A TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!! I had to wait over 2hrs for a couple of min of my drs time. DONT WASTE UR TIME AND MONEY. The docs and staff dont care here. I had to wait in the heat since they did not want to turn up AC. I guess they did not want to spend more money on a bill. Go to another place for a dr!!! You will be glad you did

Ratings_icons Excellence is Not in Carousel's Vocabulary

Someone W.

Carousel has its priorities in the wrong places and not on the patients. The doctors see the patient's sometimes 3 minutes and sometimes for 6 minutes. I have tried all three offices and it is the same. They are the perfect example of the "love of money is the root of all evil". Their practices are geered to the almighty dollar. If they would only work in the spirit of excellence and realized they would be blessed. In the Bible it says those who take advantage of the poor and needy lead to a life of destruction. Good Luck Carousel because we all reap what we sow. I no longer take my children to this place because I want excellent care.

Ratings_icons Carousel staff should learn a thing or two from 2 outstanding employees.

Reva J.

Ive been a patient of Dr. Woods for 5 years and the last 2 years I have NOT seen the man! Did he die or what? My PCP is Dr. Wood but I have not seen him in a long time. I always have to wait way to long but the worst part is the front desk is always so rude! I came in for my sons Referral and let me tell you i could not believe how long it took! I called for like a week straight finally someone answered and her name was Krystal.... a nurse my behind! First of all she was rude and seemed as if it had been a long day and honey it was only 9:30 in the morning so you tell me whats wrong with that picture? Anyways, I first asked her about a referral that I was needing and she gave me this long story about how i needed to come in! Come in? For what my kid needed surgery! How was I suppose to come in? Duh! So after all the attitude I ended up coming in and I talked to about 4 different ladies and no-one seemed to know what they was doing! Not even "the nurse Krystal" so finally! I get someone who just by looking at her she seemed like she actually cared! I'll never forget her name it was Jessica Lopez she was a supervisor who automatically greeted me and instead of leaving me standing to talk over a counter she called me to the back for a more one on one conversation. Miss Jessica right away noticed that my son was in pain and put us in a room.I only had to tell her once my situation and she went out and grabbed a doctor her name was Miss Yvette Galvan (such a nice lady). Miss Jessica and Miss Galvan helped my son get into the surgeon right away and Miss Galvan ordered alot of test on my son who no one had ever done that in my years going to Carousel. They both went out of their way to show me they cared. Even on Miss Jessica's day off I called her on her cell and from home she was able to call Miss Galvan and helped me how nice. I'm really great full for these two ladies. So to make a long story short.... It seems to me NOT everyone loves what they do and I hope these 2 young ladies set an example for the rest of the employees who don't seem to like what they do. I rate these two ladies a 5 plus but the rest the need major improvement! I would give them no stars but I have to at-least give 1.

Ratings_icons Excellent, caring doctors and staff

Bob J.

I have been taking my kids to Carousel for over 5 years. They always have been so helpful with my children and shown that they care by the way the treat all of us.

Sure the wait time has been longer than I would have liked at times, but I've waited just as long at most other pediatrician's offices.

I love the fact that they are open just about every day and until midnight. I've used that service several times and it has been a live saver!
They also do something I haven't seen any other offices do. Which is they have educational videos that we watch every time I come in for a checkup.

2 of my 3 kids have gotten braces and my kids are just about to have them removed. Their teeth look GREAT!

I highly recommend Carousel!

People the best place to go is ARC i love it there yea it cost little more but the personal there is great i been to several locations and there all great. specially dr Burnett and dr Cannon over at south first.

Ratings_icons Disappointed

Kisha G.

I was very disappointed by the new set up that they have in the waiting room it is so congested that people were bumping into my child's wheelchair. We were seen by a very nice RN and Medical Assistant. The doctors do not care. I received a script for something that is not covered by Medicaid and the pharmacy contacted Carousel Pediatric and so did I. At this time I still have not received a new script and neither has the pharmacy. They are not doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. I am very disappointed with them. They have shown no caring, respect or overall concern for their patients.

Ratings_icons Wasted an entire morning

Kate W.

I live in San Marcos and there are no pediatrics that take medicaid here so I have to drive to Austin so my two boys can see a doctor. I recently had my second son, he is only two months old, and we went there to get him circumcised. They only do it at the Ed Bluestein office which is about two hours away from my house. So I made the appointment which was at 7:20 in the morning. I got up at 4:30 and was on the road by 5:30. Once I got into Austin and to 183 I wasn't sure which way to turn(North or South) so I called the office and they told me NORTH. So drive down 183 for a bit and I don't see the exit, and this goes on for about 10 min. I remember them telling me it's not far, so I thought that I had just missed it. I kept calling the office and there was no answer for a couple calls. It was about 7:00 and I started getting worried that I was going to be late and they weren't going to be able to do it, so I stopped at a gas station to ask directions. They told me that it was SOUTH 183 and it's like the second exit. So now I was getting pissed because I had wasted all that time going the wrong way because SOMEONE AT THEIR OFFICE TOLD ME WRONG DIRECTIONS. Needless to say, once I made it to their office they told they couldn't do it because I WAS LATE. They were very rude and I told them that if they are going to have people answer phones make sure they know where the office is. It wasn't my fault the I was late. I had to take off of work and get up at 4:30 in the morning to do this and now it can't be done because of that office's stupidity. I have to take my kids there because there is no where else but if you have a choice DON'T TAKE YOUR KIDS THERE!!!

Carousel is an outstanding dental & orthodontic facility. My daughter Kamilah has special needs & is often difficult & uncooperative. Nevertheless, the staff here at Carousel has been consistently patient, supportive & kind. Even though we are medicaid recipients they treat us with the same respect we would get if we were high end clients. Their outstanding service has not gone un-noticed and will not be forgotten!

My teenage son is a fairly shy person, but the people at Carousel make him feel comfortable. When we are there he even loosens up enough to joke around and have fun visiting with the staff. This is clearly one of the friendliest places we deal with.

Ratings_icons Beware!!!! If you love your children you do not want Carousel Pediatrics!

CHRISTINA B.

I have been in the healthcare field for the past five years and Carousel Pediatrics has been the worst office I have EVER seen! First I would like to add that I did not take my own children, I took a few of my friends children for her and I was amazed at the poor service. I took my friends children in for a well exam and I to my disbelief an exam was not done. When we were called back after waiting 2 hours in an over crowed waiting room I was ready to commit suicide. I do appreciate the fact that there where no toys in the waiting room preventing the spread of illness but I do not appreciated the unorganized walk in policy which contributed to the long wait. If your office has decided to do walk in sick appointments then you should have physicians schedule to see the walk-ins only, and the other physicians scheduled to see the scheduled appointments. Also, you should consider scheduling appointment for well exams every 30 minutes and provide the full 30 minutes to the child and parents. Continuing with my story, once we were called back the nurse was very sweet and polite while being very patient. Once we where in the room we waited another 30 to 40 minutes before we saw the physician and as all parents know children tend to get a little stir crazy. Luckily I brought back up gameboys. Once the doctor entered the room she asked the usual well exam questions, listened to their lungs, orders vaccines then left. That was it! What about the exam. If Im not mistaken you must check joints, feel abdomens, and all the other procedures that are taught in medical school. Dont get me wrong! Since I have experience in the medical field I completely understand the evil insurance called Medicaid. I understand that they do not pay crap and most of the time you lose money. This, in turn, causes a practice to see as many patients as possible to make a profit so that salaries can be paid along with the bills. Does this in turn mean children should lake adequate medical care? After this visit I did not want to return to the clinic but my friends child was not to happy during a blood draw so I decided to rescheduled the appointment so that it would be him, his mother, the nurse, then McDonalds. What happened next was even more disturbing then the lack of organization. When his mother took him back to the clinic the nurses asked here what blood work was needed? She then called me and asked me what they had ordered a month ago. I was so angry. I thought medical offices kept little things called charts that keep medical information on file such as blood work needed. I told her to tell them to look in the thing that looked like a paper folder and read the doctors orders. Before we hung up I told her not to let them draw her childs blood and to get the medical records and run. BEWARE. BEWARE. BEWARE. THE ONLY REASON I GAVE ONE STARE IS BECAUSE YOU HAD TO.

Ratings_icons Although Affordable, Terrible Service! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD!!!!

JEANET F.

Although they are affordable, they have the worst customer service. I'm not a dental assistant, but I am a medical assistant. I also work in the medical field, and I couldn't imagine treating my patients the way we are treated here, at Carousel. I also ditto all the bad comments made about this office. I do know that there dental, and medical assistants don't get paid much either, they make about $8-$10 an hour, maybe, if that. I also know that they use a lot of interns just graduating from school. So they work for free until they meet their hourly goals to graduate. That could be a contribution to all of the rudeness going on in this office.

Ratings_icons Can't get my child's medical records!!

Crystal H.

I have been contacting numerous people at Carousel (at both Round Rock and Ed Bluestien locations) and cannot get my daughter's medical records. She was a patient at Rainbow Pediatrics (a sister office), which recently closed without any notification to their patients. I happened to call to schedule an appointment and was told they were closing in 1 week. The lady at Rainbow told me my daughter's records would be sent to the Round Rock location. Well that was 2 months ago and they still don't have them! I've called everywhere I can think of and all I get is the run around (after spending up to 10 mins on HOLD)! Very frustrating. It seems this practice has some major organization issues. I wouldn't give them 1 star, but unfortunately that's the minimum choice.

Ratings_icons I left Rainbow Pediatrics

Christina C.

I have taken my oldest son here since he was a newborn. He is now eight and I recently had two more children. Since in the past I received great service I took my other two children there as well. Recently though I have had the worst experience with their sister office Carousel Pediatrics. I am completely dissatisfied with their services. My eight year old is asthmatic and in the past the Drs were really attentative and sympathetic when he had a severe attack. A few weeks ago my son had another severe attack. He ran out of medicine and the Dr would not call it in until he was seen. So we took him to only to wait an hour to be seen (with severe asthma attacks) and then to be given the incorrect prescription. So I called them back and requested the correct dosage on his advair. The dr wanted to see us again which I refused. AFter expressing my concern and refusing to go back in they said they would fax over the correct prescription to our pharmacy. Hours later there was no prescription received. I called them again and made sure over the phone that they were faxing it to another pharmacy that would still be open since it was 8pm already. No one seemed organized or aware of what was going on. Not to mention I was never advised that Rainbow Pediatrics was closing even after I had just recently scheduled wellness checks for my other children and now have to reschedule with Carousel. I am now requesting my children's medical records and taking them elsewhere. I don't where Dr. Wood is at but he has lost a previously faithful client.

Ratings_icons I am one of Dr. Glen Woods first customers when he was on 35th St.

june s.

When Dr. Glen woods had his office on 35th Street in a small wooden house I use to take my first child there. She is now 21 years. Back then, a visit entailed a long educational discussion of the diagnosis, a choice to look at a video for additional information, lots of brochures, and sometimes a follow up phone call. When he moved to Stoneridge, I followed him there, and boy- how things have changed in the last several years. I remained with him for the last 21 years and even encouraged my daughter to use him for her son, but we are now looking elsewhere. No longer are we treated as a patient, but a number. I have to wait for hours before I am seen. Once I waited for three hours, after they took my co-pay, and I finally walked out very upset, without being seen. They finally returned my check in the mail (with not even an apology letter). Dr. Woods have grown his business, and it has become all about making money, and no longer about customer service. I ditto all the negative comments that have been written. I don't think they will ever get it together unless they do some serious backtracking. I wrote this while I have been on hold for the last 3o minutes, with no hold music playing, only to be told that I cannot make an appointment I have to be a walk in. I could have made it to the office within the length of time I was on hold, had I known that. Today is my last visit after 21 years and the last five years tolerating such poor service and rude receptionist. If this comment from a customer with my longevity doesn't cause things to improve - nothing will!

Well last week I had to take my child in late during the after hours and he was really sick with a high fever. As soon as i got their i asked the young man Jorge if they could check his temputer and the medical assistant Jessica came out to me in the lobby and was ready to assist my son. She got us back right away and we weren't even finish signing in at the front and she said to me don't worry about it lets get him roomed and comfortable and ill get you all signed in. He had a 104 fever and she gave him some Motrin right away! She got the provider Mr. Cannon right away and he checked my son and they did a test on him that came out positive for strep throat. They even gave him his first dos so that i wouldn't have to drive to a pharmacy so late at night. I've been a patient at carousel for about 3 years now and I have to say that the last 20 times i per fer to come at night because the staff is so nice and we all know each other on a first name base and i would highly recommend them to everyone. They care and I'm always in and out during the after hours.

OK how do I start.Well Ive been taking my 3 girls to this place for their check ups and sickdays and at the beginning it took me 2 minutes to make an app. the worse part is I use to wait in the waiting room no more than 15 minutes to be seen and now I wait more than 1 hour and the pediatrician took time to check well my girls but now I guess that to many persons on medicaid made this place crazy because after I wait more than 1 hour the pediatrician only takes 10 minutes or less to check my girls.I might not know nothing about medicine but I know it takes more than just looking in the ears and mouth to say everything look ok Im still loking for a good pedriatician Im trying to find one that takes time doing what they need to do and not worrying how to do everything to fast to get to the next person sometimes doing things in a hurry can come out wrong.

Ratings_icons Unprofessional!

Kristin B.

I am writing this as I have been on hold with the office for almost an hour!

I second everything the other reviewer said. Carousel's facilities are unclean and not very child-friendly. There are minimal toys available in the waiting areas, and none whatsoever in the exam rooms. Try keeping a 19-month-old occupied while you wait 45 min. to an hour and a half AFTER you finally make it out of the waiting room! They take you back to an exam room and you wait, and wait, and wait. We have never waited less than 45 minutes. When you schedule an appt., you had better expect 2-3 hours of being at the office, even for a well-check.

Exam rooms have no child safety latches on any of the cabinets, and the doors can be easily opened, even by a baby. The trash cans in the rooms have no lids. The only items in the room are a few freebie magazines (and sometimes only in Spanish) and occasionally a dirty old children's book or two.

Good luck seeing an actual doctor, or if you do, the same doctor you've seen before. The PA, Rhiannon, is wonderful, but why is a doctor not always available? The nurses and receptionists are almost all rude. I have stood at the reception desk many times and have been ignored. The receptionists will see me there and just turn around and keep working. I have actually left the office because nobody would help me set the next appointment.

We have had doctors misdiagnose our son twice, once when our son had strep- and then the P.A. at the night clinic caught it! The doctor hadn't even done a throat culture the day before. Then at the next visit, the doctor said, "Well, we may never really know if he had strep or not," and implied that somehow the P.A. could have been an unreliable source of info.!!!

Recently, we went out of town and forgot our son's medication in the fridge. We called the office to see if someone could call the prescription ahead to our destination so that our child would not miss the next 3 days' doses. After BEING PUT ON HOLD AS USUSAL, they put us ON THE PHONE WITH A MEDICAL ASSISTANT, NOT EVEN A REAL NURSE. She said she'd pull our chart and call the prescription ahead. We arrived out-of-town, and the prescription was never called in. Then we called and called and could never get through. We had to see another doctor (not even ours, but we were actually treated with some concern!)and get a new prescription.

Carousel cannot be counted on. I guess it's all about making money- from what we've seen, they see a huge # of Medicaid patients. We actually pay for our insurance, so we expect much more. We've had enough and are moving on. It makes me sad to think that we put up with it for so long.

PROS: Rhiannon, the P.A is one of the few polite and concerned staff,
CONS: Unprofessional, uncaring, unclean, unreliable, I could go on and on.

Ratings_icons Absolutely Terrible!! Do Not take your child

Gina G.

This office is the absolute worse I've been too. You wait minutes on hold just to be transfered again and wait. Once appt. is made average wait time is 45-60 minutes (whether child is sick or just a check-up) in the waiting room and at least 40 minutes in the actual office. Plus when I went they had the syringe box *open* (granted it is up very high so a child couldn't possibly reach it) and I could see used syringes! They just apologized and shut it. The bathroom in this place was disgusting when I went. You could smell the urine and see the stains on the toilet bowl and seat. Blackend tile floors. Receptionists act as if you are nothing. Granted this is a mainly Medicaid office but still...

My child went up to 12 months and has only seen the Doctor twice (most of the "well baby check-ups" you schedule are handled by the physician's assistant). There is one one PA and ishe is great, but I want my child to see an actual Dr. more than twice a year! The medical assistants who check vitals act as if they are above you if you try to explain why you think they are wrong about your child's sickness (sorry, they took a 9 month course and know more than what the nurseline told me?). And the final straw was when I got private insurance and tried to take my sick daughter. They abandoned me by saying "we must have a copy of insurance the day before we can schedule an appt" (and she was SICK and needed a visit that day). WOULD NOT CALL TO VERIFY INSURANCE WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY, BUT WOULD HAPPILY SEE HER THAT DAY IF I WOULD SELF-PAY.

Please think twice if you have your own insurance or if you are self-pay. Or if you have Medicaid, try and find another place. The Carousel in Round Rock (sister office - Sunrise Pediatrics I believe) is a lot newer, cleaner and quieter, but the doctor is only there at certain times and you must ask to see them (and there is only 1 doctor for the entire office).

PROS: Sorry, can't think of any
CONS: Dirty, Long Wait time, Syringes out in open, bad attitude
