Banana Moon Hair Saloon

I decided to try this place out on a whim- I kept trying to give myself home haircuts and they were uneven to say the least. I saw online that they close at 8pm, and it was already 6:45. When I called Jana was really nice and encouraged me to come in even though she had just finished with her last appointment of the day. I went in and was delighted to find a lovely little salon that she operates out of part of her home! I immediately knew I had made the right decision and Jana was so pleasant and cute! She did a great job and was fun to talk with. I normally HATE going to the salon but really can't wait to go back!

been having my hair, when i had more by ms. banana before the moon rose!!!!!!! at least 30 yrs+ when i get to the city i always loved, i go to to the moon to see and feel the heart of that love!!!!! kinda like going home!!!! love ya jana peace. spiderjohn is my name friend!!!!

Jana is the only person I trust with my hair! Her prices are great and she has been doing my hair for years! She is the BEST!

Jessica has been cutting my hair for awhile now and she has never let me down. From a simple trim to a big production with dyes etc. she treats each cut with the same care and precision. Banana Moon is a layed back environment and if you're lucky you might even get some crackers, chicken salad and beverages along with your haircut. Or maybe I'm just special. I'd recommend my stylist to anyone for any type of cut.

I had Jessica cut my hair on a whim while I needed my hair cut before a Vegas trip. I was a little apprehensive because I'm particular and I enjoy the uncomplicated nature of getting my hair cut where I know what the results will be. I wear my hair very short and I had let my hair grow out, by my standards, so I don't usually have a lot of room for mistakes where a haircut is concerned. Jessica did a great job, while making sure that I, as a new customer, was getting want I wanted. Glad to see she has her own place now, so I know wher to find her.

I began going to Jana a few months after a devastating haircut I'd had in Greece. I was just parading my horrible early-90's look to the entire world and I was so, so ashamed. When Jana finished with my haircut, I had the semblance of the long blonde locks I had once been so proud of. It's been three years, and I won't let anyone else cut my hair. She does an excellent job with my long hair, never over-cutting but never letting me convince her to leave those split ends. Her products, Alterna and Chi, are top-notch and I recommend them highly. Finally, whenever I feel the mid-winter blues and decide to get a little extra blonde in my hair, Jana is the expert. She does such a good job that no one can ever figure out exactly what is different about me. Very, very few people realize that I cheat with the blonde.

Banana Moon Hair Saloon is a little tiny corner house with a small salon and two big red leather antique chairs. There is a darling little orange kitten who will attack your feet and friendly people are always stopping in to say hi. This place is an Austin original, and Jana is the best.

Thanks to Jana, I haven't had a bad hair day in years and she really knows her way around a beard, too. I tend to shop at Breed Hardware (another 4 star stop) and buy her a piece of chocolate before strolling acoss the street to get my trim.

This is the best hair solon I have ever been to here in Austin and I have been going to a lot of different places for over 30 years. It is a relaxed atmosphere but the owner knows her stuff better than anyone else I have been to here in Austin. So what are you waiting for? Make an appointment! Hurry! No really, hurry!!

I decided to go to Banana Moon because of the price (your age=your price). It's hard to find a good stylist in Austin for anything below $40, so I was little worried but I decided to go anyway. Jana was very sweet and interesting to talk to. I gave her a picture of the haircut I wanted and she did exactly how I wanted it. It looked awesome and she even styled it for free. I'm definitely going back to her.

I have been going to Jana for my color for almost a year now, and I can say I am ALWAYS happy when I leave her shop. She is so good at listening to what my vision is and translating it beautifully into reality!! She is an absolute one of a kind - so very Austin, but with a style all her own. I've been to so many different salons, and usually leave feeling like I have no connection to the person who just did my hair - it's totally not like that with Jana. She is such a genuine person, you honestly can't help feeling like she's not just a hairdresser, she's also a friend.

Jana has been cutting my husband's and my hair for 25 years. Our son is 18, and she gave him his first hair cut as a baby and still cuts his hair today. Our loyalty is inspired by her talent and her personality.

Jana is an artist and a magician in working with all types of hair. Her ability to balance your hair preferences with your hair's reality is uncanny. Watching her cut or color hair is like watching an artist who is in love with their craft. She is just so darned good at hair. At the same time, Jana is an Austin-style character extraordinaire. You might even get to hear some wild stories that will make you laugh or cry or perhaps drop your jaw.

Over the past decade we spent a few years outside NYC and we went to some well known hair salons there, and the results were never as good as Jana's cuts but always significantly more expensive.

Jana is a genuinely sweet and supportive person. Perhaps that is why she is such a great hair stylist. She truly wants to bring out the best in people, and she does that for the outside and the inside of your head.

Let me just start off with WOW! My hair is beautiful! I love it! Jana spent so much time and effort on it and was so nice and patient. I told her what I thought I wanted and she worked with me to get something better. She really listened to my concerns and was very helpful! I love her! This place is great and I totally suggest it. She is affordable and uses great products! I got highlights and was worried about my hair being fried, but it is in better condition now! I didn't know that was possible. She also cut it and for students it is only your age plus $5! She did a great cut two! She told me she has been cutting hair for 30 years. She knows what she it doing! Don't be thrown off by the atmosphere (very Austin). It is awesome!!! Love her!!!
