Park Cities Obedience School Did an Amazing Job Training My Dog

by Samantha R.

I did a ton of research prior to deciding to use Park Cities for board & train for my dog, Roscoe. I asked my vet, neighbors and my groomer if they had recommendations for dog training. Most of them recommended Park Cities. I went to tour several other places and I can honestly say the ONLY facility that didn't smell horrible (like urine) was Park Cities. Several people mentioned problems they'd had at other boarding/training places. In my opinion accidents can happen anywhere. My child was injured at summer camp last year but that doesn't mean the camp was bad or at fault (in fact my kids are going back to the same camp this year).

Anyway, I took Roscoe in for training and picked him up last Friday after the two weeks. I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with Park Cities when I picked Roscoe up. I was given a lesson which was thorough and informative. The trainer worked Roscoe for me and I saw him performing all of his new commands. Roscoe seemed very happy while the trainer was working him. When they brought Roscoe in to see me he sat quietly and waited for me to pet him. A miracle! Roscoe was clean and smelled great (the staff told me he'd had a 'spa day').

I've had Roscoe home for a few days now and he has done very well at home. I can walk him on the leash, he sits when I tell him to and he's stopped jumping on us. I'm VERY pleased and feel the money I paid Park Cities was money well spent.

I would highly recommend Park Cities to anyone.

Park Cities Obedience School is a cool place for your dog to learn!

by Mike G.

My first time to use a business like this vs Petsmart!I was very happy with the results of my dog! I did the board and train with him! I picked him up last week and I could not believe how well he was doing! It was a miracle before my eyes, I was thinking about giving him up before I looked into this business and went to speak with them. They do what they say they do! He is much more trained than I would have gotten from Petsmart or Petco. It is nice to go to a company that is truthful with you on what it is going to take to have a better dog! Now he visits each day and will be spending next week there while I am out on business. This is a cool place for your dog to hang out while you are away! I love it and he loves it! He really loves it more than he does at home.

Park Cities Obedience School is Outstanding!!!!!!

by Sally S.

I have a very hyper dog & I left her there for two weeks for board and train! When I came to pick her up she was perfect.. They are very nice individuals and I have friends that are going there now for their dog training classes and boarding. Wonderful group of employees! Will use them again and again! I believe she has learned a lot from them! Glad to give you a review!
She will continue to go to Park Cities for more training plus boarding.
She was having a good time the day I picked her up. She wanted to stay and play with her new friends. Thank you for ALL you have done for her!
You are excellent at training!

Shut Those sickos down.

by Mark V.

I saw my neighbor's dog when she brought him home.Alone.No more bubbly Zeus to play with,no more Max to play with.He is still traumatized. My neighbor is sick to her stomach every time she thinks about innocent Zeus never coming home, and Max looking like someone took tried to cut him in half with a chain saw.I cried when I saw Max,and I'm still crying. She paid an enormous price to get her babies trained, and with every passing day,the price gets higher.

We agree enough is enough-someone needs to do something

by Heartbroken L.

There are two little boys counting the days to go visit "their doggies". We travel five hours to visit our cherished friends who have become family over the years. They sleep with Zeus every night we are there visiting. loving on Max when they get an opportunity. They always try to bring Zeus home with them when the time to go arrives. We promise to return soon so they will be okay. We are two weeks away from our next visit. But there is a huge heartbreaking problem this time...there is no Zeus to love on or cuddle!!! Max will have to be left alone to heal from his life threatening injuries that anyone can see are not really from a fence. These "friends " of my boys were left at Park Cities Obedience School and one was returned frozen and the other badly injured and fighting for his life.So what do you say to a nine year old and a five year old.....

enough is enough-someone needs to do something

by jesse H.

My friend took her 2 poodles in May for a two week course in obedience training. she received a call Max ran under a fence and ripped his back that they took him to a vet and he was sewn up and fine. The 10th of June she received an e-mail that a staff member took Zeus home and he died in her bed. 2 hrs later another e-mail that Zeus died in his crate.Upon arriving she took poor frozen Zeus a block away to their vet. He was shocked, he had no knowledge of Zeus dieing. but that morn had removed three tubes from Maxes neck where a very large dog almost ripped his head off. He advised a complete autopsy after he saw e-mails and told her go get Max now. On her return they even showed her the fence. She finally told them enough -I talked to the vet. and he said Zeus was frozen longer than 2 days. The autopsy will be in in 2 weeks! I wonder how this nightmare happens to 2 pets

Great Facility, Great Staff!!

by Ronda A.

After trying a couple of doggie day cares, which made my puppy, Shadow, and I both miserable, I chose to give Park Cities a try. Not because of reviews or word of mouth, but because it's conveniently located off of the highway. Shadow and I couldn't be happier!! The place is always clean and the staff is so friendly it truly is his home away from home!! It's immediately obvious that all of the employees love animals and most, if not all of them, have their own dogs and other animals. Because of our previous experiences with day cares I called to ask how he was doing during his first few visits. Each time a staff member would go check on him and then answer my questions. The first couple of visits he was very shy and the owner gave me some paperwork on how to help dogs overcome their shyness ~ and it worked! He gets so excited when I tell him he's going to school, nearly breaks the car window to jump out when we get there, and pouts all the home after I pick him up. He will be going to Park Cities on a weekly basis as long as I live in Dallas. I wouldn't even consider another day care ~

Great experience!!

by Tenille D.

Hi, my name is Tenille Docampo and I had the wonderful opportunity to adopt a puppy from this rescue organization. The staff is extremely courteous and considerate of all their clients, especially their furry ones! The facilities are beautifully clean and allow all the foster animals to have a wonderful place to reside until they find permanent homes. They have kept up with me to see how my new puppy is doing, which I find very comforting, they obviously are very passionate about all the animals they rescue from the moment they pick them up until after they are adopted out. I highly recommend that anyone use them for either a resource for pet adoption or pet training! Thanks!

Poor Representation

by Never A.

I am searching for a place to take my German Shepherd for training. While searching, I came across Park Cities. I always read the reviews because I value the opinions of others who have experienced the service first-hand. Although, I value them I don't always take them %100 to heart as some people's experiences can be influenced by factors beyond the service providers control. However, despite the fact that I have read some good (and bad) reviews on Park Cities, regardless, I plan to never take my pup to this place. The sheer fact that an employee (I am sure you know who you are if you are reading this) would respond to someone's bad review in such a childish manner is enough reason for me to lose faith in the abilities of the school. Perhaps, thinking before speaking (or typing) isn't something you were taught, but remember as an employee you are representing your employer, aside from yourself. All you did was manage to make yourself AND your employer look like a fool. I will not be recommending this place to others.

Response from this business:

RE: How Can You Review Something You've Never Used?? replied on 05/28/09
I've been taking my dogs to PCOS for several years now. I'm on my 3rd dog that they've helped me train. I started attending their classes 20 yrs. ago and recently took my new pup through their puppy kindergarten class. How can you review a service that you've never used? Have you ever stopped by to talk to the staff? Or called? I've never found them to be anything but caring, helpful and professional. Count me as a very happy customer of Park Cities Obedience School!

Caring people looking out for dogs and their owners

by Jentry L.

I can't speak on the obedience classes, however, I can attest to the caring nature of the staff. I recently adopted a pup from them, and was pleasantly surprised at how prompt they were at responding to my numerous emails and inquiries about the dog. Because the pup I adopted had been homeless for a while and then rescued by PCOS from animal control, she was a little ill. After a trip to the vet, I was informed that her illness was normal and very common amongst rescue dogs. When I picked her up to officially take her home with me, she was freshly groomed (bandanna and all) and was already crate trained and house broken. Basically, they are caring people who are doing their part to better the lives of dogs and their owners!

training good but pet came back very sick

by rebecca b.

update - kennel cough worsened to pneumonia and now $1,500 more in vet bills later and two days in the hospital, I'm just glad she survived. My vet told me he'd treated another sick pet from PCOS in the meantime and planned to give them a call. I don't doubt that they care about pets and their owners but some details seem to be falling through the cracks.

I recently took my dog to PCOS for training and she came back w/ a particularly vicious strain of kennel cough. I am now up to 245 in vet bills. I don't plan on attending the follow up classes for fear of further exposure. Also, prescription allergy pills left w/ PCOS were not administered properly. She should have had 7 pills left upon return but had 28.I will say that the training was good and she's obedient. I am just suspicious of the care she received.

RE: Response To Anonymous Who Couldn't Adopt a Dog

by Deirdre M.

To Anonymous, who was not allowed to adopt a dog from us.

I'm sorry that you were declined for a dog adoption. Unfortunately, as adults, we don't always get what we want, and sometimes what we want is not what is best for us, or what we need.

Because we have spent time with them and have worked HARD to rehabilitate them, we know our rescue dogs inside/out,

If we don't approve an adoption there are very specific reasons, typically it is because the dog would not do well in that particular home. That doesn't mean the applicant wouldn't provide a great home for a dog.

We want our dogs to find wonderful, forever homes. To find homes like this requires us to put the needs of each individual dog first. This may not make us popular with some folks, but our first priority is to protect the dogs in our care.

We are NEVER rude to ANYONE who inquires about one of our available dogs. In fact, we will take our time to educate people on why the dog they chose may not be the best fit for their family, and we will suggest a dog that would be a better match.

World Class Care and Training

by Johnny G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,196

Met the owner and confirm that the care and training for our pets comes from core beliefs of love and affection for animals and fairness and respect for their owners. Can't find a better place for boarding and training in the Metroplex.

Extremely rude people

by Anonymous

We tried to adopt a pet through these people, and not only did they deny our application because "their dogs need someone to stay home with them all day", but they were EXTREMELY rude about it. They even went so far as to say that we did not take good care of the animals we do have. I would absolutely NOT reccommend doing business with people who are so judgemental and blatantly offensive.

Amazing reviews by ghost writers

by Phillip M.

It amazes me that some idiots get on this site and write such inaccurate reviews. If one is going to review a business, at least have the nerve to put your name on the review. Otherwise, it can be considered completely irrelevant. No day care keeps dogs up all day so they can relieve themselves in the owner's car when picked up. No day care allows pet owners to roam free to get their own dogs with no one in site. And why don't people use some common sense and verify some BS story before they continue to spread the rumor and add their own twist. Some businesses deserve bad reviews, but most deserve the benefit of a phone call to verify some rumor you heard. This site could be really useful, but it is not when companies get 5 stars, 1 star, 5 stars, 1 star, and all the 1 stars are by anonymous writers.

No Bueno

by Anonymous

Staff not that friendly. My dog came home a few times with cuts, missing hair, etc. They didn't take him to the bathroom all day one time (my dog is house trained and can hold going to the bathroom for about 8 hrs and when I picked him up, put him in my car he had to go to the bathroom so bad that he had an accident in my car- which had never happened before and has not ever happened again). I went to pick him up one day and all of the dogs were corraled in their own kennel, but no one was in sight. I literally walked in, and found my own dog and left without a single person even knowing I had been there- where was the supervision?? It makes me nervous that the fact that someone could just walk in there and take a dog without them even having a clue. That has happened more than once. With that said- my dog will not ever be visiting again.

Obedience

by Anne M.

I owned three dogs while I lived in Dallas. All three went through obedience training at Park Cities. One dog went through three sessions, mainly because he was so darn smart and energetic that he really enjoyed them. I found their facilities to be clean. I found their instructors to be kind.

Park Cities "Abuse" School

by Anonymous

Many of you have probably seen the story on the Channel 11 News of the dog that was abused/mistreated at Park Cities Obedience School. The staff there used a "shock" collar/no bark collar on a dog that was being boarded there....without the consent or knowledge of the dog's owner. The dog suffered terrible puncture wounds and injuries due to these irresponsible actions of Park Cities Obedience School.
I boarded my dog there in March of 2006. When I picked him up, he could barely open his eyes, had a sever case of kennel cough, and had numerous gashes and cuts on his head and neck. When I contacted Park Cities Obedience School regarding the matter. They made the statement that "scabs, missing hair, and superficial scratches are to be expected when dogs are playing". This place is an absolute joke and needs to be SHUT DOWN. I am currently in the process of contacting Channel 11 news to add my story to the information they broadcasted on their newscast. By the way, Park Cities Obedience School did not offer to reimburse me for my dog's medical expenses, or for the cost of boarding him at their facility.
If you love your pet, do yourself and your pet a favor and DO NOT even consider boarding your animal at their "facility".

Sick Animals from Park Cities

by Mari Anne M.

Park Cities came highly recommended for obedience training. We sent our 6 month old Labradoodle (which we paid 1300 for), Belle, came back to us sick as sick as any animal I have ever seen. We took her Dr. Vaughn at Rutherfords, he thought it might be distemper and that we may lose her. Needless to say, we authorized him to do whatever to save her, she was in puppy ICU isolation for about 5 days, it was not distemper and she was okay. However, that little stay cost us a fortune. Going back to Park Cities, they denied any issues, would not return any payment and we also did not get any value afterwards from the training and we refused to bring her back to that environment, so we did not get any follow up training on what we were supposed to do. Training was very expensive also.

Happenstance, ex Mayor Ron Kirk took his dog in at the same time, I don't think he had any problems but he did remark that the kennels were filthy.

A neighbor of mine, heard the story about Belle and called me, she had just gotten her dog back from Park Cities, sick as can be, Kennel Cough, and multiple visits to vet, she's up to about 350. in vet bills, plus not getting any satisfaction as we did from complaining to Park Cities. And also she does not want to return either for the followup training, which is a part of the cost of training.

This needs to be investigated, see if there are others with this same story. Or is there an Animal Control type of organization that we can submit our complaints to, thanks for all your support.

PROS:
CONS: Very sick dog from Park Cities training

Park Cities Obedience School

by Eddie Q. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,875

My sister and I took her dog here to get him trained. The people that worked with him did an excellent job in training. The dog learned alot, and the trainer took her time in showing my sister how to keep the training going at home as well. The price was very good and the people there were exceptionally smart and wonderful.
