The massive appeal of Dick's is hard to put your finger on. We don't know if it's the wacky tacky decor, the sometimes sassy service, or the bountiful buckets of fabulous food. We do know the food's hot, the beer's cold and if the music's too loud you're too old. That's right, we're Dick's where it's fun for all, all in fun for all that dare to enter. Check out our Party Pkgs-like the Bachelorette Party - For only $16.99 per person, your choice of 1/2 lb. Drunken Peel 'n Eat Shrimp, 1/2 Honey Roasted or BBQ Chicky, 1/2 Slab BBQ Pork Ribs, Chicky Caesar Salad, Roadhouse Chicky Salad, Mae West (2 lg. Chicky Breast). At no extra charge for the bride: special cake, Real Women Love Dick's T-Shirt, special "BJ" shot, I Love Dick's Bumper Sticker, Kodak single use camera. Come to Dick's today.

There is lots of fun and atmosphere at this Texas restaurant/bar on the Riverwalk. Just don't tick off the waiters/waitresses or you may end up in the river!

NY'ers & other Tourist STAY AWAY FROM D*CKS
by BewareOfDicks
Here's the truth about d*ck's.
I went to Texas to see my brother who is in the air force. D*ck's was a couple of blocks away from our hotel, so we decided to have lunch at d*ck's.
We were seated, greeted by our waiter, and that's when the drama began. The waiter threw each menu at us (we were a party of 6). We couldn't believe it, we didn't know the reputation of d*ck's...we were surprised but thought it was funny. The waiter told us not to take it personal because "that how d*ck's manage it's restaurant". Okay...so we looked over the menu. I had a question about one of the meals, the waiter looked at me like I had two heads, walked away and never answered my question. Okay...so we ordered anyway. The server brought us our drinks. We asked for straws. He never brought it to us. So my father asked a second time and the waiter said "straws are for gay men" we didn't find his comment funny at all.. He walked away, and I was uptight that he had made such a thoughtless comment. So I called him over and asked for straws again. He walked away and brought us back coffee straws (the little red stir straws). Hahaha, funny but I told him we really wanted regular straws. So believe it or not, the waiter came back with about 50 straws and threw it at us. It struck my brother and myself in the face. I was so mad, I got up and screamed at him, and asked him, how is throwing straws in someone's face funny. And he said, I always throw things. So I said how would you like it if I threw something at you. He didn't say a word, I'm guessing he was in shock that I was so upset ? see, he's used to treating people this way and he's never reprimanded for it. So we left without paying and went to saltgrass, (couple of blocks away) where the server's were polite, and the food was amazing.
If you like to be degraded or if you think being disrespected is funny, then this is the place for you. I have a sense of humor, but his actions were not funny at all. I?m from New York, and in New York we don?t take being disrespected lightly. D*ck?s better watch it, because they are going to do that to the wrong person ? and guaranteed the waiters will think twice of being rude.
D*ck's gave us a horrible experience - but it's okay, because there are so many other great restaurant's along the riverwalk.
Pros: found another side of myself - my temper
Cons: waiters - service (waiter's are really D*cks)

Good Times
by SVCat
Three of us went out this past Tuesday, May 26th 2009. Francis, our waiter was funny as hell. These guys are quick and will be ready to verbally assualt you with the most minor of things. Hint: If you aren't quick on your heels, you'll miss a lot of the jokes. Loved the place, the atmosphere, the food. Loved every minute of it....just beware, if you get offended easily then this isn't the place for you. You must have thick skin...then again, I was talking trash right back to them so I am sure I got an extre dose of their medicine.
Pros: Lot's of laughter
Cons: None

Don't go to D's
by Hawkfan
D's was to be a highlight of our trip! On Thursday night, (they weren't that busy). It took a half hour to get a beer. On Friday night when we went for dinner, they refused to serve us when we engaged them in the rudeness I understood them to be famous for. The food is expensive and doesn't look that good! There are lots of options on the Riverwalk, don't make D's one of them!
Pros: None
Cons: Poor Service

Disappointed in Nice, Tame Waiter
by mikeduron
Nothing beats a sunny afternoon and an ice-cold beer on Dick'sLR patio -- watching the people stroll along the river and even meeting people from all over the world as they sit, drink, and try to figure out why the wait staff is so flippin' nuts....
Heh ... my kind of place fer sure.
See ya there! ;)
Pros: On the River, Live Music, Good Crowd, Rude Service
Cons: Sometimes the Waiters aren't Rude Enough

You better have a sense of Humor!!!
by lpepper22
D1ck's Last Resort was the last place I wanted to spend my husband and my first romantic dinner in San Antonio, but was very surprised. They had a live band that played some pretty good music, some great food and great drinks. It is definatley, not a romantic place, but if you have a good sense of humor, you can take the jokes that the waiters throw at you and the unique hats they make out of paper for you to wear with your own personal saying(not appropriate for children) you will have a great time. And be sure to ask for some extra napkins, they have a unique way of getting them to you. I won't tell you the details, you will just have to find out for yourself!

Avoid this Restaurant when Mr. Watkiers is managing!!!
by txjoanne
The manager, Mr. Watkiers, doesn't care about customers. It's fun to be harassed inside the restaurant, but when it is carried outside, in front of tourists, children, etc. by one of the waiters, it's not funny anymore. My nephew who was visiting from another state has a bad opinion of Texas because of how the manager chose to handle this. A police officer was standing nearby and heard everything the waiter said and went back to the restaurant to talk to the waiter about his bad language and attitude in public. The manager just laughed about it. If San Antonio depends on tourism the way this manager, Mr. Watkiers, handles customers, it gives Texas a bad name. In short, AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!!!
Pros: None
Cons: Gives Texas a bad name!

Good Times ! !
by tyianicole
I would highly reccommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have a good time while in a great atmosphere. The wait staff was great at keeping us entertained. And they kept the cold beer and napkins flowing for the whole night while we were present! I am going to plan on making multiple trips back to see this crew again!! I loved every minute of my experience there!! Thanks so much!
Pros: Cold Beer, Great WaitStaff

Grumpy old man
by gudoc53
Our waitress was pleasantly rude and playful. The drinks were plentiful. The portions of food were not as large as one would expect from the menu, but certainly adequate. This is a very loud restaurant on the outside. Good gathering meal with friends but would not impress a business client.

~The Best Time Ever~
by hil_2004
My friends and I went to this restaurant on the River Walk and we had a total blast.. It was so much fun and the people were so rude it was hilarious! The only thing that we didn't care for was the food. It was a little over priced for what you got. But other than that I would reccomend this place to anyone. You have to go in with an open mind and be willing to have a good time!
Pros: great location, a lot of fun, hot guys
Cons: expensive, food sucked, bad parking

Does anyone realize this is a chain?
by kennykernick
Uh, hello? This entire "We're Dick's" concept is a prepackaged, pre-scripted plan that you can find in many major cities around the country. The San Antonio version pulls it off better than the one in Boston or San Diego, but they still can't take what they dish out. Try making your own joke or say something off beat. Your waiter won't know how to handle the fact that he's off the script.
PS. The food is greasy and overpriced at all Dick's.
Pros: beer is cold
Cons: Food is greasy, Service is stupid, overpriced
