I worked for Bonnett back in 2003 and bought my Great Pyrenees while I was there. Overall it is a good store.
When you buy a dog, you sign an agreement. The employees read all the terms of the agreement to you when you buy it. There are no secrets.
There is not a "required vet," only the "free vet." The choice is yours, just get the pup looked at within the timeframe they tell you.
All the dogs sold there come from local breeders and donors and at a much better price than I've ever seen since.
The store does not keep records of where the pupppies come from, but they're all local, all brought in by the breeders themselves. They do not, have not, and will never use puppy mills.
Regarding the manager Nancy... she does not take crap from people. Mr. Bonnett himself encourages employees to exercise the right to refuse service to anyone who is rude. Rude people never had a good experience in the year I worked there. Plenty of nice people did.
There are three types of puppies: AKC, unregistered, and mix. Know what you're buying: AKC means "papers," unregistered means "no papers." A mix is a mix, that includes "Labradoodles" and other rediculous mixes.
They do not pay $85 per dog. The price they offer depends on breed and registration as well as the overall look of the litter. The prices are given out beforehand on the phone. They do not pay for mixes, even if they have a preferred name like "Labradoodle." Dogs are not worth very much if they are not a full blooded AKC recognized specimen of a breed. Two full blooded AKC parents equals a mix. They will not pay you money for it.

We decided to get a small pet and after researching the idea on the Internet, we decided to get a guinea pig. Bonnett was very helpful in answering our questions. I think I must have called them 5 or 6 times asking question and they were very helpful to us. Therefore, when we bought our guinea pig we went to Bonnet. They guided us in what we needed; even told us we didn't need the large cage we had picked out, but could use a smaller, less expensive one. The only thing negative I have to say, and it might not be negative to everyone, was our guinea pig was pregnant when we bought her, so we'll soon be dealing with pups; but Bonnett said they'd take them from us. We didn't ask them to pay us anything for them, just wanted a home for them. We're hoping Bonnett will trade us some food for the pups; whenever they are born and old enough to take them to Bonnett.

You people are crazy who think that the puppies in a pet shop are from abusive puppy mills. In my opinion the puppies you get from a shelter are the ones who have been abused because they are in fact in a shelter where NOONE wanted them or they were picked up off the streets by someone who cared enough to pick them up but not enough to give them a descent home. I do breed dogs and have for many years. I have had good and bad experiences with Bonnet, but to think that I do this for a living to make money, I barely make enough to pay dog food bills much less vet bills. My dogs get their shots, wormings, and tick treatments. They get sick occasionally and I take them to the vet. I know there are bad places Ive seen it on TV but not everyone who breeds dogs is a monster and not all pups sold in pet shops come from abusive homes.

I have sold my puppies to Bonnet pet center a couple of times and I know several people who have done the same. I LOVE my dogs and do not torture my dogs by any means! I think it is absolutely absurd that some people truly believe that their dogs come from "puppy mills"! Most of the local breeders breed their dogs for a little extra money. I personally breed mine every other heat and then get her fixed before it takes a toll on her. Bonnet is the only store in town that will take pit bull puppies which I commend them for. Otherwise these puppies that are highly demanded would be running the streets or put down in the pound (they WILL NOT put pits up for adoption! Automatic d.e.a.d.) I have never received more than $25 per puppy...that alone should let you know there is no puppy mills! Who would go through the trouble for $25!?!?! We, as local breeders attempt to sell our pups through the paper and around town. Once we get down to the last few that we just can't sell, we take them to the mall. Bonnet helps get these pups into homes and that is a good thing! I will say that some of the people that work there are a bit rude, they could use some education on breeds and markings, and sell them for a bit too much considering what they are paying for them, but ultimately...they are doing a good thing!

I went to the Bonnet Pet Center last week and bought an 8 week old miniature pincher/chihuahua. She is amazing. She had diarrhea the first time she pooped but we went to the vet and they gave us some medication for it. They told us she was a healthy puppy and she is so playful. I really love her and I thank the Bonnet Pet Center for that. I was sceptical about buying a puppy at a pet store but it turned out great and she is already becoming potty trained!

Our family purchased a 7 week old male bloodhound on Saturday, November 15....the very next morning the puppy began being lethargic and stumbling around. I took the puppy to Bonnett's "required veterinarian" the following Monday (in order for its health to be warrantied) and was told (the 1st time) that the puppy was probably hypoglycemic and to feed him frequent meals throughout the day. That evening the puppy began having seizures. Again, I took him to the "required vet" and was told then that I could take the dog back to Bonnett and they would give me another one. Being the dog lovers we are, we chose to see if the puppy could 'shake it off' due to the vet's unconcern that it was a 'real' problem.
The same day I took the puppy to another vet, not affiliated with Bonnett Pet Center and after one look at the puppy, the doctor said there is no way he has hypoglycemia. They drew blood and determined that the puppy had Ehrlichiosis. This is a disease primarily transmitted through the brown dog tick. It is the vet's assumption that this was transmitted through the mother or the puppy had a tick (or ticks) on its body during it's time prior to being in our possession. I contacted the Bonnett Pet Store and spoke with Nancy the MANAGER on 2 occasions. Neither time was Nancy understanding or helpful in this situation. In our last conversation I requested she let the breeder know that this was a problem that needed attention. She stated that my vet should have called her to inform her of the puppies illness, not me. She told me that she didn't know where they (the pet store) get the dogs and then further accused me of lying about the circumstance of another puppy from the same litter that had became ill. While visiting our vet we met a gentleman that had purchased a puppy on the same day we did and from the same litter. The store manager told me that I was the only one that bought a dog that day. Hardly. We were in the store at approx. 10AM that Saturday morning. At that time there were 3 bloodhound puppies. When we returned at 3:15PM to purchase our puppy he was the only one remaining.
I will not purchase another animal from Bonnett Pet Store based on the moral of the store manager and her unconcern of selling sick puppies not to mention her disinterest in contacting a breeder to advise them of a problem with the puppies or puppy. I would hope that the store manager took it upon herself to contact the breeder and advise them of the serious illness these puppies (and owners) are enduring. I feel like Bonnett should be held responsible for the expenses incurred to care for the puppy, be willing to accept that responsibility and to inform the breeder of this illness. The store Manager's work ethic is unacceptable and unprofessional.
RECOMMENDATION: Do not buy animals from a pet store. By them from a breeder yourself. You can find them in the newspaper and/or online.

I work for Bonnet pet center, and I know where our dogs come from. It is absolutely absurd to assume our puppies come from puppy mills without any proof, because every single one of our puppies come in well cared for from local breeders. They are all in good health when we bring them in--that is why they come with a free vet visit. Our prices can get a little high, but we are generally cheaper than any other pet store that sells dogs. We take good care of our animals, and if you believe otherwise, you are a fool.

They have a very rude and bad attitude. They also have someone who does not know their breeds of dogs. I took in a few puppies that are a jack russell and rat terrier mix. I have the parents and the grandparents of these puppies. They were convinced i was trying to sell them a labrador, blue heeler mix. First of all concerning the size of these puppies you could tell they were not. Also the colors were very evident that they are a mix. With a very sorry attitude they turned us down and acted as if we did not know what kind of breeds we had. I reccomend breed education for the managers or those in charge.

4 of THE MOST WONDERFUL PUPPIES. THEY HAVE A WONDERFUL SELECTION AND GREAT PRICES. I LIKE HOW THEY ARE UPFRONT ABOUT BUYING FROM LOCAL BREEDERS ( LOOK AT SOME OF THE CRAZY $1000.00 SOME OF THE OTHER STORES HAVE) THEY HAVE THERE WARRANTY AND THE PRICES POSTED SO THEY ARE NOT HIDING ANYTHING. HOW MUCH DO VETS COST AND THEY GIVE A FREE CHECK UP WITH ALL THE ANIMALS.

The runt of the litter is pretty much what your going to get. Of course it's hard not to purchase that cute puppy, but they do come from puppy mills. Meaning the owners breed for money. The health of the dog and that breeds standard along with the puppy is put to the side. Bonnett pays $85.00 per puppy then sells for whatever, but the breeder/abuser is only getting paid 85 bucks at the most. with or without "papers". These are usually puppies that for whatever reason could not get or be sold. Please get your next loving pet from the animal shelter.

Bonnett Pet Center is just another supporter of Puppy Mills. The "cute little puppies" in the cages come from a abused mother who is forced to have litter after litter of puppies before the kill her. These dogs that produce puppies one litter after the next are severly abused and neglected. Please do not support this type of "business" and go to the pound and save a dogs life. Their are many dogs at the pound just wating for you to save them. Only half of the dogs bred at puppy mills even make it to the pet store; the other half die from the mills squalid conditions, hypothermia, starvation, or other horrors of transport.

Bonnett Pet Center is just like any other mall pet store. It is there for small children to gawk at and for young couple to make those great impulsive decisions to buy a new dog or cat. Don't get me wrong, they do have a great selection of animals at fair prices, well pretty much. I don't think that seventy nine dollars for a kitten is decent, but oh well.
