Reviews for Republic Of Texas Restaurant

Ratings_icons Republic Of Texas Restaurant is Fun

Fun place to eat and drink along the river walk. Dance floor is a nice touch. Love the huge margaritas. We go several times a year to San Antonio and we stop her each time.

The food was pretty good and decent priced. The wait staff was very friendly. I love the fact that they have a dance floor in the middle of the restaurant.

Ratings_icons Hungry? Thirsty? Everything's bigger at the Republic of Texas

I went to the Republic of Texas restaurant on the riverwalk a few years ago and the food was excellent. The appetizers were to die for and the margaritas were huge!! 44 oz of lime, tequila and salt. What more could you ask for!! The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was verry down to earth. The more people you take the merrier. I went with a group of about 10 and we had an excellent time.

PROS: Service, atmosphere, food, location

Ratings_icons So-so food, but good service and great atmosphere

Lisa K. | insider Insider | Rank: 23,807

The prices are pretty much average, $6+ for a burger meal, $14+ for a steak meal, etc. The food took way too long to come out. I went on a pretty busy Saturday night, got seated quickly, but waited about 40-50 minutes for the food. The service was pretty good, the waiters and managers kept coming out and apologizing; they explained that they have a super small kitchen. The food itself was decent, nothing really spectacular. Perhaps I should have asked what dishes chef recommends. They had mostly Texan and some Mexican food to choose from. The portions weren't meager, but they also weren't abundant, which is a little disappointing considering Texas is all about big everything, including portions. The atmosphere was comfortable and very laid back. It is the Republic of Texas after all. I can't comment on the decor inside, I sat in the tables outside, by the river, but I could hear the music and singing coming from inside. After a certain time (I think it was 9:00-9:30pm) they open up the dance floor inside the restaurant. People walking by would sing-along to "I've Got Friends in Low Places."
