Artistik Edge Salon

I've been growing my hair out and donating it for years. I hadn't yet found a place that could deal with cutting my hair well when it is short, until now. Terri cut my hair and it has never looked so good. I asked for something that required little maintenance but still looked good and I got it. I just have blow my hair dry and it looks the same as when I walked out of the salon. Everyone was so sweet and I didn't have to wait at all for my appointment. I highly recommend Artistik Edge.

I have been going to all kinds of Hair salons and they never want to do what I want its always what they want so I went to Artistik today and tres Rockwell did listen to what I wanted and better yet she is awesome.Their hospitality is great.They make you feel welcomed.You got to try them out.

I have been to all the top salons in Dallas.I enjoy change. I checked out City Search and went with Artistik Edge this time. Nice website. Told the desk person I wanted someone with experience.No gum chewers. I am not afraid to be dolled up. It was my lucky day! I never done a write up before soooo
?YOU KNOW IT IS SWEET!? The stylist was on time,looked me in the eye,showed me sample colors.
I don?t know,it was just everything she did was professional to the smallest of details. Give my brows a great arch.And she was fast and quiet.

I moved to Dallas about a year and a half ago......bald. Previously I had beautiful blonde hair almost to my waist which I lost to chemo.... but......I certainly can't complain since I am now cancer free. However, being that I am a woman, hair is important and experiencing baldness was tough so as it came time to get my "first" hair cut I took someones recommendation and went to see a stylist at a very nice salon who proceeded to absolutely destroy what little hair I had finally grown back. I went straight home and got online in search of someone who might be able to help me. I came across the Artistik Edge website; read the bio's of all their stylists and then called the salon. I told them my story and they asked me some questions so they could determinewho would be the best fit for me. Then they gave me an appointment only two days later!! My appointment was with Rebecca who I had secretly hoped I would be able to see after reading her bio online. I can not express enough gratitude to Rebecca. She looks at your pictures, asks questions, listens...really listens and then does the most amazing things with your hair. I get compliments everywhere I go now and that feels great especially after being bald for so long. I even asked Rebecca for some of her cards so I could hand them out instead of writing down her name and number for people that keep asking who does my hair. This may sound silly but I would travel anywhere to have Rebecca do my hair! I also appreciate all the staff there; it's obvious that they enjoy what they do and work together as a real team. I have been going to Rebecca for a year now, she is great! I was growing my hair out & did not have a style on my first visit. My hair looked like Javier Bardem in the movie "No Country for Old Men." Rebecca asked if I would be happy w/a shorter cut & I told her to go for it. She gave me a very innovative cut, perfect for my hair texture & face. She recommends products to achieve the same look @ hm. She has saved me from helmet head. I love her positive outlook & you can just feel her enthusiasm for creating hair styles/color that are truly innovative & perfect for each client.

I have been going to Artisik Edge for 11 years with Rebecca as my stylist. I walked in one day, in need of a haircut badly, and came out very happy. I am extremely picky when it comes to my hair. I have had my hair several different colors over the years and have never been disappointed. I am always complimented on my haircut and color!! I went to Artisik Edge after my stylist of 3 years moved and only after I thought I had done enough research online for the best nearby salon. I showed my new stylist a picture of what I wanted in several different positions and stated this is what I want. She looked at it once and never looked at it again. At that moment I was confident thinking, "She knows what she's doing....especially cause she kept talking about all this experience she's had." But after, I was soooo upset.....it looked nothing like the picture and after nicely explaining I wasn't happy she kept forcing it on me, that it was exactly like the picture.....I was not happy and I will never go back again. After my experience, I told a friend about it and she said the exact thing about to her but with her hair color. Not good reputation for them.

When the occasion arose for me to need a new colorist/stylist in January 2006, I instantly remembered having read an article several years prior in the Lake Highlands Advocate about the Artistik Edge salon and the owner, Terri, and decided to give Terri a try. Three years later, I can say without reservation that the salon and services from my first visit to my most recent have validated my decision. I feel so comfortable with Terri?s expertise that I sit in the chair and relinquish complete control of the results to her. She has NEVER let me down or disappointed me with her services. While I have been more than extremely satisfied, one might say that I am biased because of the friendship that has also developed from talking with Terri two hours every four to six weeks. So what do others say? People, known and unknown, very frequently compliment me on my hair (e.g. great cut, flattering style, natural highlights, your hair always looks great, where do you get your hair done?) For me, these unsolicited compliments are the true, unbiased statements of quality work received as a results of Terri?s cutting edge skills and expertise.

Artistik Edge staff, thanks for making me always feel so welcomed. Terri, thanks for helping me appear to be the best me that I can be! As always, I look forward to my next visit.

My aunt was the only person to touch my hair during the first 25 years of my life. I needed a closer hairstylist so I "cheated." I love to change my hair and I wanted a stylist that didn't give me cookie cutter hair. My sister recommended Artistik Edge. I took a look at the web page and the salon looked like it had a fun atmosphere. I had attempted to give myself highlights weeks before I went in, so my first appointment was color correction. Lacy fixed my bad highlight job as well as my poor attempt to cut my own bangs. She was very meticulous during my first appointment, so I got her to cut 10 inches off of my hair during my next appointment. At the time, I was an art student at UNT and I wanted an artsy short cut. She did an amazing job and I was never disappointed. I am no longer able to go to Artistik Edge, because I graduated in December and moved to Houston. I will need a haircut soon and I really doubt I will be so lucky as to find another stylist as great as Lacy on the first try. Thanks for the fun artsy hair Lacy!

Average work, considering the amount they charge. The owner did my hair color and completely screwed it up. I had to go back for a re-do and they refused to fix it completely. The staff are very young and some of them are rude and know nothing about customer service. Even the girl who tried to fix it the 2nd time around was surprised that the owner did such a bad job! I was very unhappy with my color, which came out looking very strange, but stuck with it for 6 months because my hair was so over processed at that point. I had even showed them a picture and descibed in great detail the color I was looking to achieve. It was nothing overly complicated and they were not able to do it. Instead of light pale blonde, i got a reddish blonde which i had not even requested. Considering they are color experts, they should give the customer exactly what she wants!

Having recently moved to Pittsburgh for school, and obviously not being able to return to Artistik Edge for my haircut needs, I began searching around for an local salon with similar atmosphere and talent. I decided upon one owned by two sisters and possessing reasonable prices, a good online rating, and an almost identical design and feel as AE, albeit about half the size. Boy, have you spoiled me. While it wasn't "bad" in the least, there was undoubtedly gulfs of difference in the quality of styling skills and "above-and-beyond" customer attentiveness between here and AE. I think it's important for you to know what a good thing you've got going. Send my regards to Charlie and Annie, their talent is missed!

The receptionists are generally friendly, both in person and on the phone. However, the stylist is one of those that feels she knows better what style and color I need than I do. I have been going to Anita for over a year. Once before she cut my hair way too short and started coloring my hair with a blonde base. I prefer my hair to be shoulder length ( and have stated this to her). I am a brunette, and stated from the beginning that I wanted to keep close to my natural color with added highlights. This last time, however, she butchered my hair. The back length is about 1-1/2 inches only!!! I am still not back to a more natural shade. And to think that I paid nearly $200 for this mess--what a waste. Never again.

Have you ever had a stylist ask you "DO YOU TRUST ME?" I did, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I love being a redhead with a funky haircut. Trust is easy I guess when there is so much creative talent and a commetment to education at the highest level. I have been a client / friend for several years and appreciate the stylist enthusiam and care. Artistic Edge is the best in Dallas, trust me.

I agree with the review below mine here as well. They are fantastic! i et highlights done at Artistik edge and could not be happier. I have really short hair and find that before I came to artistik edge that I would sometime look like an animal print rug :) . I have used several stylists here because I seeme to be a little more impulsive on my hair appointment days. They are always able to accommodate my schedule ( not necessarly with hte same stylist, but they are all top notch, so no worries) If you are looking for great highlights, come here.

I have been going to this salon for years and thought it was finally time for me to take a moment to tell you what I think after reading some really stupid reviews about lighting and music. I go for the cut color and style that is consistently top notch. I also love the fact that this salon supports Locks for love and other cancer organizations causes. Last year the owner spent thousands of dollars advertising and supporting the Cut for cure ( I think that is what it was called. The Artistic salon gave all of the proceeds to the cause and they keep long locks to send in every year. If you are looking for a great place that supports great causes and the community AS well as giving you a great cut color and style, then go to artistik edge. If you are looking for great lighting go find something for a good cause to use your extra time for.

I went to this salon twice after reading the rave reviews on CitySearch. It's a nice enough salon...clean, pleasing decor. However, I never got the feeling that they were trying very hard to earn my business. My stylist (who is no longer at the salon) did a good, but not great job, on my highlights, but the haircuts I got were very average. I had to reschedule my second visit because I had the flu and it was three weeks before they could get me rescheduled. Not very accomodating and they didn't seem to care very much. With all the salons in Dallas, this one could really stand to try a little harder to retain clients.

Nice, mostly friendly salon in the Lake Highlands area. One thing I really like about this salon is that "normal" people go there. It is not like salons in the Uptown area that can be intimidating with the so-called "beautiful" people. The blonde girl that took my name when I entered was very abrupt and rude, but the other girl that did the check out was fine. The music is slightly loud, but the snacks, coffee and water in the back sitting area is a nice touch. I felt slightly rushed as my stylist tried to juggle two clients at once, but my highlights are okay. The salon chairs are really uncomfortable, but the chairs and couches in the waiting areas are fine. They have a nice assortment of magazines and the place looks clean and nicely decorated. I believe that the prices are about average- ranging from $120-$185 for a haircut and highlight. I also agree with another post about the harsh lighting. Every time I have been there the salon has been fairly busy and when I have called for an appointment, I have been placed on hold for several minutes-which is annoying. All in all a nice salon for the price!

THE REAL DEAL, BEST OF THE BEST, FRIENDLY, TELLS IT LIKE IT IS, AND ABOVE ALL
WONDERWORKING SERVICE...

Terri Hoover has worked very hard, to make Artistik Edge the great place it is today (and the road at times has not been easy, to say the least). Yes, Terri has family, friends, and of course her EXCEPTIONAL co-workers who support and work hard with her, but she is the driving force/back bone behind this ever evolving, salon. She is why I keep coming back since my first appointment in 1997. Things may changes, just as the times we live in but for sure the HEART and SOUL of this place will stay the same, Thank you Terri for letting me in on the fun and putting up with my craziness for these 11 years. I am looking forward to the next 11 with you and your crew at ARTISTIK EDGE.

Went to see Annie at Artistik Edge after a recommendation from a friend. She is the BEST! Did a great job on the cut and highlights and was fun to chat with. You know those awkward silences or chatty stylists that don't stop? With Annie there was neither - great experience, she will now be my regular go-to stylist!!

I also saw the large number of hyped (giddy? shill?) reviews and just had to go through the city search registration process to add some balance to this.

Artistik Edge is my regular place. It's good, but primarily because my stylist knows how to cut my hair and it's close to my house. Toneea is very good. Someone referred me to her saying that she was excellent for cutting mens hair and that is correct, she is.

But.. the place has horrible overhead flourescent lighting that makes you look like a ghoul in the mirror. They have to change this lighting. You can get an idea of it from looking at the picture above. Yuk! It's like Wal-Mart Lighting.. It's so bad I have considered going elsewhere, but my stylist is just too good and it's not worth the risk to find another.

A minor annoyance is the little promotional tv screens that play ads in your face.. Cool if you could select your own programming, but you have to watch their ads.... Of course, you don't have to watch them at all, which is a good choice.

Overall, it's good. Look for coupons. I think citysearch has one now.

No place in Dallas can you find a place where you can laugh and cry all in one visit and walk out with hair to "die for." Teri has built a professional staff to statisfy the needs from 7 to 70. Every time I walk in I know that I will be greeted with a smile from Melissa at the front desk to Teri and her latest trainee. That my hair needs will be met and I'll walk out with hair that suits my needs and style.

I have been going to Izzy since I moved to Dallas last year, she does a great job on my hair. I have never had to wait, if my appointment is for 6.30 pm I am always in the chair at that time. It is a very friendly salon and you are never rushed in and out the door.

I've been going to this salon for years now and I send all my friends! They go out of their way to make you feel at home, massage your hands while you wait, bring you coffee, water, whatever! I've never recieved that from any other salon! They are always busy, so I'm just guessing I'm not the only one that likes getting SPOILED! Hats off to Terri and her awesome staff!

My teen thought she could cut and BLEACH her own hair! What are teens thinking ? :) Long story short , one look at her and they MADE time to fix her 'creation' and give me my daughter back in a form that slightly resembled the humbled child I have come to love. I have a very picky family... They (2 teenage boys and Husband), have fallen in love with Therese! She knows how they are and how to take care of them in a "timely manner". They will not go anywhere or to anyonelse!
And then there is little ole me... When in a household of men, there is never special time for me. That is where Therese at Artistik Edge come in... I love this place! I am treated special when I walk in the door, and the entire time I am there... I have fine, curly hair, beleive me, not everyone can do the correcte cut or style ... Therese can and does every time! I LOVE her, I give over each time and say, you know what works - just have fun! I come out beautiful, relaxed and happy. She, cuts, colors, styles, and pampers me - Artistik Edge.
Anywhoooooo, tonight all of my men go again (monthly), and next week I am treating my mother to a day with Therese, perm, color and personal attention... Life doesn't get better than this. :)

Happened up the salon by accident..called, made appt. and showed up. Stylist was right on time, the atmosphere was fantastic, and my stylist listened to what I wanted and asked me all kinds of questions. She said that her intent was to give me the color and style that I wanted. Began the color, has a Diet Coke and a good magazine, and great conversation. Had waxing done (a first) and a deep conditioner...my style was to die for and I received so many compliments once I went to work with my new "do." I had a great time at the salon - a fantastic way to spend a Saturday afternoon - a day that was "all about me." The salon music played some great tunes, and don't forget to write you thoughts in the book in the restroom....also, Redken products are available...bought one of everything the stylist used. If you want a positive experience like I had at Artistik Edge, then book a date with "Lacy." She's full of energy and great fun to chat with. She will make you happy! As you can tell, I had a great experience there. Artistik Edge ROCKS !

I have been to every "Hip & Trendy" salon in Dallas and finally found the last stop on my Tour! No more lopsided cuts and golden hair that was supposed to be blonde!!! Lacy gave me the hair color I have always wanted, and a cut to die for! The ambience and atmosphere of is that of a salon you would expect to give up your first born for, but was priced to fit any pocket book. My stylist was very open and we had a great conversation through the whole process. The remodel was almost done on my last stop, so look forward to a bigger and better salon. I cant wait till the next time I want to change my hair......I know that no matter what style I choose, I will walk out with a great cut & color and still afford lunch!!!!!!!

I have been a customer at the Artistik for years and can't imagine going anywhere else. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. And I always look great when I leave. I find the atmosphere warm and friendly and I am in there alot. And did I say my hair always looks great ?

I came here over the summer and had a truly awful experience. I recently switched jobs and needed to find a salon closer to home and couldn't ignore all the praise this establishment received, so I had to assume my time there was the exception not the norm. I know I said I would never go back, but I had to give them one more shot, and I wasn't disappointed. The service was a thousand times better than last. The stylist was very kind and intelligent, I let her know what I normally do and she used the free areas I had to make my hair look great. The Shampoo treatment, with the hot towel and scalp massage was great. Really a completely different experience than before. I think giving people a second chance might just be a good thing!

I found Artisik Edge on CitySearch and could not be happier with the service I received. Lacy was able to get my hair exactly where I wanted it. The salon has a great atmosphere (even though they are remodeling) and a great staff who are welcoming, knowledgeable and eager to ensure your comfort. I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for great service and even better results.

At Artistik Edge, I can trust Therese to lift my color, my skin, and my style everytime. In my opinion, having a great stylist is as important as finding the right therapist (when needed) !!

I have never been happier with a stylist than I am with Sarah at Artistik Edge! After being unhappy for the past couple of years with my hair (and spending excessive amounts of money on the so-called "top stylists" of Dallas, one who even burned my shoulder-length hair so much that it had to be completely cut off), I bravely ventured out to try a new salon. From the moment I sat down in Sarah's chair, I felt totally comfortable. She asked lots of questions, gave me a couple of different suggestions and worked inside my comfort level without trying to push anything too radical on me. What I was happily given was a gorgeous, soft and chic razor cut that highlights my features and is fairly easy to create at home. She is extremely skilled and educated (in fact, Art. Edge has their own program to fund continuing education of their employees so they stay on top of the latest trends and techniques), and not only did I feel completely at ease in her chair, but I also thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her and the other staff members! They truly create a welcoming, relaxing environment that's also a pleasure to be a part of. I have definitely found my new stylist and salon!!!!

Artistik Edge is the most amazing salon I have ever been to! The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. They?re easy atmosphere and attitude is wonderful if you are looking for a place to go that isn?t overpriced and has great customer service. They give you high quality work and their complimentary hand massages are the best!! I will say nothing but the BEST about the experience that I received at this awesome hidden treasure.

So my experience was average until I waited 10 minutes for my hair dresser. Then, I got some half asleep girl (who's name I won't say) who was the most unethusiastic and unfriendly person who cut my hair WAY TOO SHORT. Then she "layered" the back of my hair (because at this point it's a short bob). The layers were completely asymmetrical and uneven (so much that I had to go to ANOTHER salon to get it fixed). I am steaming with fury as I write this because of my horrendous experience. On top of my awful haircut, the girl puts my jacket in a PILE OF HAIR! So when I picked it up it was COVERED with hair cuttings. And of course, my neck and my shirt was covered in hair because she made no attempt to do a good job.

PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE! Anyone is better than this!

This was the best haircut I've ever gotten. My stylist was young and trendy, just like me, and she knew exactly what I needed. The stylists were all very professional, all different types, and I'm sure just as fabulous as Annie. Oh, the prices are beyond reasonable, especially for Dallas. I highly recommend this place, and don't be put off if they're sitll in the middle of remodeling.

My first experience here was when I donated to Locks of Love and they cut and styled my hair for free. Since then, I have not gone elsewhere; Artistik Edge is the best salon! Theresa has done my hair for three years now, she listens to what I want and the fact that I don't like to spend a lot of time doing it. With just wash and wear I have had the most compliments on my hair. When I want to do more with it, she lets me know what I need to do and what products are the best.
Not only does she do my hair and I look great leaving there, she teaches me how to keep it looking that great everyday. (This is from someone who is used to having long hair and having it up all the time, not used to styling it everyday. . .)
They are great stylists and teachers and friends . . . the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. . . You get a hand massage with every hair cut. . . If you are wondering what salon to go to, I highly recommend Artistik Edge. I drive 25 miles to get here and I would drive farther. You will not be disappointed!

Always I have went to Pompeo, in uptown but last couple of times the employees were "rude" and too good to even talk to me it seemed. So..I was such in need for a highlight and lowlight so I searched all around the internet and finally on citysearch I found 3 salons I was interest in. So I called all of them and it just so happened that Artistik had an opening for a color and cut in 3 days, so I took the appointment a bit worried since I just got right in. So I arrived and it is just a little salon in a shopping center and not exactly what I expected. I went in and everyone was just so nice and Terry, the owner, is who my stylist/colorist was and she was amazing!!! Everything she did I LOVED!!! She did exactly what I asked for and then while I was getting my haircut I got a free hand massage!!! Wonderful!!
Also... the price is amazing!!! Unbeatable, you definately "Get What You Pay For" No doubt about it. Try it out, you'll not regret this salon, ever!!!

I have been going to Terri and the crew for over 12 years and they are the real deal. They are in the know and they know what fashion is. If your'e not getting your hair done here, you are definetely missing out. Not to mention the scenery is quite pleasant as well.

Normally I dont do these review things but I was, am so excited about my hair!!! I'm a color freak! I got highlights and color, and the cut, awesome!! If you are looking for hotness, you found it! The atmosphere was the icing on the cake! Needless to say, I found my new salon for life :p

Finding a hairstylist you can trust and rely on is a difficult task. Finding a salon that has several hairstylists you can trust and rely on is near impossible. But, I have found it at Artistik Edge. The first three years I lived in Dallas, I would try out new salons, get frustrated and drive back to San Antonio to have my trusted stylist cut my hair. He said I needed to find someone in Dallas, as I was probably paying more for a haircut than anyone else once you factor in time and gas! But, there is more to a salon than the cut, and I wanted a place I felt at home and comfortable. A friend told me about Artistik Edge and I tried them out. What a great find!

Terri Hoover is the owner and operates a salon that is fun, friendly and completely unpretentious. One of the great things I love about the salon is that there are no turf wars between stylists. If Terri isn't available any of the other stylists are ready to take care of me, and they are all good. It really is a team atmosphere.

Terri kids me about being a "granola girl" because I am very particular about my hair cuts and have refused to get my hair colored -- I don't want to look unnatural as roots start showing. However, over time, Terri and Rebecca discussed color with me and told me how my hair would react to different colors and treatments and I finally said yes. They nailed it! The color was perfect and was more "me" than my natural color. (My husband even liked it and he doesn't like me to change my hair.)

I definately recommend Artistik Edge to anyone looking for a new stylist relationship. The entire staff is wonderful, the atmosphere is lively and the service is great.
