I'd been going to Shelton's since I was 10 years old and the service has steadily gotten worse and worse, the facility is getting dated and worn looking and the staff is just ridiculous. The last straw was when Shelton and his wife Linda left and the salon acquired new management. This new management is ok with their stylists using their computers to get your personal cell number to call you for their own personal reasons. They let their girls gossip and bring clients in to the mess. The girl that called my personal cell and cussed me out over some gossip at the salon is still working there, and after 15 years I would rather let an epileptic wax my eyebrows than give this incredibly unprofessional salon my business.
Kerri, an esthetician, is the only saving grace this place has. If you must go, see Kerri, but enter the rest of the building at your own risk. Who knows what other information the stylists are privy to by just walking to a computer at the front desk, old check stubs with my account number? My address? My credit card information?

I had arranged for my soon to be wifes wedding party to get their hair done at Sheltons. The entire wedding party loved this place. My wife and daughter have been going to Stephanie at the Arlington location for years now. They wont let anyone else touch their hair!! Our daughters senior pictures were wonderfull due to Stephanie. It does cost more but it is well worth it.

I agree and do recommend Sheltons, they are certainly too pricey and usually very busy, just book a Saturday. I have always had top notch service on my haircuts, even "fixes" when I wasn't so satisfied. Been going back to Kelley in Bedford and started with someone before Eric O.. for year's. Somewhat upscale yet comfortable setting. Was sorry to see all Aveda products go away completely, replaced by Sheltons own and now Wella? It's no big deal, just good for business.
I love this salon. I started going to Shelton's after all of my co-workers have been going there for YEARS! My stylist is Heather and I HIGHLY recommend her. She is truly greatness! I have NEVER had a bad haircut from her and have loved every experience. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for that's for sure!
Sheltons has been around a long time and I've used their services sparingly. I always feel uncomfortable when I'm there. It's not really that the staff is snooty, but it feels as if you're on a spaceship with people from another planet. Maybe it's because the place is all white and the staff is hurriedly walking around in their all black outfits like robots. It's not a friendly environment, but some of the stylists are true pros. I had my make up done there for my wedding and I thought it was great. Not bad, but I wouldn't make it my regular place! As a side note, their beauty school (Ogle) that is located next door has great prices. I go there for facials, manicures, & pedicures! You can't beat a facial for $16!
I have thick, curly hair and it is SO hard to find someone that can cut it without messing up and making me look like a poodle! I was weary of Lucy (Arlington location) at first, but she surprised me at how well she handled all of my hair! She did a great job and has for over a year now!
I recently recieved a gift certificate for Sheltons and finally got to use it. I scheduled to have a 60 minute massage, and surely needed it. It was the worst massage ever. The therapist rushed me to get in and I dont even think she changed out the sheets. 15 minutes into the session she left the room to go change the music because SHE didnt like it or thought I didnt, I dont know. Then she pointed out an imperfection on one of my toes and asked me what happened. And this was suppose to be a quiet relaxing 60 minutes. She talked during the session quite a bit. And it gets worse. When it was time to turn over, I mentioned that it was my favorite part because I always fall asleep, hinting and hoping for her to stop talking. She said "As long as you dont 'fart' in your sleep, we'll be okay". This was the longest 60 minutes of my life and by far the most insulting and unprofessional spa experience ever! It felt like a bad date the would never end.
I recently had a pedicure at Sheltons and expected a more enjoyable experience. After all, "Spa" is in the name. I arrived right on time, but still had to wait about 10 minutes. When I finally sat down in the chair and was asked to put my feet in the water as usual, the water was so hot, I had to jerk my feet out or I would have been scalded. (And I like the water pretty hot). My pedicurist was so rushed, that when she filed my nails, she hardly even touched them. A couple of strokes and I honestly think she missed a nail or two. She had to re-do a nail 3 times, not sure if that was her fault or the polish. But I give her credit for making sure it was fixed. With 3 cashiers I still had to wait to be checked out. Overall, I treat myself to a Spa about every 2-3 weeks and look forward to a nice, relaxing, enjoyable and personable experience. This was just a pedicure.
I suspect that I got a nail fungus from Sheltons after a pedicure there earlier this year. I had not had a pedicure in over a year and a half and developed an infection shortly after going to this facility. Use extreme caution when you get your nails done anywhere- At least bring your own mani/pedi equipment. The place seemed really clean, which is why I dropped my guard. I was surprised when my nail started peeling off! By the way, although I didn't ask for my money back, the manager didn't offer either. I will never get my nails done again.
I visited Sheltons once for a haircut and color and payed dearly for it! True, it was a great style, the atmosphere was fun and upbeat, and the stylist was knowledgeable, but it put a major dent in my pocketbook. They offer waxing, hair, nails, and a wide variety of other services. It's great if you can afford it!
This salon is the best there is, it just doesn't get any better. I have gone here for almost twenty years and feel like a pampered princess while there. The service is excellent, the staff is very professional and friendly. I am always satisfied with the results, and look forward to returning.
PROS: Professional and friendly service
CONS: Can be a bit pricey
Shelton's Day Spa has been operating in Dallas-Fort Worth for more than 40 years. Their longevity is a testament to the professional, quality service you receive on every visit. An awesome place to visit for a pamper day, Shelton's offers everything you could want in a day spa -- hair care (cut, perm, style, color), nail care, make-up, skin care and facials, and therapeutic massage. Massage offerings include Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone therapy, salt scrubs and mud wraps. Gift cards and package deals are also available.
I recently purchased a gift certificate for a friend of mine getting married to have her make-up done and they did a WONDERFUL job on her. She was so pleased with the service she booked a mini massage and pedi/mani there as well. The prices are so worth it at this place. They do everything - massage, pedicures, manicures, hair - EVERYTHING. I told my husband I want a gift certificate here for my birthday and if he doesn't buy it I'm going anyways!
I have been to alot of spas & salons in the area. I normally get people who don't listen to what I want. Not at Shelton's. I was feeling a little "hum-drum" with my look so I went to Shelton's for a change. When I saw what they did I cried because I have not felt so pretty and special in a long time. Their staff was so attentive to me. I felt like a Queen.
Pros: Great location, Not Pushy, Experienced Staff
