This place is amazing. It has one of the largest Chinese/Vietnamese menus I've ever seen. I have never had Chinese food in London, but I have had Chinese in San Francisco and New York and this place is more to my taste. We love the stir fried beef with string bean and the combination fried rice. The only better combo FR I've had was at Tse Yang in midtown Manhattan. The first time I visited I was with a contributing food writer for the Dallas Morning News for Chinese New Year. We were the only Caucasians in the place, but nobody cared. After the Dragon Dance they started bringing out plate after plate of food which was placed on a large lazy susan in the middle of a large round table. I tried everything and found nothing that was not a taste surprise. And yes the service is incredibly friendly. You will need your server's assistance to maneuver the menu, but trust her...she knows what she's doing even if you don't. This is in one of a couple of "Little China" or "Little Vietnam" strip centers in Richardson, but probably the best one. Enjoy and forget you are in a suburb of Dallas.

Basing on the reviews available at maps.google.com, I expected a bit more from this place.

I haven't spent much time in Richardson yet, however, I think I visited a fair amount of Chinese restaurants in the UK. So, I have to compare this place with UK's once (in particular, with the "New World" restaurant on 1 Gerrard Pl, London, UK).

The very good thing is that Caravelle is much cheaper than "New World". You may pay twice less than in London and get about the same amount of food or even more.

As for the food, it has a plenty of room for improvement (in my opinion).
I ordered "Peking Duck" (usually named as "Crispy Duck" in the UK) and "Szechuan Beef".
The first one was very disappointing. They gave me pieces of white baguette instead of thin pancakes, and chopped Chinese cabbage instead of cucumbers and spring onions. The duck itself was pretty good though. The Hoi-Sin sauce was a little bit washy but still good enough. However, the dish was completely spoiled by baguette and Chinese cabbage.

"Szechuan Beef" was much better. It was well cooked, etc. But, the same dish in "New World" is better: it's much more spicy and it has more distinct flavour and taste in London.

I've never been to China and I can not say which place is better from the Chinese people's point of view. However, I do not recommend this place if you got used to Chinese food cooked in London's Chinatown.

This place has the best Chinese food in Dallas. I mean authentic Chinese food. This is the top place to have your food at for a wedding so make sure you know that on weekends you may be shut out as there may be no tables for you. Try coming on a weekday instead. I think there are lots of dishes that are wonderful here but the best must be the lobster. You can have it with cheese or with garlic and onions and it will be one of the best you will ever have. Good place.

We've been going to this restaurant for years. The food is so good. They have so many special dishes, make sure and ask them for suggestions. Only negative is that for Chinese food, it's a little pricey. Even with that, the food is well worth the price.

This place has great authentic Chinese food. The service is very fast and friendly. Be sure to try their crab dish cook with salt and pepper. Very good and tasty! They have a lot of fresh seafood to choose from and their prices are very reasonable. The place tends to be crowded on Saturday night. They also serve lunches on the weekday. Highly recommend this place.

My favorite dishes are the beef with snow pea leaves, lemongrass tofu and string beans, and the fried rice. The workers are very friendly and attentive. Call ahead on Saturdays in case there is a wedding.
