Message from Club de Ville

Club de Ville is located in the Red River District in downtown Austin. The tree-lined patio at this outdoor Austin club is nestled into a natural limestone cliff - it's so pretty that you'll forget you're at a bar. The interior is lit low with a mysterious glow. Cocktails are served with a smile from the best mixologists in town. Every other Tuesday, the lovely Miss Emily hosts our Karaoke Under The Stars. The Club's a great place to unwind with some drinks after work, congregate with friends, have a cozy date, or just take on the evening. Happy Hour at Club de Ville is from Monday through Friday 5-8pm and brings out the beautiful locals. One of Club de Ville main draws is one of the best patios in downtown Austin. Come in with friends or co-workers and enjoy a cocktail at Club de Ville today. Visit them on My Space for special events and more information.

In Short
An even mix of Austin's pretty people and regular folks makes up the crowd. Set below a limestone cliff, De Ville's large courtyard area is furnished with tables and chairs from Grandma's backyard. The bar fills up quickly Thursday through Sunday evenings, with quite a bit of swank but very little pretense. During daylight hours, drinks are purchased at the bar. In the evening, servers with the best memories in Austin work the patio area.

Key Points

  • Karaoke Every Thurs
  • Happy Hour Mon - Fri
  • Live Music

The Inside Scoop

  1. When to Go - Think you're a future "American Idol" karaoke night is held on Thursdays and every other Tuesday; call club for information.
  2. Happy Hour - Happy hour is all day on Monday and Tue-Fri 5pm to 7pm and includes $1 off all well liquor and local microbrews.
  3. The Extras - Fashion shows are held several times a year for charity, with models wearing local designer apparel. Arrive extremely early--they draw big crowds.

club deville outdoors setting is superior!!!

by Rude M.

I recently went there with a group of friends and had the best bartender ever. They know their drinks. And the funky outdoor setting was perfect for a large group. Highly recommend.

Great Weekend Bar

by Anonymous

With a chill atmosphere and a great patio area Club De Ville is one of my favorite bars in Austin. The drinks are reasonably priced and you may even luck out and hear some live music. I've even seen celebrities there--that means it's got to be cool.

WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD CHARGE

by sorted_out

Everything they say is true about this bar. I love this bar- or used to, until they charged me double on my credit card for my bar tab, causing my bank account to overdraft and incur multiple non-sufficient funds charges. I would have saved writing this review until I spoke with the manager and given him/her a chance to respond, but it seems the manager spends 1 mystery hour per week there and the employees who have answered my calls don't seem concerned about tracking him down for me. So yeah, enjoy Club de Ville, but you might want to pay with cash.

Club Deville sans Miss Emily

by tinywonder

I think Club Deville is great with strong drinks and the atmosphere to match. The best improvement myself and several friends have noted as of late: Miss Emily no longer frequents and/or has her karaoke there. Don't get me wrong, I like karaoke, and most people, but Miss Emily's attitude toward the patrons was horrible! Several occasions I witnessed people being degraded, pushed, threatened, by her and for no apparent reason. Maybe people also didn't want to pay to see her in particular? A suggestion would be karaoke or something like it with a fresher face.

Pros: staff and stiff drinks

Cons: parking

i heart deville

by nonothegirlfriend

my fav bar, hands down. the staff rules (especially notable is the extra sassy object of everyone's desire, lana) the drinks are stiff, the music isn't a random mix of crappy jam bands and the place isn't overrun by frat boys run wild. people here are actually, dare i say it, friendly. what a concept. when you're tired of the same sixth street scene, this is the place to be.

Pros: staff, service, music

Cons: parking

86 Karaoke

by shaylaeatsbugs

Hey guys, sorry to break the news but we haven't had karoke here on a regular basis in over a year. It was popular for awhile, but no one seems to want to pay a cover to hear non-professional crooning and we needed to rent a PA and pay the DJ.

We do host karaoke with a live band sporadically for special occasions so keep and eye out for posters advertising it, and other carefully-chosen live bands. Come play on the patio where the dark red lighting makes everyone look hot, the drinks aren't watered down and the playlist isn't controlled by people who will play "Hotel California" twice an hour.

p.s. I promise the barstaff does not hate you.

Pros: Away from 6th , pleasant atmosphere, stiff drinks

Cons: bad when rainy

Much love.

by wherewegather

I have been here in Austin for 5 years now and there is not a bar in Austin like this one. The staff is perfect. The girls that work the bar and wait are beautifull. The drinks are stiff and worth every penny. The music this great. If you hate a yuppie then don't worry they are gone by 10p. The crowd after 10p is the best crowd around.

Pros: drinks, staff, music

Cons: none, none, none

Nice atmosphere, stiff drinks.

by josh

The indoor area is extra dark, making it a great spot for a hidden rendezvous. The back patio is built into a sheer cliff and it is usually really crowded, but people are cool about sharing tables.

Austin's Version of the Senfeld Soup Nazi

by astuteandwelltraveled

While sitting below the limestone cliff, under the Spanish style dangling lights makes for the best outdoor bar scene in Austin, the bartenders and wait staff of this groovy joint are renown for their terribly rude treatment of customers. Be ready to feel like customer service is not required for their employees. No soup for you!

Pros: outside setting, seating availability, groovy inside

Cons: customer service, employee attitude, welcoming atmosphere

Love DeVille

by Angle_of_Mercy

Oh yeah. It's sexy. It's sexy like... watching someone with perfect lips tell a great joke. It's dark on the inside and bright outside. The seating is limited and consists mostly of metal outdoor chairs. Most of the seating is outside so bring a jacket if it's cold out. The bar staff is great and cute. The drinks are strong so take it easy and tip well.

Pros: Lana's kissable smile, Potent drinks, Smart folk

Cons: Limited seating

The best staff in Austin

by nerdyj

DeVille has the best damn staff in Austin. Lana, Dan, Joe, John et al remember everything and always have my drink ready by the time I get to the bar. Also, the staff controls the music and they have the best taste in the city. The regulars are friendly and entertaining. If I had to take one Austin bar to a desert island with me, this would be the one.

Pros: strong drinks, great staff, regulars

Cons: crowded

Wunder-Bar

by quadrapalegic_and_happy

Deville is what I think of when I try to imagine the unholy offspring of David Lynch and Lawrence Welk, if their recombinant DNA were injected into the same spermshake, then allowed to ferment in the surroagte womb/playpen of Mimi VanDoren. With infernal red lighting, truly eclectic music, and Captain Hook drinks at Cabin Boy prices, it's unapologetically designed to inflame the senses. Ground zero for the best margaritas in Austin, it's where you want to be. And, like a crack-addicted lot lizard, you'll come crawlin' back for more.

Pros: great staff, laid back, dark (I'm ugly)

Cons: too close to 6th, they close, mens' room's well lit

BEST BARTENDER ON EARTH!

by katzenfrau

Lana....she's absolutely fabulous. She cannot make a drink I wouldn't like! At least she hasn't yet. She's welcoming and warm and terribly cute. The other tenders at the bar are nice, too! The set up is interesting with the "rock wall" out back. I have been all over the globe and I really enjoy my time spent at DeVille. Males me glad to be in Austin. GO SEE LANA....SHE'S WONDERFUL!

Pros: LANA, WORLD'S BEST!, The mixed crowd, lighting and lay out

Cons: lil parking lot

Cool but Classless

by mrmoneybags16

I like Club de Ville and all, but with all the fashion shows and trendy things that go on there, it looks pretty pathetic having these "hip" events going on with a mounted swordfish hanging over the crowd...not very classy. They need to redecorate with a hip and trendy edge seen in other hip cities like LA and NYC. Austin has enough "average joe" bars and clubs, so it would not hurt a bit to redesign this one for the trendy crowd.

De Ville is Real

This place is very good. Great atmosphere in the courtyard and good drinks make it perfect for taking a date or meeting new people. Check this place out for sure. Props to the fisherman.

Cons: not well known

Perfect place for music

by jeremyreed_citysearch

Though they don't utilize it enough, this is the perfect place for live music. Outside with the limestone backdrop, I saw some of the best shows including the Supersuckers and Spoon. But usually, the patio is just used for mingling less the live music. This is not a bad thing, though, because it truly is one of the best places in Austin to have a drink outside at night.

Pros: great stage

Cons: too cool

fun patio

by nathanstull_citysearch

One word: Karaoke. Live it, love it, sing it. I like the huge limestone wall that encloses the large patio. Inside can get mighty congested and smoky and the bartenders are very busy. But they are quick too and the drinks are always good. I also like this location because if the crowd is lame, you can keep walking along Red River until you find something to your taste.

Pros: location, patio, crowd

Cons: packed

great outdoor patio

by jpanderson_citysearch

Hung out here last Friday night with some friends, and thought it was a great spot. The patio's roomy--though tables fill quickly--and service was great. It seems there was always a waitress there waiting to take your order. Inside's very dark, so if you'd rather not see or be seen, that's the place to go. All in all, a groovy spot for late-night Austin people-watching.

Pros: large patio, good service, fun crowd
