Does anyone know where Melina went? I called to make an appointment and she is no longer at Sensia and they won't tell me where she went. Thanks so much for the help!

Excellent for hair straightening

by flowergirl86

I had very thick, curly, ugly hair. This place straightened it and now I love it. I tried everything and I was very hesitant to try the Japanese Straightening, but this place did it beautifully. I haven't gotten anything else done here, but I definitely recommend this place for hair straightening.

Pros: They know what they're doing

Cons: none

Best Facials from Michelle N.

by ALaMo

This is now my fourth visit to Sensia and I am absolutely hooked. Michelle is the best!!! She is so sweet and has an immense knowledge of the products used in the salon as well as the products I use at home. After her facials and her recommendations on the products I need to use I can actually see a reversal in my skin. It is firmer, less apparent lines around my mouth and eyes....my co-workers have even made several comments about whether or not I have been getting facial peels. I swear by the products I am using now and the custom outlined facials given by Michelle. I am so glad I have now found a spa I will commit to!

Pros: Improved skin and better knowledge of products

Cons: Have to schedule way in advance.

Best Stylist in Houston by Far - Jonathan

by Alchvist

I have been going to Jonathan for several years to get my hair done. I have always been very very particular about who does my hair and consider it an investment in my overall professional wardrobe.
Everytime I visit Jonathan he takes care of me. He is patient and listens to what I want but also has some good suggestions. I trust him so much now that I would feel comfy to go and sit in his chair and let him do whatever he wants to my hair because I know whatever he does would look fabulous!
I have also sent my boyfriend to Jonathan and I am proud to say that he no longer comes home with botched haircuts or outdated styles. Jonathan took years off of him!
If referrals are any indicator of quality service, let it be known that I have referred 7 friends to Jonathan, all of which have been very impressed and continue to go to him. I am always asked who does my hair and I say, "Jonathan at Sensia, he is the best!"

Pros: Knowledge & Expertise

Cons: none

Salon is Great!

by 1cosmicgirl

After relocating to Houston from LA, I had a difficult time finding a salon and stylist. I unhappily worked my way through several of the salons on Citysearch's top 10 list until trying Sensia. I was lucky enough to get Lance. He did a terrific job with my color and i LOVE my cut. I have very thin hair and he did a fantastic job creating volume. He's a fun guy and very attentive without fawning. The salon has a great atmosphere and the staff is friendly. Location is handy with ample parking.

Pros: Lance, ambiance, parking

Cons: Must have cash for tips w/o advance warning when booking

Best manicure & pedicure byTracey

by lahan

We have just relocated to Houston and my first visit to Sensia with Tracey was on a referral from my neighbor, and this was the best nail services I've ever had although I've been to many spas while living in California. Tracey gave me a very thorough pedicure with a nice long warm stone massage and her touch is very firm yet soothing not to mention the relaxing ambience of the quiet area. Tracey gave me a "tour" to the spa and I am definetely coming back for my massage and facial.

If anyone is looking for a dayspa to be pampered--Sensia is THE PLACE.

Pros: convenient location

Cons: not good parking at lunch time

Facials with Rad at Sensia

by vikingrose

First of all I only go to Sensia because of Rad and his facials. I've had many facials over the years and could never commit to any one, however, Rad is trained to be an Esthetician which some would refer to as european facials. Rad has a gentle demeanor and the touch to clean your your face as if that's all that matters. He also goes beyond the standard facial and will massage your hands which is delightful. You will not be dissappointed.

The cons have nothing to do with Rad and his excellent work but with the studio itself. As you enter the back area where they provide serenity services, they have this nice japanese water fountain but it gushes water instead of a trinkle and it's annoying. Fortunately you can't hear it once you're in the room. Also, because of the paper rice walls you are forced to whisper when you speak otherwise the person next door will come and ask that you not talk so loud.

Pros: Best Facial around

Cons: Paper Rice walls

AWSOME SPA DAY. Great Value, Not Expensive

by tony1998

Went again to Sensia, on Sunday for a massage. I recommend Travis, he gave me a wonderful professional experience. This was one of the best massage I have ever received. The facial was very great, and my face was glowing, (needed to get that dead winter skin scrubbed away). I loved the area Sensia has created, very relaxing, water sounds, music. And the cost was not expensive and well worth my time.

Pros: Professional, not overpriced

Cons: none

Worst customer service ever.............

by PK1979

I have been to this place two times now and the second time did it for me. This was supposed to be a surprise for me by my bridesmaids who had planned a whole spa day for me but the front desk called me to confirm the appt. Go figure ........and then they called me three times on the day of the appointment to reschedule , first time because their carpet was being redone and was not completed, second time because their facial person had a flu and third time because they had my appts mixed up with someone else. After wasting 5 hrs of my day, I still was patient and made it to my appt. the manicurist was obviously mad about something and started telling me about how moving my appt had ruined the rest of her appts for the day and that it wasnt fair to her. She was literally yelling at me and filing my nails like it was a block of wood. i think i had enough at this point and had to leave.
Having so many fabulous spas/salons in the galleria area to choose from, I would definetely be concerned about losing my clientele, If I owned this place. I am never going back.

This is my 3rd experience at Sensia . I went for a Massage and Facial with my mother for her birthday. The staff was was very professional and friendly. My mom was waiting in the relaxation area and the owner asked my mom to try a new foot reflexology/massage circulation machine the spa just installed. What a nice touch while waiting for her facial. I will be back.

Can't tell from the outside, but the inside was well hidden with great decors and very relaxing enviroment. The massage was not so great. I seemed rushed and the massage was a "repeat" of movement. Overall, the atmosphere was great, but the staff was unfriendly.

Pros: Parking &

Cons: Service

not my best massage by far

by erach17

Not a very good massage. Was supposed to be a full hour and it lasted 40 minutes. During my massage, her movements were very quick and too obviously memorized when they should be slow and relaxing. I also did not like that the area to change into robes was a very small one person bathroom. I was supposed to hang my clothes on a hanger on the wall for anyone after me to see instead of small lockers like everywhere else I have been. Everyone had to wait their turn to change into a robe, out of a robe, or just use the restroom. I also did not like that she cracked my toes during my massage...that to me is not relaxing and in fact makes me nervous to hear my bones cracking.

Pros: parking

Cons: changing room, some massage "techniques"

Prettiest Eyelashes in Houston...

by anaser

I got introduced to Sensia on my 21st b-day, and since then I have been an advocate for the salon. Melissa applies extreme eyelash extensions which are AMAZING!! I constantly receive compliments from people all day, whom, would never know they are extensions had I not told them. Not only do they look and feel incredibly natural, but, they are durable. I receive touch-ups once a month and that is perfect... I don't even have to wear make-up! The lashes are excellent and the quality can not be compared. I have only given my "secret" to a few...but, its well kept. With the help of Melissa applying my lashes and Heidi shaping my brows...I have the best beauty team around... People always tell me, "you have eyelashes to die for," and I just think to myself, "or to buy for...."

Pros: Great Customer Service, Professional, Knowledgeable, Very Consistent

Best hairstylist inside the Loop - People are always asking who cut my hair

by NatalieWood7

Tiffany is the BEST hairstylist! You can count on her to give you an excellent layered look and for your hair to be gorgeous when you leave and long after. Tiffany is consistently pleasant and professional, she takes her time and does an excellent job always giving me exactly what I want.

Patricia (Massage Therapist) is the worst...skip her, she singed me three times during my hot stone massage. Not sure she is even still there but if she is I would skip her.

Pros: Hairstylist are friendly and efficient.

Cons: The girls at the front desk act as being a receptionist is a dirty word and their phone skills are lacking.

Best of The Best / Susana & Tracie

by lgon

I am taking out time from my very busy schedule to write this review so that viewers can benefit from my wonderful experience at Sensia. As a victim of the Ike hurricane, after living 23 days without power I decided to escape and unwind. My 90 mins massage with Susana was heavenly. She used all different techniques and positions and yes my massage lasted the entire 90 min duration. Following my wonderful massage was the most thorough and best pedicure ever by Tracie... completes with detailed cleaning and a nice long reflexology massage with warm stones while I enjoy my cup of green tea, soft music and relaxing in the spa's warm and tranquil environment. I strongly recommend Susana for massage and Tracie for the warm stone spa pedicure, both, although not big in stature but with mighty strength.

Pros: great location

Cons: none

Superior In Service

by Tvandrews

A BIG FAN that?s what I am of Tiffany?s at Sensia Japanese Day Spa. When it comes to getting my hair styled and profiled there could not be a better stylist! Tiffany has been doing my hair for eight years and I would never think about making a change to anyone else. My hair is very fine and it?s hard for me to make it look full of body. But that?s not a problem for Tiffany. She knows what products, and styles to recommend and she's very good!!!! If you haven't met Tiffany, you need to! If you?re looking for a great stylist, look no more you need to meet Tiffany! She gives personal attention and she's interested in your hair not just your money! I am a longtime client of Tiffany and she knows exactly what I like and would not give me anything less then that! And the best part is she's located in the Houston Galleria area! So ladies if you want your hair to look and feel beautiful give Sensia Japanese Day Spa a call and ask to be service by TIFFANY. You?ll look and feel so good when she finishes that you?ll want to go shopping, and guess what ladies?..the mall is right down the street.

Pros: GREAT SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE!! FRIENDLY STAFF

Cons: CAN'T THINK OF ONE

Best Facial Ever!

by PersonOfInterest

I got a facial at Sensia a few years ago and was a little hesitant but decided to try it again anyways (it wasn't that bad the first time) I made an appointment and got in the same day. I never had a guy do my facial before so I didn't know what to expect but Rad was awesome! He seemed to be excited himself too see his final result. This was the most thorough facial I have ever gotten. There are so many steps I lost count. The extractions are aggressive. He also gives you a shoulder/neck/arm/face massage so it balances out the extractions. Overall, It was awesome!

Received a gift certificate for a Pedicure and Massage..Angela gave me the best pedicure I have ever had and she even did nail art (flower) on my toe, I was going to Miami for the weekend. Massage by Brian was excellent. The spa was quiet and the atmosphere was very cool. The staff was professional and friendly which was hard to pull off that day as they were very busy. Best gift I have received in a long time.

best body wrap!!!!!

by spalover245

I was at Sensia Studio yesterday and had the Precious Fruit scrub and body wrap. It was so luxurious and smelled like heaven. I found out from my therapist that it is a 100% organic treatment. The srub left my skin feeling so soft and then to finish it off the yogurt body wrap was intoxicating. I think every woman that needs a little R&R should try this. Thanks Sensia I had a wonderful time and a found a new spa.

Pros: very friendly and informative

Sensia was a disappointment

by Cruise4Two

After checking reviews for Day Spas here on CitySearch I felt confident that I too would enjoy my time at Sensia. I checked in and was immediately escorted to the back room to a chair outside the pedicure stations. As we walked I was told to turn off my cell phone, there was a book to explain the process on the table, and someone would be with me shortly. The atmosphere was pleasant with the usual soothing CD playing and water fall feature. The very low lighting made it difficult to read. A woman brought me a delightful glass of cucumber water. Then to my surprise instead of taking me to a treatment room they brought out a PORTABLE FOOT SPA! I proceeded to have a fifty dollar Detox treatment in an ordinary chair, in the corner of their busy corridor. As I sat there trying to read their book in the dark one of the passerby employee adjusted the lighting. With the heavy staff traffic, there must be a break room or bathroom adjoining the area I was seated. I felt totally exposed. They recommend six treatments with monthly follow ups. I passed on the package. I not only didn?t enjoy sitting in their hallway; the Detox treatment showed little noticeable difference from an ordinary foot spa. Apparently I have had little to no exposure to the full page list of everyday life exposures including bad eating and drinking habits. A lady stuck her head out from what I guess was a Japanese paper door and shushed us. I was shocked! Do not get me wrong, I appreciate the attention given to the customer?s peacefulness that was receiving the facial however, if our low voice was that disturbing the paper wall is indeed a design flaw. I went to the front desk to reconcile my account and told of being shushed. Her response was ?Oh. That is a whisper zone.? I had spoken in a low tone but not in a whisper, information that needed to be communicated by the person escorting me back. Sensia was a disappointment due to the lack of privacy and the staff's communication skills.

Karen at Sensia is super esthetician

by teensmom

After trying 3 different skin care salons and 2 different dermatologist (one of whom caused scars), my 16 year old daughter has finally seen great improvement in her skin after becoming a client of Karen at Sensia. Karen is the first esthetician we have found who can successfully remove blackheads without leaving the face bright red or causing pain. She also is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of skin care, and can impart this information in a way that teenagers will listen to.

Fantastic Facial with Rad

by yogachick25

After my favorite facialist left the Heights Massage and Day Spa, I visited several other spas trying to find a replacement. Thanks to other reviews on Citysearch, I scheduled a facial with Rad, and he lived up to all of the rave reviews. First, he has a great personality - full of energy! Second, he gives an amazing facial. The extractions were aggressive, which was exactly what I needed. One day later, the breakouts look better. He also packs an incredible amount of treatment into the session (cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, facial massage...). It felt like he was really taking his time to give my skin the attention and treatment it needed. Finally, the Sensia studio has a nice quiet waiting area where you can relax before your appointment, and the Galleria location is convenient with plenty of parking. If you are looking for the best facial Houston can offer, schedule your appointment with Rad right away.

Pros: Amazing facial, nice waiting area, great prices

Cons: None

Wouldn't suggest it!

by tx08

I gave this place quite a few chances and it just never worked out.
Japanese hair straightener, didn't take. I did ask prior to the process if it had ever not worked on anyone and was told "No". After it didn't take and the texture of my hair felt like a horses tail, my hairstylist admitted that it had not worked on everyone. I had bad color, a bad cut-- then decided to move on.
It is very small and loud and they seem to have a comment about everyone that walks out. Best of all is the hairstylists that stand out front and smoke then come in and have their hands in your face, just love that!
Since my experiences I have asked around and heard many of the same stories.
There are so many really nice places in Houston, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Pros: Easy to get to

Cons: Inexperienced stylists, unprofessional

Innovative business

by amw525

My experience with Sensia was not very in depth, but I know enough about the establishment to recommend it. Their techniques are quite innovative (for this area) and they offer a very long and impressive list of services. Conveniently, they are open on Sundays, unlike most other spas in the area.

a disappointed day at the spa ...

by stylishgal

This spa charges too high price for the services that other spas would provide so much better. A $50 feet detox is the only enjoyment that I give credit for interesting service today. A $95 facial and the $50 hair dry are way too expensive while other salons provide the massages with the facial & better trim for the hair fix with a lower price. This place is small, crowded, & has no closet for customer to store belongings. What's a rip off.

Pros: Ion Detox

Cons: services charge high prices but not meet expectations.

Warm rock pedicure ...... really ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

by lavieenrose123

I received a gift certificate for a Spa Pedicure & Manicure at Sensia and truly love the experience. This was not an average so so pedicure that one gets at the nail shops in strip centers. My manicurist, Tracie, was gentle, thorough and gave me a "much longer than expected" feet massage and reflexology with warm stones. The procedure was performed complete with exfoliant, mask, hot towels ...etc.... all for $60.00. The manicure was just as pampered with salt scrub and hot towels. One month later I came back for another pedicure and my polish was not a bit chipped. I have since recommended to my friends and coworkers and they all love it as well. The bottom line is if you want your feet and hands to be pampered come to Sensia and ask for Tracie -- sweet, positive attitude and gives great service.

Pros: great location .... greater manicures & pedicures

Cons: current remodeling constructions was not pleasant

Amazing Salon, only two little complaints

by TXlonghorn04

Melissa and Cynthia do an amazing job at makeup. They did my makeup and my entire bridal party and everyone looked fabulous. The only thing that irritated me was that the bride gets charged $25 more and I don't really understand how that is justified. But they make you look fabulous so I recommend them no matter what. They are so much better than Facade, because they provide a natural elegant look, which is what you want in your pictures.

Many people post comments about the staff in the front, and that is still true. I have been going here for over 8 years and while the front desk staff has gotten much better, there are still some cranky, rude women that work up there. Yes, the male that works in the front is pleasant. Cynthia, please talk to them and let them know so I don't have to warn the friends that I send to your salon.

Pros: Makeup artists!

Cons: Staff in the front of the salon

I learned so much from a quick lesson from Melissa. She showed me the liquid mineral foundation which I am so in love with. I am also now addicted to the gel liners. My eyeliner is easy to put on and is not going anywhere! I also have gotten my hair done by Tiffany. She gave me a super cut! I can style it my self and it is one of the best cuts I have ever had! Last but not least my nails by Tracey! She gave me one of the most relaxing thourough manicure pedicures in a long time. The spa was relaxing and the pedicure complete!

It was Good

by la2houston

I recieved an email about sensia's thermal hair straightner, and decided to read the reviews. Now I have to be honest and say I only went once, last year for mothers day gift certificate I received. The manicure and pedicure were amazing. The massage was so dreadful. It was way to much pressure, the most horrible massage I ever had. When I was done, I asked about my facial, and the receptionists told me i didnt have one. I did, it came with my gift certificate. I left, and my husband was so upset he called to complain. The manager did call me and tried to get me to come back in, but I never did. I would go back, I would just make sure to speak up next time, and NEVER GET ANOTHER MASSAGE AGAIN! The staff was friendly except for the receptionist who had no clue what was going on, her excuse to the manager was, she thought I had looked like someone else. Everyone does make mistakes though.

Listen to the Customer!

by xvynusx

I went to sensia for a warm stone body massage. I told the my masseuse the areas that i was sensitive in and hoped that she would be more careful with those areas. i felt more tense leaving the place than when i first arrived. she did a mixture of swedish w/ the warm stone and the swedish part felt horrible. if i felt she was putting too much pressure, i would tell her and all she would say is "i'm not even pushing that hard". regardless if you think you are or not, you should always listen to the customer. she kept right on with the same amount of pressure.

when she pulled my arm behind my back, it hurt because of how high my arm was on my back. i told her that i wasn't flexible at all, but she kept yanking my arm higher on my back and didn't listen to me. the warm stone was awesome, but because she did the swedish portion first, i was already tense and was uncomfortable to really enjoy the stone massage. i was terribly disappointed because the masseuse just did not listen to me. if someone gave me a certificate there, i will give them a try, but will definitely request a different person since my massuase didn't live up to my standards.

I went to Sensia recently on my wedding day to get my hair and make-up done..along with my bridal party. The guy that works in the front (might be a manager) was horrible! I sat waiting to be worked on for two hours and he kept asking who i was and why was I waiting. I told him I was the bride about 5 times. I also encountered him and a couple of other staff members talking bad about customers (from their attitude to the way they looked). Some of the stylist are genuinely nice and do a great job, but its not worth it to go there after what I experienced!

Pros: Decent hairstylist

Cons: Awful staff

Rad is the best!!!

by Customerisnumberone

Rad gives fantastic facials! He is fun and leaves you feeling fabulous. My skin has never looked better.
I have tried Heidi for facials when Rad or Karen are unavailable, but Heidi is COLD and very inattentive. Her waxing technique is painful. You should also try Karen, she is new, but attentive and thorough.

Pros: Facials by Rad are incredible

Cons: Decor is dated and the spa music should be updated

Highly Recommend Melina for TR (Japanese Thermal Reconditioning)

by KJP2462

If you want silky, gorgeous, straight hair go to Melina at Sensia for a TR. She is the best in the industry by far. My hair does not frizz, curl, or do any of the nasty things it did before. I hop out the shower and can leave the house with wet hair (which has never been an option for me) and it will dry beautifully. Melina will take care of you. She is worth every penny and more. Houston is lucky to have her as well as Sensia. I don't live in Houston anymore but I come back to have her do my hair because you will not find better results than this when getting a TR done. Melina takes care of other hair needs I have as well and if I could I would take her with me as my personal hair assistant. I never write reviews but I know I have done so much research on this procedure before I started doing it 4 years ago and finding someone that is good in the city you are in isn't always easy so I thought I would share. Take care.

Phenomenal A+ Cutting Edge Services by the VERY Best

by harasrekab

So, I went to Rahul (aka "The Chemist") for hilites. He is bar none, the best blonde maker there is. I used to go to New York for highlites. Thankfully, I don't need to anymore. He is superb -- he will not allow you to leave with yellow or brassy hair; in fact, he wants you to be a "pearly blonde". He is also ALWAYS ON TIME, and uber professional. Had a conversation with him about my unruly frizz, which Orlando (the Babe Ruth of stylists) ordinally straightens for me. I look like an add for Jheri Curl when I don't have a really good blowout. Anyway, Vikki (aka The Bomb) gave me THE LATEST AND GREATEST cutting-edge hair straightener. It is called THE BRAZILIAN (don't get the wrong idea, here, I am not bald!!) I am gob-smacked by the results. NO breakage, NO harsh chemicals (it actually smells like chocolate!) and silky smooth straight hair. When I want to go curly, my curls are perfect, and actually obey me - no frizz and no worries. My drying time has been cut in half, too - no hassles, no lengthy olympic arm workouts, and super gorgeous soft PERFECTLY STRAIGHT hair in 15 -20 minutes. I didn't do the full on 100% straightener because I was wary (I've had the japanese before, and needed to change continents after that disaster) Thanks to this unbelievable team of Houdinis I walked out of there looking like a movie star. EVERYONE there was super sweet and professional, except one cranky guy at the desk. Pay him no attention and you will think you'd died and come back as a natural straight haired blonde. Who knew?! Thank you Sensia!
Oh my goodness, I totally forgot to mention that I saw the best hair extensions I've ever seen. This girl's hair was lengthened in a shockingly short time, and it looked TOTALLY NATURAL. No obvious layers of unmatched hair being applied here. This guy should be called The Wiz. He was super fast and phenomenal. I couldn't believe the transformation in front of my eyes. All around A+

Melina is the best!

by asheymc

The best thing about this place is Melina. She does a phenomenal job on the Japanese Thermal Reconditioning Straightener. I have had the procedure done in New Orleans four times and thought they did an excellent job. I couldn't have imagined that it could be any better but Melina is the only person that actually has my hair feeling silkier and looking straighter than it ever has. I highly recommend her, I can honestly say she does such a wonderful job it makes spending the money much easier. Thanks

Love the hair

by freidasheik1

Went to Sensia on Saturday for color, hair cut. I am 40 years old and was feeling like I needed
a change. My stylist's Vicki for color and Lance for a Haircut did the trick. I
look 10 years younger and my husband and even my 15yr old were happy for me. I will
be going back. My sister recommended this salon and has been trying to get me to go there for a year.Love
the improvement...

Pros: Front desk is busy but efficent..

Cons: none
