I am the Assistant Director of Starbright Preschool. This post is in direct response to two reviews that make very specific and completely unfounded negative claims about our school. Starbright Preschool is a small school nestled in friendly and fairly upscale neighborhood in south Austin. Starbright has operated in Austin, Texas for over 20 years and for that 20 years it has always been in total compliance with the strict health and safety regulations and standards set forth by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Anyone who questions this or has any concerns can access Starbright's inspection records at www.dfps.state.tx.us. Starbright is also an NAEYC accredited preschool which maintains extremely high health, safety, and educational standards to which Starbright also adheres. This can also be confirmed at www.naeyc

A wonderful and loving place for kids to be just kids. Very good atmosphere and the kids there are happy. Lots of outdoor time in a rich outdoor environment. My daughter went there since she was 2 years old, and has blossomed wonderfully. However this is not a place for parents who want to make sure their kids get into academics early. Very very caring teachers Plan early, long waiting list.

Are you looking for childcare but find yourself cringing when you see a place catering to 3 year olds with the name "learning center" in the title? Starbright fills a much needed void in the childcare scene by providing a safe haven from the overstimulating world of technology and forced early reading and academics. I have an older child who went here when he was 4/5, I was so thankful this place existed because it is obvious now that allowing him to just play and be a child dancing with the butterflies, singing songs...has allowed him to really embrace school and the challenges of academic life because he is really READY for it. Why is everyone in such a rush for children to grow up?!

Pros: Seasonal festivals, focus on arts/crafts/singing.

Cons: No program for under twos.
