Auto Shop is AWESOME!
by Andrea B.
I am so excited - they finally fixed a nagging problem! My car had a unique issue that was indicative of a single year model. We discussed the issue and they originally thought it was a switch, so I finally let them repair the switch. I was two blocks away when the problem resurfaced. I called and they bring it back when you get a chance and we'll look at it again. I brought it back, we discussed the issue and they decided to forego the "list" and replace the part I thought was the issue. Not only does it work beautifully, they completely credited me for the original repair since it did not fix the problem. I am ecstatic that they listened to my input, fix the problem, completed routine maintenance, and were more than fair on the refund and price. It's nice to have a place I can trust to take my car for repair!

We took our 2003 Honda Odyssey here after the dealer said it would cost almost $7k to replace the transmission and fix cracked engine mounts. The Auto Shop said they would do it for about $4500. But the best part was when one of the mechanics working there suggested that I contact American Honda instead of having the work done at The Auto Shop. He had worked at a Honda dealer before and knew that they sometimes absorb some costs for transmission problems. I did, and believe it or not, within a couple of days, Honda authorized the dealer to fix my transmission for $1700.
The Auto Shop only charged about $50 (1/2 of the diagnosis fee) for this. They offered this discount because I already knew the problem and I had paid the Honda dealer for the diagnosis before.
The Honda dealer did not say anything about this option of contacting American Honda. Because of The Auto Shop, I saved almost $3k.
So, my experience here is very positive, but I am concerned about some of the other complaints posted here. I guess it pays to be cautious with any business these days. I would take my car back here for service, and would recommend them to others.

Trying to Overcharge
by Josh R.
I brought my car to the auto shop in east plano to have the speed sensor replaced. After taking 6.5 hours to diagnose I was told that the speed sensors needs replaced (and charged me $100). They quoted me a price of $300 for the sensor. The same sensor from the dealer costs $180 and can be found online for $50. Total repair quote of $530. I took the car to another repair shop and had the same repair done for $250 with free diagnosis.

What a Relief!
by Anonymous
I just wanted to let you know that my car died on me last night at Hobby Lobby and this morning I called to talk to Jerry at the shop to get some help and Rick at the Coit location said Jerry works at the other office but he'd be happy to help me out.
Anyway, can you pass along my compliments to Jerry for Rick being so wonderful and taking away all my stress and worry about how to deal with something like this. He handled getting a tow truck for me and in a few hours gave me the diagnosis and what needs to be done. (My husband is gone today and I've luckily never had to deal with car issues without him.)
So please pass along my thanks to Jerry for me and let him know I was so relieved to know I was in good hands and had the confidence that my car is going to be fixed by great people.
Thank you,
Brittany

Best Repairs Ever!
by Anonymous
I took my truck to the local dealership and was quoted $2,600.00 to repair the transmission and was told that it would take them at least a week.
I then took it to The Auto Shop to get a second opinion. Their courtesy driver even took me home while a mechanic looked at my truck. I could hardly believe it when they called me to say that the repairs were completed and that the bill was LESS than $100.00!
That was several months ago. I have waited to post this just to make sure that it was really fixed.
The Auto Shop has a customer for life!

Please dont go there!

I am a college student on a fixed budget. I drive a fairly new car (2003). For the first time about two weeks ago my service engine soon light came on, I have never had a problem with it before so I was extremely worried. I decided to take it to the Auto Shop since it was right down the street. They said the problem was a fuel pump which I was fine with and paid for. Four days after picking my car up the light went off again. I was upset since I had just paid them almost $700.00. I took it back and they said they would look at it, I refused to pay anymore money since I only had my car for four days and the light came back on. They didn't charge me to look at it and they said nothing was wrong with it. I picked it up again and I KID YOU NOT, I did NOT even get a block away and the light came back on and my car started over-heating. I took it back like I hadn't learned my lesson and they threw on a bunch of parts they said I needed. I picked it up about 3-4 days later. After picking it up the third time my car started over-heating again!!! The same problem it was having before I paid them 663.00 more dollars. I took it back...they kept it for a day and say they didn't know what the problem was but thought it might be my head gasket or engine. OK NO!! I take very good care of my car there is NO WAY it could be my engine. I also asked around and searched on the Internet for signs of a blown head gasket and I have had NO SIGNS. I DEMANDED to pick my car up again to take it someone else. Please EVERYONE...DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THESE PEOPLE. I have a new friend that had the same experience. I will never go back!

More expensive than dealer
by Rick R.
It been many years ago - but when I took my car in, the estimate they gave seemed high. So I took it to the dealer, who fixed it for 30% less. The Auto Shop charged me more for the estimate than they told me. Had to get BBB to encourage them to drop the extra charge.
PROS: Nice facilities
CONS: Charges more than dealer. Difficult dispute resolution.

They damage more than they repair
by David S.
I had them replace a radiator and they left my transmission low on oil, my air conditioner out of freon, misdiagnosed a noisy belt, and the radiator they installed was damaged and leaking. When returned, they disowned the other problems and said the leak was a result of the radiator cap. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and bought their rplacement. It still leaked from the damaged upper seat and a pressure test of the system revealed the lower seat also leaked. In summary, they can't diagnose, can't repair, and break other things. Stay far away!
PROS: Close to work.
CONS: Incorrect diagnosis, defective repair, collateral damage.

My power steering blew out while I was driving from Baltimore to Plano. I didn't know what was wrong with the power steering, I just knew that it was broken since the wheel was impossible to turn. I drove it to Auto Shop the next morning, told them my power steering was out, and I picked up my car in the afternoon. They explained to me exactly what was wrong. Some kind of belt or ring just snapped off.

not a bad auto shop
by sagar n.
I went in there to some work done on my brakes. I was attended to quickly. My wait wasn't too bad (about 3 1/2 hours) and the guy ran through with me some things more that he thought needed to be done. I thought that they were just saying all this to get money out of me. They did a great job as my brakes are not making noise anywhere and I know I'm safe.

We used to go there a lot thinking that an AAA recommended shop wouldn't be bad. We trusted them over and over again until we found something fishy with their repairs. So they don't open on the weekend because they want their employees to spend time with their families, which is a great concept, there is nothing wrong with that. So they took my car in, after I just had my car maintenance done at the dealership, The Auto Shop told me that I needed new brakes, but the dealership didn't tell me anything like that at all. Of course I was skeptical, I took my car to another shop in Richardson, and there was nothing wrong with my brakes or brake pads, I felt that The Auto Shop wanted to take my money, so they just made up stuff wanting me to pay. I wasn't sure if they really repaired my car each time I took my car there because I didn't feel like my car was repaired. A friend of mine had the same experience, I'm not going back.
