The Mezzanine Lounge is Houston's favorite casual neighborhood sports bar! Imagine having an entertaining experience like no other. We have over thirty-five televisions strategically placed around the club so that you will never miss the latest game action, even in the restrooms. Have a special game or TV show you want to watch? Just ask! We're happy to find it for you! Not sure what to drink? Take the elevator to the mezzanine and take your chances with the shot wheel at the upstairs bar. Downstairs there is more of a lounge atmosphere with seating, televisions, jukebox with a lot of variety, & mood. Chat with your friends, relax with your choice of over 30 beers, & meet some new people. Hungry? Our kitchen serves the full menu ALL NIGHT LONG.
terrible customer service
by xalklmxkll
eff this bar!! It just goes to show you how terrible customer service can ruin a place. I went on UFC night sat on the patio and ranked up a $100 tab. Had some hot wings when I realized I needed something to drink (besides beer) to put out the fire. I did not wan to trouble the waitress so I took it upon myself to walk upstairs and ask the bartender for a glass of water. he refused to GIVE me a glass of water and offered to sell me bottled. Not usually a problem but since my mouth was on fire I didn't eve bother bring my purse up with me. The bartender still refused. Terrible customer service!!

A cool spot to hang during the week!
by pinksuga
I LOVE this place (upstairs) on Tuesday nights! My girlfriends and I call this our litte hideaway spot because most of our friends have never heard of it - and we like it that way :) On Tuesday nights you can enjoy "$2.50 you call it's" all night long and a lot of the songs they have in the jukebox took me WAY back...I'm talkin old school 80's carryin' a boombox on your shoulder gold chain and addidas rap!! Now don't get me wrong, they play a WIDE variety of music and the crowd is always pretty mixed, so there is a little something for everyone. They also have a mix and match menu of food...I would not recommend the bacon wrapped shrimp (I suppose that's never a good idea at a bar), but the mango wings and the pizza usually don't disappoint. I always leave a happy camper!! One thing I often wonder - when you walk in there are people engaged in what appears to be some sort of group game...can anyone tell me what the heck is everyone doing downstairs?? LOL!
Pros: GREAT drink specials, not crowded, a jukebox
Cons: Sometimes the wait/kitchen staff can be slow

Something for everyone
by cinlaird
This is truly the classic example of a neighborhood pub where you can go and feel comfortable. You can see and get to know all ages, groups, etc. A wonderful blend of folks like to hang out here. The bartenders and management are just the friendliest!! Caution: If you are used to getting weak , watered down drinks at other places, you better go easy on the drinks at Mezz. They pour them plenty strong! The shot wheel is fun and Poker nights are great! Karioke is a hoot!
Pros: Best drinks/drink specials/events/nicest management
Cons: None

GREAT LOUNGE!!!! FALSE ADVERTISMENT!!!!
by LaHottie
I was so excited to hear that the Mezzanine Lounge shows the game as well as the fights for free. It was to my dismay , when my boyfriend and I arrived we were charged a $7 cover charge. Not that $7 is expensive, but the online video was a fraud!!!! The Mezzanine Lounge is a great club and attracts many people, so for future references "DON'T FALSE ADVERTISE".
Pros: Many
Cons: Cover charge for fights

Best bar in town
by crazyjohn
This is the best bar in town, without a doubt. You won't find more friendly, hands-on owners, managers or bar staff. From Tommy and Tanya, to Phillip (my favorite Golden Tee victim), To Damien and all the great bartenders.
I don't look for places to go anymore. I just decide when I want to go out and follow my friends right here. My favorites are definitly Tuesday Trivia and DJ Larry on Fridays, who by the way will be upstairs Halloween night playing some scary tunes for us all. But the best thing is just hanging out with my friends on thier huge patio. Either watching a game or fight on the big screen, or a band on the stage. Check it out. You will have fun here.

Suitable for Sports Fans only
by cats70
This place is more for a younger crowd, interested in sports viewing on the big screen TVs. If you are not a sports fan don't even bother going there. Was not really impressed. The drinks were average but the service was good.

Great Food, Best Bartenders, Great for Sports Fans
by ashleywebb
I've been coming to the Mezz since it opened, and have gotten to know the management/staff very well. I walk in and everyone knows my name! I hardly ever go to any other bar anymore. Poker nights are always fun, as are the themed parties.
Pros: Great barfood, best bloody mary's, something new everynight
Cons: Parking lot can get crowded, check your reciept for extra charges

Great for the Gay Golden Tee player and Jalepeno things
by chadshrump
As a young gay professional from Indy. I had heard from a friend of mine in Chicago that this place had a great group of Gay Golden Tee players. Just want to say thanks to the bar and GT players I 'hung' with. JStew, Staceman, BAW, Tater, Spanky, and Da Skooter. Thanks for the great evening rolling the trackball(s)! HeHe, you know what I mean. xoxoxoxo :)
The jalepeno things are to die for! Better than Antanio Bandaras in a banana hamock!!!
Your buddy Chad from Indy!
Pros: Da GT players!
Cons: None

Best Sports Bar!
by elnaranja
The Mezz is great and has hosted the Texian Army and El Batallon, the supporter's groups of the Houston Dynamo, for two years now and we love every minute we spend there, be it for Dynamo games or National team games. They have a wide array of beers and liquor, plus their ever-growing food menu is top notch. The burgers and pizza are easily the best on the menu.
The bar tenders are also really nice and learn your name real fast and are super nice and have no problem in joining in on the fun. During one away viewing party in 2007, the upstairs was jam packed with Dynamo fans and the place was rocking, literally. The floor was vibrating from jumping and singing and the tenders joined in!
Their birthday drink is also really nice, and huge! Karaoke is always a blast and people sing everything from common Karaoke to stranger things. The trivia games are fun, as well, and poker is common. Every sport you can think of can be on the TVs. Just ask! Astros, Rockets, Texans, Dynamo, whatever!
I tell ya, I always go to the Mezz for sporting events and will continue to do so. They are just amazing and the owner, Tonya, is a real sweet gal! A good friend!
Pros: Ambience, Food, Service
Cons: Parking can get tricky on big events

Best NTN/Buzztime location in Houston
by aardvk
My husband COOGS and I have been regulars here for a couple of years now, coming 2-3 times per week to play NTN/Buzztime trivia with our friends. Mezz offers an all-around great experience, from the attentive staff to the food (the Mezzy burger is a world unto itself, while COOGS swears by the nachos) to the ambience (lots of things to do even for the non-trivia player, including pool, karoaoke, Golden Tee, and and Texas Hold 'Em). The Mezzanine rightfully won the Houston Press "Reader's Choice" award this year for best drink specials, from its $2.50 U-Call-It Tuesdays to the Fiesta Fridays where both Dos Equis and margaritas come in also at $2.50.
Owners Tonya and Tommy put a lot of energy into coming up with even more ways for people to have fun, from the monthly theme party to the new Wednesday movie night on the patio with free popcorn. Plus this is "the" place to celebrate a birthday--as we both will be doing this week: the enormous "Gullywasher" for the birthday person, plus free drink tickets if at least 10 friends come along and $10 of Mezzy bucks.
All in all, a wonderful place for people of varying ages and interests to come together and enjoy themselves.
Pros: Great NTN/Buzztime trivia, drink specials, kitchen open late
Cons: Sometimes noisy when lots of folks are there having a good time

sports and fun
by liquidchef
Love the place. great for watching the games, when there are not sports on they have a great juke box and some nights karoke. i like that it is two levels with a patio, so you have 3 places to find the fun crowd. For sports bar food i think it is very good, TRY THE GRASSHOPPERS. I also like the fact that the owners seem to be hands on, they are there often and treat their customers like they are guests. Great drink specials, especial tues. and thur. if you are looking for a fun bar i definetily recommened it.
Pros: fun, drinks, sports
Cons: wish they opened earlier

Great Sunday Afternoon Spot
by rmayfi8518
My Wife and I do a pub most Sunday afternoons. The MEZZ has the four things key to a great time. 1) A full pint of cold Shiner Bock- none of that 3/4" missing, "it's for the head", funny bussiness here. You paid for the pint you get the whole frosty delicious pint! 2) Some of the best pub food in town- the Buffalo wings are killer and the burgers are nice and juicy. 3) "Crak machines"-You know these little guys, they are the video machines on the bar that remove all the $1s out of my wallet. And finally 4) A great jukebox selection- I don't want to have to read a lot of hand written personal mixed CD's. I want the picture of the artist on the front and I don't want the album that sat on the discount sales stand for a year either. See'ya Sunday.
Pros: Full, cold pints, great buffalo wings
Cons: I can' think of one

Great for Dynamo Games
by dutkae
Love going here to watch the Dynamo win. I always end up staying after the game for the great food (steak night, yum!), or the karaoke. My favorite place for watching a game of any kind....and the staff is always very nice.

Good Neighborhood Bar
by mykalfaith
Many themed nights and different types of happy hours. I've mostly gone on weeknights - Tuesday Trivia is great! Friendly bar staff, casual atmosphere, and a good place to dress down and hang out at.
Pros: Tuesday Trivia, friendly staff
Cons: Can get crowded

Best place to watch the Coogs!!

Great place to watch UH games on the big screen with sound (even if UT or other big college games are on at the same time)!! Laid-back, great specials, friendly and accomodating staff.

This place has my vote
by yaaagirl
I came from out of state and this is the first place I popped into. I have not been to another bar since. The staff is great, there is a drink special every night, and the food is pretty good. If you are looking for a place just to hang out then this is the place for you.

Sports viewing in Houston--
by jtdawg
I have been to The Mezzanine a few times now to catch the UFC events. I like the place the way it is. They do not charge cover for these big events, and there is always great specials. Not sure where other people watch, but The Mezzanine has 6 large PLASMA/LCD t.v.'s split up and down. There is also a BIG SCREEN that is HD, and a 10 FT projector on the patio that is HD as well.. There are about 25 other tv's spaced throughout the place. iT IS A VERY HOMEY, RELAXING ATMOSPHERE EVERYTIME i COME IN.
Pros: Not in Austin

its about time to upgrade to HD
by jspev
We we were in town from Austin thinking Houston should have superior sports bars. We searched online, and asked our hotel consierge. This place was recommend by both. We called before heading over there and they told us they have over 30 tv's upstairs and 8 downstairs. I was stoked, thinking they would absolutely be plasmas, even Dairy Quenn in Austin has a plasma, but they were all old tv's from the 80's. I guess I may be a little spoiled, but would have thought with all the money here, that any Houston sports bar would have put any Austin sports bar to shame. Not the case. The place brought back memories of being in a third world country that does not have access to the same technology we are lucky to have here in the USA. Suprisingly, they did have a lot of casualy dressed rowdy patrons ready to watch football, soccer and UFC. All in all, I had a good time and forgot that I was watching analog television after I drank a few beers and $2.50 Jack and Cokes, but if I was a regular patron, I would ban the place until they upgrade.
If I was management, I would be scared of losing my patrons to a new bar that understands the importance of providing the HD experience. We had 13 people at our table, whose bar tab could almost cover the cost for the first one.
Pros: lots of people, lots of old tv's,
Cons: lots of old tvs, no HD

Great cozy place to catch sports
by lisalovely
Yes, this place is a bit "cozy", but it makes all the action that much more fun!!! It has everything the bigger mid-town and village bars have, BUT BETTER PRICES!!! It even carries all the HOUSTON DYNAMO games. The staff and food have always been great to me and my friends, no EXCEPTIONS!!!
Pros: Love those HOUSTON DYNAMOS
Cons: Loud

Completely different experience
by lostinvegas
WOW!!!!! I guess everyone has their own opinion. I have been a loyal patron of "THE MEZZ" since it opened 3 years ago, and I have never had a bad time!! The food is excellent, and I can see why they have won numerous awards for food and service! I used to frequent lots of the bars in the village and mid-town, but since they have opened, it is just like home for me!! And while the staff is not filled with 18 year olds that are hot, but inexperienced, they do have some girls that U would definitely go home with (I have tried)!!!
Pros: Best bar menu in town
Cons: Sometimes gets overcrowded during big events

Most OVERATED Lounge!!!
by barwhore05
OK... I've been to a lot of bars. This is your typical bar, nothing special. The 27 TVs that they have are out of date and small... The food is had probably been reheated from the week before and probably frost bit before that... The beer that I had was flat and gross, probably due to the lack of people that actually go there to drink it... (old kegs and dirty lines) And the staff... my goodness... talk about trailer park trash. These girls have Definitely been beat with the ugly stick! Sad but true. I guess for some people, personality goes a long way... I think... :) I actually feel some sympathy for this place as they most likely will not be able to stay afloat much longer. Anyone looking for a new spot to open a bar??? :)
Pros: Ummmm.... I'm thinking...
Cons: How much time do you have?
Posted 06/12/07
this place is awesome!!!!!!!!
by mama_02
looks can be decieving, from the outside it looks too stuck up but once inside you realize this place could be your second home. Too many tv's to count with every sport (they are even in the bathrooms), great food (i recommend the surf and turf, tasty) and the bartenders are so friendly. Lots to do like big buck hunter and golden T i can even watch a movie with myfriends in their "blue room". They have specials everynight on food and drinks. You've got to check this joint out for yourself.
Pros: everything
Cons: when Emily's not there.

Home of the Hottest Bartender in H-Town!
by haywire97
This place grows on me more and more every time I grab a drink there, which has become more and more frequent lately. Not only does it have the Big Buck Hunter Pro Edition which is a must for any drinking establishment I frequent, but they have found a perfect way to balance both my drinking and gambling habits with the Shot Wheel. Nothing like leaving your next shot in the hands of fate. Personally my favorite nights are Thursdays and Saturdays. Because in addition to the $2.50 Jager & Tuaca Bombs on Thursday and the off pitch tunes of Extreme Karaoke on Saturday, they've got Rebecca, the most beautiful bartender in the city of Houston, on hand to serve you. If you can't drink your troubles away, just coax a smile out of her and you'll be ready to take on the world.
Pros: Great Service

Don't miss Tuesday nights!
by j_dot
Tuesday night extravaganza! The $2.50 you-call-its, the $5.00 burger and fries, the dozen or so TV screens, the great bartenders (shouts to Alex!), the pool tables, the small lounge area in the back (with Xbox hooked up!!!), I could go on and on. The perfect place to watch the game, and it's welcoming to outta-towners like myself. Can't figure out why there werre maybe 16 people there on both levels Tuesday, but they will DEFINITELY see me on Tuesdays for drinks and Sundays for the Bears games-
Pros: Ample and well-lit parking, easy to find. Spacious. great food, drinks
Cons: What kinda music were they playing? A tad gloomy at first glance...

Great place to meet people
by emily10
My first visit to the Mezzanine Lounge was during an after party for the Houston Dynamo soccer team. I meet alot of the players, and coaches, and other like fans. The bar was very clean and the staff quite friendly. Drinks were very reasonable, especially compared to mid-town or downtown. I will definitely be back!!!
Pros: sportsfans, cheap drinks, great food

by doc1430
The Mezz is set up perfectly. the upstairs is where all the action is whith plenty of TVs, pool, golden tee..then the downstairs allows you to retreat and relax. The tv's while not HD, are very good. I mean we are talking sports here. The food is well above average.
Pros: Prices, variety, drafts
Cons: crowded, loud

by mughead69
First visit to the Mezz, as I have heard the regulars call it now, and hooked me for life! Great specials (Tuesday is $2.50 u-call-its, and they mean it), and the kitchen serves great food till 2 am. Plenty of tvs to catch whatver sport you are into. Also just heard they are a sponsor for the new soccer team in town, and the players are known to stop by after the home games.
Pros: tv's, food, specials
Cons: crowded

A NOT-HOT SPOT
by comalley
I went there after seeing ads that they had 27 tvs and the best wings in town. Well the 27 tvs are small outdated and not in HD and unless you like chicken strips doused in hot sauce I would say the wings are the worst I ever had. When we asked the bar tender for iced tea we got water with a little tint of brown. The service was lousy with only two tables full. I would hate to be there on game day.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Bad Food, Bad Service

Ever since it opened earlier this year...the Mezz has been my favorite place to be on game days.
Heck...any day.
Wings are the best in town...service is great, and the people that hang there really know their sports.
