Aquarium World

This store is really nice. The staff is great. We bought almost everything from other stores and kept having many problems. We heard about Aquarium World from Petco and decided to try there. The staff was incredible, they helped us solve our problems (yes we were over feeding) over a period of about 3 weeks. We were very impressed because they never tried to sell us anything as a miracle cure like all the other stores had. Instead they figured out where we went wrong and taught us how to solve the problem and prevent it from happening again. All in all, the staff probably spent 3-4 hours helping us. We felt guilty about not buying anything, but the staff simply said that they help people out because that is what they like to do, and later if we are ready to buy something to keep them in mind. My wife was very impressed and found out that most of the staff has been there for many years (some over 10 years). They must really like their job and care about the customers because we saw them help/tolerate other customers there that were rude and abrasive and still provide good quality service and advice (that must be hard to do when customers think that being demanding will get them more). The staff at this store will bend over backwards to help as long as you are polite, honest, and don't try to abuse them.

The store layout is VERY nice, they have a 10+ foot tall in-wall saltwater aquarium that's a must see, a large pond with a waterfall, quite a selection of salt and freshwater fish, a modest selection of parts and supplies (filters, lights, food, etc) and a reasonable in-store selection of high end aquariums.

Keep in mind, all these nice things cost money and you'll definintely be paying for them with every purchase. Nearly every item I've priced with them has been double or more than double what I can get it for online and at least 50% more than most local stores.

Go here to browse around but take your business elsewhere.

One other note, there are only 1 or 2 people working there capable of giving you an answer for anything, so if you ask a question and it's the wrong person, expect to wait while they track down someone who knows what's going on.

I went to this store to see if the other reviews were correct as I had only heard good things. I was very impressed. The staff was very knowledgable and helpfull. I even tested their knowledge a bit. They were very clear that some of the fish I wanted to mix together were not good choices and in one case a very bad choice. They even refused to sell me that fish to go with what I had - they were very honest a straight forward about it. A great place that passed my tests. I would really recommend this store over most others in Houston. Its clean, the staff is honest, and they won't sell you what won't work, or is a bad idea.

We went here looking for our first family fish and we will definitely go back. The staff was pretty knowledgeable especially the people who helped us, except for one who was very rude. They knew what they were talking about and helped us quickly and efficiently. The store layout was nice and it was very clean, along with plenty of parking out front. The prices were pretty high, though. We will go back here instead of Petco or Petsmart anyday because the employees are much better and more friendly as well as the great selection in the store, you can't beat it.

It's a fun place to visit, but if you're serious about the hobby, I'd consider going somewhere else. Their layout is really cool, but the employees seem to be there more for the paycheck than for the fun of dealing with fish. It's better than Petsmart, but still leaves a bit to be desired.

Aquarium World is a really big, neat store, complete with a large waterfall and huge, huge tank full of large fish. There is also a pond with a sweet little bridge and deck. The experience is well worth the time to visit. However, I think their prices are quite high and the knowledge, friendliness, and helpfulness of the staff leaves something to be desired. It's a neat place to visit, but I don't buy anything there.

This store varies from a pet shop to a touristy aquarium. They have everything you may possibly need for your home aquarium. They have tons of in stock tanks ranging in size from 5 gallon to over 100 gallon. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They have many hard to find fish and plants. They also have neat things to create your own private pond.
