Ratings_icons Harris County-Hospital Dist is (BEN TAUB Hospital-ER only)

rd 3.

First time experience. And we paid for nothing. 10 Hr. wait. Unorganized. patient rights are not respected. Your "advocate" has to stay out even when speaking w/doctor. They need to teach staff to finish with one patient at a time. Then things would run faster.(if they have blood, urine, pressure)easy things should be done at once. They don't even label some of the tests.
Have always had insurance.Lost income and ended up on GOLD CARD(hchd). We always go to the clinic with appt. They will not refer u. pain and blood levels still bad so went to ER. Ben TAub has way to many "clinic" clients, homeless or patients from the psychiatric ward next door? =)
There should not be any taxes raised for this.
Then everyone will soon be in this system.

Ratings_icons Ben Taub General Hospital is busy but good

Janet W.

I have to disagree with both reviews. My brother has been in Ben Taub for several days and has had great care from doctors and nurses alike. Doctors come several times throughout the day to talk to him and nurses have been very willing to please. Everyone has been very nice. The food is not the best but what hospital has good food. The nurses have even been bringing him sandwiches in the evening! I am actually more pleased with Ben Taub than with some of the other hospitals! So please don't let the other reviews scare you because we have had just the opposite experience.

Not much can be said, if you want to share limited resource with 2 million other uninsured Houstonians, don't expect quality.

Ratings_icons Absolutely the WORST place to be if you need medical treatment!

Albert W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,343

This has got to be the absolute WORST place on the planet to be if you need medical treatment! When I was laid off, I also lost my insurance and my wife ended up in the hospital. For 7 days they tried to diagnose and still no results. It's a teaching hospital and apparantly even the majority of the Doctors could use a refresher course! The nurses ignore the patients calls, didn't refill IV bags when they emptied for an hour or more, etc.

I realize that some people have to go here but the service is simply the worst.

PROS:
CONS: Couldn't get out fast enough!
