Anjali Center-Performing Arts

As I have just moved to Houston from Chennai, it was refreshing to see that the authentic form of Indian Dances have been nurtured and cultivated at the Anjali Center for Indian Dances. My extensive search for a good dance school for my young daughters led me to a lot of dance teachers focussed on imitating the latest Bollywood, Mollywood and Tollywood dances and steps. Pah!

If you have a genuine devotion to the Indian classical dances - Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam, then this is the place to learn it. The teachers there are very devoted and committed to the dance form. Mrs. Rathna Kumar has spent the last 30 years dedicated to this dance school and the accolades she has are a testimony to that.

Anjali dance school started by Ms.Ratna Kumar is the oldest Indian dance school in Houston. They teach Bharatnatyam and other Indian dance forms. I won't rate the school highly. It is past its glory years. These days with better Indian dance teachers and schools in Houston Anjali School is a disappointment. The quality of pure classical dance is less and the commitment of the teachers and the owner is less. There are better places to learn dance in Houston.
