Polka Dot Pony is my favorite consignment store in Austin hands down. I don't know how anyone could say anything in there is over priced. everything is fair priced. I got a pair of Abercrombie and Fitch jeans for $17. do you have ANY idea how much they would have cost new? try around 100 minimum. every thing in the store is looked over by the owner her self. she only takes quality items. the selection is huge as well.
no one is ever going to like every single thing in a store no matter what store it is. so if you find one or two or even 20 things you don't like, doesn't mean anything. a store has to try their best to suit all of the consignors tastes.
i would for sure recommend polka dot pony to all of my friends and family. in fact i already have. and any one who reads this, i recommend polka dot pony, especially if you have young children, and if you want reasonably priced children's/ juniors clothing.
if you are looking to consign however, make sure you follow the guidelines that you can pick up at the store. be respectful, don't bring in a huge trash bag full of clothes that have been sitting in your garage for the past 6 years. look over everything you bring in, make sure its the right season, make sure there aren't any stains, make sure its clean, make sure its a size that is taken at the store, and make sure that it isn't something from the early 90's that your now 18 year old wore the heck out of.
if you follow the simple guidelines then i promise you you will be more that happy with the results. the guidelines are set so your clothing is more likely to be sold. not because the people who work there are horrible mean people. in fact i have never had a single complaint about any of the employees. they are all willing to help, and they are all very nice people. if you go to the mall and go to any of the "hot stores" i promise there will be at least one employee there who is in an awful mood and doesn't want to help you. (no offence to any one, everyone is entitled to an off day.)
all in all, if you go in with an open mind and good attitude, you wont be disappointed with Polka Dot Pony.

I'm a sucker for name brands, so I frequent all the consignment stores in my area (Northwest Austin). I would say this one is my least favorite because the prices are way higher than the others. They do have some name brands, but the selection is not that great, and for the price, the condition isn't always up to par. There are at least 4 other consignment stores, all within a 5-10 min. drive, that have much better prices for the same stuff (they also seem cleaner). I would recommend checking out the other ones in the area. However, I have purchased things from this store, and the staff is friendly. I do go back on a regular basis because you never know when something good will pop up!!

Polka Dot Pony is a fantastic place! i love everything about it. the playarea is nice, they have a huge selectin of childrens clothing and jrs clothing, the staff is always willing to help and is super friendly. The owner is fantasict to, she started the store almost 13 years ago and has been able to keep it going strong. I love this store and i shop there all the time and so do all my friends. also anything that doesnt sell is taken to tx childrens baptist home, which is a very good cause to donate to!! You should check it out, its a great place.

I love this store as a consignor and a buyer. I feel they price the name brand items at prices that are good for the buyer and the seller. I hated taking my expensive clothing to other stores and getting very little for them. Now I consign them here and save my $ as store credit. It is close to my house and I stop in frequently to look. Sometimes I find tons of stuff and other times I find nothing but that is the nature of all consignment stores. The owner of the store is super nice and she knows my "taste". She will point me to things I might like and she is very helpful. The cons are that the store can get crowded and they never have sales. Also, baby clothing doesn't sell well here and they usually have very few items for little boys over size 3T. But one great thing I like is that you can choose to have all of the clothing that doesn't sell donated to the Texas Baptist Children's Home. And the items that are "over-priced" are always designer and boutique clothing which is actually a steal at the "over-priced" consignment store price. The clothing you get a Target, Walmart, and discount stores is always super cheap. They rent ski suits and they have tons of toys. Plus they have the older teen sizes.
PROS: Great finds and great staff
CONS: limited boys clothing selection and no sales

This store offers cute children clothing at affordable prices. They have convenient hours, but their store is hard to see from the road so it may not get noticed much. The staff were friendly and did not bother me while I shopped. I found a couple of cute like new items and also found some items with stains and fading, but the prices seemed to be adjusted for these problems. There were some items that I found priced higher than they should be for used items, but then there were other items that were priced more to my liking. Store was clean and set up conveniently.

My wife gets many of the clothes for our kids at this store. She always comes home with the nicest clothes which makes the kids happy and the prices make me happy.

There isn't much different about Polka Dot Pony compared to other children's consignment shops. There were a lot of clothes hung up by size, all around the store. There was the usual child's play area. There was an area for infant items, cribs, strollers, etc... and there was an area for teen/junior sizes.
The prices on items were reasonable, although the condition of some of the outfits I saw was questionable... pilled or faded. I didn't see anything that I felt I must purchase for my daughter, but feel that another visit is warrented to insure that my timing was just poor.
The location is off Anderson Mill Road, but off in a corner of the shopping complex. It is easy to miss so look carefully.
PROS: Cheaper than retail
CONS: inspect items carefully prior to purchase

There was certainly a lot to look over while in there. Too much. It was hot and crowded and there were too many fussy kids in the playarea. I walked out frustrated with a headache. The few things I looked at, I liked. Might try again when they have less inventory and it is cooler outside.

I have been here three times, the prices are way to high, and it is very unorganized, All of the sizes are so mixed up, so you have to do alot of searching. Some of the items are more than a retail store new. But if your looking for childrens dancewear and shoes, they have a good used selection.
PROS: Some new with tags items occasionally
CONS: Overpriced I thought,and cluttered

sometimes you find great stuff and other times you leave with nothing. I have been to this shop only twice due to it is far from where I live. The first time I found quite a few cute items at reasonable prices. The second time all I found was junk, a lot of stained and faded clothes and the nice clothing had high prices for a consignment shop. The staff didn't bother me and checked me out quickly.
PROS: Nice selection sometimes
CONS:

Definitely not a place for dirt-cheap kid's clothes but offers nice clothing in good condition. Nicest thing about this place is a little enclosed play area for children to enjoy while parent's shop.Offers ski suit rental.
PROS: Kid's corner
CONS:

I recently visited Polka Dot Pony for the first time and was not impressed. Their prices seemed a little too expensive for used clothing. Like everyone else, their selection of boys' clothing was limited. The store decor wasn't very welcoming and I felt like I was in a bargain basement. The people working there, however, were very nice. I was disappointed that I went home empty-handed.
PROS: Kind staff
CONS: high prices

The staff is not overly helpful and the prices are very high. The store is a bit crowded with a very small play area for the children. I didn't find anything spectacular about this store.
