I did not have the unfortunate experience that the other reviewers had. Nicko completed three shoe repair projects for me in less than a week. I found each repair to be completed perfectly! My total was $30 - he did not charge me for one

While I will admit, I finally received my shoes and the work done was high quality, it was not worth all of the other inconveniences. Please read and go to Nicko's at your own discretion. His store has about 50 hand written signs essentially saying that if you don't like the way Nicko does business, go somewhere else.
I had 3 pairs of shoes to get new heels on. On top of not giving a quote, I asked repeatedly for an estimate. No, how about a ball park figure? No, well, am I looking at 100 dollars, less, more? I get vague answer. I had, however, stupidly, already put down a deposit ($30) which was required in order to leave shoes there. I was hassled about not having cash, even though there was a credit card machine, and stickers showing the credit card logos. I left, very unsure that I would ever see my shoes again.
I returned 5 days (4 business days later), and after waiting for about 10 minutes for him to come from the back, I handed him my claim slip and asked him for my shoes. He looked for about 10 minutes, and said he could not find them, and had me come on the other side of the counter to find them in his shop. I found them in about 1 minute, and they had not been touched since I left them. He told me to come back in 4 hours. I said fine, and I returned. When I returned, the shoes were finished, and the quality of the work was good.
Nicko told me that the total was 100 dollars, which was high, but not unreasonable. I reminded him that I had already put $30 down. He, once again, hassled me about using credit card, and even charged me a 2 dollar premium to use it (something that was not made aware to me before). He also does not know how to use the machine and he charged me twice for the same charge. I am now disputing the charge with him, and my credit card company. Please stay away and find another place that I'm sure has close to the same quality of work for less money and less hassle.
I did not feel appreciated as a customer.

Pros: Quality work and crafstmanship

Cons: Horrible Customer Service, Hassle to go, Didn't feel comfortable that I would see my shoes again

.

Phoned to see if he repaired covered heels; BEFORE I COULD ASK THE QUESTION, he very rudely informed me that he didn't give quotes over the phone and hung up the phone; hell I wasn't calling for a quote. If this is his way of drawing business - he'd better take a CRASH COURSE in "Customer Service 101"

Pros: Did get to see what they were due to his rude and abrupt behavior

Cons: Rude

I have never been treated so rudely or experienced any worse customer service in my life! His store is covered in handwritten signs of what he WON'T do. He lost my shoes and was very expensive. I asked for a quote up front, and he wouldn't give me one. I wouldn't trust him with expensive shoes and felt very uncomfortable leaving my shoes with him. He is also very slow and hard to do business with.

Nicko is a wonderful person. His Italian heritage comes across so strongly as you speak to him and listen to him. His workmanship is beyond compare. I recommend him for all your shoe and boot repair needs. Take cash!! It makes him smile :)
