For almost two decades in Plano, the Covino family succeeds every day to put a dash of New York and a heap of Italian heritage into every slice they serve at this local favorite. Along with the delicious handmade pizzas, the rest of the menu consists of basic and true Italian entrees, all with the Covino family touch. The atmosphere feels like one big happy family, with lots of laughter from both guests and staff. You can bring and enjoy your favorite wine with your dinner, or if you prefer, Covino's offers take-out for a romantic dinner at home. Patio dining is a plus. "Nothing fancy, just great food" has been a Covino family motto for years, and rings true in this cozy no-frills establishment. While you may experience a slight wait on weekend nights, the friendly staff and superb Italian fare will be well worth it.
Pizza had lots of cheese and very, very little sauce. Crust was good. I'd rate it okay but I wouldn't order it again.
I will probably go back to try the spaghetti.

This is a nice, family run restaurant. The Italian food is decent but heavy on the garlic. The big drawback is that the space is so small, and it can become overcrowded, hot, and noisy. The pizzas are pretty good, though.

The food is pretty good. This place is insanely small and the wait can be extreme. Was really dismayed at the number of people who came in after us that were sat almost immediately???

If you have moved to Plano and are looking for a place that serves New York style pizza, look no further. Owner owned and operated
in a quiet off the busy street location. Very family friendly.

I used to go to this place ALL the time. It has great food. I enjoyed the staff. One night I had an awful experience and vowed never to return.
The tables are extremely close together. At the table next to me were 2 young men and a young woman. One of the men and the woman were obviously in lust with each other. She wore an extremely short dress and his hand was always up her thigh. The halter style top of the dress was always sagging and she was constantly pulling it up. Covino's is a family type place but this act was more suitable for a strip joint. When I said something to the person in charge, I was told I was being unreasonable and he threw the check book at me.
I was disappointed that, as a regular customer, I was treated like I was dirt. I will NEVER go back.

My husband and I have been enjoying this little family restaurant in Plano for well over 12 years now. We love the BYO concept since they do not have a liquor license. The staff is great, the owner is friendly, and the food expecially the pizza is great. Very small space and they fill up quickly. On weekends you will see tons of people on the patio waiting for their table. It could be 1 hr wait . but worth it.
Pros: Great food and great prices
Cons: small you may have to wait for an hour for table

Our first time to go to Covino's and we'll be going back again and again!
We had the Joe's special Pizza as an appetizer - all the ingredients were fresh and the crust was great! The meatballs on the pizza were so good. I bet that would be an excellent pizza topping for next time.
I can't wait to try the calamari next time. It looked awesome.
BYOB - can't beat that.
Also had Chicken Picatta that was fresh and a large portion. The lasagna was also excellent. They have a rosemary complementary bread that was to die for!
We can't wait to make this our regular and introduce our friends.

I am not Italian, butI grew up in New York which is the home of great pizza and Covino's meets the challenge. Aside from great pizza you can byob and enjoy the surroundings in this "Little Italy" restaurant. I love it when Big Joe is there he lends to the authenticity. When he is not there it is not the same. The Abruzzi bread, Pizza and lasagne top my list as well as their signature chicken dish. Which is not on the menu. Go figure? I really enjoy the atmosphere. The last time we were there a group of Italian men were sitting at the corner table. I wonder if they all had nicknames. Go for the pizza it is awesome.

The crust was amazing! And service was so fast even though the restaurant was packed. There is no beer/wine list but you can bring your own bottle for $1/person corking fee. Saw lots of people around us with their bottles of wine, will definitely have to remember to bring one next time!
Pros: Pizza, Speedy Service, Value

Amigos. Paisanos. Lend me your ears, this is the best pie in Texas. I grew up on the Jersey shore, whre boardwalk pizza pies rule the world, and Joe's (Covino's) is as close as you can get and be 1000 miles inland. BYOB, there's a halfass selection at the rocery store across the street. No reservations, but the amiable crowd of regulars sipping their first bottle of wine outside will make you feel at home right away!
Pros: food, Joe, Goomba music
Cons: wait, parking, deal with it
