issue without damaging my hair. I will never go back to Keith Kristoffer's.
Cons: Coloring technique/judgment

Amber is the best!!!!
by Elizabeth Luker
I have had my eyebrows waxed and tinted everywhere from Los Angeles to New York to Dallas to London, and trust me when I say no one in any of those cities can compare to Amber at Keith Kristofer Salon. She spends a great deal of time analyzing your skin, hair and the shape of your face before deciding what eyebrow color and shape is right for you. I'm a redhead, so mixing the perfect color combination for my skin and hair can be difficult, but Amber gets it right everytime. Unfortunately, I live in New York, which makes it impossible to see Amber each time I need a touch up. I was recently reminded how amazing she is when I went to have my eyebrows done at Warren Tricomi in the Plaza in New York, and it was a disaster. Even the most upscale salons can't compete with Amber.
If you live in Austin, definitely go see her!!

Carrie if Fantastic

Carrie has done a nice job of giving me highlights that are not obvious. She really cares about her clients and what they want, and it shows. Thanks for everything Carrie!

Wonderful People with Loads of Talent
by GlassyGirl
Carrie, colorist, is amazing. She's creative and I've received more compliments on my color in the year that I've been a client at KK, than ever before. She has a personality that makes everyone want to be good friends with her.
Amber, THE eyebrow designer of Austin, takes years off my face everytime she does my brows. Now she's someone you totally want to go out and party with.
Larin, hairstylist, is so bubbly and sweet and really listens to what her client wants. She does a great job creating "Victoria's Secret" hair.
Jacqueline, nail specialist, is awesome at doing up your twenty in style. She's always trying out new things so she stays current. Always fun to chat with while she works.
Melissa & Autumn rock! I'm always pumped to see what their hair looks like every time I visit.
All in all, everyone I've spent time with at KK is fun, talented and creative.
I'll definitely be with them for a long time.
Pros: Everyone there is a pro and they're so friendly
Cons: A little pricey, but worth it

Not up to speed on blond highlights
by RobinDSullivan
Salon only knows how to do banana peel blond. Eyebrow expert didn't really provide any advice with free consultation. Note to salon... there is golden blond, carmel etc...
Pros: Salon has a cool vibe
Cons: behind the times on technology

Perfect!
by austinsusie
This was my first time at this salon. I was comfortable there, everyone is very nice, and the salon is beautiful.
Here is the really, really important stuff:
I went to Kris, my hair was a mess, it was the wrong color and I had quite a bit of growth. So I needed her to correct the color, and blend it into my natural mostly white with brown hair outgrowth. What surprised me is that she knows what color is best for my skin tone, she actually studied that! In the past years, I have asked stylists at other salons what color would be best for my skin tone, and none of them knew, they just said pick a color you like.
Kris did a perfect job, my hair looks fabulous! It looks 100% better, Kris performed magic, I really didn't think it could turn out this well. It makes my skin look better and I think I even look a little younger:) Thank you Kris!
Also, her assistant, Jessica? I think that's her name, I am so sorry, I can remember for sure. But her assistant is a doll, and I can honestly say I have never had such a relaxing shampoo. I know this sounds silly, but even when she dried my hair with the towel, it was relaxing! I want to go back in between hair color appointments just for her to wash and style my hair!
They really care about how you look at this salon, they listen, and treat you like you matter.
Pros: Stylists and assistants know what they are doing
Cons: None

Great Place for Guys Too
by 703inaustin
I have Asian hair, and this causes me lot of problems when it comes to haircuts. I've gone to lots of cheap places where they do a terrible job, barber shops that do an okay job but not good enough for me to come back, as well as some nice salons here in Austin that cater to women, NOT men. Keith Kristofer Salon is the best place I've EVER been to. Most of my life when I get a haircut, I'm not completely satisfied. This is the FIRST time I left with smile on my face. I really had a good experience. My stylist was Larin. She listened to what I was looking for and spent a lot of time with me. My haircut was about 1.5 hours because she took her time to provide me with a quality cut as well as to understand the frustations I've had with my hair. She washed my hair at the beginning AND the end so I didn't have to rush home to take a shower. Another great thing is that she helped me to better understand the way my hair grows so that I can style it in a way that makes me look my best - how many stylists really do this? She told me to wash my hair every couple of days so I wouldn't dry out my scalp. And she made me a shopping list of products that best suit my hair. Larin has made a lifetime customer and I look forward to my next appointment.
Pros: Stylists listen to what you want and nice atmosphere
Cons: None

Keith Kristofer Client For Life!
by kmh0801
Keith Kristofer saved my life! Okay, okay, that's an exageration, but I feel like the wonderful ladies at Keith Kristofer did! My husband is currently deployed and will be arriving home to San Antonio this week. In an attempt to spruce up before his homecoming I decided to have my hair highlighted at a very expensive salon in San Antonio. In short, they destroyed my hair. I cried for three days and on the third night I emailed Keith Kristofer salon at around 11 pm. I received a response from Keith and Kris, the owners, at 12:30 am the same night. If that isn't customer service I don't know what is!?! The salon worked me in only 2 days later with Kris styling my hair. From the moment I arrived at the salon to the moment I left everyone at Keith Kristofer was friendly, welcoming and professional. Kris thoroughly discussed with me what I wanted to do, what had actually gone wrong at the other salon, and what kind of outcome I could expect. Kris, Kris' assistant and Jessica took wonderful care of me. I had three great women styling my hair and checking on my progress. Kris did not disappoint. My hair is beautiful! It is exactly what I was looking for! I actually liked my hair even more the second day than I did walking out of the salon! How amazing is that? I will not go anywhere else! I will not let anyone else touch my hair! I am a Keith Kristofer client for life, and I cannot wait for my husband to see it!
Pros: Professional, Friendly, Excellent Work
Cons: None

Great Salon!
by txcountrydoll
I have been going to this salon for over a year and a half now and I think it is the best salon in Austin! Deanne is someone I recommend whole-heartedly! She is easy to communicate with and she really listens to what you want. Everyone at the salon from Autumn at the front to the owners are very friendly and they all seem to strive to make sure everyone is comfortable and happy in their salon.
Another key note on this salon are the products they use. If you are looking for true customer service and high quality hair styling this is the place to be!
Pros: Great Customer Service, Great Products, and Great Hair Cuts

Shannon is amazing!!!!!!
by wb1204
I have been living in the Austin area for 4 years now and have never been able to find a salon that I liked. I am extremely picky and i don't just trust anyone with my hair. I would drive to Houston (my hometown) 3 hours away just to get my haircut by the same person i went to since high school. I have had several bad experiences trying to find a great place in Austin. I was recently introdcued to the Keith Krisopher Salon and I will never go anywhere else. Shannon did an amazing job cutting and coloring my hair!!!
Pros: They are great at everything they do!!!
Cons: None

I'm a happy camper - finally!
by Millacat
I have had "bad hair" for what seems like forever. I looked on Citysearch and based on the ratings and responses from those who were less than happy with the services (says a lot about customer service), I emailed the salon with my concerns and the fact that I have been unable to find someone to fix my "bad hair". I received a quick response from Keith who recommended that I come in for a complimentary consultation with Kris, which I did. She listened to me, offered suggestions and we scheduled an appointment. She gave me color and a cut that I love and can work with. I am a work in progress but think I have found my answer. The salon is welcoming, friendly and Kris could not have been nicer. Thanks to everyone!
Pros: All good!

A winner all the way.
by techiegirl6969
This is agreat salon. I've been around the proverbial "salon block" and I can honestly say this may be the best one yet. Chris, who I saw, REALLY knows her stuff. She is one of the owners I think and seems to work with some of the other stylists while she's working on her own customers, but this wasn't a problem for me. I want someone that knows what they are doing. I had a mess when I went in and she did a very exacting consultation and it was obvious from the start that she is a pro. The salon is clean and artsy and the front desk girls are professional and sweet. (and cute !) These people care about your experience, it's obvious. I intend to try other services at this salon.
Pros: Getting a parking spot was easy. NICE people. Chris is an expert and nice
Cons: none so far

ORIGINAL REVIEW -- (haircut disaster)
by victoria0202
REVISED-- I recieved a call from the owner of Keith Kristofer last week in response to my review. He explained that the questionaire that I filled out is returned to the business anonymous. He also said that I should have contacted them in the first place so that it could have been corrected. He was more than gracious and quite unexpectedly offered to refund the cost of my haircut. After speaking with him, I feel that my first impression was wrong and while as stated before my haircut was not good, I think that this salon truely cares about keeping the client happy. I work for an small business that has been in Austin for 25 years. I recognize and value the importance of excellent customer service. Thank you very much for taking the time to call me, it speaks volumes for your business!

Sara is the best!
by kngriffintx
Keith Kristofer Salon is a awesome salon for cutting and coloring hair. I live in Houston but I found this salon when I was working in Austin a lot. Now, I drive from Houston to Austin just to have my hair highlighted and cut here. I've tried so many salons in Houston and even Europe when I lived there and could never find anyone who could turn my dark brown hair to light blonde exactly the way I wanted it to look. They are priced as much as other high end salons but my stylist Sara really knows what she's doing and she has a great personality too. At my first appointment with Sara, she spent a lot of time talking with me to find out exactly wanted with my color and cut and she explained to me what she would do to achieve the look I wanted. Sara listened to my trials and tribulations with my hair and came up with a solution that's worked perfectly for my hair for the past 2 years. Her coloring knowledge is exceptional. She understands that everyone's hair is unique and coloring one way may not work the same way for another person's hair. She also understands that the number one priority for a customer being there is doing their hair, not chit chatting or gossiping like other stylists I've seen at other salons in the past. Sara pays incredible detail to the task of doing my hair, more than any other stylist I've been to, and it impresses me at every appointment I have with her. She hasn't slacked off after time, which a lot of stylist do when you become a regular customer (I hate that). The salon also uses high end haircare products like Kerastase, Shiseido, and Aquage. I use Kerastase at home so it's important for me that the salon I go to use it too (just my personal preference). I'm not sure how I'll find a stylist and salon like this one if I ever moved away from Texas again!

mixed feelings
by kkaustin
I tried Keith Kristofer and Kris specifically after reading the great reviews on citysearch. So I feel like I have an obligation to contribute to the reviews since they helped me. I'd had a horrible color experience and went to kris at Keith Kristofer for a color correction. She was meticulous, interested, thorough, careful, collaborative, all-around a great person to see for color correction. However, when I went back for a second hair color I didn't think her work was nearly as detail oriented as the first time; the highlights weren't as evenly applied and the color choice wasn't as flattering to my skin. Also, she had an assistant assessing when my color was finished and she didn't check it herself. I was a little disappointed with the second experience and felt like my color results were only "ok" and not as vibrant as I was expecting, which I told her. She asked me to please call her if I wasn't happy, and I really believe she stands behind her work. I'm just trying to decide if I'll return or not. If you need a color correction I highly recommend Kris. I am just trying to decide if it's the right fit for a long-term relationship. :) I found the cut to be good, though not my favorite cut I've ever had. The staff are all very nice and the salon is very pretty and relaxing.

Five Stars for me
by sarahben1977
I tried this salon at the end of last week and I was very pleased I saw Chris for color. This is a very friendly place with a terrific vibe and they are professional. Since checking out city search and coming back to do this review, I noticed the "terrible" review down below. Not sure who she saw, but I can't image anyone at this salon being "stuck up". Certainly not anyone I met. I can recommend Keith Kristopher Salon. I will be going to back.
Pros: Friendly. Easy to Park. Professional without all the salon stupid gossip
Cons: Hard to get in on short notice

I've seen the light!
by ettevy
I have repented of my sins, returned to Keith Kristofer Salon and look fantastic.
My first trip to Keith Kristofer resulted in the best haircut I'd ever had. I have very fine hair and had always left it way too long which made it shapeless and scraggly. I would let each new stylist cut more each time because I started to see how much better it looked with some shape to it but I never found the right person to make me feel WOW. Then Sarah came along and gave me a fantastic bob with all the soft layering I needed to add some oomph to my limp hair. No choppy texturing. It was PERFECT.
Fast forward to the next appointment and I was ready for cut and color. Now I'm a thrifty girl and I have to admit I had sticker shock when I got to the counter to settle up because of the cut + 2 process color?. but I did not have buyer's remorse. The color lasted forever!
For what ever reason I turned into a cheapskate and thought I could get a good cut at some of the other places in Austin. The last place I went I ended up with a 90s mom hair cut. No real nice shape to it and choppy texturing.
I realized I'd rather walk away a tiny bit lighter in the pockets than buyer's remorse so I went back to Keith Kristofer and Sarah Saenz (remember that name) fixed me again. I told her that I wanted to let my hair grow back out to just below my shoulders but I couldn't live with the funky shape I had right now. She agreed and gave me a sexay cut and said to come back in 10 weeks for the next session. And I can tell you after 9.5 weeks I'll still look great and that?s worth the $60.00.
Pros: happy and talented stylists, parking

I recently went to this Salon thinking it would be a good idea because my other Salon close to the area moved locations. I was so shocked and disappointed after going here. I spent a over $200 and the result was horrible!!!!! I will never go back here, it was the WORST HAIRDO of my life!!!! Not to mention the staff is very stuck up!

Great atmosphere, wonderful stylists
by mbcb2484
I just moved to Austin and had been driving back to Houston to get my hair done once a month. Well, a friend of mine just told me about Keith Kristopher Salon, so I wanted to try it out. Wonderful! I went to Herve and he did a fantastic job. I had bright blond hair and wanted to go darker, and Herve took the time to explain everything to me and told me exactly what he would do and how it would turn out. He talked me through every step, was enjoyable to talk to, and did a fabulous job on my color. I absolutely love my hair and have gotten so many compliments on it. I love the written estimate. While the haircut was a little on the pricey side, Herve gave me the best haircut I've ever had. I enjoyed every minute of my trip to the salon and will definitely recommend it to everyone.
Pros: atmosphere, parking, service

Awesome Color Correction
by sljmum
A newcomer to Austin, I needed a rescue salon that would "fix" a bad color job I had gotten at another local salon & was so glad to have found Carrie Cowan at Keith Kristofer's salon. Carrie, a color correction expert, did an awesome job getting my color back to the way I wanted it. She is truly a color genius. She was so friendly & I left feeling so uplifted by such a positive experience that I will definitely be back. It's one of those places you can just tell the employees enjoy working at & they pass those positive vibes onto the customers. Everyone I met was so welcoming & sincerely wanting to help.
Pros: I was able to get in with one day's notice
Cons: None

They nailed it!!!
by dustytrails
I have traveled many places and lived everywhere. I have been using the same place in Denver for 20 years, I have tried to change many times but always ended up flying back to Denver. A little over a year ago I swore I would never risk it again and have been traveling to Denver every 6 weeks no matter where I was. I read about this salon on City Search and decided to step up. Amber was wonderful! I had the best facial I have had in a long time. From the time I walked in the front door, I was treated very well. I am already planning my next facial. Next was hair and Teryn was all over it!! I was worried for about the first 3 seconds and that was it. The last time I tried someone new, they turned my hair pink, no kidding. That was why I was a little worried. When Teryn started talking and shook my hand, I knew that it was going to be fine. After the cut and color, it was more than fine. It was great!!!! I'm sold. Thank you so much for such a great experience from start to finish. My next hair trip will be with Teryn in 6 weeks!!!
Pros: Everything
Cons: non

Pick Teryn & Jaqueline !!!
by txhny
Have you ever walked into a salon with a designer handbag, dressed business professional, paid like 250 bucks for a haircut and color and STILL felt like everyone at the salon was looking down their nose at you? Well you won't find that at Keith Kristopher. What you will find is excellent staff, wonderful atmosphere and fantastic salon services.
Keith Kristopher is exactly the type of salon I want:
-contemporary, comfortable surroundings without being posh and snooty
-down to earth, talented stylists
-clean and comfortable nail care
-to feel and look great for a great price
-easy appointment scheduling
-open communication about fees, what I want, and what's best for my nails/hair, etc.
I've had my new 'do for 2 days and I got stopped on the street yesterday by a total stranger who raved about my hair. She couldn't believe the color wasn't natural and she loved the cut. (She was obviously a professional, and after chatting a bit she said, "I'm so sorry - can I touch your hair? It looks so healthy, I can't believe it is colored!" I would have passed along the business card Teryn gave me, but I'd already passed it on to one of my other new hair fans. (Don't worry, we got the number into her phone!)
I can't leave out Jacqueline (I hope I'm not butchering her name). I've gotten a manicure and pedicure from Jacqueline. It was perfect! I play soccer several times a week and I do lots of filing so my hands and feet need serious TLC. She did an excellent job and the stations were clean, comfy and cute. I felt like I was chatting with a girlfriend I'd known for years!
If you want an amazing experience, make an appointment now! Don't pay too much for a haircut or other service you aren't in love with -- call Keith Kristofer and make an appointment now!
Pros: Excellent service, value and experience
Cons: NONE!

Sara is the most amazing hairstylist ever!
by jk1266
I always get a great cut from Sara. She also makes good conversation, is very professional, and polite. The staff a Keith Kristofer are all friendly, I feel like I'm talking to a friend when they call about appointment scheduling, or for any reason. I've recommended a friend to Sara and he was very happy with the cut.
I've had 120 dollar hair cuts that weren't half as good as a cut from Sara, and it will cost you less than a third of that (for a basic men's cut).
I've never had a negative experience at Keith Kristofer, and I'm sure you won't either. Make sure you go, and ask for Sara!
Also, I forgot to mention. I've had my eyebrows waxed there a few times and that too is impeccable.
Pros: Amazing atmosphere, service, cut quality, and people.
Cons: None at all!

Excellent Experience!
by itgirl83
I saw Teryn (I'm not sure of the spelling) and she was awesome! She was super sweet and funny and gave me one the best cuts of my life. She took the time to work with my hair texture and talk with me about exactly what I wanted. I went from fairly long hair to pretty short and I love it! Everyone at the salon was friendly and said hi on their way by my chair. I had a really great experience overall here and would definitely recommend going to Keith Kristofer Salon and Spa, that is of course unless you don't like feeling like a movie star!
Pros: Friendly Staff, clean fun enviornment, safe feeling

True skill and attentive service
by cynpip
My young teen son has thick, curly hair. He let it grow out passed his shoulders, and we loved the look, but he needed to cut it to participate in athletics. Concerned that he would have a fuzzy "fro" we sought someone with experience cutting and styling male, curly hair. we found that person in Mycah at Keith Kristofer Salon. She took her time and gave an exquisite cut, and ensured that both my son and I were completely happy with her work.
The rest of the staff were equally professional and attentive. Overall a great experience. We will definitely return!

Best salon in town
by c231
A family member recommended this salon to me and I'm so glad she did. Herve cut my hair and Sunny did my highlights and I can't rave enough about how good my hair looks. You know you got a great cut when you can let it dry naturally and it still looks gorgeous. I'm a low-maintenance person and rarely have the time to blowout my hair. I told Herve I needed a cut that would look good even when I let it dry naturally and he understood right away. This morning I washed it, put a little mousse in it and was out the door and my hair looks fabulous and has tons of volume like Victoria Secret hair! This is the best hair cut I have ever had and I cannot recommend him enough. I also got highlights and they turned out beautifully. Sunny is a delight to talk to and she knows what she's doing. After a long consultation to find out exactly what I wanted she went straight to work. She did 2 shades of caramel - a light and a dark - which look perfect with my dark brown hair. The highlights are thin and subtle and the over-all effect is natural but not at all boring. Thank you Herve and Sunny!!
Pros: Easy to find, easy parking, wonderful non- pretentious staff and a hip atmosphere
Cons: None

BEST FACIALS IN TOWN! AMBER IS AMAZING!
by austinmusiclover
Growing up in Austin I have tried different facials all over town and this is by far the best facial in Austin . Amber is so friendly and nice and really goes out of her way to make you comfortable. Not only is the room relaxing, but the Sonya Dakar products really work. My skin is always smooth and glowing after I get a facial and looks amazing. (my skin is really sensitive so it is great to find someone who really understands my skin type) The facial is worth every cent and I even purchased some of the products to use at home. Amber went over which ones would work best for my skin and I have really seen a difference. (the face washes and scrubs are my favorite) Amber waxes my eyebrows too and they always look wonderful. I could rave about this place forever and it is great to find a salon with great people and services. I also get my hair done here and would never go anywhere else. AND I have to say that Marisa at the front is so accommodating and really helps out anyway she can. I highly recommend getting a facial/waxing with Amber (plus every other service) --you will not regret it!
Pros: friendly and skilled staff, beautiful salon, great products and location, plenty of parking
Cons: none

Impressed. happy
by kellyn1972
I am fairly new to Austin and this is the second salon I have tried. I was impressed by the people and the place. They are very nice and they certainly seem to know what they are doing. Any time I go to a "luxury" salon I worry that it will be arrogant and cold, but this salon is far from it. One thing they did that was different ffrom what I've experienced is the stylist quoted my price for color and hair cut during the consultation BEFORE they started on my hair. I havent seen that before but I liked it. No nasty surprises at the end. They seem professional in the way they go about things and it was a pleasant experience all the way around. I received hi-lites and lo-lites and a hair cut and I am happy with the results. Looking forward to trying some of their other services. I recommend.
Pros: Parking was a breeze. professional. pleasant

Second time is the charm
by gabeoak
Updated on Sep 19: Original review now truncated. The owners contacted me after my initial visit and invited me back to see a different stylist. We agreed my first experience was subpar via a series of professional and polite emails. I'm the first to admit everyone has a bad day. So I saw Kris today and she was excellent. She took the time to really understand my hair, what I wanted. She asked lots of questions to draw out how I like my hair. I appreciated that. Her attention to detail was exactly what I desire from a superior stylist. The staff and owners have been courteous, professional , and service oriented all along. Short story: First visit was bad luck. It happens in life. And this place endeavoured to make it right. Original review: I was shampood by another stylist who said my stylist was a little behind. Not a good sign. I expected my stylist to introduce himself and examine my hair before cutting it. After the shampoo I sat at her station to wait. After 15 minutes with wet head, my stylist left the bleaching going on in his chair. He went to work and 9 minutes later was finished, including his leaving to check on his bleaching. Men's haircuts are pretty straight forward. He onlymade a couple of texturing strokes with a razor but that was it for detail. To be fair, he gave a decent cut. Combine the wet head wait, the quick cut at a different station, and the lack of attention after completing my hair and this combines for a 3 star rating. Sure, it was a much better cut that I would get at a walk -in place. But I will be looking for someone and someplace where I receive the level of attention my appointment and my fee deserves. In sum: Polite, friendly, nice space. But men-- be aware that you *may* be a second class citizen here based on my experience. I wanted to like the place. And my cut was decent, as I said. The guy was talented and I wished I would have gotten a little more attention. Maybe you will have better luck than I did.
Pros: Polite, courteous staff. Appealing architecture.

great haircut and honest hairstylists
by ashole
I got a haircut from Sarah Saenz and it was great! She was recommended to me by a friend whose hair I like, so I knew I was probably going to get a good haircut. She didn't cut my hair too short, and made it look healthy again. I'll probably be getting haircuts from her from now on. The thing I liked best, actually, was that I was thinking about getting a deep conditioning treatment, and she honestly told me that it would probably be more beneficial for me to regularly do one myself at home. Then she pointed out some hair products that were all half off! I really don't like being taken advantage of or being ripped off, so I appreciated her candor and helping me get a good deal.

Professional
by daydreambeliever
One word - Professional. I have been once, and I will be back. I am very happy with my hair and eyebrows and I was impressed with the way I was treated. A fun, gorgeous place. This place is a safe bet if you frighten easily like me when it comes to choosing a new salon.
Pros: It was very easy to park and easy to get to
Cons: None that I can think of

Very Pleased
by abby666
I visited this salon about two weeks ago and found it very nice. Nice people, nice decor, nice everything. The work they did on my hair was gorgeous. I had highlites and a hair cut. Everyone I met there was professional and seemed quite knowledgeable. I will be back. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
Pros: I did not have to fight to park, which was a welcome relief

Nice People, Good Mani/pedis but if you go for hair Beware: Awful Cut and Color
by citygirl100
I'd been going to this salon for a long time for manicures and pedicures which are professionally done in a lovely, immaculate atmosphere. Everyone at this salon was so nice and helpful and the surroundings are so serene and pretty, that I decieded to try cut and color appointment with their top stylist. The service was very professional with an initial consultation after which I felt that my wants and needs were listened to. Not! The highlight color wasn't remotely what I wanted, highlights where chunky not subtle, and because the product hadn't been left on long enough to lift my hair beyond an orangey yellow, I was subjected to another unwanted (but charged for) service of a toner/glaze. The color never improved. The cut was beyond awful. Although this salon guarantees their work I was afraid that a return would just make things worse. So, spending another chunk of change, I retreated to my former stylist (who was closing shop-- that's why I tried Kristofer), for repair. Still looking for the perfect stylist in this town. Seems hopeless.
Pros: Great atmosphere - Beautiful Salon, Immaculate, Wonderful Staff, Great Mani/Pedis
Cons: Very Erratic Styling and Color services

best of the best
by coffeelove77
This salon is a class act. you will get excellent service here, your hair will look fablous and they always think about the integrity of your hair. The thing that sets them apart from most other salons, is they REALLY CARE. They genuinly want to make you happy and want you to walk out of there feeling confident. The prices may be higher , but you're getting guranteed services in a impeccably clean luxurious salon. I am a client here, and I always feel welcomed and most importantly My hair always looks great.
Pros: classy

They made me so happy.
by texaspharmstudent
The first time I went I got a really bad hair cut. The salon contacted me and very apologetically offered to fix my hair. Chris was so fantastic, nice, and understanding. She really made me feel comfortable and I appreciate her taking the time to do this for me.

Kris is fantastic
by gypsyheart33
Have been going to Kris at Keith Kristofer for over a year and I love her. She is so professional, never late and extremely educated on hair, she know more about color than anyone I have met. I get highlites and cuts from her and they are wonderful - plus she is fun to be around. She is the Kris in Kristofer (an owner) but her prices are reasonable for all the experience you get. A great salon all around, I don't think you can go wrong with any service there plus the front desk is nice.
Pros: a lot of parking and easy to get to except in rush hour
Cons: none i can think of

Best Hair Salon in Austin
by azbeauty
I moved from North East Texas in 2005. I tried different salons, paid high prices, went to the "best" so called colorist in Austin and surrounding areas. Finally I called my salon in Tyler and she recommended finding a salon that uses Keratase. So we looked online and booked with Sarah. She did a fantastic job on my daughter's hair, so I booked an appointment with her. She did a great job cutting and coloring my hair. I highly recommend this Sarah at this salon.

Highly Recommended - Michelle's haircuts and highlights are the best!
by ckdev
I actually found Keith Kristofer salon here on CitiSearch and I couldn't be happier with the find! I have been going to Michelle for about seven months now and she gives the best haircuts and her coloring skills can't be beat! She takes the time to really understand what you want and isn't afraid to offer suggestions on how she thinks you will look your best. And she's always right on! I always leave extremely happy and receive non-stop compliments on my hair color and cut. Coming from Dallas and Seattle, I actually think the prices are pretty affordable for the service you receive. The salon itself is nice enough to hold it's own with any salon in Austin, yet not at all snobby or prententious.

Most amazing salon
by onrigny
This salon is amazing, my sister Jinny just starting working here. I got my hair cut and dyed from her and ...gah I can't remember the other girls name, but that's besides the point I guess. What i'm trying to say is my hair looks great! Everyone is so layed back and nice there. If you live in Austin and want your hair done this is definately the place to go.
Oh! If you go to the direct website, the big picture of the girl in the leopard print shirt, that would be me!!!
Pros: Parking, nice staff, service is great, clean
Cons: Hmmm..... there really is none

Skilled Stylists, Relaxing atmosphere, Friendly Staff
by dbisko
Michelle is GREAT! I have long hair and it has been all one length for a very long time. I was interested in getting layers, but still hesitant due to previous bad experiences that scared me away from layers. I was recommended to her through a friend whose hair I love, so I decided to trust her with my long locks. She did such a great job! I have been to her twice now, and she has helped get my hair back to being healthy and shiny, and the layer cut she gave is perfect for how I want to style my hair. It looks great even if I do nothing to it. She listened to me about how I style my hair and the time I was willing to put in to maintain a style; she gave me a cut that works perfectly for me and my lifestyle. To top it, off she gave me the BEST blow-dry styled hair EVER! I highly recommend her. Fabulous job!
Pros: Skilled Stylists, friendly staff, personal treatment
Cons: a little pricey, but I guess you pay for quality

Salon that Men will Like
by tone1
They know how to treat men, professionally and punctually. They won't make you wait and understand your a man. Maybe it is just the difference between men and women but most men that I know just want a quality cut and a little attention to details. This salon has both.
One request to staff, consider more male centric services in the future plans!
Pros: Quality, professionalism and the right attitude toward male clents.
Cons: Consider more male services and consultation.

Love this place!!!
by mindyporter
I've been a client of Keith Kristofer since they opened and alway's had a wonderful experience. I've taken for granted the great staff and professional service. There has never been a time I walked out of the salon not feeling great about the service (and believe me I've try them all). Thanks to Kris for her talents and to the staff for treating you like like family.

Need a great haircut, go with Herve!
by ivanapapandrea
I have curly hair and it is very difficult for me to find a great haircut. I have a two year old and i am 8 month pregnant , so i am in a pony tail most of the time. I wanted a harcut that was easy to maintain and not do much to it. Finally I found a great hairstylist, Herve Lapuente. Herve listens to you and based on your face and hair type will do wonders. Trust his instincts and let his scissors do the magic. He is very cordial and professional and has great conversation. The salon is clean and the stuff is friendly and very attentive. I am very happy with the result, and my familiy loves it too.
Pros: great stuff, friendly, on time and cordial.Easy to find.
Cons: none

My salon for a year now. It's a good one.
by callie_mack
I have been going to see Kris at Keith Kristofer Salon for almost a year and thought I would add my 2cents . It is a wonderful place, they are always friendly, my hair always looks great and they are on time, which I appreciate. This isn't a fru fru place where you feel cheesy and fakeness. It's a real place (which is gorgeous) with real people. You won't do better in Austin, I can tell you that, because I did the salon circuit repeatedly until I landed here.

Go see Michelle
by jenbro
I had heard good things about Keith Kristofer so I decided to try it
out. I had an appointment with Michelle to get my hair colored and cut.
When I went in, my hair had some highlights but she knew exactly what
color would look best on me. She went lighter than I ever had, but I
loved it. She also styled my hair and it is so manageable I can even do
it at home. I have gotten so many compliments on my color and cut. I
recommend Michelle for her creativity, professionalism, and expertise.

Love it!!!
by missusash
I have had a really hard time finding a hair stylist ever since mine moved to atlanta 2 years ago. I have finally found a replacement, Michelle is awesome. Fantastic color, cut and probably the best blowouts I have ever had!!! The whole staff is extremely friendly and customer oriented. It is a little exspensive, but is well worth it.
Pros: Great Hair
Cons: price

Great natural-looking color
by cmm2025
I started going here about a year ago after three of my most stylish friends recommended it to me and I soon realized exactly why their hair always looked amazing. Its a little on the expensive side (especially being a broke college student...) but completely worth it because I always feel so much better when I leave. Ask for Sarah, shes really friendly and she does a great job doing natural looking highlights and keeping your color from turning brassy. She also helps you choose what shampoo and conditioner you should be using for your type of hair and how often you should wash and condition it and the salon has a whole wall of Kerastase products (I'm obsessed) and Mop as well (organic). You cant go wrong!
Pros: natural, sunkissed-looking highlights, very friendly and helpful staff
Cons: closed sunday and monday
