My husband and I recently attempted to have a nice date night at the Capital Grille. We arrived 15 minutes early for our 8:00 PM reservation on a Saturday evening, checked in with the host, and proceeded to wait nearly one hour for our table. We let him know we would be in the bar, so that he could easily let us know when our table was ready. ONE HOUR later we had not yet been seated. My husband had to check with the host several times regarding when our table might be ready, and only after waiting 30 minutes past our start time did anyone proactively approach us to apologize for the delay. I understand that Saturday is a busy night for any restaurant, but I've had better service at Chili's! We were finally seated and whisked through the main dining rooms, past several prime open tables, only to be placed in the corner of a dark back room with no other guests. At that point we decided that our business was obviously not appreciated, and we decided to leave. While the Manager did apologize profusely to my husband, we decided to take our business elsewhere. I will say that I have had wonderful dining experiences at the Kansas City and Houston Capital Grille, but it seems that the Dallas Capital Grille is not up to par.

This is a beautiful white table cloth kind of place. The food is good and so is the service.

We went there for a company dinner and the atmosphere was nice and the waiters were terrific. The shrimp and lobster appetizer looked amazing and got a great response from everyone that ate it. After that, everything went downhill. I had a well done fillet and thought it was not worth my time. The biggest problem was that the cut of meat was not good. Have had better at a cheapy steakhouse. Very expensive. Others at the meal claimed the same thing - the cut of meat was inferior to other steak houses. The big cookie dessert was very bad, and had sounded so promising. I would not recommend this as a steak place when so many others in Dallas are superior in every way.

We went to Capital Grille (uptown) for our anniversary last year and were very, very impressed.
First of all - if you are celebrating a special occasion, be sure to let them know when you make reservations! We got there to find that our table had "Happy Anniversary" confetti sprinkled down the middle, a card signed by staff; a complimentary photograph was taken, our dessert was on the house, and I (the lady) was given a rose. Lovely experience!
Now to the food...can I just say DROOL....! OMG...I ordered the French Onion Soup as an appetizer, and it is the best I've ever had; hubby had the lobster bisque and said it was the 2nd best he's had, the first being when he was on a business trip in Maine, so there you go.
My filet mignon was positively melt-in-your-mouth delectable, as were the garlic potatoes, and hubby loved his steak and asparagus as well.
Service was impeccable; our waiter was not only very knowledgeable but also very friendly, didn't talk down to us at all (as wait staff in upscale restaurants can sometimes do), and, when we admitted we're not exactly Rockefellers and asked for a mid-price range wine for dinner, he was very helpful without being one bit condescending. Very impressive.

All that being said - I noted "Special Occasion Restaurant" for a reason: this place ain't cheap, or even mid-range. Most of us are not wealthy, and I'm assuming that if you're here, you're doing your research for a great place to celebrate. I can tell you that the 2 of us spent around $250.00 on pre-dinner drinks, appetizers, dinner, and a bottle of wine. For us, that's very pricey. But if it's a special occasion and you can afford it, I can HIGHLY recommend The Capital Grille.

Excellent service. Good quantity. We went for anniversary - there was a card waiting for us. They also took a photograph of us and gave a small portrait. When I was overwhelmed with one of the dishes and could not eat it ( as I was full) , they did not even charge me for it. Highly recommend this place for anyone

I really dont understand why this place gets so many good reviews. Seriously, worst steak house ive ever been to. I was actually looking forward to it because my cousin went for her anniversary and they were raving about how great it was. But when me and my boyfriend went, it was horrible. The service was beyond ridiculous. I have been to way better steak houses. My boyfriend actually works in uptown and he knows good service when he sees it. Our server was very rude, she was hardly there, I have no idea what her name was cause she did not introduce herself once, and I guess she thought we weren't even supposed to be there because she paid no mind to us. The food itself was decent but I couldn't even enjoy it because our waitress was staring at me from across the room just mean muggin me. Like she was ready for us to leave. Funny thing is, I am a great tipper but that day, I was so ready to just not even tip! thats how bad and awkward it was.

I've been to a few Capital Grilles about the country, and this location lives up to the reputation. I am glad that the service and food are consistently excellent. Great drinks and a fantastic location make this a great place for a business meeting or a nice dinner with the wife.

We expect great things from The Capital Grille, and as always, we weren't dissapointed. From the greeting when we walked through the door throughout the evening we thouroughly enjoyed every aspect of the experience. We told the host it was our anniversary and we were treated to a card on the table, a personalized dessert, and fabulous service. Obviously the food was without compare as well. The Capital Grille is the benchmark against which we compare other restaurants and to date, none have even come close.

Our party of four had a marvelous meal at The Capital Grille in Dallas. Exquisite setting, attentive service and fabulous food in surprisingly enormous portions. This was our first visit to The Capital Grille and it was everything we hoped it would be. It's our new favorite spot in Dallas for fine dining.

Everything was great!!! (service, ambiance, food, value) recommend to all. i personally like Al Bernat's better, but this comes extremely close (in reference to steak).

We went to the Grille for the first time and were blown away by everything. From the complimentary valet parking to the great atmosphere to the tremendous service and last but not least the amazing food. We have a new standard for restaurants now. We had sirloin steaks, au gratin potatoes and a must have the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Best food I've ever eaten. If you want a comfortable eating environment (no jacket required, jeans ok) and real food without all the "fru-fru" hype of some pricey places, this is where you need to go. You will not be looking for your tiny food on a huge plate here. Generous portions were the standard. We will be back.

This place has impeccable service and the food or should I say steaks are the best in Dallas. Great place for a special occasion or just a place to dine with friends. This is a very classy restaurant and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Go for lunch. Go for dinner. Just go.

I like lunch myself, especially when I want to see and be seen and eat well. It reminds me of the power lunch spots of yore. The lobster salad is packed with fresh lobster meat, piled high on a crisp lettuce mix (I could lose the cucumber chunks, but that's just me).

Evenings turn power lunch to power romance, with a sensational wine list and maybe the finest steaks to be found in Dallas.

Will you pay too much? Of course. Will it be worth every penny. It absolutely will.

One of the best restaurants anywhere. We've never been disappointed on any visit. The food here is excellent, but the service may be even better than the food. Even at somewhat high menu prices (compared to other choices), overall, Capital Grille is a very good value.

My boyfriend and I celebrated Valentines day at the Capital Grilled and everything was exceptional, the waiter was very attentative and the food was excellent. We will be back again.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. The food is excellent, no matter what you try. The steaks are always prepared perfectly and the seafood is great. My favorite appetizer is the calamari, I havent found anything that even comes close to how good it is. The sides are large, so what you always want to do is order a few for everyone to share. The staff is incredibly friendly and it is the type of place that is going to get to know you by name and have your drink order before even aksing. It's also a great place if you just want to have drinks after the symphony or a basketball game. It can get a little loud during the week though, because its usually filled with business men having large group dinners. It is also very romantic and they are willing to fill any special request you might have (for instance, putting rose petals on the table for you) The wine list is amazing, the alcohol selection is vast. Parking is ok, but I would recommend using valet.

Saff very attentive, yet unobtrusive. Also, very easy going and had a great sense of humor. They somehow took the time to know all of our names, which surprised me!
Great food! HAd a business dinner there on one occasion and would also recommend it for an easy going, yet top notch restaurant to take your clients!

After reading the great reviews about this restaurant and the rating of 9.9 who wouldnt want to come here? Waiter wasnt that bad but i had better at Pomppas bros. The food was not that great, i got the surf and turf. 10 oz lobster tail and 10 oz filet mignon. Steak was salty and not even tender. How can you call that a filet from a prestigious restaurant like this? The lobster tail was perfect thought. Very fresh and cooked perfectly. I was by myself and dinner cost 92 dollars without getting any drinks. If you guys want some good steaks, the best so far, is in brooklyn, NY. Peter Lugars. Their steaks are so good and tender that it just melts in your mouth.

Last time I was here, the wait staff was very friendly; the food was excellent; and atmosphere was peacefull. I had the Delmonico (which was great!), salad and 1 extra side w/ a drink. My date had about the same w/ a glass of wine. Combined the bill was around $120 so if you go, expect that to be average for 2 people.

I searched for a place that would be perfect for my boyfriends' birthday! I finally settled and was very happy with the experience and results.
I made reservations and told them we were celebrating. As we arrived, they lead us to the table to see a birthday card signed by all of the staff and we were surprised.
The service was top notch, the food was impeccable, and the drink "Stoli Dolli" is a must to try!
Our night was unforgettable and definitely worth every pennie. They even brought his favorite, Strawberry Cheesecake, to celebrate and snapped a picture for keepsake.
It is pricey, so be prepared.
We definitely plan to go back for another special occasion. After dinner we went to the bar/lounge area for another glass of wine and jazz music, we didn't want the experience to end. After leaving, we walked around the Cresent Court with our leftovers :)
So, if you are looking for a place to celebrate go to the Captial Grille, hands down!

The service at The Capital Grille is by far the most consistant and honest service of any high end restaurant in Dallas. A special ocassion should be just that, and The Capital Grille goes above and beyond to ensure your dinning experiance is one to remember. From the card and flower on the table, to the superb food and impecable service, I will return for any birthday, anniversary, or just plain "Tuesday", that needs to be celebrated. I highly recomend The Capital Grille.

We have had the pleasure of dining at the Capital Grille now a few times and are always completely floored by the service, food and ambiance. There is no better place to be made to feel like a million bucks on a special evening. You don't have to worry about making a bad choice off of the menu because there is none. We love to go with friends and order very diverse selection and beg each other for tastes of it all. This works eespecially well with the desserts. If you have a specical event or people visiting you from outside the Dallas area do not miss this opportunity to create this over the top memory for a dining experience. The staff is attentive but not intrusive and they aim to please. With Andrew in charge the motto seems to be "whatever it takes to make you happy" and the entire staff follows that lead. The food was incredible for lack of a better word, right from the appetizers to the desserts. We even stopped there one night on our way to an event one night and didnt have time for the formal sit down dinner, so we landed in the bar and experienced a wonderful quick couple of cocktails and the best version of "bar food" ever created! It is defintely worth the drive from Frisco or anyway else for that matter.

Went in with the girls for a night out & had the most fabulous time. The food was excellent (we had the stuffed baked lobster), the wine was excellent but the service was outstanding. You can eat anywhere but we were treated special. Corrina was the perfect waiter. She could read our minds, make us laugh while serving a flawless dinner. What sets this place apart is the service! The valet had our car waiting and cooled for us when we walked outside into the summer heat. How refreshing! A perfect evening & we will be back.

I took my husband to Capital Grille for his birthday. I was a little disappointed that our table was not ready at our reserved time but was very pleased to see that the table had been decorated for his birthday, complete with a birthday card signed by the staff.

The steak was amazing and the wine list was unbelievable. As fabulous as the food was, you definitely want to leave room for dessert. The Strawberries Capital Grille were to die for! The staff was incredibly courteous and attentive.

The only disappointment was the side dish. We ordered potatoes au gratin and found them to be very average.

If you are willing to spend the money, the food will be well worth it.

I had one of their dry aged peppercorn Sirloin with courvasier creme and wrapped in cracked pepper. It was amazingly the greatest steak I have ever had! The Wine list is unbeatable as well. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun night out and an outstanding meal.

Our reservation was for 7:30 pm . We arrived around 7:30 pm and were not seated until 8:15 pm. I was a little disappointed with the wait. They made up for it with complimentary calamari. We were waited on by Diego and Karen. They were both great! I had the tuna which was cooked perfectly rare and wonderful. My husband had steak. He thought it was fantastic. They added a few extra touches like a card from the staff, a yellow rose, and some metalic confetti on our table. Desert was excellent too-white chocolate moose and coconut cream pie. We'll be back for our second anniversary.

During Christmas holidays I was a guest at The Capital Grille. Diago was my server (I hope that is the right title) but I was treated like a princess. Food suggestions were made and wine choice samples were served to ensure I was totally satisfied. By all means, I will be back the next trip to Dallas. I don't know when I have enjoyed a meal and the service as much as that day. Can't wait to be there again - just thinking about it makes me hungry. Thank you, Capital Grille, for making me feel like a princess.

The restaurant was very elegant, romantic and relaxing but a little bit dark. My steak was slightly overcooked but delicious. My husband's lobster was chewey and not as fresh as we had anticipated.

From the time I called to make my reservation to the valet closing our door and thanking us for coming upon leaving it was truely a memorable experience. The ambience warm and inviting, the food high quality and delicious (in some cases the best of its kind) and the service, polished, professional, but warm and friendly. We left with the sense that they truely appreciated our business. What more could you ask for? In our case we were celebrating a special occasion, when we arrived at our table we found the table decorated just for us with a small note from the staff congratulating us on our anniversary. Complimentary champagne followed along with chocalate covered strawberries. If you have a special occasion I would highly recommend The Capital Grille for your special day. They "blew us away".

I would definitely return to the Capital Grille. I can not emphasize how special our evening was due to the hospitality and service provided by our server. Corrina made us feel so welcome and I will certainly request her again. She had the nicest, most sincere personality and was genuinely happy to serve us. Her recommendations were first class and so was her service. The food was just over the top. Then there was the wine list, wow what a wine list. A must go for any and all with some impressing to do. and don't forget the 25% tip to Corrina!
