I went in and asked for a simple A-line bob haircut. The student had no idea what she was doing! Her poor skills and workmanship were correlated directly with a bad haircut I received. She continued to cut and did not ask how I felt about my hairstyle. The instructor had come by to see the work and said adjustments needed to be made. To her it meant continuous cutting and they used a razor to cut parts of my hair. Although I am not a hairstylist I know the difference between scissors and razors. Razors can be damaging if used on longer lengths of hair for women. Now I am left with shreds of hair and nothing can be redeemed! I will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER recommend this place to anyone. If you want a nice haircut it is best to invest money in a real hair salon with experienced stylists.

I would recommend this place to everyone!!!! I was ashamed how my hair looked before i went. She did a wonderful job and if they can make my hair look great they can make anyone's look great.To bad the one that did my hair today is graduating tomorrow but i will be back in 6 weeks.It is worth every penny.Great JOB Toni&Guy!!!

I love getting my hair cut here. It may take a lil time but you get what you ask for. They really can't mess your hair up. Because they have to get the "go ahead" from instructors before they chop it off.

You get the newest styles for such a cheap price! I like going in and letting them do what they want. They feel so much more comfortable and you have a better chance of getting a better hair cut.

Think about it- even if its not EXACTLY what you want, you still will get a good stylish cut. And if anything IT GROWS BACK! And you have helped someone learn something about how you don't want it cut.

I love it here! I get compliments on my hair all the time and tell all that I get it cut at TONI & GUY SCHOOL on Trinity Mills and Marsh!

With a short style, a LOT of hair, and a teacher's salary, the T&G Hairdressing Academy is a God-send. After going here for at least 3 years, getting my hair cut and sometimes highlighted between every 6 - 8 weeks, I can count on one hand, how many times I've walked out less than completely satisfied with my style/stylist. I would never try to go on a Saturday without an appointment, and they only take appointments up to 3 pm. Tue - Fri, so you should call if time is an issue. If time is money, then what you don't pay for in $$, you make up for in time spent in the chair. I grade papers or catch up on mag. reading. A great place for students and/or people with high-maintenance hair on a budget! $20 ($17 + tip) for a good-to-GREAT haircut. Not for extremely high-maintenance PEOPLE! They're students, so give'em a break! Your hair grows back and you don't look as bad as you think you do, Narcissus! : )

I've been going to the TonI & Guy Academy for almost two years. I have never walked out disappointed. I usually go in for a cut, color, and highlights. I get there at 1 pm and usually leave around 4 pm. It does take a while, BUT the results (and the price) are worth it! Bring a good book to read. Only once did an instructor have to take over to finish my cut. Overall, I am completely satisfied and highly recommend Toni & Guy Academy.

I was referred to Toni and Guy Haridressing because I've had the pony tail look for the past 10 years. Witt did an outstanding job and the instructor, Roldolfo was awesome as well. I really liked the price and would reccommend anyone to go and try them out.

First, let me say that I've read the other reviews and I agree that it does, on occasion, take some time to get an instructor over to begin the haircut. Also, students that haven't been there as long require the occasional cross-check from an instructor. Although the students are well-trained by the time they are able to perform services on clients, they are still students. Several posts seemed to voice annoyance over waiting on an instructor, but keep in mind that it is in the clients best interest to begin and end the service under an instructors supervision.
For the post that said the wait is too long, that's what appointments are for.
I've found it's best to find someone you like and stick with them until they graduate...that way you know you're getting a good cut/color before you go in. When it gets closer to time for that person to graduate, have them suggest another student to cut your hair the next time.
The great thing about the Toni & Guy Academy is that if you're not satisfied, an instructor will always fix it for you. Unlike the salons where you might just be out of luck.. Plus, you become a part of the students education and that's more important than anything.

PROS: Great cuts/color, helping students out
CONS: Occasional wait on an instructor, but patience is a virtue

i think that this is one of those places where you can get a really really good haircut for an awesome price if you get a good student. i love my haircut, and the student i worked with was very friendly and told me about all the products she was using. however, i went with someone else and she didn't quite have the same results. i would still recommend it, but i have a feeling that it's more of a gamble than going to a real salon, and you should be prepared for that risk.

I love this place but the wait is too long. I have came here a few times with my friends and we all love it. the wait is long but when they get to your hair you will think it is worth it all.

I went to Toni & Guy for years, and like the "feel" of being at a real beauty salon w/beauty school prices.

I was lucky to work w/thesame student for the first year. She was attentive to my likes and dislikes and the service was NEVER supervised. The only time the instructor came around was for a question or to approve the final result.

The instructors were crass at times talking about customers once they left w/complete disregard that there were customers being serviced. Also, constructive criticism was easily misinterpreted to be complaints, and they would just say "there is nothing more that we can do for you here".

I sat through many haircut disasters, and most of the customers that I observed were pleased w/their haircut after a lot of "tweaking".

Bypass this one. Trust me.

If you're not in a hurry and want a fabulous Toni and Guy haircut at unbelievable prices, schedule an appointment at the Toni and Guy Academy in Carrollton. Advanced level students offer their services under close supervision of instructors. You get a great cut at a price that's snipped.
