Back Porch

Recently, we went to the BPB to see Gary P. Nunn. We were in a party of 8 and we paid our $15 to get in. When we asked about leaving and returning we were told that the Door Attendant would remember our "smiles" and laughed it off. We got a table in the back corner and before the music started we could see the band. However once Gary started playing, the only way to see or HEAR him was to go to the restroom. The ladies room had only two stalls and one of them was out of order with a very large crowd. My 25yo son and his friend left the bar to go smoke a cigarette as a courtesy to those of us who don't smoke. The Door Attendant wouldn't let them back in. The boys stepped over the fence in the back to our "back corner table" and then one of the "owner/managers" tried to throw them out. After we made it clear that the offending party was their lack of door control, the guy offered us all a "round on the house." The round was never served to us, instead another lady (self-proclaimed co-owner/manager) then came over to the table to insult us. She started by telling us that in no way would she provide drinks for the two tables of people. Then she bashed her co-manager telling us he had no authority. Then she got confrontational and got in our faces leaning in over the table. All of this with us just explaining that ALL we wanted to do was listen to the music. Then she kept harrassing us at our table until we decided to leave (we couldn't hear the band anyway, too crowded)...as we tried to leave she wanted to "pay our bill". That lady is the worst manager/owner I have EVER seen. I would NEVER set foot in that bar again. They have a real problem with their traffic in and out of the door. If they decided they don't want to use any "form" of payment authentication (stamp, ticket, etc.) then they can't possibly continue to harrass people who are told they "can" leave but then they won't allow them back in.

The Back Porch is situated outside at Woody's. You can sit and have a cocktail while watching the boats come and go in the Channel. Weekends are always live music. The boat captains frequently stop by, and you can hear some amazing fish stories. They are closed in the winter, but have outside firepits and offer lap blankets during the chilly Spring. If the mosquitoes are bothering you, ask the bartender for some "Island Cologne." Great atmosphere and great people.
