Real hole in the wall type of place that gets PACKED. Not so surprising, the food is excellent. In particular, the salsa... truly the best salsa i've ever had.
Not a big fan of their refried beans though. Last few times have been a bit off. Doesnt matter since their breakfast tacos is what makes them golden.
I've never ordered anything other than the breakfast tacos there.. its that good.
There's nothing like a Saturday morning row on Town Lake and a trip to Juan in a MIllion for a Don Juan breakfast taco. For $3.25, you find more than enough delicious food on your plate.
The place packs quickly and parking could be tough, but it's a fun, cheap morning trip. You can't really beat this kind of deal.
Tried this place for the 1st time after hearing so much about it. I was unimpressed! We got there before the Sunday 11 am crowd so that was good and our waitress was pleasant and the food came out quick and the portions were large. But...the support staff that took us to the table and the ones that bring your drinks were both asked to bring us a child's booster to no avail, and even as we stood there standing by the table holding my 2 yr old in my arms trying to get one of their attention, no other suport staff asked if we needed something, they were all too busy to even look at us. And the food..what was all the hype about? The Don Juan had so much mushy potatoes that I could not even taste the eggs or the minute amount of bacon in it, and the queso was ok but very soupy. I have had much better at many a taco stands.
Pros: Cheap, Fast, Large Portions, Waitress
Cons: Don Juan, Queso, Suport Service
Juan in a Million :(. I had remembered it being good, it was awful. Canned beans, canned tinny tasting green enchalada sauce, mushy totillas and bland bland bland! Carne Guisada that tasted like bland pot roast. I guess the TV fame went to their heads. Thumbs down, both of them. Long wait for bad food.
Pros: Great location
Cons: Long wait for bad food.
This place is great for breakfast. On most weekend mornings, the owner Juan is there to give you the best handshake of your life. On Saturday and Sunday morning when you are hung over, come here. The Don Juan is heaven in a breakfast taco. It is so much food for so cheap. The hot sauce is great, but be warned it is a little spicy. The queso is great as well.
Pros: Great Food, Great Handshake, Great Service
Cons: Parking lot has bad layout
Leanest and tastiest barbacoa West of the San Antoino River and how more "Texmexican" can you get than that?
Took the whole family here and really enjoyed it. Coffee was even great instead of that horribly strong coffee many other places serve. The Don Juan is so massive and at only $3.25 I swear it serves 3 people. Extra tortillas are only .15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The people there are so very nice, we will return undoubtably.
No air conditioning in the bathrooms (UGH!), and a concern I had was each bathroom/gender shares the sink, so be sure to escort your children to the bathroom. I know my daughter would be freaked out if a man was standing there washing their hands.
Pros: Food, coffee, service, value
Cons: Location a little sketchy, crowded tables has you rubbing elbows
You couldn't find a better, bigger, faster, tastier taco than at Juan in a Million. This place is such a gem. It gets pretty crowded on the weekends, and I'm sure you can imagine why. It's where authentic breakfast tacos meet hipster east austin, and it's a keeper for sure!
Pros: CHEAP!! TASTY! Quick, super friendly (u meet Juan!) loads of seating
Cons: none!
Juan in a million truly lives up to it's name. It is a gem of a place right in the "barrio" of Austin off Cesar Chavez street. Each time we visit this city, it is our duty to have breakfast here no matter the time of day. Weekends are elbows to ankles with colleges kids and the like but don't worry, you'll find a seat. Juan will shake your hand like he knows you and make sure of that! We prefer to sit outside and take our time with the spicy salsa & chips. Coffee is excellent and although we try to order something new, we generally can't resist ordering the same thing - Con Queso Breakfast. If you want a true Austin experience in the morning, this is it.
Pros: Service, Food
Cons: Parking
I got the feeling that I have come to the right place when I walked into this restaurant. I was so crowded that there were not much place to stand if you are waiting for table! Just when you thought the restaurant is too small to hold the crowd, they have a separate wing with more rooms to sit the guests! Lots of choices to choose from in the menu but as a newbie I tried the DON JUAN. It was GREAT! Great and fast service! Juan shook our hands real hard as we walked out, we will sure come back again!
Pros: Great and fast food, good salsa!
Cons: no homemade chips, could be long wait if run out of tables.
You may approach this place thinking its a slightly shabby Mexican restaurant, but then you see Don Juan's Porsche in the parking long and you start wonder. Honestly, this is the best food to have after a night on 6th (as long as it wasn't too crazy). I bet this place would make a killing if they were open late hours of the night. I have been here over 10 times. and I probably ordered the Don Juan 9 times out of 10. The Don Juan is CHEAP, GOOD, and FILLING! The place can get really crowded for lunch, so try to get there early if you want to get seated faster. And to top it off, you can generally see the proud owner Juan there to greet you with his famous hefty handshake (it almost knocked me off balance once!).
Pros: Great food for an awesome value in a really chill place!
Cons: Juan isnt ALWAYS around to shake your hand
The name says it all it really is the "Don" of breakfast tacos!
I've been coming to this place since I was a kid! My father brought me and the owner Juan himself still comes out says hellos and is as friendly as ever! About size . One "Don Juan" can make about 3-4 reg. sized tacos!!! Def. worth it.
Pros: FOOD!
Cons: crowded on the weekends
No need to rob your pockets - Juan in a Million is the spot for good eats at good prices! Have you not tried this little East Austin Gem yet? Get hungry 'cause Juan isn't jokin' 'round! The Don Juan is so large you'll need both hands to hold it and your lap to catch the drippin's so hold on tight for a wild ride! This burrito is breakfast, lunch, AND dinner!! YUM YUM!!!
Pros: The Don Juan! Great Value
great place. if you want real mexican food, this is the place to be. the don juan is a must, but with extra tortillas. the queso's amazing, and juan's handshake seals the deal.
Pros: Don Juan, Juan's Handshake, Queso
Cons: Parking
This was my favorite Saturday/Sunday morning place when I was in college. Perfect to cure that frat punch and keystone lite hangover. MUST get the Don Juan, but make sure you ask for an extra tortilla. Dr Pepper is perfect to wash this down with. Huevos con queso is also braggable (queso is made with REAL government cheese) Delish. Salsa is VERY hot- so take it easy. And hey, make sure you grab a praline or a mexican wedding cookie on the way out.
Pros: Don Juan, Juan Handshake, Queso
Cons: Parking, Pinatas
