I always have to look for what I am looking for by myself. The employees never offer to assist me. I have been going to Sutherlands for years because they have good products with a good price. The workers are never around to help you. They see you wondering around and they still do not knowledge you. One has to go to customers service to get someone to assist you. It is ashame but what can be done? Kinda reminds me of our governmental officials in D.C.

If customer service matters to you, this isn't the place. I went here this past weekend looking to purchase a ladder and to take a look at their portable air conditioners. I was prepared to put out some money. I passed at least 10 people/associates and NOT ONE acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. I am not a hardware buff and don't know it all and these people walked completely by me without saying a word while I am wandering the isles aimlessly looking for my fiancee who actually finally found the ladders on his own. There was no price for the one he was looking at, so he had to take it to the front. He lodged his complaint with the clerk up there and I doubt if it will make a difference. I will not be going back to this store.

Sutherlands is a great hardware store. The staff really knows about construction and home improvement, and they're eager to help you out. I've yet to come across any tools/equipment that I couldn't find here.

Rented a blow-in insulation machine, took it home set it all up put a bag of insulation in; machine didn't work. Called the store they said, "oh yeah we've been having trouble with that machine sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, go ahead and bring it in we'll switch it out. Now I live 20 miles away and now I have to go back? Well I get there I tell the guy I want my time extended and a 10% discount for having to come back. Got the time extended, but no discount, cause the SERVICE COUNTER MANAGER couldn't make the moral decision as well as the ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER to give me one. Why are these people left in charge? They can't make a managerial decision w/out the Store Managers consent? Need home improvement materials I suggest you go to Lowes or Home Depot for your home improvement needs. So what was suppose to be a 40 mile round trip ended up being a 100 mile round trip. Didn't even get a, "we're sorry".
