Another store to get lost in for hours on South Congress. Their selection is great and they have a lot of little unique items ranging from delicate antiques to 70s & 80s kitsch. Be sure to check out the old pictures and postcards. The location is great and Uncommon Objects should be a primary stop on any trip to SoCo.

Probably my favortie store in Austin. Very unusual "vintage" and antique items. I loved the old scrapbook we found once ($50!) and the unusual pieces of pottery. Lots of trendy vintage jewelry, clothing, furniture ect. It is a hipsters antique store; you do not have to dig for treasures in here, the owners have found all the good stuff and brought it to Uncommon Objects. Unfortunatly, the prices reflect that fact.

So many antiques under one roof! You will certainly find a gift for anyone that you are looking for. You can spend hours in here. Check back often to see what new things they have gotten in.With the many shops on South Congress, this one certainly stands out. I have found many things here for others and recommend it to everyone.

You can spend hours sifting through objects of the past and admiring the intricate room displays here before you realize half the day is gone. Don't leave without a real cowboy shirt from the 50s.
PROS: Fun, tons of vintage objects, neat furniture, appliances and apparel
CONS: Can be exhausting and pricey

A very interesting place, but usually crowded and WAY overpriced. I like going there just to browse and look around.

Charming!!
by inuxvomica
Absolutely my favorite place we visited in Austin. So much to look at..it's absolutely a vintage/thrift store junkies dream come true. I loved how everything was displayed..such an eclectric group of things arranged in such a harmonic way. I bought a really neat vintage pirate bank and a glass syringe for a friend who collects old medical supplies. I highly recommend taking an hour or so to explore.
Pros: treasure hunt!, nice staff
Cons: kind of crowded at times, some things are a bit overpriced

Superior Selection
by nuckkol
The knowledgeable staff know how to help collectors and looky-loos. The prices are better than most shops of this type. I am always happy with their chalk items. Old photographs, pictures, postcards, posters & frames are amazing. The jewelry, lamps, furniture, clothes , books & toys are must haves. The store has been my favorite for decades. Now, it is better organized, well light and often, items are grouped by color, genre or era. I'm not gonna mention the McCoy pieces-oops! My Sis & Mom from East Texas visit just to shop here. If you don't shop here, more's the better for me & mine. I LOVE THE STORE! And Steve, well he is the best! New items arrive all the time.
Pros: Selection, Location, Prices
Cons: Warmish in Summer

What a cool store
by schleel
The word 'awesome' is bandied about too frequently, but this place really does inspire awe. It is huge, and has literally thousands upon thousands of rare, unique or just bizarrely prefect articles. Helped by the ambience-great music, amazingly cool staff whose genuine love of old and beautiful things is very apparent, water for your dog on a hot day (from a vintage china bowl no less!),sodas in a vintage cooler, topical and political window displays from decades of junk made art...not your mom's antique mall.
Pros: staff, parking, neighborhood
Cons: hard to leave without

by keepaustinweerd
From the exquisitely beautiful (provincial French furniture,Victorian jewelry, fine antique china) to the funky (vintage cowboy boots,50's dresses, tiki lounge accessories) and the downright bizarre (1940's anatomy charts, glass eyes, fauxfur couches) this is THE place to be.
Pros: parking never a prob, huge store, freedom to browse
Cons: can be busy, some items pricey

The Best of the Hard To Find
by Jack_Green
I've been a customer of Uncommon Objects for years, and have always been very happy with what they have. No matter what I'm looking for (and I've looked for some odd items), they either have it, or know where to find it. The staff are always helpful and reflect the wonderful atmostphere which is "South Congress". Everytime I come in, D'Ette (sp?), Steve, et al always make it a point to say "Hello" and ask how my family is. Uncommon Objects reflects what I wish more businesses would do in this world. Customer Service, above and beyond the call of duty. Keep up the great work, gang!!!!
Pros: Customer Service, Selection, Price
