My friends and family LOVE this place the food is amazing, I work for a large Hotel brand so I explore with food, in order to recommend to our guests and this place is one of the top three Steak houses in Dallas (based on my opinion only)... but let me tell you I know food!!! The service can use an upgrade but the food and atmosphere make up for it!! TRY IT.

5 Stars: The Best in Down Town (by glamorouslaura)

Butcher Shop in my opinion is the best steak house restaurant in down town. They have great service and the food is fantastic. Not only is the service and food good but the place itself is very ellegant and it provides a relaxing environment. After you have relaxed yourself for a while you can also enjoy yourself with your friends or family playing pool or playing in the slot machines. I'll definetaly come back to Buthcer Shop with more friends to experience such a great time as I did before.

5 Stars: My husband and I love this place! (by Bettieo)

We live here in dallas and love this steak house. I am unsure why the others said such nasty things? ( seriouse diner only had one review...so is he REALLY a serious diner? ha! ) We walk down to the West end alot and love to cook our own steaks and have a happy hour or two at the butchershop. There are alot of fun things to do in this city and we love an occasional steak as well. the butchershop has never dissapointed us and I find the pricing to be very fare as well. Give them a try I think you will like them . They are on the Best of Steaks voting poll this month as well and you don't get on that list by being a bad staek house ;)

1 Stars: cold meat (by zacks)

The shrimp martini was bitter and tasted like green olives from an old jar . The10 oz filet was served at room temperature. The 18 oz angus aged ribeye was mostly fat and also seved room at temperature. Both steaks were tough and chewy. I feel sick to my stomach. The food came out out fast. The waiter never asked me how my food was, probably a good idea. The Butcher Shop is with out a doubt the worst steak house I have ever been to in my life. What a waste of money.

4 Stars: Cook your own steaks (by Tim B.)

This is a nice, upper-middle of the road steakhouse. The cool this about it is that they will cook your steak to order, or you can go over to the mesquite pit grill and cook it yourself. The food and service is good, and the atmosphere is great.

5 Stars: On business trip (by berl)

I was sitting in my hotel room in Dallas, and wanted to go have a nice meal so i looked on Citysearch and found The Butcher Shop Steak House within walking distance. I was dining alone and sat at the bar and ordered my meal and had a few drinks. The bartender was great and the place has a great feel about it. I had a great time!

5 Stars: My Kids Cooked Steaks (by rmva)

My family and i had a great experience at Butcher Shop steakhouse on Saturday night. My 2 sons wanted to cook some steaks on the grill for the first time (made them feel like big boys they said). The cooks helped me and them during our time at the grill. They burned a few peices of Texas Toast, but that is part of the fun. All the staff is great and friendly. The food was great!!!! It won't be our last visit, we promise!!!!

5 Stars: Fantastic service, very comfortable atmosphere (by blfsplk)

For the second year running, I was able to secure a semi-private area for a group of Navy Intelligence retirees (with a smattering of Marines tossed in for good measure) at The Butcher Shop. The atmosphere of the dining area enhanced the camaradarie of all concerned, and of course, the waitstaff were attentive and cordial, no one waiting long for anything, from drinks to meals to deserts. I also noted lots of us had carry-out boxes toward the end, leaving not much of anything for the dumpster. Great service, great food, great place to go for an evening of renewed friendships. Thanks again!

1 Stars: Not the same place. Looks like new owners. (by Mark J.)

My wife and I decided to try The Butcher Shop after I purchased a discount gift certificate online for the restaurant. We decided to go on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm. I assumed that this would be a busy time, so I went to their website and did an online reservation. When we got to the restaurant we opened the doors and there were a total of 3 other tables. We were greeted by someone who was obviously not a host or hostess. They were wearing chef pants and a t-shirt. Also, I have read other reviews where people said they displayed all their meats in a windowed cooler as you walk by, apparently not anymore. The cooler was completely empty. After being seated by a cook, we ordered a glass of wine and then placed our orders. We ordered the 8 oz Filet Mignon priced at $30.00. The waiter then brought us some unimpressive bread and then our salads with wilted lettuce. A few minutes later he brought us our entrees. I was immediately over taken by an awful smell. I thought at first it was the twice baked potato (which was horrible and swimming in a pool of oil) but it was actually the steaks. It appears they put a lot of garlic powder on their steaks.

We were very disappointed in this place. They were charging Ruths Chris prices for Golden Corral steaks. The atmosphere was also lacking. The place looked like it should be upscale but they were playing XM radio. So as we sat there we got to listen to "sunny" music and commercials. Something else we noticed on the way out was our waiter and the bartender both standing in the corner eating dinner.

I am not sure what happened to this place. From reading other reviews, it looks like new owners took over this place and it is slowly going downhill. I suggest they contact Gordon Ramsay and his Kitchen Nightmares show. That is what this place reminded me of.

5 Stars: Pick and grill our own! (by wendyyork)

As you first arrive, the aromas from their charcoal grill will greet you, you get to pick out your own selection of steaks and chops through their meat display case. They have huge bakers and great desserts. I loved that you can cook your own steak. If you are a tourist you can wear jeans or a suit, it?s a full mix. Everything was fresh and tasty! Great service too. I give this a two thumbs up :)

5 Stars: Steak the way you like it! (by wolfevideo)

What an amazing concept! I didn?t know there was such a place until I walked into this great steakhouse the other day! You can pick out your steak and grill it yourself if you want!! I love that . My Husband thinks he is the only one that can cook a steak, so now I get to go out and he gets his steak exactly the way he likes it but better! Better because they have Mesquite wood that we cook our selection on and all of the sides we can imagine ala carte. I am sure the kids can appreciate not being forced to look at a veggie on their plate if you choose not to order one . I personally saved room for dessert. Hands down one of the best times we have had as a family in a long time. Go now and see for yourself!!! Fun fun fun , and yum yumm yummm!.
