No reputable breeder sells puppies through a pet store. PERIOD. Reputable breeders care where their animals go - they ask lots of questions of potential purchasers, maybe even do a home check, and will take their dogs back if a congenital defect turns up or other problems occur. That ain't what's going on here folks. Marcy D says "As far as the Puppy mill thing. I'm sure if that were the case, he would be shut down by now." Really? Have you never heard of Petland, Marcy D - you know, the huge international pet store chain that continues to sell thousands and thousands of puppy mill puppies every year while the puppies' parents live their short painful lives in filth and squalor back at the mills and the puppy broker Hunte Corp. and Petland rake in literally millions of dollars? People - please educate yourselves. Google "how to buy a puppy" please I beg you. Better yet, go to your local shelter and save a dog from death. Or google "[your favorite breed] rescue, Texas" if you think you just HAVE to have a particular breed. As long as people buy puppies from pet stores, puppy mills will continue to exist. No more pet store puppies bought, no more mills. Simple as that. (note - I put 1 star on this only because I was afraid if I left it blank it would automatically revert to 4 stars)

We got our Cairn Terrier from Partners Pet Shop about 2 months ago...she's the best puppy ever! Adam and his staff were wonderful and answered all our questions thoroughly since she was our first dog. I thought all the animals waiting for a new home looked happy and clean. I highly recommend Partners Pet Shop!

User Rating: 5 out of 5 stars by Marcy and Katy 04/22/2009 We have done alot of business with Partners thru the years. We have always found what we needed and found it in great shape, including rabbits, fish, hamsters and a chinchilla just recently (4-09). I have a nine year old daughter and she has been going to this store since she was four. The owner and all the workers there have always been very kind to her and myself. Now there have been times they don't want the puppies held if they have been held too much that day or if they know there really is no way the parent is going to buy it. This only makes it harder on the child if the pet store allows children to hold the animals. So I applaud the owner for not letting the animals being held at times as I have had to drag my daughter out of stores crying when she did get to hold things and I wouldn't then buy them. Sometimes it is okay to say no and alot of times it's better for the child.I can also say I have never seen these animals being abused or neglected nor are their surroundings and habitats unsuitable or inhumane. The owner is a very nice man and has been doing this for years and being around animals everyday is not something someone does just for the $. If he was just interested in the $ there are plenty of other things he could do then clean lizard and dog poop up everyday! No, I have no doubt this man loves these animals and has their best interest at heart. Now, with all that said, he does have a very dry sense of humor and is very witty. You just have to be able to joke back and take alot of his dry demeanor with a grain of salt. He really does value your patronage and he does care for the animals. I am 100% convinced of this, or I wouldn't do business there. As far as the Puppy mill thing. I'm sure if that were the case, he would be shut down by now. How about - He has a good selection...! Why do you people have to be so negative? The cages are no smaller than say Pet smart or Pet co.... They have also taken hamsters, mice, fish and even a bearded dragon from us for consignment or discounts on our next purchase. He would rather you bring them in where he can find good homes for them then let them lose into the wild or give them to some place where they won't be properly cared for.The store does tend to be a little crowded but is much better at the new location. He tries to carry a great variety of all things domestic and exotic pet owners could need. In which case, a little crowded is a good thing. We have frequented Pet smart, Pet-co and Zoo keepers. Though they are all very good, we prefer this store, Partners due to the personable and fun atmosphere. Many Thanks to Adam and his staff for their dedication to animals and this uniquely wonderful store! Some of these people leaving reviews need to get a sense of humor and stop with all the ridicule and perhaps inventory their own lives and habitat.Marcy and Katy

The owner is knowledgeable about the animals. The advice the I received from him concerning my turtles was right on the money. Although it is not a big chain the prices are excellent. I recommend it highly.

If you think poor customer service, bad attitudes, or out right ignoring customers is terrific, then this place is for you!!!!Never have I had such poor customer service, not even a hello when you walk in nor a SMILE, when you check out. A thank you? Forget about it!!! Not going to happen!!They're pets are close to dead when you buy them, I don't know how they keep stock!! Don't even think to take an animal to them for purchase because they'll offer you next to nothing. (We had to get rid of a beloved cockatiel due to allergies) Go to Craig's list and find someone that will love your pet as much as you!

Myself like other Round Rock residents use to buy our fish and aquarium supplies from Partners but have stopped since they started selling puppies crammed in small cages by IRRESPONSIBLE breeders who breed POOR QUALITY registered dogs for almost nothing to pet stores like Partners . Not to mention the quality of fish has gone down hill now that they make most of their money selling over priced poorly bred puppies. When asked whom the breeder was of the NUMEROUS poor quality breeds crammed in a small wire cage I was told it was a very responsible breeder they know from Corpus Christi but I was not given a name for obvious reasons! Hello, no REPUTABLE breeder would every sell to a pet store and they only specialize in ONE BREED that is why Petco and Petsmart dont sell puppies. The puppies were lethargic and had feces smeared all over their butts and the smell was awful on SEVERAL visits. Didnt keep ignorant people from purchasing them though!During one visit there was a large dead rat in one of the cages that had the saw dust covered in blood with other rats EATING it! I will no longer shop at Partners with my chidren and will drive into Austin to purchase quality fish and supplies.

I got 2 of the most precious puppies from Partners and have found Adam and the staff there to be just incredible! In a world where above board, ethical business people are sometimes hard to find - I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work with Partners - they exemplify those characteristics!
I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who appreciates good, honest people who care about animals and their customers!!

I love this pet store! They have everything under the sun, puppies, birds, fish, mice, rats, hamsters, bunnies, reptiles, hedgehogs.... just about anything you can imagine! The staff is very friendly and helpful and while parking can be a pain in their tiny parking lot, the store is in a very convenient location in Round Rock. My kids love going there to look at all the animals and pet the puppies.
PROS: friendly staff, lots of different animals
CONS: tiny parking lot

This pet shop is located close to Dell and plenty of other stores so it is quite convenient to shop here. The parking lot is small so sometimes it's hard to find a parking spot. There are all kinds of animals to look at which is my kids favorite thing to do. They've got all the equipment and accessories that you can possibly want and the prices aren't much different than the bigger chain stores. Customer service is nice and the store is kept clean.
PROS: Clean and friendly environment
CONS: Parking

Now this is what a pet store is supposed to be! A nice, wide variety of critters, and everything you need to care for them. Whether you're into warm and fuzzy or cool and scaly, they've got it! The staff is very knowledgable and friendly. My kids love going here to pet the puppies and look at all the fish and other animals.
PROS: Great variety, nice people
CONS: no kitties?

I love shopping at Partners. The selection of tropical fish is great and you know they're healthy by looking at them. They have a large assortment of products for all types of animals including reptiles and they're prices are great! Much friendlier setting than getting lost in Petsmart! The staff knows exactly what they're talking about when it comes to pets.
PROS: Lower Prices, Don't get lost in the store!
CONS: Where's the puppies!!!???

Partners Pet Center is a welcome change from the corporate cookie-cutter pet stores. This is an old fashioned pet shop that has a little of everything, from reptiles to puppies and from rodents to aquaria with everything you need to properly care for these animals. We are avid marine hobbyists, and this is one of the few pet shops in the area that consistently has quality saltwater fish and supplies. We are continually impressed by the knowledge of the staff, and they have given us advice that has prevented us from making serious blunders in the care of our aquariums.
They sell ready-made saltwater by the gallon, and the quality of this water is impeccable. Their prices are more than reasonable on all pet foods and supplies, often being far cheaper than the chain stores. They stock hard-to-find items and supplies as well as the more typical stock found in the pet trade. Not only is this a respectable shop, but it is also a nice place to browse on a leisurely afternoon.
