The facility is woefully dated, there is seldom enough parking available, the staff do not seem to well trained in customer service skills and are somewhat indifferent to the needs of patrons.

The message is clearly, "we have what we have, if you don't like it or need something extra...go somewhere else." We noticed the hours were not posted on the doors and mentioned it to an attendant. Two years later...guess what? The hours are still not posted on the doors. The current desk attendant thought it was a good idea to post hours, but she explained that it wasn't really her "area." We also suggested small towels be available at the front desk for patron use...lasted about a week and then the towels vanished.

Staff is careless in keeping the facilities clean and organized and it can look like chaos if you take a peek into the office area...or even into the locker/shower rooms. Nets are duct taped together, balls are underinflated , the infact area has that odd smell of disinfectant masking some other ominous odor. The upstairs exercise room is just creepy!

If you don't mind the unkempt feel, you will love the Waxie Y. Too bad there is not a more enthusiastic, engaged and active management staff because this could be a really great small Y experience. As it is...it's just the only full service facility in town, so the monopoly reigns.

The Waxahachie YMCA is a nice facility and centrally located for the southern area of Dallas. They have a super sports program for young kids and really emphasize wellness, activity, and sportsmanship over winning. Parental support and participation is encouraged and kids are taught sports skills and sportsmanship. Their facility isn't state of the art like many health clubs, but they offer great services at a price that families can afford.
