There are three of these local yoga studios in North Dallas. This particular location is very conveniently located in an upscale strip shopping center. The prices are excellent! You can try out the studio without investing alot of money. They have a kids class on the weekend which is very popular.
I'm a beginner with some physical limitations (neck and back issues) and I feel totally comfortable here. Sunstone Yoga tell everyone at the beginning of the class to go at our own pace, listen to our bodies, etc, which makes me feel good and establishes the non-competitive atmosphere. I highly recommend ""Sunstone Yoga"" which is all guided relaxation, breathing, and slow stretching - I feel so relaxed afterwards!\r
A beautiful atmosphere! And flexible agenda is the best! All the teachers are wonderful. A really nice community of students.
This studio has the best teachers in Dallas. There is a real feeling of a community here. They offer the most extensive Yoga program in town. Super like!\r
Great place! Emphasizes on correct alignment of all parts of the body within each yoga posture. Great ambience and professional instructors!!!
Great studio to practice yoga. I love the relaxed atmosphere, the friendly staff and the knowledgeable teachers.
Sun Stone Yoga offers the body to Spirit and invites to be the guide. The essential mystical truth is realized, Spirit dwells within us. Sun Ston Yoga approach recognizes that the essence of meditation is a state of inner absorption that can occur in wither the flow of movements or moments of physical stillness.
We have no illusions of being a replacement for live classes with live teachers. Yoga teaching is, to a large degree, a hands-on process. A gentle guiding touch can definitely help you fine-tune your practice. And Sun Stone Yoga are recommends it -if you can find a competent teacher nearby. If you are a yoga teacher, our goal is to make it easy for real people to discover real yoga, and to find real teachers.
I am one of their satisfied customer. I definitely agreed with catherinenbrooks, in fact this put them ahead of their competitors.
Great amenities, well-informed and welcoming coach, distinct program, and very suitable agenda. It is worth spending time
I decided to return to yoga after long hiatus which includes my dabbling in pilates, hip hop and belly dancing. At first, I did yoga in the same studio as my other classes then a friend mentioned Sunstone yoga's introductory program. \r
Initially, I didn't know what to think about SY since I was more used to the free-style yoga classes where you never know what comes next. I wasn't sure that following a fixed routine would be mentally challenging enough. \r
However, it soon became apparent to me that the sequence of poses were carefully designed such that each pose is followed by an opposing pose (where you stretch one set of muscles and then the opposing muscles -- I'm sure there is a technical term for this). Then once I remember the sequence of poses, I was able to focus more on my breathing and my balance instead of trying to anticipate what the next pose is going to be. As a result, I am much more relaxed after each class. And the repetition also helps me to better gauge my progress. Yet, there are enough variety (different types of classes) to keep me engaged.\r
And I was pleased that SY uses efficient energy and provide filter water for people like me (who don't want to increase landfill with plastic bottles) although I wish I could figure out if they also use eco-friendly detergent and cleaning supplies.\r
In any case, I highly recommend trying out Sunstone yoga and find out if it is the right practice for you.
I have been practicing at Sunstone Yoga for about 4 months. When I first started, I had never done any kind of organized exercise program or any type of yoga. Luckily I found Sunstone Yoga's website and decided to try the 10 days for $10.00. As it turns out, this has been the best $10.00 I have ever spent in my life. I tried yoga because I love to scuba dive and I thought it would help me with my breathing: learning to control my breath would mean more time underwater. Everything has turned out so much better than I ever expected.\r
First, every single instructor has just been absolutely wonderful. Second, and most unexpected, is the amount of weight I have lost without even changing my diet. When I started I weighed 198lbs. 60 classes later I weigh 173lbs. That's 25lbs - what a nice surprise. I would encourage anyone who is thinking of trying Sunstone Yoga to go ahead and do it, because you never know; it could also be your best $10.00 investment ever. I have never felt so good about everything and had so much energy during the day.\r
I would like to thank all of the instructors for the great job they do by making it a very enjoyable place to practice. You have all made a very big difference in my life. Good luck to all who try.\r
I went from about 210 lbs to 190 lbs, where I've stayed for the past two years. \r
I had worked out with weights for 20 yrs and was kind of burned out on the whole thing. I had previously done Iyengar Yoga for about 2 years and while it offered all of the great benefits of yoga, it didn't offer the same kind of workout benefits that I would like to experience.\r
Once I started going to Sunstone, it became apparent really quickly that at Sunstone, you got the best of both worlds - the mental and personal benefits and challenges that regular yoga offers along with an incredible physical workout. Once I started going to Sunstone, I replaced all of my other exercise routines with my Sunstone practice.\r
I've also found that Sunstone offers a great amount of instruction and practice on the ""yoga-side"" of things, which I like. You just have to try out different classes and teachers to find out about it. It?s not just about sweating.\r
Another great benefit is since I started going to Sunstone, I went from about 210 lbs to 190 lbs, where I've stayed for the past two years. Overall, I think I'm in the best shape I've ever been in and I know it's because of Sunstone.\r
Pros: Fantastic place
I am a hot yoga lover and was ready to try Sunstone after all the glowing reviews. I planned to try all the studios so I wouldn't miss anything but could only stand it three times even with the ten classes for ten dollars offer. It is definitely hot. I guess they do what they can about the smell but I have been to other hot studios that aren't that malodorous. It is better than the Bikram studio on that front at least. The worst part is the lousy instruction. I need a good visual and the instructors were essentially beginners in terms of performing the poses. At one studio, the teacher routinely left out part of the sun salutation. She also constantly referred to, what I assumed to be a ""cheat sheet"" throughout the class. This was their ""metal"" class which is supposed to be their most difficult. This instructor struggled with the poses more than most of the students. And the class itself was less than challenging. As all the instructors performed the entire class with the students, there were no student adjustments or any individualized instruction - and, people needed it. There was little or no emphasis on breath, no variations given to advance (or modify) poses, no mention of gaze, bandas, or any other core yoga principles. In short, lots of heat, not much yoga.
Pros: It's hot.
Cons: Yoga instruction is poor - and they don't do enough to control smell.
Great facilities, knowlegable and friendly instructors, well-defined classes, and very convenient schedules. Further more, free mat, free towels, free tea if you like some, and free seminars and workshops once in a while. I strongly recomment SUNSTONE Yoga studios to everyone!!
It is a great atmosphere and clean studio. Every time I walk in, every instructor always knows my name and makes me even more excited to be there and get ready for my yoga practice. There is a wonderful variety of classes that challenge not only my body by using strength, but also for my mind, by helping me to de-stress and focus on myself. It has been unlike any other work out I've done and has helped compliment every fitness challenge I take on. My endurance is better and so is my strength. Every instructor has something new to teach and is highly qualified and motivating!
Pros: Great value for all they offer!
Awesome Yoga studio. Quality staff and instruction. I've never found a gym that can compare to this experience. If you are not looking to bulk up, this is the best workout you could ever be a part of. It has helped me loose body fat and replace it with lean functional muscle. I thought Yoga was all about streching and being flexible, but through this studo, I have come to realize it is about strength and flexibility and bringing my body back into balance. If you want the best fitness experience of your life come check it out... you'll be glad you did. They even have a 10 days for $10 to try it out. I never thought I'd be good at yoga, but now I see I feel good because of Sunstone Yoga.
Pros: Instruction, Variety, free Mats/Towels, beginner friendly, huge supportive community
Cons: Everyone cares about you, instead of wanting you to quit like at the gyms
Sunstone has a great variety of class styles to build strength, flexibility and slim your body down - whatever your fitness goal. The instructors and fellow students are always friendly. The yoga room and changing rooms are clean. The mats and towels provided are nice because I don't have to worry about bringing anything with me. Give the $10 special intro a shot and check out any location you are close to.
Pros: free mat and towel service
I go to all of the Sunstone studios and I love this location. Sunstone has helped me with my health and happiness! Everyone at the studio is super nice and they are always smiling (hence the happiness line in my review). As soon as you walk into any of the studios you feel right at home. The space is clean, bright and full of well-trained instructors. The classes rock and since they offer different styles there is something there for everyone. \r
My recommendation: GO TO SUNSTONE!!! Everyone deserves a place to be healthy and happy.\r
Pros: Great location, awesome space, amazing classes and instructors
Cons: That I can't visit this location more...
The first time I went to Sunstone, I didn't know what to expect. I had never done yoga and wanted to try something new. With the $10 for 10 days offer, you can't go wrong!! The classes were great and I have learned so much. The instructors made learning the postures so easy. It didn't matter that I had never done yoga before, I feel great and have a new lease on life! If you ever wanted to try something different, Sunstone Yoga is the way to go!
Pros: Great place to learn yoga
Cons: need more studios
When I walked into Sunstone I immediately felt the stress roll off my shoulders. The classes they provide are designed for every level, when I did my first class I was so nervous I was very concerned about how my performance would be rated, I was worried about them trying to change my religion, I was worried about my excess weight, and thought I would be surrounded by thin vegetarians that passed too much gas. Finally I just got over it and after months of procrastinating walked into the studio and just gave it a whirl. It was the best $10 I ever spent, the first class hard, it was hot and I was ?out of shape?. The instructor was great, she was very supportive and encouraging, and said some things that made feel at ease she said ?forget the person beside you, you are here today for yourself and no one else, be happy you made the effort to walk into the room today?, and she was right, I got over my fears and just turned up. \r
The class had approx 25 people in it, I felt O.K body wise there were people in there that were all shapes and sizes, and I was pleased to see people like me in their first class just trying to do what the teacher was directing me to do. I couldn?t do everything perfect but by end of the 10 days I could see a huge improvement from the first day. I even lost some weight! I did what the teacher said , she said just keep coming back each day and see what happens. I am still a beginner student and I try to get in to class 4 times a week. I love the heat and I am loving how I feel. \r
Pros: Friendly Staff, free towels
Cons: Not in New York yet
The room is so quiet you can hear your sweat fall on the towel below you, so you can really access the deep meditative benefits of yoga in this studio. The same professional, friendly, and knowledgable teachers work at all the Sunstone yoga studios; the way they provide mats, towels and showers make it really easy for a busy person to squeeze that 90 minutes of personal time into their day.
Pros: parking, location, class schedule, free mats and towels, great classes
Cons: Midnight water class only once a year
I really enjoy Sunstone Yoga. I go to this location a lot. Now the Whole Foods moved across the street there is even more parking.
Pros: Consistent and friendly classes
