Spectacles was established in 1998 in the heart of Houston's Montrose and Museum district. Montrose, the city's most diverse neighborhood and the Museum district has some of the best museums in the U.S. Our boutique was created with the warmth of home in mind. So many times in our travels, we have discovered wonderful and creative boutiques. We felt that Houston needed one catering to the need for unique eyewear.

Best optometrist in Houston

Evan Mapes is an outstanding optometrist. Effective, knowledgeable, and personable. On top of that, his boutique is warm and comfortable. His staff is attentive and capable, and he has a wide selection of stylish frames -- from funky to conservative. I am thrilled to have found him, and recommend him highly.

Most Unique Glasses and a GREAT Doctor!

I read all the reviews before I booked my appointment. . . Spectacles is even better than I expected. Starting off. . .Dr Mapes gave me the best eye exam I have ever had. He's very relaxed, not rushed, and I actually enjoyed the exam. I ususally worry that I screwed up somehow. . .not this time. Dr. Mapes (he introduced himself as Evan. . .no "doctor complex") was awesome! My new contact lenses are the best vision I have ever had with contacts - AND - he had them in his office so I could wear them when I left. Thanks! Then the fun part -- I got to choose my glasses. I HAD FUN looking at the many, many unique frames. Yes - I had fun! Definately not a typical optical. Everything I looked at was unique. . .something no one else will have! I picked glasses and sunglasses. I got them BOTH in 6 days. I LOOK GREAT! at least that is what everyone is telling me! I didn't realize how much of a difference a good set of glasses can affect me. My boss even noticed! I feel and look great. My vision is perfect. I have my 10 year reunion this summer and I know I will be looking my best. . . thanks to Spectacles. They have my business forever.
