I attended Happiness House in the late 80's for preschool, and then for after-school car through the 2nd grade. This place tries how it may, but look at the neighborhood. Not preaching, I spent my entire childhood growing up a couple blocks away.
The apartments surrounding the entire playground have awful reputations. Case and point: I remember being on the merry-go-round, then I heard a bunch of yelling and screaming. Another kid and I jump off the merry-go-round, and looking over I see two guys, they couldn't have been older than 20. One asked me, "Hey little kid, wanna shoot up?" Then he threw a needle at us. We were 3. We had no idea what he meant.
Happiness House is a special place for children. They offer swimming, skating and horseback riding as well as other hands on activities. The staff is well trained and ready to care for children's needs. The price is reasonable. There's also plenty of space for the children to play and all the activites are on a scheduled agenda.
