I had a great experience with Sportscenter for physical therapy following knee surgery. All of the staff was very knowledgable and fun to work with. They worked with me to determine my goals for physical therapy and developed a plan with measurable milestones to track progress. I highly recommend them.

There is nothing more frustrating for an athlete to be forced onto the sidelines because of an injury. I suffered the worst injury of my life this summer and if it weren't for Sports Center I'd still be out of the game. But thanks to the diligence, care, progressive philosophy, professionalism, enthusiasm and incredible sophistication of their entire operation I am now back in full force!! I wouldn't trust anyone else to lead me back from injury. THANKS SPORTS CENTER!!!! Y'all are the BEST!!!

Pros: Supportive & caring staff, great facilities, flexible appointment times,

Sports Center took me from barely being able to put any weight on my right knee to walking normally! The therapists there are highly professional, personable, and do cutting-edge work. They guided me through a series of carefully planned exercises, specifically designed for me, and gave me careful attention throughout. They were highly encouraging as I came in three times a week for three months. Working out on the Total Gym was invaluable, as well as their "tailgater" machine and stationary bikes. Their attention to balance was extremely insightful and helpful to me, and I continue to do their recommended exercies not only for balance, but for overall knee health and good core work. They not only guided me throughout the time I was coming in to Sports Center, but continue to guide me through my home workouts, as I go in to see them every few months for "tune-ups," get new exercise recommendations, and encouragement. It is without reservation that I give Sports Center a 5-star rating!

Pros: cutting-edge physical therapists, state-of-the-art equipment

Doug Kelsey is an outstanding Physical Therapist, extremely smart and up to date on the latest in PT. The therapists there are very caring and attentive to their clients. Doug also holds free educational talks for patients and those in the medical field. His approach also involves changing attitudes about your injury and reinforces realistic expectations. I higly recommend Sports Center!

I've been going to sports center for the past few months and am now on a home therapy schedule. The therapists there are not only nice, helpful and friendly, they are sincere in their concern for your health and progress. And last month they moved to new and improved facilities - super spacious and well equipped. I've had a great experience there - working my way back to 100%!

Ratings_icons Excellent attention to detail by highly qualified staff got me the result I wanted

garyalanthomas

I was referred with an injured ankle form an automobile accident. After three months of trying medications and braces I was not getting positive results until I began the PT program with the Sports Center. After two months of regular sessions I was pain free. I was clear that I was in good hands from the initial consultation. Every body I interacted with was great. From calling to reschedule an appointment to managing details of my exercises each staff member was great to deal with. I recommend the Sports Center to anyone needing a physical therapy program.

Pros: very friendly, helpful, staff, easy parking, on schedule, professional and knowledgable

Cons: PT is hard work (I suppose that is the cost for the result of full joint function without pain)

Ratings_icons Amazingly knowledgeable staff, committed to educating clients about their physical well being.

I have worked in the medical field most of my adult life so I thought I knew what physical therapy was all about. I have friends and family who have told me their stories, so I was in for a big surprise when I was referred to Sports Center for knee pain. I expected torturous sessions where my knee would be so painful I wouldn't be able to walk. Instead, I went three times a week for a work out that was focused on building my knee and the adjoining muscles and core back up to the strength needed to support my weight and relieve the added stress on the knee. I lost a few pounds, and learned exercises to do from now on to prevent the injury again. In addition, they have wonderful lunch seminars to drop in and learn about preventing injuries. That was amazing to me that a facility that makes money by treating injuries would try to help people from getting injuries at all! Wow!! Their commitment to wellness was so inspiring I have told everyone I know about this great team of therapist. In addition, they were right on the money about expectations for recovery and did not drag out my rehab to pad their own pockets. They sent me home with exercises to keep me healthy. They assisted me with filing insurance claims and getting reimbursed as well as keeping me informed along the way if my insurance would not pay something. I think my favorite thing about the time I spent there was the positive attitude and energy of their office. Everyone from the receptionist to the therapist are pleasant and cheerful. The energy makes it a place you are happy to spend an hour three times a week, even if you are having a nagging injury. I also would exercise next to other people who had mentioned that they had been to other therapist for the same injury and did not get the results they were experiencing with Sports Center. I am now looking forward to the aches and pains of older age which is bound to come, because I have Sports Center.

Pros: Positive energy, help with insurance filing, professional attention to physical needs.

Sports Center just moved into a "Great" new space. The trainers are people who care and ask lots of questions and then work to help you get better. The experiance has been rewarding and I am feeling better too. Thanks to Laurie and Josh for the great encouragement. If I ever need PT again I will be back to work with you guys. Thanks for the personal attention and helping me progress I am looking forward to graduation soon.

Ratings_icons Changing my life!

I've had many injuries and joint surgeries due to a collagen disorder and arthritis. Each time I injure myself I get to do more physical therapy...yippee!!! I'd been to 4 different PT facilities and had the same experience at all 4. They were not very familiar w/ my disease and actually ended up causing me more problems than I'd originally gone in with. Sports Center was different from the beginning. They were very familiar with my condition and they spent an hour with me on my first visit going over my history, surgeries, areas of pain, even MY goals for treatment. They educated me on the physiology of my problem and explained what my treatment plan would look like as well as their goals for therapy.

Since beginning my exercise program for my shoulder replacement 5 weeks ago, I feel better than I have in 8 years! I understand how to help my joint through gentle movement and by strengthening certain muscle groups. For the first time ever, I feel like I can play a proactive role in protecting my joints instead of just waiting for them to become worse. I'm so glad I found Sports Center and Christine!!!

Pros: Knowledgeable staff, they foster independence and a lifestyle change instead of a quick fix

Cons: I wish I'd found it sooner!

Hands down the best thing that happened to help me towards full recovery both physically and mentally after my injury, was when the doctor sent me to Sports Center. The staff is great, they are extremely professional and personable. If you are recovering from an injury and need physical therapy, I highly recommend them, without any reservations. Because of Sports Center, my active lifestyle is back on track, period.

I've had neck and back pain for 12 years and have tried about every treatment on the market ( chiropractors, acupuncturists, homeopaths, and other PTs). They are the ONLY ones that have made a difference. If you truly want to get better, go to Sports Center.

I have never been hurt before I tore my ligaments in my ankle this summer. I was worried I would be out of volleyball for a long time, but I told them I needed to be better by the time my season starts which is late November. Not only will I be done by then, I will be done in less than one more month. The process from being on crutches to playing volleyball full throttle will only take a total of two months. I have no one else to compare them to since I've never been hurt, but the Sports Center is very good at what they do and how quick they help you to improve. I could not be any more satisfied with the work they have done for me to continue playing volleyball. I would recommend the Sports Center to any person with any injury.

Pros: Great equipment that may seem useless at the time when in reality they help a great deal

Cons: nothing to complain about...

Have really enjoyed going to Sports Center Physical Therapy. Everyone seems extremely knowledgeable and always willing to make modifications that will make your therapy tailored to your needs on any given day. My injuries are very longstanding and I have been to many different therapists. Their approach is different than any place I have been and I believe that it has the potential to have long lasting results. It's an upbeat place with a good vibe and you leave everytime knowing that you are little bit better than when you walked in the door.

Pros: knowledgeable staff--everyone from the therapist to the front desk, parking

Cons: none

Ratings_icons Physical therapy with a personal touch

ehstuart

My experience at Sports Center was unlike physical therapy I'd ever had before. Instead of doing things for me, like massage, ultrasound, etc., they helped me learn to do the work I needed to do to decrease the pain and improve the function in my knees. My knee problem was not something that could be repaired surgically, and I had tried working with other physical therapists without success. In fact, it had only resulted in increased pain. I had gone from a very active, physically fit lifestyle to a sedentary existence. Dr. Kelsey's personalized approach to treating my degenerative joint disease involved specific exercise along with nutritional recommendations to improve joint health and tissue repair. The work was time consuming and my response to treatment was not fast, but Mark, Christine and Ryan were steadfast in their support and encouragement throughout it all. The "slow but sure" approach paid off, and I am now back to a healthy, active lifestyle. I even plan to go skiing again this winter. If I ever need physical therapy again, I will definitely return to Sports Center.

Pros: great staff, ample parking, excellent equipment, treatment that really works

Cons: can be time consuming

Ratings_icons Best Physical Therapy practice in the US

I thought I had reached the limit of what physical therapy could do for me until I came across Sports Center Austin. I was a runner with chronic and continually worsening knee pain that spanned several decades. I went to countless orthopedic surgeons and associated PTs over those years and was given the diagnosis of Patellar femoral syndrome, meaning they didn't really know why my knees hurt. I was always given the same sheet of exercises and stretching routines that ought to somehow help. The knee pain finally got severe enough that it was diagnosed as a cartilage injury. For several years after that I had no success in finding doctors or PTs who knew how, or even that you could, treat cartilage injuries. After reading the many articles on the Sports Center website on their techniques and success on treating these kind of injuries, I traveled cross country to the clinic for an evaluation and treatment plan. The team at Sports Center spent more time with me, and were more thorough and comprehensive than any place I have ever been. I especially appreciated the holistic approach where I was treated as a whole person. They are expert at pin pointing the cause of the problem and providing a very specific recovery plan with measurable goals. But more than that, they provided encouragement and check points along the way to help ensure that these goals were met. The emotional component of an injury and the rehab is taken into account. Not only did I achieve the cartilage tissue healing that had eluded me for so long, but I learned a lot about myself and what to do for long term health and maintenance such that I can truly enjoy my running and maintain an active, athletic lifestyle for many more years. Choosing to go to Sports Center Austin for help with my injury was one of the best decisions I have ever made in life.

Lynn Bjorklund

Pros: holistic treatment, encouragement, real tissue healing, coaching, easy paperwork

Cons: I don't live in Austin

Ratings_icons They treat causes, not symptoms

Sportscenter combines common sense with thorough research, high-tech when warranted and low-tech when suitable. (One of the most important tools in their arsenal is a futuristic treadmill with a harness that can ease you back into running at half your "weight" -- equally important tools are bloodpressure cuffs to measure ab flexion and beachballs to enforce balance.) The therapists are friendly and knowledgeable, and push you (but never too much) to get better and be better. I've been to other physical therapists, who look at what's wrong and give you drills to fix it. Sportscenter looks at what /caused/ the problem, and gives you exercises and knowledge to make sure it doesn't reoccur.

A testament to their dedication: at your initial consultation Dr. Kellsey interviews /you/, to find out your goals for therapy and your level of commitment. Whatever you're aiming for -- whether it's to walk again or to move up to ironman-length triathlons -- they create and follow a completely ends-focused therapy plan that will get you to that goal and make it *fun*.

Pros: Knowledgeable, Friendly, Work with insurance situation, Central Location, Pleasant atmosphere

I tore my acl in April. Started physical therapy at the Sports center for pre-operation. They had very convenient late hours to go along with my work schedule (Kindergarten teacher). They prepared me for knee reconstruction surgery in June. Which went wonderfully and recovery went quicker than expected. Had post surgery physical therapy for about a month with no complications. Was able to start the new school year without any problems. Doing great. I highly recommend them for not only convenient hours but for their knowledge, friendliness, and positive atmosphere. I have actually recommended them to several classroom parents and coworkers.

Pros: evening hours, positive atmosphere, knowledgable

Cons: can't think of any

I've had multiple needs for physical therapy over the last several years and I can't more highly recommend Sports Center or its staff - therapists and support. The therapists are exceedingly knowledgeable, patient, kind, yet firm in working with me to clarify my needs, developing a strategy, and supporting my efforts needed to work through the issues that bring me there. The support staff are always helpful, easy to work with, kind, and interested whenever I need to discuss any matter with them. Plus they're all just plum great people. This a place where mutual respect is nurtured and celebrated.

The facility itself is wonderfully arranged and is full of exactly the right equipment needed for physical therapy of any imaginable sort. What greatly impresses me is that the whole Sports Center situation is setup to be a calm place where you can directly and effectively get the help you need to help you recover from what ails you, unencumbered by distractions or disinterest. I've worked with physical therapists and other medical practitioners over the years and have never had the fortune to work within a better situation. I greatly recommend to anyone they try these great folks out. You'll be glad you did!

Pros: Professionalism, kindness, skills and knowledge, ambience, parking, service, location,

Ratings_icons Sports Center's advanced approach to PT gets results quickly

jbargas

I've had chronic ankle injuries which have required rehab over the years. Last summer I had surgery to reconnect three ligaments. It was no surprise that I had no strength or stability after nearly three months on crutches. A month of treatment (3x/week) saw new strength and agility in both legs. The progress kept improving throughout the course of my treatments.

I never reached my goal of a 42" vertical leap, but that has more to do with age and gravity and little to do with the Sports Center staff.

I've referred my broken friends to Sports Center as well. They all agree that the environment and staff are great. The only limiting factor is your determination.

Ratings_icons PT with real pros for real athletes

roxxen

The concept of PT is none to appealing for any real athlete that gets put out of their game!!! I loved the professionalism (Christine and everyone on staff are AWESOME) and sound scientific approach. Improvement is carefully measured and programs are scaled appropriately. My worst fear in having PT was that it'd be fluffy and substanceless (gathered from many of my fellow athletes' horror stories). This was certainly NOT the case at Sports Center. These people are the real deal when it comes to rehabbing an injury and getting back in your game!

Pros: extremely professional, smooth scheduling, and staff that know their stuff

Cons: none that I can think of

I was a full time mom with a full time mom injury. My muscles had weakened, actually everything had weakened after my second pregnancy. When I began having extreme pain while kneeing to bathe my children, my docotor recommended Sports Center because it was, according to his words, "the place to send people who really want to get better". I was able to work with Christine and other staff members to complete the goals that were set with my input. The staff always helped me to feel as though I was personally in control of my healing process. They asked about my children each time I came in, which helped me focus on my goal of being about to play with my kids and not have knee pain while doing it. Thanks to all I learned while in PT I have not had the knee pain return. My kids get baths on a regular basis without any complaints from me...Oh yeah, we also love running, walking, playing soccer, and wrestling! Three cheers for the team at Sports Center!!!

I haven't needed physical therapy before but this seems like THE place to go. It is kind of like going to the gym and having several personal trainers hanging around. The office staff is very friendly and takes care of working with the insurance companies. The therapy area is very clean and well organized. The therapists are extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They also offer great advice for getting better when you are not at physical therapy. If you have the same appointment times each week, you kind of get to know the other peolple that are rehabing. It's a great environment. Oh yea...and the music is pretty good too.

I can not say enough good about our experience with Sports Center. My 15 yr old son tore his patella tendon lifting weights and was sent to Sports Center by Dr. Davis. He told us that Sports Center was the place he would send his son if he wanted to get him ready to play football and soccer. We were at Sports Center 4 days a week for 8 weeks. From the moment we walked in we were put at ease. The trainers were knowledgeable, motivating and consistent. They kept us constantly informed and helped my 15 year old work through the frustration of not getting to start football with his teammates. However, they did get him ready in time for the season to start and he went back stronger than ever. They were very good at explaining what they were having him do, and why they were having him do it. Josh Espinoza was our main trainer, but all of the trainers took part. If Josh was busy and another trainer like Christine or Laurie saw that our son needed help or guidance, then they were there. The Center is equipped to deal with any and every type of injury. My family and I will not go anywhere else if and when the need for Physical therapy arises. Not only were they incredibly professional, but you were made to feel like your were a part of the family, from the front desk ladies to the trainers. Sports Center is top notch and there is no other like it! They are the best!

Pros: Professional Staff, Parking, Flexible schedules

Cons: NONE

Ratings_icons Recommendation for Sports Center

rcal

I was a patient at Sports Center two years ago. I had broken leg.
I had over a year with another excellent PT who recommended Sports Center when I indicated that I'd like to get active again. After a consultation with Dr. Kelsey, where he checked gait and discussed goals, among other things, we started a twice a week program. Eventually, after a couple of months, I started seeing the results I was hoping for: I was gaining mobility while experiencing less pain.
My stint with Sports Center ended amid insurance mixup.
I do recommend Sports Center. However, it may not be for everyone. I think if you like challenges, this could be a good place to do it without hurting yourself. I've aggravated my injury a few times by not being able to judge my limits.
Mr. Kelsey, Ms. Springer, Mr. Smith and Ms. Francis made me feel comfortable while I was there.
As a matter of suggestion, check and double check with your insurance to be certain that you are covered, sometimes, an insurance company will decide once you've regained the ability to move around a little, that moving pain free or doing exercise comfortably is a luxury.
Communication with your PT is extremely important. For a short time, Ms. Springer had me keep a record of pain, walking, stair climbing that was tedious to do but helped me ( and her ) understand where I was in terms of recovery, rehab and conditioning.
Conditioning included lots of core conditioning, strength work, cardio and a little flexibility.
Although I haven't talked to anyone there in about two years, my opinion is favorable based on that experience.
Hope this helps.

I have been to PT before and Sportscenter is by far the best. Every PT in there is easy to work with and fun to be around, that makes me want to make it in there 3 times a week. The facilities are great and those are their old ones. Currently they are building a new facility - I don't see how it could be better. If you have dreaded going to rehab in the past, you won't have to do it here.

Pros: You never have to wait, great staff, fun atmosphere

I love to dance. I am addicted to Argentine Tango. I dance, not like the youngish 50 something woman I am, but like an athletic kid. A small tear in my right knee threatened this passion, and a wise orthopedist asked me if I'd like to try healing without surgery. A previous shoulder injury (partner dancing IS a contact sport), taught me the difference between skilled and unskilled physical therapy. One produces results and the other doesn't. I asked him to refer me to the best. I couldn't afford to waste time getting back on the dance floor. Enter The Sports Center and Dr. Doug Kelsey and staff. Their knowledge and skill taught me that to settle for a life without the thrill of movement was just dumb. I got the results I wanted and I learned a lot in the process. My husband recently became a patient and now understands my enthusiasm for this wonderful group of professionals. Don't wait. Get back in the swing of things, be it dance, golf, tennis.......The Sports Center is great.

Great therapy. No pain is a guiding principle. When combined with measurable ojectives, a framework for success is created.

Sport Center's process is designed to strenthen muscles without stressing injured joints and connective tissues until those tissues have become strong enough to take the stress. Innovative techniques are used, including using gradually increasing inclines, vertical supports and multiple vectors, so that muscles can be greadually strengthened until they can stand appropriate stress. Therapy changs as performance improvement allows.

The therapy staff are knowledgeable, well trained, follow excellent procedures, and then listen well. Again, Sport Center's design for success.

Sport Center is expanding because of expanding case loads that are due to happy customers. I am one.

Five Stars.

48 years of an active life have left me with a few injuries and arthritis setting in but I have a great desire to maintain an active lifestyle without doing further injury. The Sports Center is teaching me new approaches to reach my goal and maintain an active lifestyle. All of my workouts have been overseen with professionalism, care & I feel like I have been granted the gift of knowledge in understanding how my body responds to different exercises and how to avoid future injuries. I have been a "tough" case but they have continued to work through my issues to find solutions that work for my knees to get them to the healthiest possible state. The professionalism is seen from the moment I check in to the moment I leave. I look forward to my sessions - I have made some great friends that truly care about my outcome.

I had two surgeries on my shoulder after a bad bike accident and 3 rounds of physical therapy at another clinic with no improvement in pain, strength or mobility. After being referred to Sportscenter by the doc I went to for a second opinion, I was really skeptical that more PT would help. But I was impressed by the thorough assessment I received at my initial consultation at Sportscenter, so I decided to give it a try. The PT at Sportcenter is like nothing I'd previously experienced. It was a lot of hard work, but my therapist was there all the way, tweaking my program, continuing to monitor my results, offering encouragement, and really listening to me. Best of all, my shoulder is unbelievably improved, better than I ever thought it could be. I'm getting back into the activities I enjoy and am surprising pain free. Expect to work hard as a Sportscenter client, but know that your therapist will be committed to you and your success. Their office staff also are great and were able to get my insurance company to extend my benefits past the limit in my policy---another miracle!

Pros: Competent, professional, hard working and supportive physical therapists

Cons: Can be hard to schedule appointments at convenient times

If you haven't been to Sportscenter, you haven't had the chance to experience the benefits of physical therapy. At SC, you're not a patient under a healthcare system; you're a client with individual interests and goals. Personally, I struggled with ankle pain for most of a decade and had to end my swimming career prematurely to undergo four reconstructive ankle surgeries. Having experienced traditional physical therapies prior to SC, I was not therapy's 'biggest fan.' In fact, I was apprehensive about the whole process, mostly because I knew it would take time and effort on my part, and I didn't want to get my hopes up and only be disappointed by my results.

When I started at Sportscenter, I remember being asked what long-term goal I wished to achieve, even if it seemed impossible. I replied that I would like to experience a day without any pain whatsoever. I believe that the staff of SC kept my goal in their minds throughout my training sessions. The physical therapists create a personalized 'training plan' which allows you to track your progress visually. I believe this helped me develop a sense that I was actually progressing in my treatment.

The days weren't all easy. Some days I wanted to quit or just find a way to cope with my pain. During those times, SC staff, therapists and other clients were there to encourage me to keep trying, which got me through the rough times.

I graduated Sportscenter in May, 2007, and have enjoyed a stabilized ankle since. Without the help of SC, I would never have imagined a world where I am physically capable of achieving my goals both in and out of sports. I have relocated to Dublin, Ire., and have re-entered the world of swimming, something I never thought I'd be able to do. I am currently training for the English Channel, which I am scheduled to complete in 2009. I went to SC broken and in pain; I left stabilized and confident. And yes, I achieved my long-term goal and thoroughly enjoy my days of being 100% pain-free.

Ratings_icons Professional, caring therapists, even if you are out of shape!

clpinaustin

I'm a 56 yr old female who fell and broke my shoulder in two places, luckily no surgery, however an enormous amount of PT was needed. I am overweight and out of shape, and dreaded going. They worked with me at my level, and brought me up to their level. They explained what I was doing and why it was important. Every therapist there knew my program and any of them could help me if I forgot what I was doing, (which I did at first) . I would and have recommended this PT facility to everyone I meet who needs to go to PT. I really was impressed with the professional thereapists that worked with me, showing compassion and caring. I will never go anywhere else!

Pros: True professional therapists, parking, always on time, explanations of what you are doing.

Cons: no cons

Ratings_icons Don't Settle for the Hype & Sales Pitch

I'm a runner and was recovering from a hip stress fracture. At Sports Center, I felt like a commodity. The PT assigned to me showed me the exercises during my first session and then expected me to do the routine from a clip board during subsequent sessions. I received very little personalized attention & spent the majority of the hour on the zero-gravity treadmill. I finally decided to change PT offices and canceled all of my appointments. I never received a call or inquiry from Sports Center.

At the new physical therapist's office I discovered a world of difference. At the new place I was also given massage in the injured area and sonography therapy.

It's possible that there are good PTs at Sports Center; however, it seemed as if SC is more interested in the PT fee than in seeing you healthy and active again. If you go to Sports Center - ask if you will be treated in part with massage, passive stretching, and sonography therapy.

Pros: Very helpful office staff, clean

Cons: Impersonal

Ratings_icons Great Physical Therapy, Major or Minor

zach_sumners

I came into Sports Center fresh off of surgury to repair a completely torn rotator cuff, extremely painful stuff. Before my therapy a day was devoted to assembling the plan best suited for my expected level of eventual performance and my daily work schedule. The environment is one i would describe as very therapeutic, and most of the other patients you'll see will have schedules similar to yours, adding a definite level of encouragement you likely wont find in a bigger, less-personal clinics. Exercises and routines are rarely repeated, helping to relieve most of the boredom that comes with being in the process of recovery.

Most importantly, Sports Center is staffed by some great people, all of whom showed no hesitation ensuring that my experience was the best it could be.

Pros: Great environment, Amazing doctors

Cons: Nobody likes physical therapy

Ratings_icons HOLY COW

Not in a million years could someone have convinced me that PT could be FUN, insightful, and my favorite activity of the week! Not until I experienced it for myself that is! I thought physical therapy was a grueling, cumbersome, ugly process, where mean therapists do horribly painful things to get you going again. God, I dreaded it. But go I did. And I couldn't be more thrilled.

When I first went I was impressed right away with the front desk staff. The trainers in the lab usually get all the kudos (because they really ARE amazing), but I wouldn't have made it that far if women at the front desk hadn't made me feel welcome and well attended to right from the start. They always pick up the phone (no nasty press-this -and-now-that -and-then-this phone system), return my calls promptly when I leave messages afterhours, and try to work me in when I have to schedule at the last minute. And they never ever give me grief about eating too much of the "good' candy in the bowl on the counter (despite my growing hips!)

But the front desk will only get you so far. If you didn't like the PT trainers, you wouldn't come back. But who wouldn't come back with staff like Megan and Laurie and Josh and Cristine??? They spend an inordinate amount of time making a personal connection with everyone who comes through the door. I really feel like I'm walking into an extended "family". It's not just me either. They are each really present and genuine with every one of us. It's because of them that I have upped my PT sessions to four or five times a week from the suggested 2-3, which I wouldn't do if I wasn't having more fun in PT than outside of it. I'm certain that has only improved my rate of recovery, especially since they are so very careful about adjusting for even the smallest physical symptom.

Whatever their system is for hiring and running that place, it should be copied. I have to remind myself that graduating to full health again (and leaving them) is a good thing!

Pros: Free parking, flat screens with sports, insurance knowledge, candy bowls, late hours, equipment, creativity/ sensitivity/ compassion, flexible scheduling, candy bowls

Cons: Closed on Saturdays, candy (the good stuff)

Ratings_icons The Best Physical Therapy Facility For ATHLETES !!

julieseaton

I am a 47 yr old female who now actively competes in age group racing, from Masters track meets, 5K's, 10Ks and up to the 1/2 marathon. I had a great career in sprints/middle distance (100 - 800) at the University of Nebraska on a full track and field scholarship in the late 70's early 80's, after individual State championships in Illinois in High School. I had developed a strained hamstring from alot of racing and speed training, and have had intermittent problems with hamstrings over the years since my college career whenever I increased speed training. The Sports Center is absolutely the best Physical Therapy facility for athletes that I have found since moving here in the 80's. They understand athletes and athletic injuries, and find weaknesses in other areas that may be causing a chronic injury and work to develop and heal you in all areas. Their staff is amazing, knowlegeable, and trained in athletic injuries. You cannot find this type of expertise just anywhere, and I felt as if I was being cared for by the best again, like in my college days in the University of Nebraska Athletic training room!!! I am running again, almost back to full speed and conditioning that I was before I injured my hamstring in July. I am continuing the return to running program that increases running length gradually, and continuing the strengthening exercises, and I feel stronger than ever.!!! Thanks Sports Center!

Ratings_icons well worth the wait-list to join!!

brianjboyd

It may take you a while to be able to sign up for SportsCenter, and that's for a reason - there are always people who want to join! I'm 21, tore a disk in my back, and was struggling with plantar faciitis and achilles tendonosis all at the same time .. and the progress I made at SportsCenter in a single summer was simply amazing: I went from being on crutches to beginning to jog once again!
You definitely need to come into it with the right attitude: if your injury is bad, it will take months, and you have to be willing to go through the frustration without giving up. But there's always something be learned about yourself in the process - and the staff at SportsCenter is always doing what they can to help.
If something is wrong with you, seriously, I was bouncing from doctor to doctor in the Austin/Round Rock area, and the people at SportsCenter were the only ones who knew how to fix me. - More importantly, how to teach me to fix myself.

Ratings_icons Great one on one attention, customized recovery plans

gdruber

I'm a 35 yr old male, who had major reconstructive surgery on my shoulder socket. The socket had chipped off in my late teens. I went to many surgeons and physical therapists. All of them told me they couldn't fix my shoulder and I would just have to live with the chronic dislocation. Finally after dislocating my shoulder changing my shirt, I found a great surgeon in Austin, who grafted a bone to reform the socket and re-attached my tendons, ligaments and muscles to the socket. I kept the arm in a sling for a month. When I was out of the sling. I couldn't lift or move my entire arm. I went to the Sportscenter and they custom-tailored a recovery program around my needs. They made sure that I didn't recover to quickly but at the same time they didn't drag the program on and on. It has been 4 years since my surgery and rehab. I haven't dislocated the shoulder since the surgery. I am completely healed. This would have never happened without the expertise and attention that Sports Center provided to me. My whole life has changed because of this. I can ski, exercise, play sports; really do anything and be confident that I won't dislocate my shoulder. This is a great place to go to get better.

Pros: Customization of program, knowledge of therapists, great atmosphere, extremely flexible scheduling

Ratings_icons SportsCenter got me back on the mound

goebel_m

After I had elbow surgery on my pitching arm and had to sit out my junior season at Tulane University, SportsCenter got me back healthy and on the mound again.

The quality of care and attention that I recieved were critical to my comeback. The trainers at SportsCenter are excellent at monitoring the rehab progress and create programs specific to each client's needs.

I will definitely use SportsCenter again should I have any future physical therapy needs.

Ratings_icons For Intelligent PT

kyledsmith

The Sports Center is the reason I live a normal and productive life today. My injuries included a broken left elbow, right tibia and fibula and right crushed heel. I was destined to walk on a cane at best. When I finally found the Sports Center (thanks to my caring PT sister) my existing treatment was getting me nowhere. Dr. Kelsey evaluated me and asked me to describe my treatment goals. I told him my main objective was to walk without an assisted device - I was using a walker at this time. At Christmastime I was set-up on a blind date and as you can imagine not about to show up on a walker! I was finally ready for a cane. My Sports Center PT, Christine, (having had an injury in her past) allowed me to use her cane. It was cane travel from then on for me! Today I walk without an assisted device and wear my Z-Coils (also recommended by Christine) each and every day. I am able to walk around the block, use the treadmill and even travel which I love. Suffice it to say the Sports Center brightened not only my future but my son's future as well. Thank you, Sports Center!!

Ratings_icons Best place to get better

suzyqtexas

I have been to 3 physical therapists before this one and I have gotten the most out of my time spent here. They tailor everything to each person's needs and really pay attention to what works for you. They ask you what goals you hope to reach in order to determine how to help you achieve them. They will even help if your goals are to be able to run a marathon again. The staff is really friendly and personable yet also very professional. They all seem to have a deep knowledge of physical therapy. I highly recommend Sports Center.

Pros: Friendly Staff, Knowledgeable,

Ratings_icons OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONALS WHO ARE PIONEERS of PHYSICAL THERAPY!

brantschroeder

Imagine taking your beat up Volvo in for a tune-up and coming out with a souped up Ferarri with the knowledge of how to drive it and take care of it.

Thats what you get when you go to Sports Center. Outstanding customer service: a staff that picks up the phone each and every time and returns every call with professional courtesy.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: You get a staff who is the best in what they do and their background of results shows it. Sports Center is patient oriented first and foremost: they not only use revolutionary physical therapy techniques to fix you, but they teach you how to maintain yourself.

Sports Center does not feel like a medical clinic but rather a classy, highly motivated athletic training facility where you'll pick up a great vibe regardless of your background. Great attitudes and better music is not far off.

As a out-of-state medical professional post-op from a complex, major open knee surgery, I was very impressed when I asked my surgeon's charge nurse advice on where to go. "Sports Center and nowhere else!," I was highly impressed. Upon my first visit, I was blown away. 4 months later, I was fully healed and running around with results most patients could only dream of.

Bottom line: If you go anywhere else, you're ripping yourself off. Convenient to anywhere with highly accessible hours and the greatest staff in their business.

512-206-0433 It will be the best call you ever made.

Pros: RESULTS-ORIENTED, CARING, PASSIONATE PROFESSIONALS, HOURS, LOCATION, AVAILABILITY, INCREDIBLE ATMOSPHERE

Cons: absolutely none.
