I love this little gourmet and gift shop. They have the most unusual and best selections of domestic and imported goodies. From food to gift items.
The "mom & pop" team that run this shop are the nicest and most knowledgeable
people I know in this type of business. They make shopping here like a taking a mini vacation in Italy.

Wonderful shopping experience!
by kenzie33
The first time I went to this store, I was so surprised to see such a variety of unique food items from Italy - 14 lbs of dried San Marzano tomatoes in a tiny jar, smoked pasta, truffle salt, and more. The owners have done a superb job of purchasing interesting and delicious foods that I have never found elsewhere in the Metroplex. The foods are wonderful but the customer service is top-notch. During the holidays, I ordered a customized gift basket - it was sent the same day!
Pros: Customer Service, unique foods and gifts, pottery
Cons: None I could find!

Great shopping for kitchen and entertaining-related items, wonderful owners
by mlhops
I "re-discovered" Flavors from Afar after they moved across the street in Snider Plaza. It has become one of my favorite shopping destinations. I can get great olive oil and vinegars as well as all sorts of kitchen and entertaining items, not to mention a cappucino if I want one. It's almost like going back to Italy! Nancy and Gary are delightful and very helpful. Don't miss this store.
Pros: Owners are enthusiastic and know a lot about their merchandise. Great selection.
Cons: Can't think of any.

Flavors From Afar has wonderful specialty items from all over - specializing in Italy. They have an extraordinary selection (and variety) of olive oils, balsamic vinegars, dips and sauces. They have service dishes, The Wine Clip, anything and everything you could possibly want to give or get as a gift. I enjoyed the balsamic vinegar and olive oil tasting party - I never realized the variations possible!
Run, don't walk for your holiday shopping!
Pros: Knowledgeable owners, Great selection of specialized products

Flavors From Afar has grown up right in front of us.
by joycehobbs
My first trip there was to "sample" olive oils. Whoever heard of such a thing? The owners are friendly and always have time for conversation, advice, recipes and showing off new products that we never knew we needed. (wine clip, tomato seeds from Italy, olive tree etc.) They have great gift ideas for that special someone on your gift list who has "everything. " The balsamic vinegar tastings will convince one why it is worth forking over the money for this delectable item. My husband never knew we needed this and now gets in a panic if we don't have any in the pantry. ("this can go on strawberries?")The owners are always bringing in new items from near and far. It is truly a treasure chest. See for yourself!
Pros: Friendly and knowledgeable owners.
Cons: parking in snider plaza

Not your typical store!
by jubella
Flavors From Afar continues to beat expectations. I recently stopped in and filled a jar with their rosemary infused olive oil. Gary recommended tossing it in pasta and you'll look like a gourmet cook! He was right. Just imagine being able to refill you olive oil just like the Italians do in their own village. The service is personal -- they even lead trips to Italy with their customers!! My favorite touch is the e-mail newsletter which is full of interesting tidbits and specials. The store is always changing so you have to read the newsletter and visit often!

Great place to take your out-of-town "foodie" friends
by wendshel
Flavors from Afar is always on the must do list for our out-of-town foodie friends. Once they check it out, they always want to come back! No matter where our friends are from, they've never seen anything like it. The products are so fresh and interesting, and the customer service can't be beat (either can Gary's cappuccinos!!!) Where else can you "try before you buy" and find the one of a kind items Nancy and Gary so carefully select. The attention to detail that they have is practically unheard of in our fast paced and fast food world.
Excellent place to purchase gifts for all of the foodies and foodie wanna-be's on your list!
Pros: Nancy and Gary - (the owners), selection of unique items

Best foodie shop even for non-foodies
by melindaramsey
Unique finds at Flavors from Afar don't stop with the food items. Nancy and Gary have an incredible selection of Italian pottery, linens and hand milled soaps all at really great prices.
I have never gone in the store without buying Honey Ginger Teryaki sauce. Usually I buy 3-4 at a time to avoid a teryaki catastrophe later. In fact, I don't pass the store without stopping in. After I stock up on the teryaki I then move on to the Spunny... What is Spunny??? Spunny is actually only available in Texas at Flavors From Afar. It is bee keepers reserve pure clover honey that is the consistancy of butter. Put that on your biscuit and call it a day.
I should also mention Wine Glace. Sister, this is good stuff. One package makes two blender fulls...what a deal. You put half the glace and some Shiraz in the blender then mix then add ice then mix again. This is very much like a grown up slurpee. This also makes a great gift.
Great store and wonderful owners!! Nancy and Gary have a good thing going.
Pros: Nancy and Gary Krabill's attention to customer service
Cons: none

Italian pottery and fresh eggs!
by wolfevideo
They have the most beautiful Italian pottery I have ever seen all in one place! It?s the perfect place to find the gift for your highland park friends that are really hard to buy for. They have gift certificates too. Once you go you will understand. I go for the farm fresh eggs and refrigerated choices ( they have a VERY small selection) of fine cheeses and delectable?s.
Pros: Hand picked top of the line items
Cons: none

Perfect wedding gift!
by calgal4u2
I found a great wedding gift for my friends that ?have everything? This was her second marriage at age 50 so she didn?t register and is not traditional in her taste. The fine ceramics gave me quite a choice on the Italian pottery and the vinegars and special teas and gift basket items made a thoughtfully well put together gift that she absolutely LOVED! You can even call and they will put one together for you. They are EXPERTS on the unique gift for the hard to find items for the hard to please giftees. Good job Flavor from Afar! You saved me!
Pros: Very high quality, huge, hand- picked selection! Owner operated!
Cons: none

The mose AMAZING balsamic vinegar!
by wendyyork
Wow, you really have to visit this find! They have local farm eggs, cheese ( imported and local) and all kinds of specialty items that are really hard to find. My favorite thing was the balsamic vinegar the woman had me taste. She said it was over 100 years old and when it touched my tongue it exploded with flavor! They really ARE flavors from afar! Out of this world far! Perfect place for a hostess gift, to host a girls (women?s) tasting party, get fresh eggs, or even find the sought after Dough Monkey cookies! Go now!
Pros: Amazing stuff
Cons: none
