Your Body Center opened in 2003. Now in a new, spacious, spa-like studio, the extensive menu of classes & massages make for a wonderful experience. A variety of yoga styles, including hot yoga, Vinyasa Flow and Thai yoga, are options. Also available are various forms of massage therapy such as Swedish massage, sports massage, hot stone massage and couple's massage. Our massage therapists offer more unique treatments as well, such as Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy where the feet are used to apply pressure and target relief to certain muscles. At Your Body Center, you can create the fitness routine that fits your goals and objectives. From Pilates to yoga for beginners to advanced, YBC is the place. Salt glows, body treatments and other spa amenities round out the diverse services and endless perks at Your Body Center.
I've been going to YBC for a couple months now and have sampled a few of the various evening classes. Each class/instructor is a little different, but overall, all of the instructors I've experienced have been friendly, helpful, and offer alternative movements so participants of all levels can enjoy the class. Since I have a background in dance (back in the day!), Arielle is my personal favorite instructor. Arielle is a trained dancer, and I personally find it very easy to relate to her, understand her explanations, and apply what she says to better my practice. However, you do NOT need to know anything about dance, Pilates, or yoga to enjoy Arielle's classes. (For example, I had never practiced yoga before YBC, but I do now!) Arielle's upbeat, positive personality combined with her helpful descriptions will allow you to enjoy her classes whether you are a beginner or a veteran. I definitely recommend YBC, and sample different classes and instructors to find the best combination for you. It's a great workout - one I hate to miss!
Pros: Class variety, friendly staff, later evening class times
Cons: None I can think of!

I was very excited when I found Your Body Center online because I have been looking for a studio that offered group pilates classes at an affordable price for several years. I practiced traditional mat pilates with a private instructor in college, and continued at a group class when in law school, offered by the school (taught by an instructor who has since moved on to other things). I have been practicing alone ever sense, but wanted to get re-motivated and remind myself of some of the poses that I have just stopped doing. I am so disappointed. The "power pilates" class at YBC is NOT pilates. It seemed more like a step class. If I wanted to go to a step class, I would have. The instructor also incorporated "downward dog" yoga positions into the routine, which, again, are not pilates. If I had wanted to go to a yoga class, I would have. One of the many reasons that I prefer pilates to yoga is that it does not incorporate such positions, which are impossible for me to do due to a debilitating shoulder injury. The few true traditional pilates movements that were performed were performed so quickly that it defeated the entire purpose. The point of pilates is to do fewer reps more slowly, thus emphasizing form, control, and substance, not willy nilly hurling one's body all over the room at ridiculous rates of speed. In addition, the instructor completely violated my personal space during one of the non-traditional movements by coming over and performing an "adjustment" by full-hands (both of them!) grabbing my bottom and squeezing while also pushing down. I have been adjusted dozens of times over the years, and never once has squeezing my bottom been involved. A simple hand with a light touch is perfectly adequate. Anything more is a complete personal violation (yes, even if it is not done in a sexual manner/with sexual intent, which I am certain this was not), and the only reason I didn't complain at the time is because I was so shocked that I didn't even know what to say. All in all, I will not be back, and I fully regret the $25 dollars and hour of my life that I gave this place.
Pros: Clean facilities
Cons: Aerobics/step masquerading as pilates

Ernesto's ball pilates class is a great workout. He's a fabulous instructor. The class moves quickly and yet Ernesto makes the transitions easy for all levels. His ability to insruct and to make modifications for all levels is amazing. He is tremendous at building confidence and creating an environment that encourages everyone to be their best!
Pros: Ernesto and his staff
Cons: NONE

I have been going to Your Body Center for about three months now, and really enjoy the laid back but professional environment. Ernesto's pilates ball classes are the best! I actually look forward to the workouts!
Pros: The instructors are awesome!
Cons: none

I have taken pilates and hot yoga both about 6 times and I really love the Hot yoga. I love the 2 brother instructors they are really awsome. They give you motivation to finish the classes and they always have a good attitiude.
Pros: The instructors. (2 brothers they are awsome)

If you are looking to get into pilates or yoga, are looking for a place that offers both hot and "room temp" classes, or you are experienced and know quality classes, this is the place!!! I cannot recommend it enough. Great instructors and great environment.
Pros: Staff, instructors, wide variety of classes
Cons: No early morning pilates classes - only hot classes

I've been taking Pilates at a franchise gym for awhile now and have loved it. When it came time to renew the gym membership, I didn't feel it was worth it to pay for what I was not using. I came across Your Body Center and enjoyed my trial week. I have never taken a yoga class but the instructors and classes at YBC make it easy to get on board. I tried Hot Yoga during my trial week and found it to be exactly what I was looking for. The staff is great and the prices are really reasonable. I especially like the hands-on approach of the instructors to help you master the skill/pose.
Pros: GREAT for beginners
Cons: none so far

Since I moved to Houston I tried at least 5 different places trying to find the best pilates class for me. The pilates ball class and the power pilates are just amazing! I love the vibe, the studio, the teacher, just perfect!!!!!

While I am new to Yoga, I thought this place was a good place to start. The instructor was very patient and helpful. I never thought I would get into it and I love it. I live in Oak Forest and its very close to my home.

Pros: great teachers!!!!!!

I am very new to Yoga I have only taken 7 classes so far at Bikram Yoga College of India. I attend class at YBC because it offered so much variety in there classes.
The "Your Hot Body" class was horrible. I could tell a marked difference in Bikram instructors, at YBC the class was very scattered, timing was different for each pose, instructor seemed very inexperienced.
The lady at the front desk did not offer me a tour, ask if it was my first class here or anything. The instructor did not introduce herself. I just had to jump in, thankfully I had class at Bikram so I had an idea on what to do. Because the instructor sure as heck didn't explain a darn thing.
I guess I have been spoiled in one short month with Bikram, they really cater to you. Esp. your first couple of visits, they give you a tour, introduce the entire staff, set your mat in the studio. Just wonderful customer service.
The classes are very structured and motivating. I have read the complaints about Bikram, the smell and the boot camp style instructors. Yes these complaints are valid. I am not a fan of all the instructors, I have my favorites.
HOWEVER, I will tolerate a hot corn chip smelling studio for a good Yoga class rather than a POOR POOR IMITATION of Hot Yoga.
Pros: Very nice clean facilities
Cons: POOR customer service, NO class structure

I've tried hot yoga at numerous studios, including Bikram and sunstone, and hands down, this place ROCKS! The "Your Hot Body" class is a fantastic combination of yoga and pilates moves that works EVERYTHING and melts fat like crazy! The "Hot Hatha" class worked muscles I didn't even know I had and I felt like I had had a full body massage after I was finished. The heat does take some getting used to, but within a couple of classes, you get accustomed to it and really start to feel the benefits. After years of cycling, swimming, running, and weights, I found something that makes me feel better than I did before, not just right after the workout, but for DAYS afterward! And I'm actually building STRENGTH, not just muscle bulk. To top it all off, the instructors are AMAZING. No drill-sergeants here--friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable instruction with modifications at every step along the way. The instructors allow you to go at your own pace and challenge yourself when you're ready, instead of expecting you to do every move or posture exactly right the first time. When a correction is needed, they come to you and gently help you correct yourself instead of calling you out by name and embarrassing you. The instructors really incorporate the mind/body connection into every class, which has helped decrease my stress levels immensely. And the prices are reasonable! For the level of instruction you get, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better deal anywhere (especially with the student/teacher discounts!). I would highly recommend this studio to anyone wishing to get in shape, improve their fitness, or just do something WONDERFUL for their body. Your body will thank you!!!
Pros: Great instruction, awesome facility--room doesn't smell like a dirty men's locker room!
Cons: Wish they had one closer to West Houston.

First of all, let me say that I never considered myself a yoga person, but after doing a trial membership back in June '08, I was hooked! I signed up for a full membership the next week! Not only did I lose inches and tone up, the hot yoga classes really helped me with my sinus and insomnia problems...they're challenging but are also very relaxing! The other studio was great but the new studio is incredible! It's super clean, spacious, and they now have showers! Great location too, it's right off I-10 and Heights (makes it easier to get to). The price is also very reasonable. I signed up on a student package, which gives me a little discount, and as someone who works full time and attends college at night, that discount is very much appreciated! But aside from the amazing new facility and great price (which is cheaper than alot of other yoga studios I've been to), the best feature of the studio is its owner, Ernesto, and its instructors. Everyone there is very warm and welcoming... very approachable, if you have a question or concern, the instructors are more than willing to help. I have been to alot of different yoga studios in Houston, but YBC is by far the best! I couldn't imagine going any where else.
Pros: Great variety of classes, spacious rooms, friendly staff, etc.
Cons: none

Everything about this place rocks. My friend and I discovered and fell in love with this place last September and we can't get enough of it. All of the instructors are really nice and helpful when you're in class, they really try to give everyone some one-on-one attention. Ernesto's pilates classes are so upbeat and fun, it makes the hour go by really fast, and you feel amazing when it's done. The hot yoga classes are also amazing. I'm not a yoga connoisseur, but I feel like the classes have a good combination of really challenging strength and flexibility moves. I highly reccommend this place to anyone - beginner or experienced. You'll feel right at home as soon as you get there and your body will thank you when you leave!

What I love most about Your Body Center is the attention that the instructors provide. You can be in a small or a large class, but the instructors take notice of individuals and help to adjust or correct their movements.
A devotee of Ernesto's Pilates classes, I love the upbeat and positive atmosphere where his happy, chatty personality helps everyone to do their best!
Pros: Instructors, Value for Money, Convenient Class Times
Cons: The parking lot can be considered uneven at best.

I can't get enough of the pilates and the hot yoga. This is coming from a guy that has never done a bit of stretching and/or pilates type exercise...straight weights all the way my entire life. The instructors really help you get into the class and focus on the what you're trying to do. They are very well trained and encouraging, not to mention informative. I love Laura Lopes for the hot yoga..she's great. Ernesto is the same way for the pilates classes, both ball and regular. That's not to take away from the rest of the instructors because they are all very good. I would advise this place to anyone really at any level.
Pros: It's all good

i really enjoy classes i take here. ernesto teaches the yoga classes i take and because of the moderate pace he teaches in, i have gotten much stronger than i did in other, more fast paced classes. i don't take the hot yoga, well i did once, and it was just too hot. but the hatha and ashtanga classes I really enjoy. ernesto listens to feedback from the group and responds to it, which is something i know not all yoga teachers do.
i am happy i found this center!

I went to go to two Ashtanga classes there on a free pass, which is nice. But the teacher who I think was a substitute because it wasn't his name on the schedule, was reading from a list of positions and he didn't do the finishing sequence which I have always been told is very important. He talked a full ten minutes before starting any yoga, and said the same things both classes, which I found annoying. Why couldn't he talk as he taught as most teachers do? He was nice and attentive at what he did teach, but I feel like I need a stronger teacher. I am looking for a better Ashtanga studio, though a friend of mine who goes to that studio regularly told me that they are looking for an Ashtanga teacher there, and if they find one, I'll try it again because the location is so good and the people were nice.
Pros: close to my house, nice people
Cons: no real ashtanga teacher even though the schedule says there is one

I love going to Ernesto's ball pilates class. It has transformed my body shape and I feel so much stronger. Class is lots of fun and the atomosphere is not intimidating. They are very welcoming to newcomers and Ernesto makes sure he accomodates everyone from beginners to advanced people during class so that you get the most out of your workout.
Pros: fun atmosphere, great teacher, great workout
Posted 05/01/08
Yes--there is hot yoga, regular yoga, pilates, belly dancing--run by two amazingly fun and compassionate brothers who, noting their physiques, obviously practice what they preach-ALOT! (Speaking of HOT!) They use great music, practice great technique and are not only professional instructors but create a caring, friendly atmosphere. Casual conversation before and after class is encouraged; a laugh during class is not forbidden! And music played during class is a welcome addition. After years of attending that OTHER hot studio with it's egotistical instructors, many who's own physiques I did NOT want to emulate, it is a wonderful release to attend a hot class at Your Body Center and know that the class is MY class, meeting my own expectations without the pressure of over demanding instructors. I drink when I want to, I wipe my face when I want to and leave class feeling fulfilled and peacefully content. Isn't that supposed to happen with yoga? Thanks Ernesto and Donald! Namaste....
Pros: Easy parking; Water always available; great staff;
Cons: No shower
Posted 04/27/08
The hot yoga classes here are not yoga. They are fitness. The instructors are not focused on breathing, proper alignment or meditation. It is more important to them to drill you like a hot-yoga sargeant. I though it was very inappropriate. Plus the other so-called yogis stand in the room and jaw-jack so that it is very hard to mentally prepare the way that I'm used to. I've been doing hot yoga for five years, this is not what I am used to.
Pros: Good location, lots of evening classes
Cons: No water, dirty, inexperienced instructors

Best pilates classes!! If you want a good workout, this is the place to go. Great way to strengthen your core and tone your body without the mean instructors. Great energetic, helpful instructors.
Pros: good workout and instructors with small classes
Posted 03/10/08
I MUST SAY I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL MASSAGE ,WENT IN WITH BACK/NECK PAIN AND LEFT FEELING LIKE NEW WILL RETURN AGAIN AND AGAIN!
SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted 08/04/07
Is Fabulous! I not only take beginning Yoga from Kay ( which is fabulous) but take mat pilates from Ernesto. I am older and I find the studio to have classes for all age groups. Ernesto takes a personal interest in each person and is very accomadating. The classes are small enough that he takes the time to help through your work out! I have seen a difference in my overall body since I have been going! You will see results!

I finally found my favorite hot yoga workout after searching Houston since moving here over a year ago. I found several places with either an attitude problem, high price, or inability to maintain a consistent class schedule. YBC's hot yoga class is the best I've experienced in my 5 years practicing hot yoga because it adds core strenghtening which sets it apart from Bikram and those who try to copy it. The thermometer in the class reads ~110F and that, coupled with the humidity, provides an awesome experience. The instructor, Donald, has created a routine that challenges experienced people while also patiently providing tips so that people new to the practice are not intimidated but rather encouraged. Plus, he plays some real cool music.
After complaining about a sore back to Donald one day after class, I learned that he is also a massage therapist. I made an appointment and WOW. The magic he worked during that 1 1/2 hour session will keep me coming back for sure. I was so impressed that I decided to give a gift certificate for a massage with Donald to my boss for his birthday. He loved it and can't stop talking about it.
Pros: Creative hot yoga routine, deep tissue massage, friendliness and good value
Cons: Wish they had a Sunday a.m. hot yoga class and not just in the afternoon

If you want to combine Yoga and Aerobics in one this is the place! I took the Pilates Ball class and was horrified to hear the latest club music blasting while I bounced on a balance ball to the beat. Maybe I'm "old school" but I'd rather focus on my breath and posture instead of hearing Top 40 tunes in the house re-mix version. A long-time Pilates student, I prefer my Pilates relaxing and quiet. In fact, the reason I take Pilates is to relax my body and engage my mind; and help my troublesome back. This class did none of those.
Insult to injury was the instructor who encouraged the class by yelling "HOLD THAT POSE!" frequently. Never mind that over half the class couldn't keep up and several times a ball or two flew across the room --nearly (or not) missing other participants. The whole thing was like a bad 80's exercise video flashback.
Pros: Yoga & Aerobics in one!
Cons: Like a bad 80's exercise video. Not relaxing or "true" yoga.

The normal place I do hot yoga at was cancelled, so I tried YBC. The place was dirty, dingy, and damp. The hot room was carpeted, which I thought was very unsanitary, and reeked of a smelly locker room. No telling when the last time it was cleaned. The instructor seemed all but happy to be there. He was rude and just plain gross. He must've left his good hygiene and manners at the door. The poses were held for only a few seconds and at the end of a class I was disappointed with the time I had wasted. On top of that the room wasn't even hot. I left feeling like I hadn't even had a workout. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The facility is dirty and the staff is not helpful, nor are they welcoming to newcomers.
Cons: Dirty, Unsanitary, Unpleasant Instructor, Waste of time!
Posted 06/20/07
This center has a good variety of everything from Pilates to different types of yoga. There are all levels, including more advanced and challenging classes for the more advanced yogi. The instructors seem to take what they do seriously and understand the true meaning behind what they do.
It is by far my favorite studio!
Pros: There is a good energy, and first class instructors coupled with variety and convenience
Cons: I wish there were more classes available!

I have been going to YBC for over 3 years and have yet to find a better deep tissue massage than from Ernesto, despite my travels in and outside the States. Now that I am permanently living in London, I still wait until I visit Houston to get my massage to avoid the frustration of experiencing a bad massage. It's that good! Just the right amount of pressure, a calming atmosphere, and no worries even though I have a minor back injury. Thanks YBC!
Posted 05/23/07
I live in Baton Rouge and one of my Houston friends told me about YBC. I had the best massage EVER from Donald the first time I visited YBC....I appreciated his knowledge of the body and his ability to apply deep pressure. The second time I visited YBC I experienced the best vinyasa flow class, taught by Jennifer. She was poetry in motion and the vinyasa flow routines she created were unlike any others I'd experienced. Challenging and fun, she set them all to beautiful music. I would definitely recommend YBC for exceptional massages and yoga classes. I only wish I had the opportunity to visit them more often!

I can't say enough good things about my experience here. I was given the best massage I've had in years. Ernesto is very professional, friendly, and thorough. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I can't wait for my next massage.
Pros: It's all good
Cons: none

Ernesto has been my personal masseuse for three years now. He is amazing, his studio is incredible. I just purchased my THIRD package of 10 hours! And the ashiatsu is the most indulgent, decadent massage experience you can EVER have!
Pros: Great location, ample parking, wonderful service, exceptional technique
Cons: Can't name any

I am so incredibly pleased with the entire staff of your body center. They are all extremely knowledgable, very easy going and and always willing to go the extra mile. I came to YBC as a yoga novice and am now training with Andrew in the am. He is an amazing instructor with a ton of experience and even more patience. I highly recommend coming here!
Also, as a new member with a 3 month "commitment" i was able to get a free massage! Ernesto was my masseuse and he was amazing! I've had a few massages before but he was awesome! I will definently be going back for more!
Don't go to impersonal studios that are more interested in money than you, Your Body Center is the place to go!
Pros: location, staff, beautiful environment
Cons: none!

Cannot say enough. Instructors are knowledgeable, Enthusiastic, friendly and eager to help. The workouts are sweaty and intense and that is a huge plus. The classes are great for beginners, intermmidiate and advanced. The studio is very peaceful. Ernesto is awesome!
Pros: all
Cons: none

This center has a small class size, for now. I felt like I had individual attention from the instructor because of this and because he was so willing to help me with any ?'s or moves that I needed help with.
The massage - 3 words, Oh My God!!!! The best massage I have ever had. Very Therapeautic and relaxing. I have chronic pain in my lower back and when it starts bothering me to the point where is it dibilitating to my activity level, I will have Ernest work on it and the pain leaves in a matter of hours. I HIGHLY recommend the massage.

YBC is truly a rewarding and unique place in Houston. The atmosphere is great, location is easily accessible, decor relaxing and that's just the studio. All the staff are friendly, high energy, patient in classes and very motivational. The owner Ernesto shines in both the classes and all the types of massage he performs. Truly dedicated, he and the rest of his team are an energetic bunch that make this studio tops!!!
Pros: Fun workout, AMAZING Massage, Relaxed Atmosphere
Cons: Absolutely NONE

I was introduced to yoga and pilates in California over 3 years ago. I had the fortune of going to an incredible studio with incredible instructors. I loved the place so much because I would literally leave feeling more at peace. When I moved to Houston I searched high and low for a replacement. I finally found it, and confidently say that Your Body Center has taken the number one spot for yoga and pilates studios in my mind and heart. Great people who know what they are doing and make you feel good about yourself.
Pros: The ambience, The instructors, The studio as a whole
Posted 01/30/06
Ball Pilates is a great pilates workout. It is particularly good for a beginners. Ernesto is a great instructor and makes everyone feel welcome. This is also one of the best values for pilates and yoga in town.

Great Instructors for Yoga! Great diversity of all types of classes (yoga, pilates, tai chi, belly dancing,...) and types of massages offered. Ernesto is a very talented and knowledgable Yoga instructor. They offer Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga from beginner to more advanced classes. Lovely serene decor.
It is such a pleasure to take classes and get massages there. Ernesto is the best deep tissue massage therapist in the world!
Highly Recommended!!
Pros: Great Instructor, Really nice facility, Convenient times, Warm Positive Atmosphere

YBC is awesome! The pilates classes are invigorating and the yoga sessions are intense. Andrew is a very detailed instructor. He keeps everyone in class focused on their postures and form in a non-intimidating enviornment. I leave each yoga session feeling revived and refreshed! I highly reccomend YBC.
Pros: enivornment, instructors, price
Cons: none

Ernesto really worked me out in his palates ball class. It was a small group so I got individual attention. We did some great streatching and I feel great all day after working out in one of his morning classes.
Pros: ernesto, small classes, convenient

I really enjoy this rather unassuming yoga studio. Facilities are clean, instructors are excellent and it definitely offers top-notch value for money. I've been practising here for about 6 months now, and have seen dramatic improvement in myself. I am always looking forward to returning - I feel very at home here, and it certainly is a place I can call my own.
Pros: great instruction, variety of hours, unpretentious
Posted 01/23/06
Ernesto is the very best massage therapist in greater Houston, possibly in Texas. (Can't say for sure...because I have bought two or three packages of 10 hours from him over two years...so he keeps me pretty loyal!)
The studio is beautiful - a unique and soothing venue for body treatment, yoga, and the more gentle of the martial arts.
Posted 01/22/06
YBC is a great studio for so many reasons. The classes are conducted by very caring instructors who know the new comers and make sure they receive the extra attention needed to learn the skills, but they don't lose sight of the long term members who still need to have "fine tuning" to achieve a more advanced position. Maybe you can tell, I really like the Yoga classes...all of them, but the Pilates and Yogalates are a workout to sculpt ALL of your muscles. The staff are very knowledgable and attentive...and the massages are the perfect ending to pamper yourself with. No pressure, just come and see for yourself, you'll stay like I did.
Pros: Atmosphere, Good value, class size
Cons: Haven't found any yet

Greg teaches tai chi at yourbodycenter. I've been studying with him for over a year. Greg's patience, enthusiasm for Taiji and teaching Taiji, and his depth of knowledge never cease to amaze me. He is very serious about Taiji but he never makes me feel like there is any rush to get anywhere. I like to walk my dog to the dogpark in the morning and practice Taiji while my dog romps around. Between weekly classes with Greg and practicing 2 times a week on my own, I'm very happy with my progress. I've been able to gain flexibility, strength, and a new kind of body awareness. I would recommend Greg highly to anyone - from senior citizen to competitive athlete
Pros: good parking, great yoga classes, serene decor
Posted 01/17/06
BY FAR, the best pilates-ball class in Houston. I have a membership to a health club but still come to your body center specifically for the pilates ball class. It's that good! Plus, no parking hassels and a chill environment.
Posted 09/16/05
I've been lifting weights for 20 years, even taking several classes in college, but the teqniques used in the ball class works muscles better. I used muscles I never knew I had, especially in the stomach and lat areas. Enesto is a fun and enthusiastic instructor and makes newcommers feel very welcome. He is easy on the eyes too.
Cons: It was hard to find
Posted 09/14/05
I love this studio. I have attended several yoga and pilates classes since i first traveled to Houston. As an avid sports enthusiast and massage therapist, I was excited to luck into finding such an amazing studio. The staff is friendly and helpful and made me feel right at home from the first time i visit. This past visit, I was able to finaly get a massage by Ernesto, the owner. He is amazing at deep tissue which is my specialty as well. I would recommend this studio to all my friends. Thanks for being there for me!

Without a doubt, the best deep tissue massage in town - the space is magical and the massage is divine.
Pros: Excellent parking, Competent Staff
Posted 08/18/05
YBC continues to get better every day! I've been a student there for more than three years now and I am so happy to see the studio grow, classes get bigger and better. It's all due to Ernesto's wonderful energy and vibrancy and his dedication to students and their bodies.
I love arriving in the studio because I feel like I'm home and I know that when I leave I'll feel way better than when I walked in. The studio space is large, there are many different classes, all taught by very knowledgeable instructors that care a lot about students' progress and health.
Best yoga and massage in town - you can't go wrong.
You can't beat the prices at all in Houston (or elsewhere for that matter!). Give yourself and body a treat, come out to YBC and try a week on them!
Pros: Great studio, Great instructors, you feel great
Cons: NONE
