Barton Hills Mobil

I went to get my car inspected and from the moment I walked in the door the man working there was extremely rude. The first thing he did was sigh, and say "Well, its gonna take at least thirty minutes," like I was putting him out in someway. Then, I brought a bill as proof of insurance, which was my mistake. He immediately began raising his voice and acting really annoyed, telling me very harshly this was the wrong thing to bring. I tried to explain that I thought I could bring it because when I called someone had told me that would be okay. He the literally yelled, "I don't care what you thought." There was absolutely no need for that! I was just trying to get clarification and had no raised my voice at all, in fact, up until that point I wasn't even angry. I asked him what gave him the right to talk to me that way (at this point those embarrassing tears of anger had welled up in my eyes, I'm sure...I hate that) and he shoved his hand in my face and said to another employee, "Do you wanna deal with her?" as if I was yelling, or causing a scene the way he was. His boss would not take the time to talk with me about the matter and basically said if I had a problem it was my fault. I don't know if it is because I am a woman in my 20s, or if he was just having a bad day, but it is the worst service I have ever experienced at any mechanic or repair shop. Really disappointed...

I had the same thing happen as the previous reviewer: I was told my husband's VW needed all this expensive work so I took it to Barton Hills Mobil and they scoffed. And they were right, as usual. I completely trust them with both my cars, plus they will do little things for free, like popping in new windshield wipers in 30 seconds. The only thing they have trouble with-and it's not their fault in the least-is working on really specific Volvo repairs but they will tell you right up front if they feel you need to see the dealer. They are honest, fair and they don't charge an arm and a leg. I only wish there was a better place to sit while waiting for my car inspection! Highly recommend them to everyone in South (or North) Austin.

Being new to Austin, it was really important to find an honest mechanic I could trust. My landlord recommended this place and they're great! When the dealer told me I needed to replace both the right and left axel on my Integra, Eddie told me I just needed to replace the right one and could wait to do the left side. I was short on money that month so it really helped a lot.

This Mobil is also the only full-service station south of the river (at least that I could find) - so you get the kind of personal attention you really can't find anywhere anymore. Really nice guys. I highly recommend this place.
