This restaurant is great. Best Italian food I've had in a long time. This not the old Portabella's, it much better. New owner, Maurizo is one of the things that makes it so special. Makes all of his customers feel like they are special. The sauces are made from fresh tomatoes and imported ingredients. You can tell. And finally, a place where I can get a good bottle of wine without having to feel like I'm getting ripped off. Lunch for 6.99-7.99 is a ridiculous value. I go a couple times a week. Where can you get great Italian food 7.99. BUT DINNER IS WHERE ITS AT. Only negative is the bar could be bigger.

It looks like the old reviews are for the old restaurant at this location!

The place changed early in 2010. Its a new menu, new owners, new ambiance. We visited portobello once in 11 years.

We now visit Maurizio's AT LEAST once per week. The lunch specials are unique and excellent. The dinner menu is so deep in good food that we dont need to repeat. Try the Filet or Spiedini if you want meat.

I'm not sure why old reviews for Cafe Portobello are still showing up, but this restaurant is under new ownership. Was so happy to have a family-owned business open in the heart of Coppell. New menu (with phenomenal wood-fired pizza),

Maurizio opened this place in February 2010. He and his wife Deena redecorated and brought in a new menu.

We have been MANY times. We have tried most of the entrees and desserts. All is good.

At lunch they serve special sandwiches that are not on the dinner menu. Its worth going both times just to enjoy the variety.

I have taken several friends, they all go back on their own as well.

Pros: Any entree or the pizza

Cons: road construction during June 2010

Cafe Portoballo is great for a nice business lunch. Not overcrowded considering it is in an area that gets crowded easily during lunch. Lunch prices are reasonable, so order whatever you want. If you like mushrooms, then get the Chicken Murphy.

They have good food, but the server or owner was being dishonest and "cheap". First of all, they served overnight bread since we were the first customer there, which was stone hard bread. They didn't give us the fresh bread until the 2nd round when the old bread was all gone. Then when we used a $5 off coupon, the server pretended it was a 5% coupon, and took only $2 off. Come on! Which restaurant on earth would issue 5% off coupon?!?! Then, the menu said 18% tip added to party of 6 or more, we only had 4 people and the check came with tip added in already, plus it was calculated post tax total. No wonder why they have less and less business everytime I went!!!! Terrible work ethic!!!

When we lived in Coppell, my wife and I would frequent Cafe Portobello. Simply put, it is excellent italian food in a quaint, neighborhood setting. The ceasar salads are large and flavorful. The Veal Portobello is perfectly executed and is sublime - I can't recommend it enough. Over the years, we've had just about everything on the menu, and nothing has disappointed. It is so refreshing to find a high-quality, elegant italian place with a neighborhood feel. Though a little pricey, it is worth every penny. My wife and I have dinner there whenever we are back in Dallas.

I loved this reatuarant when it had a liquor license. The service was amazing. The waiter would greet you at the door like you were family and he would seat you take your order and help you pick out a wine to compliment your food. Now there's no wine and the food is great but most of the waiters are gone and the new ones are not as great. Food is still very good and the price is very reaonable

PROS: food is great
CONS: servicie is not as good
