This is a serious, user-friendly CLEAN gym with a great vibe. (kind to animals too...some of the trainers' dogs hang out occasionally.) Worth every penny... C.Card

The tip off to me about how much the staff at Timberline really cares is the fact that they always greet me by name - everyone! The management is top notch and the work-outs are serious. Not a socializing gym, which helps keep me on track. Parking is very convenient and the place is kept very clean. They are always doing improvements and additions, which makes me feel like my money is put to use for ME! Thanks, Timberline.

Timberline is a top-notch gym. The trainers are all very personable. They are great at motivating and figuring out what goals you are trying to accomplish. The environment is non-threatening. The locker room and everything else is kept very clean. The machines are the best quality. I like the treadmills that feel like running on a track, and I also really enjoy the stationery bikes with computer screens that allow you to either ride through different sceneries or feel as if you are in a video game. Fun stuff! The spinning room is really nice too. Timberline is quality all around. Honestly, it's easily the best gym I have ever been to.

★★★★★

I've always found Timberline to be a welcoming gym when I travel to Houston on business. Dean and his staff leave no stone unturned when it comes to providing a well-rounded no nonsense workout experience. They quickly are able to adapt my workout to my goals and ability level while creating a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Well-equipped facility, great community, and unparalleled staff make Timberline the choice for fitness in Houston

★★★★★

I enjoy working out with Dean and Paul - they really push me farther than I think I can go. I have been working out with them for over two years and reall look forward to it each week.

★★★★★

I thought I knew how to train ... however, it was not until I was trained at Timberline Fitness, I saw results in areas that I thought were hopeless.

Thanks Dean, you are amazing. You have truly made a difference ... :)

★★★★★

Timberline is a great gym. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, friendly and motivating. A year ago, I had a goal to trek in the Everest Region of Nepal and climb a mountain. With the help of the Timberline staff I was able to do that. I want to thank Oscar who was my personnel trainer and Wooch for his awesome spinning classes. Without your help, I might not have had such a great time.

★★★★★

Timberline is a great gym. Pat is a super trainer. I recommend both.

★★★★★

I might have to drive 20 minutes to get to the gym, but I go more often than if the gym was down on my first floor. Why? It's all about the people! From everyone who trains and runs the gym to the folks I see on a regular basis sweatin' out next to me - it really is like a family! And... my whole family (hubby and 10 year old son) now trains at Timberline!

★★★★☆

Always get the workout I am expecting....very customized and challenging designed to meet my goals in the gym.

★★★★★

After participating in many 'bootcamps' around the Houston area, I can easily say that Oscar's 2-week bootcamp at Timberline has, by far, been the best experience I??ve had. The sheer variety of activities in this bootcamp has made it?dare I say?FUN! From TRX to Kettlebells to military-style drills, every day is something new. Oscar??s style is both motivating and laid-back. He knows how to push us further each time, and seems genuinely pleased when we rise to the occasion and show improvement.
I??ve also been pleased with the warm and friendly atmosphere at Timberline. Another User Review compared it to Cheers - where everyone knows your name, and it's true. Everyone who walks through the door is greeted with a smile. It??s the kind of atmosphere that makes people want to get out of bed or get off the couch and show up each day!

An inviting environmentfor fitness

I have been taking pilates at Timberline Fitness for about 6 months now and I am very happy with my insutructor. All are very knowledgable and make sure to keep all the customers safe from harming themselves. The facilities are always clean and the staff is very friendly. If you are looking for a big gym this is not the place. The gym is two stories and small enough for everyone to get to know each other. It definalty is a great atmosphere.

Pros: Great Instructors, Clean, Friendly, Fun

★★★★★

Small size and great personal trainers. Also fun atmosphere with plenty of great banter.

★★★★★

This is like Cheers, but without so much beer gut... everyone really does know your name. The training sessions are constantly varied, the equipment is up to date and clean. 24/7 access

Pros: great trainers, great access, friendly

Cons: pricey, but worth it

★★★★★

Some of the best educated, versatile and friendly trainers you will ever meet. Workouts are never routine - they actively plan and implement variations that keep you interested and challenged. All you have to do is show up! The inviting "neighborhood" atmosphere will keep you looking forward to that exercise commitment.

Pros: Top Notch Trainers

Cons: none

★★★★★

clearly, by the amount of personal testimony this is a beloved gym. after years of bouncing around houston's gyms (bally's, fit, ymca) i found my gym that is my home away from home to work out at timberline.

there are so many great things about timberline, i will try to capture many of them here:

1. the people- the staff can work with any fitness level and is supportive and helpful to all. plus they're FUN and they make working out fun.
2. the clients- some of the nicest people. that said, do not feel that this is social club. if you want to come and workout and go on with your day-that's cool just expect lots of people to smile at you, including your fellow workout company.
3. dogs-they have really nice kennels in the parking lot if you hate to leave your dog cooped up inside while you run off to the gym you can bring fido! plus, some of the trainers bring their dogs to the gym from time to time and it always makes my day to see a 4 legged friend at the gym.
4. variety- there is SO much to do here. you have the choice to work out on your own, with a personal trainer, with a personal trainer in a small group or in class. then, the equipment is crazy varied-want to box? cool. like those kettle bells-they got 'em. ride a stationary bike-you'll bowled over by the crazy bikes they have (go see 'em!), aerobic equipment, weights, and more. then the trainers are great and keep workouts varied so you're guaranteed to not get bored. finally the classes- check the website and you'll see what i'm talking about. but for those of you that get bored easily -well, you won't have that excuse at timberline.

Pros: friendly people (staff & clients), variety and awesome dogs

★★★★★

I have been a member of Timberline for over two years. After just my second time there, they were greeting me by my name. Timberline feels like a family - complete with holiday parties and friendly competitions. The personal trainers are great - I highly recommend April, with whom I have been regularly training since I joined. At Timberline, there are none of the hassles that are inevitable at larger gyms: lockers, membership cards, lines at machines, parking problems, annoying service fees, rude people, etc. The people are friendly - including the members - and the atmosphere is fun and relaxed. I actually look forward to going to the gym!

Pros: Personal Training, No Membership Cards, Relaxed Atmosphere

Cons: Limited Weekend Hours

★★★★★

Timberline's got to be the best gym I've ever been at. No matter what your physical goal is, they'll help you achieve it. Their personal trainers are incredibly nice and really know what's best for you. They also have the newest machines for everything, and they take good care of them; the facilities are very clean all the time. They also have very interesting classes such as Boxing or specific abs work out. Last but not least: the location. The gym is located in the Museum District (Montrose), next to Saint Thomas University. It is probably the most quiet and greenest area in Houston, so I can't think of a better place to run a gym. Have fun and get fit at Timberline!

Pros: Everyone's really friendly and helps you out

Cons: None

★★★★★

Most of the work going on here is with the guidence of personal trainers, all of whom have professional certification and are true professionals. This gym is the complete opisite of the sign them up after Christmas and everone is gone by February. I have been going to this gym for the last 5 years, and will be here as long as I live in Houston.
Basicly this is a great place with outstanding staff and ownership.

Pros: Friendly, no drama, supportive.

★★★★★

Timberline is absolutely, hands down the best place I have ever worked out at. I had put exercise too far down on my to do list while in college. Once I graduated, I tried to get back into exercising but just couldn't keep it going. I attended one of Jeff's Boot Camps and rediscovered what I loved about working out. I thought that I wouldn't want to work out in a gym but in my Boot Camp group I have fun, laugh, and am motivated by the other cadets (boot campers). I have kept with it for over a year and find myself exercising on my own in addition to attending boot camp twice a week. What I do in Boot Camp; I would never do on my own which is why I know I need it :)

An incredibly talented and supportive group of trainers, varieties of exercise, and a great ambiance; no wonder I always look forward to going there.

Thank you Timberline and thank you JEFF!!!

★★★★★

Like many others, I had been unable to maintain a workout schedule on my own. Jeff is a great trainer (I never before considered having a personal trainer...) who keeps me motivated, is always curious about any recent activities that affects my workouts, and is very concerned about me achieving the objectives we set out, like strecthing and flexability. My results have been remarkable, and only getting better and better. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, all the trainers know you. In short it is a very condusive atmospher for success!

Pros: location, location, location! Ample parking too!

★★★★★

So, let me tell you about myself...I NEVER was able to stick to a workout no matter what gym I went to. I have been working with a personal trainer at Timberline for more than a year now. Timberline is my extended family and I look forward to seeing everyone there each time I go there! My Timberline family has brought a revolution to the way I look at workout and healthy eating. Everyone knows each other by first name, and we are all laughing and enjoying every minute we are there. I would recommend anyone to come and check out the best excercising atmosphere in Houston!!!

★★★★★

If you're serious about your workout this is the place to go. I joined last November and immediately started working out with one of Timberline's trainer's -- Karen Peden ("KP"). KP is awesome -- every workout is different. She changes it up every time, so you're challenged at every workout. She combines cardio with the weights, so you're really getting your heart rate up. It has really motivated me to work out again. The gym also offers classes (free to members) that are also great workouts. They're all small -- sometimes its just a couple of people -- and you get a great pilates workout. All in all, this is a great place to work out --

Pros: Personal trainers, size of gym, friendly members and staff

Cons: nothing

Monday or Friday-it doesnt matter which day
Do I want to workout?-of course NOT-NO WAY
She pushes, she prods-way beyond my idea of play
She wants me to Want to be fit-not me.NO WAY
She's DEMANDING,ENCOURAGING,EMPOWERING in so many ways
Monday or Friday wouln't be perfect.without my trainer. PJ.

★★★★★

Easily the single best workout experience in Houston. All of the staff are very friendly and it feels a bit like Cheers, everyone knows your name. The facilities are excellent but the main reason to go is the personal trainers. These people know their stuff. Be forewarned, if Wooch says, "it will change the dynamic a bit" you are about to be in for a serious workout. Definitely 2 thumbs up!

Pros: Trainers know their stuff and push you to do more

Cons: None

★★★★★

Timberline is home to the best trainer in Houston, Wooch!! Wooch is very knowledgeable and innovative in his workouts; you'll never feel more motivated then when you are working out with Wooch. I have worked out at Timberline for over two years and will never go anywhere else. It?s a friendly and relaxed environment to work out in. Everyone should try Timberline, it?s the best!!!!

★★★★★

I can't say enough postive things about Timberline -- the location, the people, the atmosphere, the facility, are ALL top-notch. Best of all, is the feeling you get after working out there. Not only do you get an amazing workout and personal attention, you feel like you are part of a family. You may go there to see one trainer, but they ALL will know your name. After being away for a while, I still miss it and I miss the people and I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend this gym and their trainers for anyone looking for THE best workout ever -- physically and mentally.

Pros: The people and facility

Cons: Not being able to go every day

★★★★★

I have been to many many gyms and Timberline has the perfect combination of truly committed professional traininers, equipment, and attitude. This place rocks with clients from young to senior. This is a good supportive place to work out and I definately recomend Timberline.

Pros: great trainers, facility, and equipment

Cons: none

★★★★★

Small class with the best in personalized coaching -- from the beginner to the advanced athelete. Mima is a gifted teacher and an inspiration. I saw results in two weeks (and I was an overweight couch potato who had not exercised in too many years to count). I could walk and stand in high heels for the first time in over 10 years. I could sit and stand up straight. When I went to mass today, I could kneel with no discomfort. I feel like a new woman. Mima made me feel welcome and capable. And it turns out she was right -- I just moved to Level 2!

★★★★★

Great people, best Pilates, convenient schedules.
Relax environment, state-of-the-art equipment.
Decently priced.

Pros: plenty of parking around

Cons: none

★★★★★

Have you ever been to a chain gym and were afraid to have a conversation with one of their professionals about your workout because they will instantly give you a sales pitch? Well, you will never feel that way at Timberline. Their staff is truly passionate about helping people achieve their peak athletic performance. You can actually get to know their friendly staff before you consider a private trainer. Each staff member has distinct athletic expertise and major interests, so you will definitely find a personal trainer whom you can bond and build a wonderful, motivational relationship with. What is best is that they are not afraid to step out of the box and take your workout to a new level. All day you will be looking forward to getting to gym. If personal training is not for you, check out their group classes. Pilates classes were the one for me. Absolutely amazing results, and so much fun! It is one of the best workout experiences to be in small, yet challenging class with such friendly people. It certainly makes a great end to my long days in school and the office! Thanks for everything Timberline. You really helped me recover my health, and made me look great as a bonus!

Pros: Staff, ambiance, cleanliness - CLEAN BATHROOMS AND EQUIPMENT

Cons: Only sell drinks, no energy/protein bars. Equipment not latest and greatest but clean and functional.

★★★★★

Timberline really acknowledges different fitness levels and accomodates all kinds of people. I have been working with a trainer (pat J) who is amazing--she is thoughtful, smart and empathetic. I have never worked out so hard and felt such a sense of satisfaction at the same time. If you want to become a fit grandparent work with Pat Johnson at Timberline. I look forward to every session.

Pros: great neighborhood gym

★★★★★

I started at Timberline when it first opened. I liked it so much, I even worked there for a while, until I relocated out of the country. On my return to Houston, and by chance running passed the gym to see if it had changed, I was impressed that it was the same and 10 TIMES BETTER!!! Dean and all the trainers motivate, encourage, have smiles on their faces, while at the same time pushing you to your limits, as hard as you choose and are aiming to achieve. If you have a goal, they will do everything they can to get you there!! Also, they are increadibly flexible with their training sessions, memberships and the various classes allows for trying something you always wanted to do, like boxing. I recommend Timberline to all!! I have never found a gym as nice, clean, pleasant and looking forward to my next session!!!

Lauren is an extremely knowledgeable, warm & inviting individual as you will find. Highly recommend her.

This is a serious, user-friendly CLEAN gym with a great vibe. (kind to animals too...some of the trainers' dogs hang out occasionally.) Worth every penny... Also, just the right amount of interaction with clients and trainers. One of the best resources Houston offers...

Pros: good parking, clean, personal

Cons: none

Timberline is an awesome gym - no spandex in there, just great people who want to work out with the best trainers in a clean, non-crowded gym. Personal training, boxing, pilates, yoga and stretching are all offered and management is always polling the members to see if there's anything else we want. I've been coming there for 8 years and wouldn't think of switching! They train people at all fitness levels and make you feel comfortable the minute you walk through the doors. If you want results and enjoy the process, this is the gym for you!

Pros: Best trainers; friendliest service

Cons: none!

★★★★★

This is a terrific place. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and motivating--they raise the bar enough to insure a great workout without pushing me beyond my limits. Staff and clients alike great others warmly and by name. They have great classes (boxing, Pilates, stretch, cardio, etc.), plenty of equipment (all well maintained), and clean workout space and dressing rooms (amenities in dressing room like lotion, mouthwash, etc.). It's a comfortable and inspiring environment.

★★★★★

The trainers at Timberline are very friendly and committed to giving you a new workout with every session. It keeps the sessions interesting and keeps you working hard, as you never know what's next. Great pilates classes that will get your core in shape in no time. A place where everybody knows your name. No pretension, just serious sweat!

Special kudos to all the super trainers at Timberline. They play great music, keep us laughing, motivated and retuning to work out!

Pros: friendly

★★★★★

The tip off to me about how much the staff at Timberline really cares is the fact that they always greet me by name - everyone! The management is top notch and the work-outs are serious. Not a socializing gym, which helps keep me on track. Parking is very convenient and the place is kept very clean. They are always doing improvements and additions, which makes me feel like my money is put to use for ME! Thanks, Timberline.

Pros: Personal Trainers, Pilates Program, Parking, Cleanliness

Cons: Haven't found any yet

★★★★★

Timberline is a rare "gem" of a fitness center, and is filled with terrific folks, from the trainers to the clients. The atmosphere is so warm and friendly. Everyone is dead serious about their workout, but always takes a minute to say hello and greet each other by name with a friendly smile. The trainers are the the best of the best in Houston, my personal favorite is Marco. He motivates me with his warm smile and strong guiding hand. If I walk in not in the mood, he has me sweating my butt off in 2 minutes, and I'm thrilled that I'm there, and am disappointed when my scheduled time is up. I hate when I'm out of town and have to miss my favorite workout, at my favorite gym, with such great folks.

★★★★★

I am not a workout guru and struggle with maintaining my workout schedule. I have been a member of 2 large chain gyms. I find the experience at Timberline absolutely fabulous. I was shocked when the second time I walked in the gym for my Pilates class Timberlines' trainers addressed me by my name and have done so ever since. Every time I am there I feel welcomed into a familiar environment and am encouraged to stick with my regimen - at the chain gyms it seemed as if the class instructors were usually out of shape (did I mention the Timberline instructors have 10% body fat? That is collectively among them.) and rarely knew your name. I have recommended Timberline to all of my friends who are looking for personal trainers or just a great gym for an overall experience.

Pros: Great staff, clean facilities, experienced trainers

Cons: haven't discovered any so far

★★★★★

Timberline Fitness is a great gym with the excellent trainers (I had tried a number of trainers in Houston before I was introduced to Timberline). I have worked out with Wooch for a few years now and working out has never been boring. He and the other trainers at Timberline make fitness fun. It is fun, but these are also serious, committed workouts. The workouts are exhausting and push me beyond what I think I am capable of. I have seen tremendous results and I recommend Timberline highly.

Pros: Trainers, atmosphere, clean, good equipment

★★★★★

This gym is not only incredibly user-friendly because of the equipment and facilities; it is fabulous because of the trainers and those who work out there. I will be a member as long as I live in Houston.

Pros: Location,user-friendly,staff

★★★★★

Everyone knows your name, and not just the trainers, the other patrons do too. Timberline has an awesome vibe that hits you when you walk in the door. All of the trainers are extremely knowledgeable and energetic and work with all fitness levels. Plus it is never the same workout - they are always changing it up, so you don't get bored. I love the fact that you can work out on your own with a trainer or with a group of folks. My job schedule changes all the time, and they are very accommodating to work me in. Timberline has made such a difference to me that I have given gift certificates to several friends to try it out.

★★★★★

Timberline is a great place to workout. It has all the best equipment for all types of workouts, cardio, weights, pilates, yoga, however its not intimidating. Its a great gym for beginners to experts. What makes it the best though are the trainers. They are not only knowledgabe about the exercise routines, they are also knowledgabe about their clients, and thus, they are able to design workouts that suits each individual's needs and that are interesting and fun. Working out is never dull! Everybody knows your name so its difficult to get away with sluffing off even when you are not working out with a trainer! I would highly recommend timberline to anyone!

Pros: Trainers, equipment and atmosphere

Cons: None

★★★★★

I have worked out for a long time in many different cities, but Timberline is by far the best. The trainers are incredible - extrememely knowledgable and friendly. They know how to push you to your utmost without being overbearing, and they can work with beginners as well as the most experienced of exercisers. The facilities are clean and never crowded, and every trainer greets you personally as you walk through the door.

If you want results and enjoy the process, Timberline is the gym!!

Pros: Best trainers, clean facility, never crowded
