The staff does not know nearly as much as they let on. I pointed out a Boa Constrictor that obviously had mites and even pointed the mites out. The guy shrugged his shoulders and put the snake right back into its cage. The want almost $5 for FROZEN feeder mice, ridiculous. Their fish are overpriced, their rodents are over priced and all of their supplies are overpriced. Petsmart, as much as i hate to say it, is a much better option when shopping for pets or supplies in Abilene.
some of the freshwater fish are higher priced than petsmart, so are some of the tanks. petsmart employees know some but pams employees know a lot more, more rounded knowledge. some of the fish equipment is as high as 10$ higher than petsmart. they also have feeder mice and rats for your snakes cheaper than petsmart, petsmart only has high priced live big rats but no mice or pinkies and frozen. i think there ok so i would recommend going there for info and some equipment and Your worms (supers and mealies) and crickets and go to petsmart for the low priced Everything else
Very unprofessional. Was cussed out because we were telling someone about a local non-profit aquarium club. They were starting up a new aquarium they had just bought used and were going to Pam's to pick up accessories for it. We were the ones that told them to go to Pam's not Petsmart. We now only tell people to go to Petsmart.
It is very unfortunate that this is the only ma and pa shop in Abilene to go for general pet needs. I always support the local stores but now find myself at Petsmart just because of their knowledge and customer care. Abilene, we need a new pet store to put Pam's in check. Would not recommend going back to Pam's.
Shopped at Pam's the first time today. Found them to be very friendly and helpful. They don't carry my brand of dog food (Iams) but they actually have a better brand (Natural Balance) for about 5 dollars less than PetSmart. As for the negative reviews on this site. I always just take into consideration their use of the English language when judging their competence.
I read the previous comments. I want to say that I have been shopping with Pam's Pets ever since She first opened. I have never once had a bad experience with food, animals or employees in all these years. Pam is the most caring pet store owner I've ever met! And through the years I have bought many a pet from her. Just bought their largest reptile enclosure today from them. It rode just fine on top of my V.W. bug 60 mis. because the two employees took the time to box it and strap it down for me. Thanks to all ya'll over there!
I always get crickets from Pam's for the toads and frogs I have. If you take your own container you get a discount on the crickets. I also get Reggie Rat food and Gertie's Guinea food for my degu. Sometimes they don't have one of the foods in stock, maybe it's a popular one. This is a great store with friendly service.
i love your shop, you always have what i need. your employees are knowledgable and attentive. i really wish you would put more on your website. i live in breckenridge and sometimes it would be more helpful to go to your website and see if you have the item in stock and how much it would cost or if i could get you to order it for me. i love your pets and variety of pet supplies. keep up the good work. i always come to your shop first when looking for my pet needs.
The saltwater fish in Pam's Pets are not overpriced. Anywhere you go those fish are going to be expensive. It's the only place I know that has weekly deals on their fish. That is why there never seems to be any fish because the people that know quality know where to shop.
Well once again it all depends on the attitude you have and the customer service you receive! I go into PetsMart all the time and I hardly get any help and if I do get help they just want to talk you into selling you something you don't need! I have always shopped at Pam's Pets off and on and I have never had a problem. Recently there was an employee there who was awesome and helped me fit my dogs for their sweaters and harnesses. I will continue to shop at Pam's Pets and not shop at PetsMart so often. Pam's does not just buy any pet off the street so don't be saying things you know nothing about just because you got a bad experience!

The negative reviews of Pam's Pets are ridiculous. I have been doing business with these people since the store opened. I have never had a single major problem with this store. It is clean and a great place to buy pets or supplies.

We purchased a large rat from them, the young man grabbed it by its tail and when we got home, the tail was peeled off 1/3 of the tail, only leaving the tail bone exposed. Thad horrible customer service, and a lot of the animals there are sick, inbred, and they buy from whoever walks in! i am reporting them!

I think these people are out of there minds. For salt water tanks, the fish they have there are way over priced and hardly have any in stock when you go into the store. The same goes for R/O water, several times I have went in to get R/O water and they had none. WHAT THE F@#$??? How do sell salt water tanks & have no R/O water for the tanks ??? I have been ordering fish, snails, crabs, etc from Doctors Foster & Smith they have a lot better selection, better pricing and better customer service. Basically Pam's Pets sucks!!! and recommend not buying from these people, they evidently have no clue about supply and demand.

Me and my family purchased two regular hamsters about a week ago and a employee told us we could have two hamsters in a cage.If they are in the same litter.Well to make a long story short we woke up and we found one of our hamsters dead! We called Pam's and told us they can't deter min temperament. And told us we could get another hamster to replace the dead one we went there and a man name Terry told us he doesn't do that. (And another thing they have no good customer service) And we went to Pets Mart and the basic information says that hamsters are solitary. And a couple of days go by and the other hamster was dead! We recommend you should go to Pets Mart they tell every thing you need to know about getting a hamster and etc.And they also give you a 14 day warrenty on any small pet(And Pam's dosent give you no warrenty)

They had a variety of fish to choose from. They also carry birds, reptiles, hamsters, etc. They had some really cool fish in the back section of the store. On the weekends they have people there who will let you adopt a dog or kitten. It's a neat store. The staff seemed to be very knowledgable.
