I'm not impressed by this salon... I've definitely had better. I also took in a picture and just didn't get the results I was looking for. I was in for 2 and a half hours for a touch up highlight and cut I ended up fixing when I got home. This salon pops up on top b/c it's a 'sponsored link', not b/c it's the best. I probably won't go back, and I won't recommend either.
Pros: easy to find, clean
Cons: bad music, took too long, overrated
Formerly at Sage, I've only seen her twice but her cuts are amazing (I'm very picky and admittedly hard to please) and she is super sweet. She really listens to what you want and has her offers her own helpful suggestions. The salon is beautiful too, very friendly staff and they use the Kerastase line. Janessa also does color too although I've yet to try that yet.
The asthetician there is also great. I wish I could remember her name but she has blond hair.
Pros: beautiful salon, great head massage, easy to get appt
Cons: a little expensive
I went to this salon based on the stellar reviews here and did get very nice highlights initially. However, when I went back for a haircut I was very disappointed in the outcome. In the end, my hair looked nothing like the photo I brought in. The stylist spent only about 7-10 minutes total on the haircut and then blew it dry into an awful, bouffant style that made me look like a country and western singer from the 70's. When I got home and washed and styled it myself I realized it looked almost exactly the same as when I went in - not what I was expecting for an $80 haircut. I had honestly received a much better haircut previously at Supercuts for $12. On a positive note, the receptionists and stylists are extremely friendly and the overall vibe of the salon is very welcoming.
Pros: nice atmosphere
I have followed Janessa to a few Austin Salons. She is a great stylist and colorist. I highly recommend her. Keith Kristofer is hands down my favourite salon in town. It is clean and modern but also very friendly and relaxed. I started with a brow wax and the esthetician was great as well. It is a perfect mix of talent and atmosphere. Also the prices are very reasonable. You will love it! A+
I moved to austin about a year ago and was still struggling to find someone excellent to trust my cut and color with. Ray updated my highlights for me and then gave me the most personalized haircut I've ever had. He didn't do ""textbook layers"" he looked at me and cut my hair according to my needs. He made my thick unruly hair manageable and made me look like a stylish young mom...exactly what I wanted! As far as a flat iron....the man is a miracle worker!
Pros: No wait, Friendly, Comfortable
Tiffany has done my hair for years and now I drive in from Houston every six weeks so she can do my cut and color. I would recommend her (and have!) to anyone. If you're looking for a new hairdresser, go see Tiffany!
I just relocated to Austin and found the Salon on Citysearch. I saw Kris, who is one of the owners and I am thrilled with both my cut and color. The salon is gorgeous and the people are friendly. This was the best color consultation I have ever had. Kris really has an in-depth understanding of color; a fact that is obvious once she starts talking. Her cut was marvelous as well. Two thumbs up for this salon.
I went into Keith Kristofer Salon to finally get my gray hair colored. I was very nervous. Tiffany was very sweet and very helpful during our consultation. She took the time to talk to me about upkeep and different options for covering or blending my gray. I choose to completely cover my gray w/ a rich brown, and we even added a few caramel highlights. I love it, and I look 10 years younger! I am so glad I decided to take the plunge and get rid of the gray! It was a great experience, and I highly recommend Tiffany to anyone!
I am from Dallas and I am a student here in Austin. I have not been able to find anyone in Austin who can do hair until I found Leah at Keith Kristofer's. She took time with me, listened me and delivered the best color and cut I have had since moving here. It has been almost a month since she did my hair and it still looks great. Leah is the Best!
I recently visited the salon and was impressed by the atmosphere. It is a very lovely salon, so I desided to stop in for a pedicure. I was so looking forward to this treat, but, as it turned out, I was sorely disappointed. The lady was nice enough, but she did not expholiate my feet (my heels are still dry and cracked), she didnt file my toenails(my big toenails are two different shapes), her massage was practically non-exeistant,and before you know it, I was shoved out the door(my toenails still wet). This service cost me 55 dollars. I have gone to the little cheep places and received a better pedicure. I will never patronize this salon again. I am angry.
Cons: below average, didnt provide good se
I'm glad I have finally found a great hairstylist -- Ray at Keith Kristofer Salon. Being a former hairdresser myself, it's always difficult to find a new stylist...Ray is the real deal. He gave my boring almost-one-length hair a updated style that works with my hair type. He also gave me some new ideas on styling it and taught me a few new tricks with a flat iron. An hour after leaving the salon, a lady stopped me to ask where I got my hair cut. I highly recommend Ray!
The work that Tiffany does is wonderful. She LISTENS to what YOU want. I have taken my mom, my mother-in-law and my soon to be sister-in-law all to her and they were extremely pleased. The salon is gorgeous and the people are so friendly and real. I had my eyebrows done once and it was the most thorough job I have ever had done -- worth every penny!
Go try 'em out! :-)
I went to K/K for a facial and as other reviewers have noted - their attitude is completely welcoming and non-snooty. They aesthetician who I worked with (Becky) was wonderful, always checked on my comfort, and answered all my little skin questions. Its a lot of money to pay, but with this positive experience I will definitely go back to K/K (and Becky) for my next facial!
Pros: Friendly, Know their stuff, Non-pushy
Cons: High end of $ range
This place is incredible! I'm really picky about my hair and had not had it colored professionally before simply because I like it being really dark brown. Sarah Saenz was my stylist and we ended up doing partial highlights that were honey blond and light brown. She made it turn out amazing!!! She seemed to know exactly what I wanted after I tried to describe it to her. The color is gorgeous, and even my clueless guy friends have noticed and commented on how it looks. I will definitely be going back everytime I want my hair colored! The atmosphere of the salon is very laid-back and I found it very refreshing how friendly all of the people were. I would recommend that everyone check out this salon at least once. You will not regret it! :-)
Pros: Excellent Color, Relaxed Atmosphere, Friendly Staff
I've lived in Austin for the past seven years and have salon hopped for most of that time. Since I have long hair and want to keep the length, most stylists end up giving me the same exact haircut no matter where I go. I tried Keith Kistofer today after reading the Citysearch reviews, and I absolutely LOVE my haircut! Sarah Saenz was my stylist and she listened to what I didn't like about my previous hairstyle and then did some magic- my hair looks great! The best part is that it is still long, but it's very different than how I previously had it cut. The only thing I'm sad about is that it's taken me SEVEN years to find a great hairsalon in Austin! Can't wait to try their brow shaping after reading the reviews on here!
Pros: Great Stylist, Close to Campus, Calming Atmosphere
Just Wonderful. Beautiful, great people, super hair, brow waxing with real attention to detail and not stuck up. Very busy when I was there and still I didn't feel like I was being rushed through like so much cattle. My new salon. Yeah!
Tiffany is the queen of all things hair...I am super picky and she's gone out of her way to understand my likes and dislikes and to accomodate my wishes. I've got tons of fine hair, love highlights but don't want to look like I've got them...she makes it happen. She's also works with the style for me. I never know exactly what I want, but somehow Tiffany's telepathy lets her know what I need.
The estheticians are fabulous! Your skin will thank you and you'll glow for days!
Finally, a salon who caters to those who prefer natural nails! My hands look and feel great. Good advice about maintenance, follow it...it works!
This salon is the most accomodating of the many to which I've gone. Everyone is cordial, friendly, and helpful. No high pressure, reasonably priced for the quality of service...nice line of prodcuts. Lovely atmosphere.
Pros: Exceptional service, Convenient, Professional
I have just relocated from Manhattan and was looking for a great salon. Quite honestly, I was worried about finding the same color expertise I have become used to in ""Salon ""Mecca"", but let me tell you, this girl knows what she is doing. I went to Keith Kristofer Salon after seeing the nice reviews here and was very pleasantly surprised by the in-depth knowledge she has and the fact that she took time to educate me on what would work and what would not be as ""successful."" ( Her polite way of telling me my hair wouldn't stand up to what I was asking for ) . If you are searching for someone that really understands color as opposed to someone that just puts it on your hair, try Kris.
I have been a devoted customer of this salon for two years now. \r
It seems as though everyone in the place enjoys making you feel welcomed - and they succeed. Kris can work magic with color and cut, and will take time to help you find the style that's right for you. The salon itself is a beautiful place, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. \r
If you're looking for an excellent salon that will value you as a customer, I highly recommend Keith Kristofer's. I am so happy I found them.\r
Pros: Beautiful shop, Skilled/happy staff, Excellent service, Easy parking
I can vouch for this salon. After several attempts around town, I found Keith Kristofer Salon. I had my hair done by Kris. After a great consultation (she is a wonderful listener) and some great ideas from her, I had highlights, low lights and a hair cut. I am very happy with my hair and with the way I was treated.
I am new to town and was looking for a good salon. I tried Keith Kristofer based on the other reviews here and was not disappointed I highly recommend it. My color and my haircut turned out great and the people are not pretentious. I will definitely go back.
I have followed Tiffany Hardwick to three salons and this one is nice! Tiffany is a awesome color and stylist and I Highly recommend her to anyone who wants great color. I just sit in the chair and tell her to do whatever she thinks will look good and I have not been dissapointed yet! She always works with my schedule and gets me appointments when I need them. Give her a try and I bet you love what she does!
Pros: Great service, Great prices
This is a cool place. I have been all over in Austin and Dallas and I really like this salon. It's an elegant, very laid back atmosphere and they did fanstastic color on me. As for pricey, (one of the other reviews I read), it's really not. Compare with other well known salons and you will see they are actually very reasonable. The Kerestase product line they carry is pricey, but it's pricey everywhere unfortunately. Why are salon products so expensive anyway?
I've lived in Austin for 4 years and have gone to a number of waxers and even tried threading. Nobody could get my brows back to the right shape and thickness until I went to Amber Harrell at Keith Kristofer. Previous people I had gone to made my brows too thin and messed up my arches. Amber really listened when I told her how I wanted my brows to look and now I can honestly say they look better than they ever have. I highly recommend Amber if you want your brows to look fabulous!
Pros: Brow magic
I went to Keith Kristopher Salon three weeks ago and was impressed. I am fairly new to Austin and I have tried several other salons, but I like this one best so far. I had my hair cut and colored, and I have also had a brow wax hehre. I agree with the other reviews on this site - the talent and service I experienced was excellent. An added bonus is that the people that work there are friendly and ""real"". This is a place I will recommend to friends as soon as I have some.
If you are tired of sylists who don't listen or don't deliver what they promise, then this salon is your salvation. You'll have fun, you'll look awesome... what more could you ask for?
Pros: friendly, honest, knowledgeable
I found the salon through citysearch and saw all the wonderful reviews. I had been seeing my regular stylist but felt like he wasn't listening to me anymore. So I tried this salon for a haircut. I was put with Berkley and she talked to me about all the different options for my hair. She was friendly and gave me a great haircut. Two weeks later and I am still loving it. The salon is very beautiful and the front desk was very nice. Everyone should try this great new place.
I just spent two days at this salon. The first day I had a facial, manicure, pedicure and brow shaping by Jennifer and Cindy and all services were fantastic. The second day, I had my hair razor cut and highlighted by Sarah, and the results were absolutely gorgeous. This is the best and most pleasant salon I have been in.
I have lived in Austin since 85 and have been to the best salons; Bella, Jackson and Ruiz, Spa at the Lake on a never ending search for someone that understood fine blonde hair. Finally I was referred to Tiffany Hardwick! She highlighted my hair repeatedly with phenominal results, kept it looking great when I grew it longer and always squeezed me in when I had surprise events and meetings.
I found Keith Kristofer salon on this site after a horrendous experience at another supposedly top of the line Austin salon that left my hair a complete fried mess. I was really panicked and angry, but this salon worked me in, stayed late and did a wonderful job on my hair. It looks great, it feels so much better and I'm happy. I recommend this salon, they seem to really undertand what is good for your hair and what is not.
Pros: Hair Knowledge, Nice People, Don't feed you a line
Like many others, I decided to visit this salon based on the reviews here. I'm not a ""salon type of girl,"" but I have complicated hair, so I have to endure the salon atmosphere every 2-3 months. In most salons I've been to in Austin, I spend most of my time wishing they'd just hurry up so I could get the heck outta there, but here, I hardly knew an hour and a half had past. I had great, real conversation with a talented stylist and left with a fantastic haircut. Haircuts always look great when you first leave the salon, so I've waited three weeks to write this review to make sure I still loved the cut and I do!
I also found this salon on this site. I had hilights and I think they are they best I have had. Also. I was treated like a friend. I could recomend this salon to anyone that wants a high class salon that does not seem stuffy.
I just changed salons. I found this one on Citysearch and tried it because the reviews said it was good and the people were nice. I have to say, it's all true. I am very happy with my hair and their service is impeccable. This place is pretty different from what I've been used too. It's nice to feel like your salon actually cares about making you happy.
A friend told me about this amazing salon and I thought that her hair always looked great so I would give it a try. I have tried many times to have my brown hair highlighted. It always turns orange. I want to look like JLo not Bozo. Tiffany worked her magic and JLo does not have nothing on me! I love it! She actually listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted and more. The whole salon bent over backwards to make me feel welcome. Run don't walk to this new gem of a salon in Westlake!
Pros: customer service, great products, atmosphere
I Love my hair! I was stuck in such a rut with my hair. I never did anything different my hair looked the same since i was in the seventh grade. I had a friend recomend Leah Webb at Keith Kristofer salon, and i am amazed! She sat down and talked about what i wanted and i am so happy with the results. I left with beautiful ""sunkissed"" highlights that look so natural and cut that i can actually style myself because Leah actually explained what she was doing and how i can do it at home. I was so impressed.
The absolute best skin care and brow shaping I have had anywhere. period. Their therapists are awesome and the place is gorgeous. The room is huge and relaxing and they made me feel wonderfully welcome. They use some kind of French wax (not sure about what) and claim it hurts less than some types, and guess what? It's true. I will be trying the hair services, I hear they are also excellent.
Pros: highly skilled, nice as can be
I heard this was the new ""HOT"" salon, which normally wouldn't impress me much, but it came recommended so I went. Holy cow. It is wonderful. I wouldn't describe it as HOT though. This place isn't your standard pretentious face place with lots of self important pin head stylists flitting around. They exude what I took as a quiet confidence that you can feel the minute you walk in the door. I had my hair cut and it was excellent. Also, if you want to experience the difference between eyebrow shaping and ""getting waxed"", this is the place to go. They are nice, professional and reasonably priced considering what they offer. A classy joint. They close really early on Saturday though, so be warned.
Pros: they are good, they are professional, they are sweet
Took a huge leap of faith and tried something new because I heard from a friend they were good - and they are. Got an awesome ""choppy"" razor cut and super highlights to go with it. Good vibe too. Nice people. Quiver in envy before me girls. I have a new salon!!
Pros: SKILZ, NICE, YEAH PARKING WAS EASY
This salon was recommended to me by two friends and I was scared to go anywhere after my last experience. I knew my hair was in bad shape (about four colors none of which were from this earth) but they were able to get it back in shape. They didn't feed me a line either, they told me this was going to be a process and it took some time, but I was really surprised at how good my hair looked when I left. They also explained what had gone wrong in the first place and what I was doing that was damaging my hair, so I won't make that mistake again. I will be going back. I see the other reviews on here say they are very nice, and that's true.
Pros: great color, educated me, reasonably priced
I have been going to Kris to have my hair done for years. She is the only hairdresser that does exactly what I ask and in a timely manner. She's kind, professional and keeps up with current styles. She's also not afraid to tell you the truth when asked - I love going to have my hair colored and cut - the salon is beautiful and the staff is super - I know the the compliments are coming soon after I see them! Go see them and have a great day for yourself!
I was fairly new to the Austin area and was desperate to find hair stylist. I was introduced to the Keith Kristopher Salon by a friend and I am so grateful for the recomendation. Kris is an amazing stylist. I like to change things up with my hair and highlights and I trust Kris so much that I let her do anything and my hair always looks great. Also, there is an added bonus. The entire staff is great and you get to look at some amazing jewelry that is on display by local designers while your hair is processing.
Get intimidated when you walk into a salon? Not this place. I have never felt so at home and relaxed in a salon. The owners are the nicest, easiest going people you will ever meet and the staff is equally unpretentious. I've been to tons of salons in Westlake and downtown and this one is by far the best!
I almost didn't write this review for purely selfish reasons. I have been to quite a few ""high-end"" salons and most of the bigger and better known salons in Austin, and I can tell you, they all better watch out. This is a great salon. They know their stuff and they really are nice.
It seems like their prices are a little lower than the other high profile salons in town, so I have to wonder how long that will last, but right now this is a GREAT value. My only frustration is that I know in the future I am going to have hell getting an appointment. I think this is going to be THE place to go in Austin once the word gets out.
Pros: beautiful, great atmosphere, super hair
The moment you walk in the door, you are just treated like the most special person in the room. I was so pleased with the genuine customer care I received! The cut and color was perfect. The Stylist actually listened to me, and worked with me on the overall look I wanted. They never pressured me to buy products, even though I did since I love Kerastase hair products. I am telling all my friends.
Wow. This place is not only gorgeous, but the people are incredibly friendly. I was thrilled with my color and cut so I'm going back for a facial. When I was there, I think everybody in the place said hello to me, which was a nice change of pace for me in Austin. You walk in, take a look around and think oh god, this is going to cost me a fortune, but the prices are really reasonable and no one tried to pressure me into buying anything which is a pet peeve of mine. I'm going back. I give it a 10 !
Pros: Friendly, Tons of Parking, Super Highlights
