My family has been eating at The Cheesecake Factory about every other week now since it opened -- But We Will Never Ever Go Back There Again.

I am a student and am currently taking a photography class. I noticed the lighting on the outside of the building so I wanted to snap a photo of the outside of the building.

A over zealous security guard ran me off the premises and insinuated I could be a terrorist as if The Chessecake Factory was some high value target for Al Quida. He told me to leave and that I was trespassing and followed me to the car, called in my licence plates, while calling for police -- I could not believe it!

A HUGE disappointment!!! The wait is long and the food is mediocre at best. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and Herb crusted salmon. What I got for 20 bucks was three soggy shrimp (perhaps large, definitely not X-large or jumbo) and a 3 inch by 3 inch piece of salmon separated by a glob of mashed potatoes. The lemon-butter sauce served with the scampi and salmon was tasteless. I have had far better meals at Red Lobster - another restaurant that I am not particularly fond of - but it's better than this place! My advice --order the cheesecake, but eat dinner elsewhere. I will NEVER revisit this restaurant.

My husband and I first discovered The Cheesecake Factory when we were visiting Las Vegas. We are both cheesecake lovers and stopped there one day for dessert. We have been hooked ever since and were thrilled when we moved to Houston and learned that they have a couple of locations. The one that we have visited most often is the location at the Galleria Mall.

The Cheesecake Factory has a pretty extensive menu offering everything from appetizers to sandwiches, pasta, and even steaks. Although the servings for their meal items are generous, the food isn't all that great, especially considering the prices (the least expensive items are $10.95). If you eat, you probably won't have room for the most important part, which is the cheesecake! If you are going to try a meal, I recommend that you plan on sharing with someone so that you have room for dessert. Another option is to take the dessert "to go" (you can do this with anything on their menu, as well).

They offer over 50 different varieties of cheese cake, and the prices range from $5-7 per slice. It is worth every penny in my opinion. My favorite is the Brownie Sundae Cheesecake. It comes with a delicious brownie base, and has hot fudge, almonds, whipped cream, and even a cherry on top! My husband loves the Lemon Raspberry Cream Cheesecake. The cheesecake itself has a lemony flavor and then there is a raspberry sauce drizzled over it. This is a great flavor for summer and is very refreshing!

You should know that when you order a piece of cheesecake here, it comes piled with whipped cream. I never end up eating this because I think it just takes away from the cheesecake (and I don't need the extra calories). I know that it's all about the presentation and it does look very nice, but I would recommend asking them to leave it off (unless you're a huge whipped cream fan!).

Depending on the time of day, you may have to wait awhile to be seated. The decor in the restaurant is very nice and creates and atmosphere that is warm and inviting. This is a nice place to meet friends for lunch, nice enough for a "date", or a fun place to have dessert.

We arrived at about 6:30 and were told it was going to be a 20 minute wait, when we went to ask about our table 30 minutes later they told us we were next and it would be just a few minutes more, we ended up being seated at 7:30, three times longer than we were originally quoted. On top of the extremely unacceptable wait time the waitress was inattentive, and slow to bring drinks or refills. Also the main course came before the appetizer. In my opinion the food is not worth the wait or the horrible service.

great place to take the wife! went there recently for our anniversary and we came out happily! definitely going to come back!

best cheesecakes in town!

When I crave something really decadent, I automatically think of The Cheesecake Factory...I mean, who doesn't? It has a plethora of desserts to choose from. They specialize in cheesecake but also carry other favorites like pies and cakes. If you're a cheesecake fan, I strongly recommend you coming here. They have flavors such as Turtle and Oreo cheesecakes. The wait is usually long on the weekends but it's well worth it.

Pros: dessert menu, atmosphere

Cons: long waits on the weekends

★★★★★

Each time I dine here, I'm very satisfied. Yes, at peak times the wait can be up to 2 hrs. But people...it's a peak time. That's a busy time. Don't like it? Don't go when it's busy. I always go at lunch, just before peak time, or late at night for dessert. I've had a few bad experiences, but most of the time when I've eaten here, it's been great. We just ate here the other day, had a wonderful waiter, and the food was outstanding! I had chicken bellagio, and let me tell you, pasta just doesn't taste the same when you reheat it. Never again will I make that mistake! My husband got the bbq bacon cheeseburger, and could hardly finish the burger. Portions are huge, and I mean that! We split their red velvet cheesecake at home, and wow...talk about good. Not my favorite cheesecake of theirs by any means, but good! My recs for cheesecake? original with fresh strawberry or chocolate tuxedo cream. My rec for entree...chicken madeira, or shepherds pie. Yum! Eat here...it's great.

Pros: great cheesecakes, huge entrees

Cons: none

For being so crowded, there were only two waiting benches. Then after an hour wait, I could barely get through the front area to follow my waiter to our table. Once at our table, the waiter took his sweet time taking our drink orders. Then took even longer to come back to take our food orders. We were with a large group and everybody got their food except for me and my mom. The manager came and said he doesn't know what happened to the order. I wasn't irritated at all and said that was fine and thanked him for telling us. I had no problem waiting a little longer. Mistakes happen. So our food (chicken piccata) was brought to us and the noodle were very hard. So hard that my toddler son choked ok it. I did not enjoy it and did not finish it. I actually felt sick afterwards.

I ordered a slice of red velvet cheesecake to eat once I got home. I did not like it at all. The red velvet cake layers were very dry and the cheese cake was whipped too much. I actually mistaked it for icing at first. It was also way too sweet.

I don't think I'll be going back here again. For the price, the service was mediocre at best and the food was not good.

Pros: Nice decorations

Cons: the wait, the overcrowded waiting area, the food

★☆☆☆☆

Horrible service. Next time I will drive to the one in the Woodlands because this one is horrible. My food had a large piece of paper in it. I had to wait for my waiter for 15 minutes (no joke) to get the food back. By that time the rest of the people on the table had finished eating. Finally the waiter came and I told him about the paper, I even showed it to him but it had no affect on him. Then he came back and said "I'm going to get this off the bill" and I felt better about it, but when he brought the bill, it had my entree on it. I was so mad. Eventually he got me another entree but since my party had eaten, I had to get it in a to-go box. Waste of my time. I would not recommend this to anyone in Houston. Spend a little more on gas and go to the one in the Woodlands.

Pros: used to be good atmosphere, now its too loud

Cons: noisy, bad staff, bad management, bad service, corwded, long wait for table

★★☆☆☆

I enjoy their desserts but nothing else. The wait is always long, the servers are a bit slow and sometimes dumb if you ask me. The food portions are big but not that tasty. It's just an OK restaurant.

Pros: Good Dessert

Cons: Service

★★★☆☆

It stinks that you have to work so hard to get there, and then a table, and then a waiter in the Galleria location. The vodka martini and tuna tetaki salad really did make up for it...Kind of. Of course the cheesecakes are good.
Would have to be literally walking by to return though.

★★★★★

I've loved every meal at Cheesecake Factory but this place gets packed on weekend evenings and lunch. The menu offers everything from burgers to the best salads (love the seared tuna salad!) Italian dishes, southwest, mexican you name it. Every out-of-towner seems to have to dine at Cheesecake factory! Just plan to eat early or check in and shop for an hour because the place gets packed!

Pros: Excellent Food and Service, The BEST Cheesecake!

Cons: Crowded, difficult to get in and out of Galleria

★☆☆☆☆

I've always enjoyed my time at the cheesecake factory, and when it came time to plan my rehearsal dinner I wished it could be there! Unfortunatley their website says "can easily seat over 60 people" yet somehow my 17 (according to the host) guests would have to come several hours early for us to be seated by dinner time. Wow.....IT DOESN'T SEEM EASY.........

I was planning a special night and now my money and my faith in the establishment, are going elsewhere!

★★★★☆

This food is absolutely delicious, and the menu is so huge you are bound to find something on there that you are craving. Not only is the menu huge, but so are the entrees. Be prepared to share with somebody. I always share a meal with my sister and my mom! And don't forget the cheesecake. It is so good, and they have every cheesecake imaginable. So, whatever you're craving, trust me, they have it.

Pros: Huge portions and menu

Cons: close tables

★★★★★

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. While there is always a wait it is never very long. And then there is the cheesecake with a long list of flavors you can't go wrong. They also have very delicious martinis!! Great for a group gathering or an intimate dinner. The staff is very friendly and attentive!

★★★☆☆

I have been hearing of this place by many people most likely because it is in the Galleria, and of course I became interested. The wait really was long and I have to say on a positive note, the interior was really nice, but remember the wait was very long. I was looking forward on what to try and stared at their menu. Either I pay a lot of money for a steak or I pay a bit of money for pasta or a hamburger. I went with the pasta. . . and boy was that a wrong choice. It' s really greasy and not good. My sister ordered a baked pasta, it was like biting into raw pasta soaked in oil. And as for my cousin, she got a burger, didn' t finish, asked for a togo box, and the waiter thru it away. All in all the place looked nice, but their food was not.

Pros: The interior, their cheescake

Cons: sort of expensive, their food

★☆☆☆☆

The wait was long, but we expected that, we had a large group too which made things even harder for the staff. The drinks were good (try the gorilla!) and the waiter that handled the crowd definitely deserved extra props for dealing with us. I was expecting a bit more pizzaz with the main dishes, but they weren't bad. My only disappointment would be the cheesecake, I'm not used to it's gritty and curded texture, I was expecting something creamy and smooth.

Pros: professional staff, accountable managers, Wait at the bar

Cons: long wait, a little pricy

★★★★☆

First and foremost, if you go to CCF during the weekend and during peak hours, you're going to wait...this is true for every location from Houston to Boston. That being said, it's worth the wait for the truly good food and beverages. This is the first place I tried a mojito over five years ago and the CCF has the best one in town! Honestly, I've never tried their signature items...cheesecake! I've always gotten more than I needed in appetizers and regular entrees. I strongly suggest the chicken and biscuits (hello comfort food) and the chicken midera. The service has been split...I've had mediocre and like my last visit, excellent. My only complaint is that when you do have to wait, it's in a very tight location...either hallway or foyer. Get ready to be bumped into!

Pros: Quality of Food, Choice of Foods, Drinks

Cons: Wait, Wait locations, Service

★★★☆☆

I think I am the only person in Houston that is not nuts for this place. I hated having to wait 30-45min. for a table. I think that the food is very bland. But I must day the desserts are something else completely. YUMM YUMM. But as far as for lunch or dinner, I would skip it, and just have dessert there.

Pros: desserts, desserts, desserts

Cons: pricey, long wait, bland food

★★★★★

Cheesecake Factory is my favorite restaurant. I've been there several times, and never encountered any problems. The only bad thing about it is the long wait, but that's normally what you would expect to find at other restaurants on a Friday or Saturday night. But other than that, the food is great, the service is great, and the whole place itself is GREAT! The prices aren't bad either. It's well worth the wait!

Pros: Delicious food, Great interior

Cons: Crowded atmosphere

★★★★★

Amazing food and atmosphere. Try Sheila's Blackened Chicken Pasta. They also have great fruity frozen non-alcoholic drinks with mango! Tropical Tea is awesome. If you pig out on dinner and don't really feel like cheesecake, they also serve strawberries and cream. Absolutely Amazing.

★★☆☆☆

Factory stylefood in a factory style setting. What is the big hype. It simply isnot that good.

★★★★★

two flights totalling 11 hours from ireland! thats where i live.
the bbq chicken pizza was mouthwatering. and im not a particular pizza lover.
cherry; silk & satin; toberlone and pecan where the four i sampled. i near slipped off my seat and floated off to heaven.
Dont rush the experience. give the factory the time it deserves!

Pros: the cheesecakes , service , value

★★★☆☆

I like the Cheesecake Factory, I just don't tend to dine here as much as I used to, simply because the customer service is terrible. I don't want to end up saying really bad things about this place, because it's not all that bad. It really isn't. The employees at this popular restaurant could use some training in customer service, or they should be fired, jmo. The wait is long, but that's because it's peak time when people usually come here, and I respect that. The food is wwi (well worth it), large portions, so split your entree, or take half of it home. It's not that expensive. You get what you pay for, basically. I recommend their teriyaki chicken, and for their cheesecake, silk and satin is my favorite. Just try it. See what you think.

★★★★★

The Cheesecake Factory is just fabulous every time I visit. I don't get to go as often as I'd like, and between visits, I dream of their wonderful entrees and mouth-watering cheesecake. I never even liked cheesecake until I tried theirs! My favorite things to get are the Cobb Salad, Chicken Marsala and always Craig's Crazy Carrot Cake Cheesecake. Although we sometimes split our entree, my husband and I never split a cheesecake!

Pros: Food, food, food, Service, Quality

★★★★☆

If u want awesome cheesecake, come here!! I've never had cheesecake so good.. They have like 25-30 different flavors.. They also have a very large menu.. I really like the Thai lettuce wraps.. Sometimes the wait can get annoying though.

Pros: great cheesecake, thai lettuce wraps

Cons: crowded, long wait

★★☆☆☆

Let me see if I can sum this up..well, it is artfully good food, but the service lacks a LOT, plus the people are stuck up!

If you want a good meal, try the teriyaki chicken. I also like the silk and satin cheesecake.

This sounds bad, but I think I had the best margarita here. It really packed a punch!

★★★★☆

I love the Cheesecake factory. The food is diverse, colorful, and the cheesecake tastes like heaven in your mouth. My favorite dish is the Chicken Madeira, its absolutely mouthwatering. During the evening, expect a very long wait. Nights during the weekend are worse--the lines are unorganized, and there is simply people EVERYWHERE. I would probably go there during lunch. If you don't want to eat, at least try the cheesecake. You will be amazed.

Pros: Good ambience, conveniently located, great interior

Cons: crowded, crowded, more crowded

★★★☆☆

The last few times I've gone to the Cheesecake Factory I've gone at odd hours due to the fact the place is always super busy (which is a good thing and also a bad thing). It's located in the Houston Galleria and attracts the shoppers as well as the clientele at the local hotels. Their entrees are a good portion. The Chicken/Shrimp Pad Thai noodles were very bland even with hot sauce on it. I couldn't get the noodles to taste like "Pad Thai". The Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps are always a great appetizer choice or a meal if you order it alone. The sandwiches and burgers are better elsewhere. The BBQ Chicken Pizza is great as well and Oreo Cheesecake and Tiramisu Cheesecake is too die for! Now, just come during odd hours (week days 2-5pm and after 8:45pm) and you'll be sure to sample their food!

Pros: Overpriced Martinis

Cons: Noisy, Long Lines, Crowded

★★★★★

the akes r to expensive whre we live that is saudi arabia jeddah

Pros: excelent serving

Cons: expensive

★★☆☆☆

The management in this place acts like they are the only restaurant in Houston. Just because they have an unlimited number of heads walking through the door. Savvy restaurant customers won't likely return for an encore.

Pros: Decor, Location, Nationwide Reputation

Cons: Rude Treatment, Slow Service, Mediocre Food

★☆☆☆☆

Cheesecake Factory is so "Over Rated". There are far more restaurants in Houston that rate soo much higher than The cheesecake Factory". I found it hard to enjoy my dinner and cheesecake. I do not think that I would merit the restaurant as one of the top Ten.

Pros: Location

Cons: Service, Expensive, Staff

★★★★★

I have listened to several ratings about the wait and I listened. I have gone during off peak times or ordered it to go. The food was worth the 15 min wait and if I had to wait 2 hours...I would. I ordered the shrimp scampi and was a little worried when the waiter said it comes with only 6 shrimp. I tried it anyway and all I can say is...I only had room for 3 shrimp because they were so big. Great place, good food, and if it wasn't worth the wait...no one would be there.

Pros: Great food, Good service, Strawberry Lemonade

Cons: For those that wait

★★★★☆

The food is great, but in Houston where there is so much good food out there..why wait 2 hours when other places will get you in a lot faster. Besides, the hostesses consistently LYE about how long the wait is..telling you 30 minutes..when it's actually 90. Don't waste your time if you can't be seated immediately.

★★★☆☆

The food is great, however, not the wait! Standing in a cold white hallway for 30+ minutes is not the ideal beginning to a relaxing brunch.

★★★★★

I really like going to the Cheesecake Factory. I have dined there several times and I am planning on going there for my 21st birthday. I like their food, and as a suggestion to anyone two people can eat off of one plate. Their severings are rather large. The cheesecakes are wonderful.

Pros: friendly, casual

Cons: long wait, crowded

★☆☆☆☆

I went there on a Saturday night to celebrate my wife's birthday with a group of friends. I did not mind the 1hr. 45 min. wait. However, I did take issue with the fact that our waiter informed us that they had ran out of the white chocolate macademia nut cheesecake. We then attempted to order approximately 9 other flavors of cheesecake and we were told that these too were unavailable. This is just like a steakhouse running out of steak! People go to this restaurant for the cheesecakes. So, customers should be informed prior to being seated when particular flavor has "run out". No apologies were issued by the waiter or the manager. Very poor customer service!!!

★★★★★

With various flavors of cheesecake it is like cheesecake heaven.

Pros: great location(mall)

Cons: crowded

★★★★★

Later addition: Unfortunately the Galleria location has gone downhill since former days. Really sad. The floor is dirty and slippery, the place has lost its glisten, and the food is not the same excellence as before. Instead try the Lux Cafe across the street. It's newer, bigger, and grander, and features the same food and desserts, albeit at a higher price. Otherwise try the First Colony Cheesecake Factory.

My original review:
Cheesecake factory is excellent in every way, except for maybe speed as others here mentioned. Go with someone fascinating=no problem.

This is my favorite Houston resaurant. The menu is gargantuan. There is so much yummy stuff that I methodically work through the menu with my electronic organizer.

Winners: Grilled Portabella (has an outdoorsy char-grilled flavor), Asian veg vtir fry with chicken, Cajun jambalaya pasta (ChCakFact signature dish), Java salad, Orange chicken, Popcorn shrimp scatter, Crispy spicy beef, Chicken madeira.

The portions are SO huge I never have room for dessert. That's ok, because 1 dessert=3 people, except Cheesecake=1 person. The Cheesecake here is the best I have ever tasted. It's light and smooth, not overly rich. It's unique.

The restaurant is beautiful, art deco, highly decorated. Noise is not too bad, it's crowded. There's always a wait. Most dishes are served with artsy embellishments and piled high to look impressive.

Pros: fancy place, great food, fancy food

Cons: always a wait, crowded

★★★★★

If you're a cheesecake lover, you will agree that this place is the place to get your just desserts. I've never seen so many yummy and beautiful cakes in one place. In HUGE portions, I might add. Even if you get one that you might not appreciate the taste as much as another kind there, you'll still eat it because it just looks so dang good. It's hard to share one, even though the pieces are large enough to do so, because you want to keep it aaaall to yourself. At least that's my dilemma. And the food is wonderful, as well.

Pros: consistent great food, large portions, yummy

Cons: little bit pricey, long waits

★★★★★

The variety of selections makes this restaurant a hit. The food is good and the presentation is spectacular!

Pros: Good Food, Variety of Food

Cons: Crowded, Long Waits

★★★★★

The desserts here are well worth skipping dinner. However, the dinners are darn good too. Among my favorites is the Banana Creme Cheescake.

★★★★★

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE, ENOUGH SAID!!!!! IT CAN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!!!!

★★★★★

Not only do they have the best desserts but they have good food and good service. The dining experience is worth the price. And you actually get full. Try it is my recommendation!

★★★★★

Cheesecake! This place definitely lives up to its name. They offer the best cheesecake in the world. I think they have about 30 different varieties so there'll definitely be something on the menu that appeals to you. If you wish to eat inside, my suggestion is that you go during the weekdays outside of lunch or dinner "rush hours." If you go during the weekends, plan to wait in line anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes or longer. The interior design is very architectural, modern: professional, aesthetic surroundings. The service is typically on the slower side during the busy hours so make sure you're not pressed for time when you visit.

Pros: best cheesecake, interior designing

Cons: busy establishment, loud during busy hrs

★★★★★

Out of all of my years of eating out I have never tasted a slice of cheesecake homemade or store bought that can even stand ten feet net to the cheesecake at the cheese cake factory. I suggest to everyone that you must atleast try a slice once in your life time I promise you won't regret it!

Cons: a little pricy

★★★★★

The Cheesecake Factory has a really great atmosphere located in the heart of the Galleria. While their large variety of food is always tasty and well worth the long wait, the desserts are by far their best asset. Before reading CF's desserts' dietary stats on ediets.com, I wholeheartedly indulged in their scrumptious sweets with little guilt. They make much more than cheesecake, including things like strawberry shortcake and fudge cakes. The portion sizes are really huge and filling, so I recommend sharing anything you decide to eat.

Pros: location, portions, variety

Cons: long wait, speed of service
