I really love this place.

Very good value. Large portions and fairly low cost ($10 - $15 range). Also get 2 sides which I went with mashed potatoes and black beans. The creamed corn is also good and homemade not out of a can.

They have huge salads if you're into

we chose to sit outside in the back. We ordered 1 tea & 3 waters and watched the waiter serve our beverages at the outside drink station. He chose to administer ice in all of our cups by sticking all his fingers inside the cups grouping them together at the same time. The worst part was watching them take commercial bug spray and spray over the open ice box and at soda fountain trying to rid the station of the bees. We were literally drinking bug spray. Manager was Luke warm apologetic. That was both times for us-- the first and last.

Nutty Brown Cafe has a huge outdoor area for concerts. It's beautifuly set on a property with tons of large oak trees. My few complaints are... not enough bathrooms. I litterally waited in line for 40 minutes during a concert. It was terrible! Even the guys' bathroom had a line. The parking is terrible. It takes forever to get out of there. Oh, and the last time I was there... I was walking to my car and got peed on because guys were peeing on the other side of the fence next to me. EW!

Just keep on driving! The food is subpar at best. Very greasy and little flavor. Th few times I have been here the waitstaff has been rude and slow. When ordering the last time I was there the waitress actually insinuated that I was "ordering too much food for my body type" She kept coming back to check and see if I finished everything...everytime just rolling her eyes at me. RUDE!

Last night I took two out of town guest to enjoy Nutty Brown, which use to be a very friendly fun place to hear music and have a nice little dinner and a few beers under the trees! What a joke! The girl that was collecting the money for the Eggmen venue was very nice...and the girls at the outdoor bar! We waited for a table, lots of people, no problem waiting...we finally found a table and after sitting there for at least 20 minutes a waiter came by. We asked him to please clean the table, which he sort of mad an attempt. Came back 10 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order. We told him we were not ready...had a drink. Next thing you know a very rude hostess informed us we HAD TO LEAVE! The table was for people eating...what the heck? We had to stand by the bar...even though there were other empty tables! This has never happened to me in all the years I have been going to the Nutty Brown. Too bad....not going again...The owners need to know that the staff is running out customers with their rudeness!

Cons: Customer Service Very Lacking!

.

The staff has turned amazingly bad. In two visits over the last two weeks, we had very poor service from wait staff who couldn't get an order right, didn't pay attention, and spent more time vanished from the floor than actually serving. The food was tolerable but not the same quality it used to be, and because of the poor service, arrived cold on our second visit. That was enough for me to decide driving farther into town for our next meal.

Pros: Maybe they will get back to where they used to be

Cons: Avoid for now

it was an overall good experience and my kids said they actually had pretty good food. My boyfriend and myself enjoyed the food as well LOL

I have been going to this place since it opened. The food was decent, service was good. Was. With any luck another owner will come in and actually do the deal correctly. The place has HUGE potential but current ownership and management is woefully lacking with the exception of a couple of people that have been there a long time. There is a manager that shaves his head and a waiter with long hair that usually wears a bandanna that are both great guys. The other manager with the dark hair is OK. Went to see Eric Tessmer, band and was great the rest was hideous. Outside bar is closed no tables at stage it did start clear out. Sat in the stone pit area. There was no service there. Inside to get drinks. Bartender was slow and inconsiderate as always. Several tables cleared and I went in to ask the hostess if we could be seated. Asked if I wanted to order food, I said no. We were refused a table and told to go drinks myself. The most sanctimonious waitresses that I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, walked by and I asked why the outdoor bar was closed. Response in arrogance ??go ask the hostess? and a disgusted look. I said ??I might as well talk to one of those bricks? pointing at the planter. The waitress responded with disgusted grunting something unintelligible and making a face while rolling her eyes and storming away. RUDE! Went back to the bar, which we usually avoid due to the stench of smoke so strong as to be nauseating. Got a couple of drinks and we were standing at the closed bar and the waitress came by, totally snotty, sanctimonious attitude and again rolled her eyes at me. Where's the manager? The manager came to the hostess area and I suggested we go outside to talk. Guy that shaves his head would have been a lot more calming but this guy managed to calm me some. I made my complaint angrily since I was livid about the ruined evening. The other guy probably would do something since I think he may be part owner not this one I was just an inconvenience. Went to see W.C. Clark the other night and it was pretty much the same. W.C. Is great but doesn't have the equipment to play outside without house PA system which doesn't exist for the small stage. Maybe on the big stage but it's never used. As much of an insult to W.C. as putting B.B King in Austin Music hall. You wonder why it is impossible to get major shows here in the ??Music Capital of the World?? The food at W.C. was repulsive. Did not eat but the stench from the fried food was nauseating. That and the lack of decent sound prompted us to leave. I couldn't determine what the other stink was until I realized it was the fajitas mixed with what would seem to be stale soiled diapers. Kids usually don't bother me to much and the kids that dance to the band are cute and fun to watch. On the other hand, brats with irresponsible parents are another story. The fact that the management doesn't say a word doesn't help. Kid friendly is one thing. Brats in a situation where adults are trying to enjoy the music and setting s not. Apparently at this point the staff for the most part must be imported from New York or California. RUDE, INATENTIVE, SLOW AND SANCTIMONIOUS AT BEST. This place is not a very good place to go any longer. Maybe intelligence and customer focus will win.

Pros: Outstanding outdoor venue IF they use big stage.

Cons: Management, wait staff, smalll stage, W/couple exceptions.

I love this place, good music and good food. It really can't get any better than that! The bartender and waitstaff were awesome. I love going there to see my favorite my favorite band play, Texas Renegade. They play there all the time. Go see em!

We were on our way to a lavendar farm to pick lavendar and had always wanted to try the Nutty Brown Cafe. We stopped and were so pleasantly surprised! We sat outside, and the shade from the large trees kept us cool in the TX June heat. The service was attentive, and the food was yummy! Great experience. This was on a weekend during the day and there was no wait. Good experience, we recommend.

I was on my way to Wimberly with some friends and we stopped at the Nutty Brown for dinner. Guy Forsyth was playing there that night so not only were we able to get some good grub but we also got to see a great show! We got chips and guacomole to start. The guac was like butter - so good! My boyfriend got a chicken fried steak and I got veggie burger. Everything tasted great and for somewhere with such a chill atmosphere we were served very fast.

We love this restaurant. The menu is surprisingly varied; the food is always great; the service is fast and friendly; the customers themselves are diverse and friendly; the atmosphere is relaxed. Who would guess that a "forest-green," cinder-block restaurant with a bandstand and a parrot outdoors would be so well managed? Or have such a great chef? We recently moved to the area from Austin; and for the first time ever, we now have a favorite family restaurant, and it's just around the corner.

I wasn't aware that cell phones were such a rare commodity these days. Cell phone companies practically give these things away for free. I might be able to sell one for what, a whole $5 on the street? The honest staff even searched for the cell phone after the family had left the restaurant, hoping that maybe they had dropped it on the way to the stage to see the music. However the waitress was later accused of taking it because the husband had a "bad feeling about her". Customer service is upheld with outstanding priority and each customer is appreciated the same as the next at Nutty Brown Cafe. Stealing is unheard of and would of course reflect poorly against the restaurant. The food is amazing; the music and atmosphere, even better. Everyone is responsible for their own possessions and to accuse the restaurant and it's staff of STEALING A CELL PHONE?..reflects poor character.

Nice place especially in warmer months to eat out on the shady patio. Food is standard Tex-Mex fare, but Nutty Brown does a nice job with the classics (CFS, burgers, etc). Also of good interest to families is Kids Night on Tuesdays, they have a great balloon twister for the kids and kids at heart, a big plus for this area with limited options for kid-friendly venues outside of fast foods.

We got there after a long day at Perdanales Falls. We were starved and would eat just about anything. The five of us ordered our meals. Two orders were so bad that they it had to be brought to our server's attention. My Frito Pie was disgusting. It was made up of stale Fritos and very salty, dry ground mystery meat with chili flavoring. The meat had more crunch than the chips. I took one bite and pushed it away. My friend ordered enchiladas. Imagine the same Frito Pie mystery meat stuffed in enchiladas. My friend sent the enchiladas back and ordered the oysters. The server just ignored me and my Frito Pie. When the bill came my friend was charged for the enchiladas they took back! Asked for a manager. After ten minutes of further being ignored, we left to never go back!

Went to this restaurant with my son (age 8) and my sister and her son (age 4) on Tuesday night we did not want to cook for the kids. The kids ate for a buck a head and we got good food at a good price. Staff is very friendly (if you're looking for a snobby place, this ain't it!) and Cafe has a nice balloon twister coming around for the kids. Overall, a good experience.

Nutty Brown is a great outdoor live music venue. It reminded me of a mini Backyard. The food was good as was the table service. The bars were really swamped the night i was there and it did take me a while to get a drink. It is fairly close to town and had ample parking. Overall it is a very cool place.
