Being a young female who had already had one c-section go perfect never did I imagine what was about to happen. I had a repeat c-section and was discharged 48hrs later everything was looking good other than a little swelling to my lower abdomen and bladder discomfort. Which were both different than my first delivery. After 6 days of being home I splinted my abdomen and sneezed then the left side of my incision came open a half inch. I called the on call doctor and I was told just to cover it because of all the drainage and if it got worse to go to the hospital (North Hills Hospital). The next day tissue came out of the already open incision. I then went to the emergency room at North Hills Hospital where the PA Jaime just pushed it back in and said all was fine. Dr. Roper then agreed all was fine. No tests were to be done not a stitch to be placed, nothing. My discharge instructions stated to follow up with Dr. Snead in two days. Less than 48 hrs later at 300 a.m. I splinted my abdomen again and sneezed. I was alone with my now 9 day old infant. My incision came completely open and my intestines were in my arms. With both arms full of intestines I had to walk across the house and climb a flight of stares to wake my husband. To then walk down the stares and call 911. I was then rushed to Harris Fort Worth by ambulance for an emergency surgery. Dr. Elliot was the surgeon who repaired what went terribly wrong with staples, sutures, and a jp drain. I was told before the surgery I could lose my uterus, have to get a colostomy, or worse. After surgery I was told my uterus had came open and that is what caused everything else to happen. After another week hospital stay I was discharged home. Only to have to drive the 45minute drive twice back to Fort Worth to have my sutures and drain the staples removed. What was supposed something happy and celebrated turned into a nightmare. I now have thousands of dollars in unplanned medical expenses, money spent on airfare so people could come help me, unpaid time off from my husbands job so he could be with me, gas daily to come see me, and most important time away from my children. While I was in the hospital my infants cord fell off and she began to hold her head up alone. My toddler was terrified to touch me. This could of all been prevented if when I was in the hospital postpartum and sneezed the nurses would have done something when I said I felts like the sutures on the inside came open. Prevented if North Hills ED would and Dr. Roper would have done something. Prevented if Dr. Snead would have called to check after I spoke with his on call. I was not obese, a smoker, diabetic, or anything that would have created a likely hood of this happening to me. Every nurse I spoke to said this should have never happened, myself a nurse I also knew this should have never happened. I no longer see Dr. Jonathan Snead.

BEWARE!!!! you don't have to take my word for this, just moniter the medical examiner's page to see how many people DO NOT make it out of this hospital alive. This review comes from personal experience, my daughter went in with a tummy ache, sent home with pain meds, died the next day from organ failure due to untreated pancreatitis. Use JPS< HARRIS MEthODISt or any other hospital if you want your loved ones to live!

I must say this was the fastest er I have ever been to! It took a total of 3hrs from the time I walked in to the time I was out. All the medical personell were very polite and professional. At one point a lady came out to reassure everyone waiting that they are doing their best to see everyone in a timely manner and apologized for the wait. The Dr even apologized to me for the wait which I didn't think was too long. I was very pleased with my visit and would highly recommend everyone to this hospital. Thank you to everyone who made my visit as pleasent as possible even when I was in so much pain.

To the person that had complaints about Lynette on the 4th floor.
I have worked with Lynette for well over 6 years. She is one of the most compassionate nurses I have known ( I have been a nurse well over 15 years as well) and would not hesitate to have her take care of me, my family, or relatives. In fact, if I was a patient on her floor, I would request her looking after me cause I know that I would be cared for. Its families like you, that think you know more then you do. You failed to mention the mentation of your family member. Chances are he was rude, demanding, maybe confused, or maybe it was the difficulty dealing with family members like you. Bottom line, you should probably think before you start bashing a fantastic nurse.

I went to north hills for severe stomach pain and nausae and vomiting,I sat in the waiting room for 2hours but while in the waiting room they did an xray..how stupid is that no one had even seen me but a nurse? finally get back to the er and the nurse quenten was a good nurse. the dr was okay but didnt spend much time..I had to drink alot of stuff for the cat scan which I was very nervous about having im afraid of those things,,when I finally had the scan a tech named kyle was nice and expained everything he was doing during the scan when they put some dye into my iv I threw up everywhere and he cleaned me up and was very caring.
once i got back to er my nurse quenten took very good care of me. finally some 2 hours later dr jones let me go and said I had a virus.
it was an ok hospital but my bills were outrageous for having just a virus. oh by the way my hospital bed had blood all over it when i sat down on it my husband got a rag and cleaned it up..thats just nasty!!!

My wife used this hospital when our son was born and the staff were great and it is a very nice hospital although the ER is another story!

The billing issue started several months later. Here's what happened:
1. Completed admission form several days before admission. We gave information for both our primary insurance and supplemental insurance. Admitting office informed us that they would take care of everything with the insurance. We would not have to do a thing.
2. Started receiving bills several weeks after leaving the hospital.
3. Discovered that the hospital billed our supplemental insurance company as primary leaving a smaller balance which was then billed to the primary which distorted the actual bill.
4. I spent the next YEAR making dozens of phone calls to my wife's primary insurance company and supplemental insurance company and the hospital billing department (which is 3rd party) complaining about the errors with my billing.
5. After finally getting it all cleared up I spent another 2 months making repeated phone calls back and forth between billing and the supplemental insurance company to get my $2000+ refund for an overpayment.
6. Discovered a few months later that the anesthesia company that did the epidural wasn't even informed by the hospital about the primary insurance, only the supplemental. They were also told it was the primary. This bill will no longer be paid by the primary and the hospital may be responsible for it but if so then I would lose the overpayment refund for that service.

My advice if you use this hospital and have supplemental insurance, DO NOT give them the information. Wait until you get the bill and submit it to the supplemental company yourself. It will save you a lot of headaches and you'll be paid any overpayment directly from your supplemental company!

North Hills hospital should consider a different 3rd party billing company and should also evaluate their admission clerks after these types of errors but they don't advertise on their site on how to file a complaint nor does there seem to be a department in the hospital to lodge such complaints.

Have you turned into Jps? My mother was brought in on Oct.26 2008,and left in a hallway,We were not even given a room. They put her in a hallway and she was treated there, no privacy! She was not given a ice pack for her broken wrist, nor for her black eye until we asked for one.I know that more serious cases are seen first. But the quality of care in this hospital is lacking in the ER department. We have lived in this area all our lives and used this hospital for years. But we will have to think twice about using it again in the future. And may have to go to one that is farther away. Heaven forbid it is not life or death when we have another emergency. This is my opinionClaudia Goodson daughter of patient.

I really have no idea how to convey my gratitude to the wonderful physicians and nurses at North Hills Hospital. I'll just tell you of my experience. I had a heart attack Friday May 30, 2008, arrived at North Hills at 7:45 P.M. I believed that was going to be put down as the time of death for me. As my brother and son in law carried me into the E.R. and said cardiac here I was swarmed by about ten people. I was treated with an exceptional amount of urgency. The medical staff in that department are a GOD send. I asked them not to let me die and was told by an angel of a nurse that it wasn't going to happen on their watch. What a beautiful women I love her for her care and compassion. They stopped my heart attack and had me in and out of the CATH LAB and resting in ICU in about an hour with a STINT in place. Dr. Lander said I had major blockage yet that couldn't receive a STINT and that I would most likely need a triple bypass surgery. I was in Texas on business I live in South Dakota and wanted to go back home to have to tests and surgery. I got out of the hospital and against the advice of a very bright Doctor went back to work Monday June 2, 2008. By 10:00 A.M. that day I experience exactly what Dr. Lander said I would more heart problems. Back to the E.R. at North Hills and again the Medical Staff treated me with exceptional urgency. The Doctor that morning was Dr. Manzori he placed me into the C.C.U. where the nurses are among the most kind, loving and caring people I have ever met anywhere and I've been about everywhere. After some testing Dr. Manzori informed me that the left side of my heart was not getting enough blood through it and that I was not to even be up walking until my heart was fixed. And that I would probably not make it back to South Dakota without having another heart attack had I choose to leave. And from what I experienced I believed that to be very true. I'm a 48 year old man and I want to tell you that I was very afraid that I was not going to see my home again. That is when I met Dr. Khalafi who in my opinion is one of the most humble men I have ever met. He being among the BEST of the BEST in his field certainly could have sported a well deserved ego however he gave all his glory to his GOD and only claimed to be a tool. I too give all glory to my GOD however I hold Dr. Khalafi in very high reverence. His passion for his work and compassion for his patience is like none other. I love this man he saved my life with open heart surgery on Thursday June 5, 2008. I will forever be grateful to have him as my Heart Surgeon ( Thank You Sir ). He fixed my heart while it was still in my chest pumping never having to stop it or restart it. Triple bypass! I recovered in the Cardiac I.C.U. for a couple of days then was moved to the C.C.U. where I finished my recovery. I'm typing this from a hotel room near the hospital while waiting in Texas to have my follow up appointments with Dr. Khalafi before traveling home to South Dakota. It is 11:20 P.M. Tuesday June 10, 2008 I'm sitting in a chair counting my many many blessings. I want to say that the professionals I came in contact with at this hospital are the most kind, caring, giving, loving, compassionate, passionate people it has ever been my pleasure to meet and know. The Doctors, Surgical Team, E.R., C.C.U., I.C.U., Nurses, Respiratory Theripists, Physical Theripists, Dieticians, and Housekeeping ( if I left anyone out it's only because I'm so overwhelmed by it all ) all treated me with professionalism, respect, love and compassion. I truly can't express my gratitude to all these wonderful caregivers, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! The Medical Professionals at North Hills Hospital are a real gift from GOD. I pray that the Peace and Love of GOD be with them always. If your ever in need of their service don't hesitate to ask them. I'm sure you'll experience the same Love as I did. As I said in the beginning of this review I can't begin to express the gratitude they ALL deserve. Thanks to you all! I love you!

Wow, reading the other feedback doesn't even sound like the same hospital to me. I've been through the same outpatient procedure there 3 times (EGD) and had great results. The nurses treated me like someone special each time.
Several years ago my sister-in-law became very ill and in spite of every effort to save her, she didn't make it. But we, as a family, always felt like she was well cared for and that they did everything they could with the compassion you'd expect.

I have needed the hospitals services twice. Both times the care was good. However both times they also messed up the billing. I wish I knew what to tell you to keep it from happening, but I do not. Just document everything, who you talk to, when etc. Again, got great care, just a nightmare afterwards.

I have had to have outpatient surgery and everything went great. Check in process was quick and easy for a hospital. Everyone was very nice from start to finish and seemed truly concerned for you. My physician is affiliated with this hospital and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

My dad was taken to North Hills Hospital for a toe amputation. The doctors were great but the nurses were awful! Lynette on the 4th floor was the worst! She screamed at my dad and seemed irritated to have to help. I can only imagine how she acts towards patients if a family member were not present. A family member had to be present day and night just to make sure he was well taken care of. I only hope that the hospital personel will take time to train these nurses on how to be compassionate and show some concern and respect for their patients.

This a good hospital.
I had my girls here at this hospital and received excellent care. The girls were twins and 1 had to be in an oxygen tent for awhile. The staff made sure I received regular updates until I could go see her. They really make you feel like your are a top priority and that they care. If you need them they are right their. When you are admitted you never have to hunt down a nurse, they are always within view. They have no problems with you keep you newborn(s) in your room and will only come and take them when the doctor is in for a checkup or testing unless the doctor you chose will come to you. This is a great hospital to have a baby.
Even when you have to make a trip to the ER once you get back the nurses and doctors are friendly and really do care about what brought you in. They will make you feel comfortable and relaxed while they find out what is wrong and brought you in. The only down side is teh long wait to be seen and the long wait still once you get back. They do not have enough staff if the ER for the load of ER patients they receive on a regular basis.
They do have adequate parking so parking is never a real problem. They are close to places for family to leave and eat close by while loved ones are sick and families do not want to stray too far. The facillity is kept clean with a cleaning crew always visible. They will work with your financial situation and insurance to better assist you with less stress and worry.
Overall I would recommened this hospital to anyone.

PROS: Caring Staff, clean,
CONS: long wait times in ER

"Dr Kalai" stoppedbeing nice when she learned that we were going to move away. Just before we were scheduled to move, our infant son had fever and respiratory infection and did not respond to the treatment she prescribed a week ago. Still she did not even consult on the phone with us. She told us to go find a new pediatrician in our new location. I could not even get a vaccination record card from them, they told me my new doctor can give it to me!
This pediatricians office also does not respect your time. I waited for at least half an hour extra for my scheduled appointment every time. Their office is also in need of renovation or a coat of paint at least. They dont even have a restroom or baby care room you can use while you wait.

This is a wonderful hospital to visit, I drove my fiancee to the ER after spending an hour at one of those urgent care type centers without being seen. The staff was courteous understanding and really fast as we were in and out in less than 45 minutes.

I have been to many different doctor's offices but, this is one of the few that i have never had to wait more than 10 minutes to be seen. They remember me without haveing to look at a chart and seem to really care. I am not just another number to them.

One of the worst hospitals in the whole state of Texas. Staff is rude and prejudice. You will be waiting for four hours and still won't be seen. You could be passed out on the floor and nobody will assist you. Worst staff and worst

I am pleased to say that the professional staff at North Hills Hospital have another victory, one with unknown speed of recovery (at least as my family is concerned). One week ago today I went in for triple bypass surgery recommended by Dr. David Slife and due to 70-90 percent blockage of three arteries on the top left side of my heart. This was also the first surgery of any kind for me as I try to stay away from hospitals and have done so for nearly 65 years. After coming out of the "fog" in the recovery ICU room, I asked my wife for my reading glasses and a book brought along to help spend the time while getting back to normalcy. The pain was minimal, the care and encouragement awesome. I spent less than two days in ICU and less than two more in the "step down" sutie meaning that I went home the evening of my four day after surgery. My surgeon was Dr. Reza Khalafi recommended by Dr. Slife. He is good!
Bottomline: if you find yourself as I did needing such surgery, I had none of the ususal symptoms at all, I highly recommend this hospital, its staff of great people, and of course, Dr. Slife and Khalafi. A merry Christmas to all of them for the best present I have ever received in this lifetime!

Pros: Professionalism shown by all staff, newly remodeled ICU, state of the art medical processes

Cons: Needing the surgery to begin with
