Buda Family Practice IS A JOKE!!!!!

by WANDA R.

I would not recommend this place to no one....my apt. was for 10 am.I arrived at 9:45.at 10:15 one patient left. They called another back.At 11:15 they finally called me back..at 11:55, I'm still sitting in the exam room listening to the staff laughing and talking..never saw a doctor.got tired of waiting so i ended up leaving.the staff having a good time was more important to them than taking care of their patients.the place closes for lunch at 12 noon So not sure what they wanted me to do. sit in the exam room until they all came back from lunch? no one ever said "sorry about the wait" or "we will be with you in a moment " nothing..i was suppose to see Dr. viscardi..very rude and unfriendly staff.

DISAPPOINTED!

by Jen A.

I followed Dr. Marjorie Viscardi from Victory Medical Center in Austin to the Buda Family Practice. She had replaced Dr. Rebecca McKowen, who went on to pursue further education. No one could really replace Dr. McKowen, but Dr. Viscardi was a close second. I had referred three other people to Viscardi, one including my now husband.

Recently, I have had some medical problems, a low-grade fever that has lasted now for 60 days. I have been to Dr. Viscardi's office approx 5 times now. Antibiotics...They have taken blood, run all kinds of tests, etc. Still cannot find the problem. I am upset and frustrated that I don't know what is wrong with me, but my disappointment mainly lies with the staff and the feeling that the whole place has given up on me.

For some examples: I needed a refill of a daily prescription. It took a week to get it refilled after 4 calls and 3 faxes from the pharmacy. I went to an ENT doctor last week and took all of the steps to have the records sent over to him before the appointment. I spoke to them today almost a week later after the appointment. They said they will fax the records right now. A hell of a lot of good it will do now. It has taken days to get calls back from the staff, and most times, I would have to call back in a few times to get someone on the phone. I have called twice to get results of a test we did 2 1/2 weeks ago- no news there. No news on what to try next or referrals on what doctor I should try next. No nothing.

Sure, when you have something that can be fixed by one visit, the staff is all smiles and wonderful. Just hope that you don't have to have a real problem. And Dr. Viscardi has been helpful in the past, but I think I am going to have to move on. It is horrible to have to pick up and start over with a completely different doctor, but this one has given up and will not recommend any other options. I can't with a clear conscience recommend this doctor any more. And maybe the staff had a lot to do with it.

Awesome Staff

by Jay S.

All the staff at Buda Family Practice are really GREAT. All the nurses are always very helpful, pleasant, and caring. They are always smiling and seem to be in a GREAT upbeat mood every time I visit. I would HIGHLY recommend Buda Family Practice to anyone who is looking for a new doctor. They use to draw my blood in the office, but now I get sent across the street. This is very inconvenient for me, but other than that I love the treatment i get there.

New Doctor in Town

by Janice S.

I'll name names... Marjorie Viscardi is not only a good physician, she is caring and gets to know her patients beyond the information in the file. In my mind you must have a close relationship with your family doctor in order to help you understand the process of your treatment, feel better about yourself in general, and know that your overall well-being ... body, spirit, and soul ... go into bringing you back to good health. Dr. V. does this... she takes as long as she needs to be sure everything is covered and not rushed. Her patients know this, appreciate it, and I for one never feel disrespected if I have to wait because I know she will give me the same time and consideration. Have to say... she shows this commitment to her patients even though she has a large family and her dedication takes her away from them. A huge sacrifice for any parent. She has the same attributes, akin to someone like Sarah Palin, that make me loyal. I followed her to different firms over 5 years and it's worth the drive even though she has moved further and further away. I'm happy knowing she has found a good fit in associating herself with this capable group of professionals. Best wishes Dr. V!

Some Thoughts

by scott s.

As far as the doctors go I do like the fact that the doctor never makes you feel rushed. He takes his time with you and shows genuine concern for your health.
The administration process could use improvement though. First off when you telephone the office you never get a live person. You receive an automated system which transfers you to voice mails. Sometimes you get called back, other times you don't. In this day and age you seem to always get automated systems but when it comes to doctors I feel you should be able to call and reach a live person. Buda family practice also needs a web site. I can't seem to find one. Would be nice to be able to send an email.
