Ogle School Of Hair Skin Nails is not worth going back.

by Minu A. B.

I've taken my daughter to this salon before. I thought maybe since they were less expensive than the norm to work on my daughter's hair (who has extremely thick and coarse hair), I found the staff to be rude. Not only were they rude but also did not do what they suggested they were going to do.

I had an appt. to take my daughter to get her hair washed and done. When my daughter and I walked in my daughter's hair was dry and in a pony-tail; we waited for approximately 30 minutes just to be told that we would have to come back in an hour. After returning an hour later, we had someone to work on my daughter's hair. Everything was okay up until they were done washing my daughter's hair. Once they were done washing her hair, one of the supervisor's told the stylist that there wasn't enough time to work on my daughter's hair! My daughter's hair was towel dried but still wet. Although they did give me a complimentary visit for the next day to finish; I did not accept. I was highly upset at the fact that they would even entertain the idea of them starting something that they weren't going to finish. Not only that but the fact that I was there when I was supposed to be and then they decide they don't have time to finish. Needless to say, I turned down the complimentary visit and demanded that they at the least blow dry her hair and place her hair in back in a pony-tail.

My daughter and I left there quite annoyed and shocked at the fact that they would even suggest us leaving the facility with her hair wet and not styled. After everything was said and done, I had gotten my daughter's hair dried and placed in a pony-tail as she had it prior it being washed. I also obtained the the names and numbers of the supervisor's boss to complain of the bad experience I had.

It's Your Hair.........

by Barbara M.

I would appreciate insight into how to receive the "premium" services of the senior students at Ogle.
Is there a secret handshake or a magic word? Is it necessary to "look the part" or know someone?
I do not live in Highland Park, drive a luxury vehicle, or flaunt expensive purses and jewelry although these characteristics seem to ensure VIP service from senior students.
I have never written a bad check, ALWAYS tip $20.00 for hair services (highlights), and am at a total loss to understand why I receive such horrible service. I have even spoken with several supervisors that were completely apathetic.
I am aware that this is a teaching institution but I recently paid $75.00 for partial highlights that were very poorly executed (I'll be happy to supply a photo). The student did not apply the bleach accurately at the hair root and after two other students stepped in and HAD to add several applications of toner, the color looks strange and the highlighting haphazard. The entire process took 4 hours for shoulder length hair.
I did not save any money by going to Ogle and would not recommend their services.

Lesson learned! Never again...

by Dan'l S.

First of all, I am NOT a miserable person as stated in the review below. Now, that said, I will tell of my visit to Ogle.

I made an appointment for a facial and SPA pedicure. I specifically asked for a LEVEL 3 student and was told that would not be a problem.

My facial was fine - no complaints. My pedicure and manicure are different stories. These students had only been at the school for about a month. Most definitely they were not a Level 3's. I promise, a ten-year-old could have done a better job! My nail polish came off the next day (no wonder, she polished my nails without removing the message lotion!). Both the manicure and pedicure consisted of filing, pushing cuticles back, a light message and polish.

Long story short.... lesson learned. You really do get what you pay for!

Ogle School Of Hair

by lola g.

To the people who have complained on this page...You're going to a beauty SCHOOL!!!!!!! If you want outstanding cut/color you go to a salon in highland park or uptown, even there you could get a botched up job! You sound like NIGHTMARE clients that any stylist would DREAD to have in their chair. These people are STUDENTS and it's ignorant people like you that make their educational experience a nightmare and they dread coming to school. GET A LIFE and go to a REAL salon!! You obviously do not have a CLUE about good hair cuts and color or else you wouldn't be a cheapass by going to a school. I would NEVER get my hair/nails done at a beauty school!!!
People like you always try to get something for nothing and would complain even if Vidal Sassoon himself cut and colored your hair!! What a joke! Stop bothering these poor kids and just don't go to Ogle..it sure would make their life alot easier! You Miserable people aren't happy with anything.

DONT go to school here!!!!!!

by Private U.

This is THE WORST school you could possibly go to to become an Esthetician OR Cosmetologist. The staff is totally unprofessional and on a major power trip(Especially the Director, YIKES!). They make your already horrific experience even WORSE by degrading and demeaning you on every possible occasion, YES, even in front of customers. I went to the NEW Ogle school, in North Dallas. If you are Black, this is an okay school for you, NOT because the school is ghetto, its actually quite nice looking, but because the Director is racist and she will let you do things that the other students cant. Like talk on your cell phone in the classroom, wear clothes that are out of dress code, come in late and things like that. PLEASE people, dont get ripped off on your education like my class and myself were. The admissions people tricked me into going here too, they say EXACTLY what you want to hear, and it couldn't be further from the truth!!!!! LOOK ELSEWHERE!

Terrible, Horrible, Horrific

by Hannah W.

They will mess up your pedicure and rationalize it that a student did it, therefore you leave AND PAY for their crappy job. Moreover, they don't do normal pedis: don't use nail cutter, don't massage feet well, don't massage legs, don't get rid of any dead skin on bottom or anywhere else on feet. THEY DON'T TELL YOU THIS BEFOREHAND. Don't even think of getting a french pedi--did mine worse than my 3 year old would. Took 10 minutes to even locate the white polish, even though this is what I made my appt for. I gave up and paid.

Horrible Experience

by Anonymous

I understand that this is a school, and you get what you pay for. That being said I will tell you my horrible experience.

I went in to Ogle asking for a simple dye and trim. I was in the salon from 9 am - 1:30 pm. My hair is brown and I dye it all the time because I prefer a darker black/brown. The color came out ok, but darker that I asked for because it is more of a jet black. The color is satisfactory, however the trim was not. I told the stylist to part my hair straight down the center (because thats how I style it everyday) and I told the stylist that I also straighten it everyday. I asked the stylist just to trim my dead ends and give me a "refresh". The stylist did ok on the right side of my hair, however the left side was totally butched. I have angled layers that start a little past my chin and go down to my shoulders. He didn't trim but rather butchered where my layers were and cut everything on the left side uneven. Its shorter than the right side and very obvious since I have layers starting right below my chin. I didn't realize what he had done because he blowdryed my hair back away from my face, which is not my normal style and disguised the uneven, messed up cut.

I called the school back when I realized their mistake. My apppointment was on a Saturday and I called on a Tuesday (they aren't open on Sundays or Mondays) and I asked to speak to a teacher since I figured they would know how to help me. The teacher responded with I don't know let me transfer you to a student to talk about setting up an appointment. I am not sure if there will be a charge or not.... The student she handed the phone told me the earliest time I could come in was on Friday. I said that wouldn't work since I am going on vacation that weekend. He said that the appointment has to be with the student since it is a school. I said yes that is understandable, but since the student's and my schedules do not work out, can I make the appointment with someone else? The student was rude and told me no that I cannot.

Now I understand that this is a school, but I am still paying for a service, I am still a customer, and I would expect to be treated like one. Likewise, I would assume that as they "teach" their students how to become a hair stylist, that they would teach their students the good business aspect of it as well. AND YOU DO NOT TREAT CUSTOMERS THAT WAY!! WHEN YOU MESS UP YOU DON'T MAKE THE CUSTOMER PAY! AND YOU WORK WITH THEM TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY TO FIX IT!!

Please do not go here. It is very unorganized, and the teachers and students are rude and uneducated. Trust me if you want to save your hair.

I am a soon to be graduatein July 2008 of the "new" Ogle under "new" management. I would not reccommend this school to anyone. I have struggled through too many false claims and promises given to us students and we continue to have to TEACH ourselves I couldn't qit/transfer because after 30 days I would have owed too much!. I STRONGLY advise any future students to catch a former or present student outside and ask for their opinion of Ogle. I am so Glad to be almost out of here! Please do your research and dont beleive the "sell". Remember ask STUDENTS former/present and you will get the real truth.

Cuts, Manis and Pedis

by Kristi P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,090

This is a very nice school. They do take walk-ins, but I wouldn't recommend it. You can spend a long time waiting for a superivised technician to be free.

However, the cuts are professional quality and the pedicures are the same as anywhere else - but without the spa prices.

Great Prices

by Jana F. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,116

Ogle is a good place to go for inexpensive haircuts, hair color, manicures, pedicures, etc. Students are the hairdressers, but there are instructors that go around and supervise what is being done. I recommend making an appointment ahead of time.
