In Short
Big, bustling and sprawling within its stucco facade; Mercado Juarez seems more like an open-air market in Chihuahua than a restaurant. But these chefs dish beloved Tex-Mex with a punch. Traditional plates of chimichangas, rellenos and tacos al carbon come with either spicy or creamy sauces, diner's choice. Appetizers include crispy, hot, gooey and addictive jackapenos: jalapenos stuffed with Monterey jack and bacon. For seviche, there's three "cocteles" for between $5 and $7 each.

Key Points

  • Authentic Dishes Like Cabrito
  • Tex Mex Favorites
  • Catering for Groups 25 to 300

The Inside Scoop

  1. What to Drink - If you're taking the day off from work, grab a lunchtime margarita for a mere three bucks.
  2. Save Time - This is one of Dallas' best places for a fast, inexpensive and delicious lunch. Only you and about 30,000 others know about it, but somehow, servers will get you out on time and satisfyingly full.

I love Mexican food. This is a great place for authentic Mexican food. The service is great. I love the salsa. There aren't many locations but it's worth the drive anywhere.

Great Salsa!

by G V. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,550

This is one of the first Mexican restaurants I went to after moving to Dallas The salsa is unique, very tasty with a bit of spice, served warm. The flour tortillas are great. Service is always fast, and food always arrives piping hot. Reasonably priced. I definitely recommend it!

Can't go wrong!

by KELLY L. | insider Insider | Rank: 29,123

Best Mexican food I have ever had. I don't make it out there often as it is far from where I live, but it is worth the trip. Quesadillas with Poblano peppers rock, and the hot sauce is fantastic. Love this place!!

Don't miss the grilled shrimp.

by Shari S. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 613

This was the first Mexican restaurant at which I could choose from grilled meats long before fajitas hit the scene, including goat meat and the to-die-for shrimp. Grilled on a skewer, the large shrimp are stuffed with goat cheese and a sliver of jalepeno, then wrapped in bacon. Also excellent catering - perfect (and welcome) for business meetings and training sessions.

PROS: Fabulous food, authentic, Old Mexico atmosphere

Robbed in daylight

by Cosmic

No security so we won't be going back.

The whole family meets up for a great visit in the bar area. We collectively spend a good $150 bucks and tip well. Tonight in broad daylight about 7:30 ? 8 pm my cousin?s car was busted into and a laptop taken. If they can?t keep the place save I have no reason to go back. It?s a good place to eat and visit but the cost just got too high.

Pros: Good food good service until tonight.

Cons: My cousin?s car was broken into literally in front of the pl

Great Mexican

by skrazit

I was born, grown, and raised in Dallas, and this is me and my folks all-time favorite mexican place. I get the tacos al carbon everytime. Don't overlook the home-made pralines they sell by the register. You can take your trendy places in Dallas if you want, but if you want good ole tex mex, with big plates and lots of great food, you can't go wrong

Pros: great food, low price

Not a favorite

by m3initaly

If you're looking for cheap Mexican food, you'll be satisfied. Just don't expect too much qualilty. I've heard so much about this place and how it's a Texas favorite. But, in all honesty, we've got better Mexican food in Georgia. I loved the cheese dip and tortillas. But the chile poblano I ordered did not taste fresh at all - as if it had been made an hour ago and was sitting out the whole time.

Pros: Cheap, Cheap, Cheap! Great tortillas and cheese dip.

Cons: Overall, the food is not high quality.
